I've gotten 3 different quotes via the internet sales at 3 different dealerships for the Odyssey EX L. The average price quote is $29200 not including dest. charge, tax, and options. Reading some of the purchase prices in this forum, surely the NW isn't that expensive! I haven't dealt with car salesmen in over a decade so is this just a starting price for internet sales? Pricing over the internet is certainly new to me.

Although prices in your area have been reported as relatively high over the past couple of years, lately some posters here and elsewhere have indicated that they have come more into line with the rest of the country. Suggest that you expand your search and get some more quotes.

I bought mine in Renton, WA, for $28,500, including dest. charge.
  • mitchcmitchc Member Posts: 39
I think it depends how you solicit your quotes. If you simply ask for a price, then you'll get a higher quote. If, on the other hand, you send an e-mail saying you want an Odyssey EX-L for under 29K with destination in a certain color - then just wait for the replies. Furthermore, I would send that e-mail out to 10 dealers closest to you. You might do better.
  • cache22cache22 Member Posts: 6
Thanks for your suggestions. I did go in and talked the price down to $28,823. That included the dest. charge, wheel locks, pinstriping, door guard, mudflaps, and roof rail. I seem to have gotten a price comparable to the going price in the NW. South Tacoma Honda was the dealership and nice to deal with. I didn't take any of those after market things they throw at you.
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
Cache22, that is a very good deal for this area. Mine had none of those extras, which would have been nice. My husband has yet to install the mudflaps I ordered on line.... ;)

I also assume tax was less for you in Tacoma than in King County.

    Well done!

hi, how about an offer of 22,500 +TTL for LX? Thanks.
  • sss2sss2 Member Posts: 11
After following this discussion for a few weeks, I finally made my purchase. I got an EX-L (MSRP $31,690)for $27,980 including destination, wheel locks, and mudflaps. Also took advantage of the 3.9% financing for 60 months.

Honda released its sales figures for March. Overall, compared to March 2006, Honda corporate sales were up 7.7%, Honda Division up 9.5%. However, Odyssey sales were down almost 20% (19.5%).

What this means is we may see some bigger incentives start on the Odyssey. (Pilot actually increased 6.6% with $2000 dealer cash).

What do you all think about think about this quote on a 2007 LX? I see someone else had a quote of $22,500 (Cornucopia, what is the dealer fee on that?). Below is the breakdown, any input would be appreciated.

    Selling Price: $22,310.00

    Sales Tax (estimate): + $1,424.99
    Tire/Battery/MVWEA: + $8.50
    Documentation Fee: + $599.95
    Tag/Registration Fees (estimate): + $150.00

Has anybody bought a 2007 EX-L with DVD and NAV?
What was their out-the-door price? What was the breakup of that price? Which county taxes did they pay?

I live in Lake County Illinois. The best price I have out-the-door is 33,442 (incl. taxes, etc.,)

Please reply to this posting or to my email bbolerjack05@yahoo.com

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

can not remember the number exactly, close to 24,400 OTD for 6.5% tax.
  • heartmdheartmd Member Posts: 9
I would like to know what buyers thought when they opted for the ivory or the gray or the olive leather as also
the different exterior colors on an EXL with DVD and NAV.

While I know it is mostly personal choice, there could be some rationality to the decision of exterior and interior colors

Pls reply here or email me at bbolerjack05@yahoo.com

$24,400 OTD sounds about in line with the 07 LX quote I got(I have 7% sales tax). I emailed various dealers in my area, none could beat it. That may change next month if Honda offers incentives.

My frist post so THANKS first for insights you folks posted here.

I will get a EXL with Nav & DVD if there is good quote matching some offers in this forum.

I tried a dealer today for EXL and got a quote of 28600 including destination charge.

Can I do better in Seattle area?
  • drewbadrewba Member Posts: 154
That quote seems to be in line with prices that others are paying in the Seattle market.

From which dealer did you get the quote?

I just starting reading these posts and am getting ready to ask for internet prices for an EX (no 'L') in central Jersey. In the past I've always been successful, after doing my homework, at buying domestic vehicles in the showroom for a $100, or slightly more, above "dealer's invoice". From what I read here, I expect to do better using the internet. Can anyone share suggestions for dealers in central NJ and any recent experience with pricing? aed

are your numbers ($30,300, $30,154 and $30,299 "Out The Door" prices??
  • kiwibird1kiwibird1 Member Posts: 1
    Hi,

Planning to buy an Odyssey EXL soon( without NAV or DVD). What was the out-the-door price? What was the breakup of that price?

Any information about the dealer from whom you got the price and also the sales person who gave the quote would be helpful as well.

    Thanks

Just a reminder that asking for out the door price doesn't help a bit as TTL is variable. Please consider asking and posting just the final price including destination and rebates but leaving out tax and license.

We bought a 2007 slate green EXL at the end of March from Herb Chambers in the Boston area. We got the following deal.

Trade: $9,500.00 (2004 Mazda MPV LX - KBB trade value $8,900 - Edmunds Trade value $10,041)
    2007 EX-L: $27,900 (includes destination)
    Processing fee: $199
Registration Fee and Inspection Sticker: $99
MA State Tax: 5% of Sale Price minus Trade price.

We walked into Herb Chambers 2 hours before closing on the 31st. It took all of 15 minutes to agree on the price. Two hours later (after paperwork and detailing the vehicle)we drove out of the dealership in our brand new Odyssey and waved good bye to the MPV.

Of course it wasn't actually as easy as noted above. We had tried to get the same deal at a different dealership earlier in the day but that dealer wouldn't come down to the price we wanted. I was upfront with the Herb Chambers sales person regarding our earlier efforts, which helped to nearly eliminate the whole negotiation process.

As background, we had researched Edmund's forums and seen prices for EXL in the $27,400 to $27,900 range and was determined not to pay more than that. So, if you are persistent, you should be able to get a similar price.

    Good Luck!

    Hi guys,
I bought an EX-L today at $27250+doc (300)+plate fee (86). not very good because you guys, for $200 more, got many accessories. Is that a normal deal for this time anyway?
Also, I was amazed that the APR that Honda financed me is 6.99%. I had not known that. Do you know if this is normal? Last year it was around 3.99%, and sometimes at the end of the year just %1.99.
    Regards.

I got a good deal at South Tacoma Honda. March 31 I bought my EX L for $28873 including dest. charges and over $400 worth of accessories. I had received an internet price from them and thought I could do better than that. It seems that the NW is a bit pricier than other parts of the country.
  • scottmtscottmt Member Posts: 21
Based on the $300doc fee, you must have purchased your DOY at Boch. Don't get too concerned with everyone elses deal -$27250 is steal a great deal on an EXL any time of the year.
  • jkl3jkl3 Member Posts: 5
We're looking to purchase an EX-L from Crown Honda at Southpoint this month. Can you please email me the name of your salesperson?

Did they charge you the $399 doc fee? You got a great OTD price and we'd like to get the same, if possible.

    Thanks!
  • anhleanhle Member Posts: 19
Thank you. I just think that 6.9% is a terrible rate. My mistake not to ask them for sure before deciding to buy. Do you think because of this good offer of $27250, the dealer wants to make money from me in different way?
  • wsurfwsurf Member Posts: 15
Is the price ($28873) you paid OTD or before any tax, etc were paid??
  • rawnakrawnak Member Posts: 9
$27250 for EX-L is a good deal. I was able to get accessories due to bargaining before hand.
Also in Feb, Honda was giving 0.9% apr, but now they dont have that. But in other states, Honda is still giving 3.9%
Boch, Clair, Herb Chambers all charge close to $300 for doc fee.
If u dont mind share which dealer is giving this price & your experience, this will help others looking to buy in MA
  • cache22cache22 Member Posts: 6
It was $28873 not including tax, title and license.Tacoma has a tax of 9.1%. I'll bet Seattle's sales tax for automobiles is even higher.

Sure, it's Bernadi Honda in Framingham. Due to urgent need of a minivan for my wife and because I have to travel abroad frequently, I went shopping only yesterday afternoon. A year ago (july) my friend was able to get a new 06 EXL for 27K, including dest+doc at Boch, so it's my target for negotiation. I went to Bernadi Honda first, saying I want to buy quick, not need to test drive it. I've played enough with my friend car, so now I just care about the price. They said with that agressive offer, I have to select a car in their stock, which does not have my first choice color (white exterior). And even if I agree with the second choice (beige), they can not give me 27K. I said let me go to another dealer for second opinion, and if they can not match, I will return. When I nearly walked out of the door, they gave me $27250.
I drove to Boch Honda, 30 minutes away in Norwood. The guy there said they no way can give me that price, but they have my first choice color. He advised me to go back to Bernadi, because their price would be $800-900 more.
So I walked out, driving to Burlington's Herb Chamber. The sales manager said they have the color, but their price is also higher. He does not believe that another dealer can do this, "why do they want to lose money?". He walked away. It's the second worst experience - I felt he does not trust a perspective customer, catching my seriousness of buying in the same day. Can not sell.
However the sales guy at HerbChamber whom I met first was very nice, telling me after his boss left, that sometimes Honda can give dealership 2% cash back if they sell quick the car that stays long on the lot. So that may be the case with Bernadi. I understood, saying, now because HerbChamber has the color of my first choice in-stock, I can add $250 more. So it would be $27500+doc+plate+sales tax. The guy called his manager, who counter-offered $28131 as best.
I decided the color does not worth that much of difference, so I return to Bernadi to take the car they have.
When driving to Bernadi, for the last try I decided to call Cambridge Honda, asking if they can match the price ($27500, now including doc fee) and have the color I like. If yes I will drive to them instead. After 5 mins the guy called back, saying they can match, if I go to buy then. I was glad, asked again for sure, about the numbers. But then the guy said "if you can prove that Bernadi made you that offer". I said I don't have that written, I forgot or they did not want to give me that piece of paper. The guy laughed "of course they can not give you the number on paper, it's a trick to keep you back. They can not do that, losing money". I said "why don't you trust me, you can call them". "No, we don't do that, it's different dealership". So, this is the worst experience with dealerships. I told the guy I would later send the paperwork to him by fax.

At Bernadi when meeting with the finance lady, having paid the deposit, I repeated the unanswered question about APR (before they said they have to wait until filling the application, and I did not care much because I thought it should be 1.9-3.9%). She showed me the APR is 7.99%. I was shocked and said it's higher than my home line equity, from which I can get tax deduction on interest. I said I would pause the deal and shop for loan myself first. Then she looked at some book and told me she can take off a point, meaning 6.99%. Over phone my wife said I can continue the deal, and we will shop for a better rate to pay off later. Also there are tons of credit card companies which offer us 0% APR balance transfer for the first 12-16 months.
So I paid $650 more than my friend did last July. Also, she got 3.9% financing.
Don't know what happened. The 07 model has the only difference in telematic steering wheel. However I've read in this forum that Odyssey sales came down 20% this year, so the price should be similar. (And I still can read here that people get close to 27K). Maybe she caught a promotional deal, or maybe the dollar recently has dropped against the yen, so all prices go higher?
  • caxenecaxene Member Posts: 3
No - these numbers are not "out the door". Ohio sales tax is variable based on county you are in - so my out the door price wouldn't necessarily equate to what yours should/could be.

By the way - these numbers are based on an EX-L with RES only. The tag from the original post continues to show. This might be misleading unless you went back and reviewed the whole chain.
  • hockeyfoolhockeyfool Member Posts: 30
I made a slight error. The vehicle price including destination was $27,700, not $27,900 as I noted previously.

Hi, thanks for all the price points you have made. It is a great reference point before making such big purchase. I got few internet quotes for EXL 07 in Broward county, but they all say invoice is 28350 +- 100 buck but nothing close to 27500 I have seen in February postings. Internet manager claims back then they had $2000 or so incentive they do not have now. My total out the door with 6% FL tax would be $30,836.86 - seems pricey, and APR is not 5.99% ... SHould I maybe wait after the summer or FL is always more expensive then other states? What you take on it?
  • rawnakrawnak Member Posts: 9
    Hi household6,

When I was shopping for 07 Ody EXL back in 1st week of Feb,
Peters Honda in Nashua was ready to match my quote of $27.7k (including dest).
Even if u live in New Hampshire , u can buy from Mass dealer, just make sure to get letter from dealer that they delivered the van to your New Hampshire residence. This letter will help in case u move to MA later and register van here.

Target the volume dealers (generally with 20-30 Odys in stock), they try to move their inventory fast. Volume dealers in mass are Herb CHambers, Boch, Clair, Commonwealth.
Bernardi is also giving good deals.

As for numbers, start with $27k (including dest) and try to finish below $27.5k (including dest). If u want any accessories, ask them to include in the above price.
I got $27200 (including dest, wheel locks, cargo tray, splash guards) from Clair Honda.
try the email approach, send emails to 10 dealers in your area with the model & color u r looking for. send 1st round lowest quote to others to see if any is willing to beat it.

pm me if u need more help.
    Good Luck

I was wondering if anyone had a good experience with a NY/NJ area dealer and if so what kind of price did they get on a ex-l with DVD. I have called/ emailed several places that are within driving distance but it is really hard to sort out the good offers and the quality places. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks!
  • jkl3jkl3 Member Posts: 5
We're looking to buy an EX-L within the next couple of weeks, so I sent out emails to the 15 dealers within 60 miles of my house (via the Honda website). So far, I haven't been that impressed with the offers that have been coming in. The lowest price has been $28,197 (including destination), plus $289 doc fees, 3% tax, and $75 tags for an OTD price of $29,400. It seems that lots of folks on this board are getting base pricing of $27,500 (incl. dest).

What is the next step in the process? Should I email my local dealer the lowest price and ask if they can beat it? Or, should I send out another email with an offer of $27,500? Will the internet salesmen negotiate after I asked for their lowest OTD price?

    Thanks for the advice :)

When I emailed internet manager links showing people paying 27500 he emailed back that "those people are from dealership trying to lour clients in to play bait and switch later, no such price exists in reality "
  • scottmtscottmt Member Posts: 21
Sure they do. Financing and after-the-sale add-on's make up a very significant portion of a dealers profit margin on the sale of new vehicles. However, I would always prefer to pay less for the vehicle and more for financing than vice versa. You can still throw in an extra 75 dollars or so a month to help knock down the principal and reduce the overall interest you pay...

Bought my new Odyssey. Ex-L with DVD and Navigation.
From Dealer in Roseville for 30850 plus fees.
Total 33500 out the door. (no financing cost)

    Few tips for new buyers:
    1. Always check Edmunds forums.
    2. Do not say 1000 less than invoice or anything. They show you different invoice and tell you edmunds invoice is not right or is old etc.
    3. Just tell them the number you wish to buy the vehicle for.
    4. Prior to visiting the dealership talk not only to the sales person but also the manager or it would be lost in translation if you know what I mean......

    Had a great sales rep.
Manager tried and tried and kept me there for a long time.
    Finally it all worked out.

Bought it on the 31st of May.
Do not know if last day of the quarter made any difference.

Love this car more than my 3 other Mercedes that we have. Honda Odyssey is awesome. Love it absolutely. If anyone doubtful ...go get it.

I am going to look at EXL today, final quote here in FL:

WE DO NOT COLLECT ANY DEALER FEES.
WE DO NOT COLLECT ANY ADDITIONAL FREIGHT CHARGES.
THIS IS FOR A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY.

The only add to your price is sales tax and tags.
    NO additional hidden fees *
In addition to my best price guarantee, all our internet customers will also receive a 5 day 4 night carnival cruise for 2, absolutely free.
    * Please remember
Dealer service fees you pay $000.00
Additional Freight charges you pay $000.00"

they confirmed it so we shall see soon :-) The cruise part cracks me up. :shades:

We recently started our van search, and I test drove several yesterday. I have decided on the Odyssey EX. I would be fine with an LX but really want the power sliding doors. I test drove the van at Honda Mall of Georgia in Gwinnett County. First, I am wondering if anyone has dealt with this particular dealer and if so, what was your experience? I was just test driving yesterday and had to go pick my son up from preschool, so we didn't talk numbers at all, but the MSRP was $29K and came to a little over $30K with other fees. They are offering 0.9% for 36 months & 3.9 % for 60 months until the end of April, and we're expecting another baby in 2 weeks so I'd like to wrap this up soon. We were originally thinking of gettin an 05, but with the special financing we justify buying new.
Can anyone tell me what a reasonable price/offer would be for an EX? I have noticed on this forum that most folks go for the EX-L, so I haven't found out much on the EX.
We are planning to trade a 2001 Toytoa Highlander.
Thanks very much for your help!
  • jakefljakefl Member Posts: 21
Are you sure that financin 0.9% is for 07 Odyssey? I was told that applies to 2006 and they are nowhere to be found anymore...
