AFAIK there are no "aftermarket" software solutions for Volvo proprietary software.
We have a few independents that bring us the cars for downloads.
By the way ... I'd say you've either mixed up your numbers/letters or someone broke the badge on your trunk.
Its either 2.5T or T5.

Any direct connection to the radio would require software.
I don't know if Crutchfield or anyone has an aftermarket solution to the software issue.
would you need to update the software if you added a volvo CD changer?
i'm just curious, because the adapter would only play through the stereo like the stock cd changer. so you are essentially fooling (for lack of a better word) the stereo into thinking you've plugged in the cd changer, that's all.
Granted, however, if the sirius upgrade from the volvo dealer allows you to change stations on the satellite using the stock stereo controls, then that might be a bit more convenient than using the satellite unit's controls.

Anytime you add hardware to a pc you need the software to run it.
In the case of the radio, adding a changer alone won't work. The car's systems need to know the changer is there and this requires software.

Any new luxury car has a similar system.
Pretty soon, even run of the mill cars will operate this way.
I know my '03 Lincoln doesn't have this problem, and neither does my wife's '05 Pacifica (of course, its arguable whether that is in the same luxo-category as volvo).
If it does get to the point where the answer to every new car problem (worse than that is for every mod you want to make) is "take it to the dealer," I'll find myself buying nothing but used cars.

Also, any comments regarding dealer installed Satellite radio? Has anyone taken the plunge? I would be interested to hear whether the factory radio with Sirius displays the channel, artist, and song.
The stock Volvo audio systems, IMHO, are among the best in industry. The only brand I know that have better stock audio is Lexus with their Mark Levinson. line.
I own S80 and XC90 with the stock audio and find S80's one very good and XC90's decent.
I drive S60 occasionally, as a loaner (at scheduled maintenance) and believe that S60's one is on a par with XC90, i.e. quite decent.
In fact it is better than most.
The Premium sound system is very good, plus it coems w/ a cd changer.
Again, compare the price of our system to the upgrade systems on Bimmers, Benzes and Lexus.
The Volvo Sirius radio will display artist, song, etc.
i'm sure that will change, but, as of now, most cars, AFAIK, still have OBD2 ports.
Where it does get hairy, even with my '98 volvo, is the special systems like ABS and climate control. While these things CAN be read through the OBD2, you do need the correct software to read the codes. As far as my code reader is concerned, nothing exists on my volvo beyond the engine. ABS and climate control errors don't appear at all in my reader's interface.

the holdover models will arrive in August.
The 07 C70 may not arrive until Sept.
The new S80 won't be out until Nov-Dec.
Timing belt is done @ 100,000 mi.
Sometimes they are done a service early if they look worn or frayed.
You have alot less sidewall on the 18"s.
You may experience a slight difference going to the 225's.
And out of interest would it be better to sell a used S60 before the new model is introduced or does it make no difference to valuation? My thought would be that one could get a better price on a car which hasnt been superceded by a newer version....just a thought. (Of course in the situation like the BMW 7 Series the newer version was hated and the older shape sold at a premium!).
Now that I think of it the current generation S40 is 2 or 3 times the car that the prev generation was and I think those values are holding strong.
Resale value on an older S60 shouldn't be affected by a new S60.
Thanks alot again.

Don't want to burst the bubble but......the turning radius SUCKS HOT TAMALES. I have an 04' S60 2.5T with sports tuned suspension and 17" rims and the running joke is "Are we going to make it? Goodness, it is scary in tight parking garages and trying Uturns. Many, many times I cannot make a uturn. Very comfy car though. I also have a BMW 325i with sports tuned suspension and 17" rims and if you truly enjoy DRIVING, the experience...then hands down no comparison and the BMW has to win. I still love my VOLVO.
Ride probably won't be much smoother though.
You would need to go down to a 16" to have a noticeable difference.
235's require a 17x7.5 wheel. This is the standard size for Volvo 17"s.
My sons drove/drive this car at school and college and they love it.
If the car you buy has an extended warranty you can sleep easy....which is why we bought an extended warranty. When we sell the car the new owner will have the comfort of having up to 8 years and 100,000 coverage. I am sure that you would pay a bit more for a car with extended warranty wouldnt you?
Thanks in advance for any insights and experiences you can share.

(I'll post this in both the "Volvo S60" and the "Tires" discussions.)
Very happy w/ them, have them on my vette as well.
The Goodyear Eagle F1 is also supposed to be a good tire, not as pricey as the Michelins.

Car and Driver ran a tire test a few months ago and the Goodyear finished first. Because it had the best wet grip.
The Pilots ride better than the P Zeros and are quieter.

It is called an angle gear because it has to transmit power at a 90 degree angle.
The gear itself doesn't leak, but the housing can. Just like a transfer case or differential.
