First Fords, now Azteks. You people are incorrigible!
As for protection, I should think a good Spaniard--such as a Seat--would be adequate protection against an Aztek.
As for the camping disguise, I suppose that makes the Aztek the only car that comes with a factory-equipped bag over its butt; one does wonder why they didn't just tent the whole car.
Speaking of disguises, you know how they disguise new, as-yet unreleased cars when they're out testing them? Maybe they should sell ALL the Azteks that way.
Walking the dog last night, I counted 7 Soobs, including my own, in a 2 block area. But my area is sort of up and coming Baltimore blue collar-turned young artsy, with a lot of folks like me making a go of it here in the city. Kinda curious. Went back and sampled for another trait....70% of cars around the block were imports. Of those, roughly 70% were 5 speeds. Curiouser. Domestic manuals included Kirsten's Exploder Sport, another Exploder Sport, an Escort wagon, and a Cherokee.
On my block, there is my Forester L, a Legacy L (they actually exist!), and an Impreza L AWD. I hadn't thought about it before, but that's a lot of Ls!
Hi guys I have seen quite a few Azteks around Ottawa, but then Ottawa is now a high tech town so I think the ugly aztek appeals to the tech crowd, there is definitely no accounting for poor taste. Cheers Pat.
has a new Legacy L wagon. A classic Legacy L type owner—they care only about value, and nothing about cars as a rule. They used to own an old beat up Loyale. I expect their new Legacy to last them at least 10 years.

The days that they have canal cleanups are the days that the Azteks are thrown in, otherwise, the fish and gators would be confused without all the garbage to swim around...then they would need professional help for feelings of inadequacy (Gee,Doc, I feel lost.., my mom left me in this stream...)
I originally miscounted the # of Soobs on my block. There are now 8 Soobs, broken down as follows:
1 WRX (mine, of course) 1 98' OB Ltd wagon(neighbor on my left) 1 99' Forester L (neighbor on my right) 2 92' Legacy L wagons (across the street) 1 95' Impreza L wagon 2 late 80's Loyale wagons
Seattle postively swarms w/Soobs but haven't seen a whole lot of WRX's on the road yet. Seattle's only just gotten the last of the 1st allocation.
Stephen
PS (mercifully, very few Azteks seen on the road!)
I got this link from someone here. Just out of curiosity, I thought I'd try to find out where the Aztek ranked. Guess what? It doesn't! Pontiac either doesn't sell any, or it doesn't want to post the number, for whatever reason. (I know they post other numbers, because the Montana shows up in the van sales area.) Does anyone have an explanation, or are they just embarrassed?
the only Azteks out there are the ones they give to the people from "Survivor". Probably had them sign a contract to make sure they actually drive them! Wonder what the resale will be????
I was driving the WRX over to Shilshoe Marina in Ballard portion of Seattle. It was a beautiful spring evening and I wanted to see the sun set across the Sound behind the Olympic mountains. I pull up to a stop light in Ballard and a 02' OB Sport in silver pulls up next to me. I had noticed her back a ways. She had been trying to get up next to me for a couple of blocks (no, I wasn't speeding...much). Anyhow, she looks over at me and gives me a big thumbs up! I returned the gesture and couldn't stop wiping the big grin off my face. This never happened in my OB.
Well, it looks like I will never be able to view Subaru's new web site, since I can't seem to get Flash to work on my system. It seems like they're not going to offer a non-Flash site.
Only Richard (the winner) got an Aztec. Well, then Rosie O'Donnell gave the others each one of their own (as punishment for losing, perhaps?). She then gave Richard a bag of rice, probably to cover his head while driving!
Resale will drop. $1000 rebate and a free camo package drop their resale value immediately.
Impreza sales look great. See Patti? We knew this was going to happen. In fact, the WRX is actually attracting former Legacy and Forester owners right here on the Crew. More proof that those more profitable models could use a similar power (and image) boost.
The 236% increase in sedan sales is a little misleading, since the coupe was dropped (guess those are down 100%).
Still, turbo = fantastic results. Any chance you could give us a hint as to what new "wagon" will appear at the NY Auto Show? :-)
According to GM's media site the Aztek had its best sales month ever, 3144 units sold. For 2001 they have sold 8,658 units. For 2000 they sold around 12000 units. The Auto Site Market report site seems to have missed the Aztek, it would be about #30 on their chart this month if it was listed.
Well, if you subtract all the ones from Dark Angel, Survivor, and the ones GM execs were forced to drive (program cars, maybe?), I bet more consumers buy Troopers.
Funny, I noticed the same thing. Someone should tell them that the Aztek doesn't look futuristic. A Vehicross would be a better choice. Must be their budget. Dennis
I have those things, under different private albums :-P I'm still on the Photopoint learning curve. I thought it would look funny just to have private albums, but I guess maybe it would look better than having empty ones.
Yes, I got 32.7 MPG from one tank. It was on my run down out of the Tetons, so it was quite literally downhill most of the way!
I don't mind low volume, makes for nice discounts The VX02 is a concept, it won't be produced. The VX's last year will be 2001, the ceramic dies are all but finished their useful life. The VX is actually hand assembled 03/04 will bring the new Trooper, Isuzu DOHC V8, 3 rows of seats. Hopefully just as boxy, just as in-expensive, and maybe even IRS.
I was just reading about Subaru sponsoring Gary Fisher Mountain bike team. In the same article, they mentioned a future Subaru event : "the Subaru Outback Rendezvous." Does anyone know what or where this is?
Hi all. Just joined you as a privileged owner of a Subaru! Although I was pretty convinced I was going with Subaru, these boards helped nail my decision (in addition to a test drive of the WRX!!!).
Anyway, looking forward to many years (and miles) and Subaru fun.
Welcome. Let me know how you like your WRX. I've had my silver 5spd wagon for a week now and 440 miles. I love it so far but can't wait to pass the magic 1000 mile break-in mark!

"Did you bring a bag to put over her head?" "Yeah I brought 2, one for her and one for me, in case one of them broke!"

There are four Foresters (all S models) between my house and a block and half down my street. How's that for urban smarts?

They sold how many last year? They were only at about half the original projected sales pace. The camouflage package may help!

Yes, on the TV show Dark Angel (remember, I have a 15 year old son), the only vehicles lurking in the mist are Aztecs.
There are a bunch of them on the show. Do they count as sales?
Okay, now I'll be good.
Patti
Thank you Subaru web developers. :-c

Paisan: are they going to build the VX02? That made more sense to me than the coupe.

Oh, that's right, the D in WDB stands for Dave. You have license not to own pets.
IIRC, you surpassed 30mpg at one poing, even with all those bugs killing your aerodynamics! Or being killed by them, or both!

What model Subaru did you purchase?

Believe it or not, the dealer had a blue WRX on the lot that was ordered, but never picked up. Good luck...for once.

Did you keep the Cougar or trade it in? Too bad Mercury cancelled the Cougar S.

All 2K2 Impreza WRX line will be there
All model lines will be represented
There will be a rally car there
There will be information about the "marketing efforts" related to motor sports
I'll post if I hear anything else.
