Took a copy of the Edmunds southeast regional
customer rebate into my dealer but he couldn,t
find it on his GM list so wouldn,t honor it.

I asked Edmunds where they got there data and if
they could help me run it down. They replied it
    came from GM>>>peroid.

Now have emailed GM to tell them of edmunds rebate
and have not heard. Any suggestions?

    Charles

Have some putco's ordered Tim but mine are tapered
on both ends. I like the looks of yours so might
change as the order is not quite in according to my shop!!!What do you think?
  • pocahontaspocahontas Member Posts: 802
Edmunds' rebate information is very accurate. My suggestion would be to try calling another dealership... and see if they'll work with you.

Also, have you checked with the Chevy and/or Gmc websites? They usually list their national rebate/financing information right there. Look for a link that says "special offers" or "current offers."

Hope this is helpful. Good luck. ;-)

    I agree......very expensive.....but 1.5 years later and 2 winters...and they are still brand new....
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
and will never look dull or rust. I figured I liked my first ext.cab so much...
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
...I could take them with me from truck to truck....and once they were bought....no need to ever buy any more right?.......now I want a crew cab...DOHHH!
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
....on the ones that are rounded on both ends...if you are looking at pics on their web site...I don't think they make those any more?...I liked them too...but they said they had changed and might be able to get them special order...
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
I also figured 2 things.....the cab boards being rounded in the rear make for less to step on ...and may even be dangerous?..and the rounded box boards leave so little to stand on as well.....although I must admit...those are hardy used for me...as I'm tall.

    compare the two:

look where you step for the rear seat...pretty slim...as is the box board...I don't think they have up dated their picture since 98 or so for those?....I liked the rounded style...and ended up with these....but I knew it before they came thru Autozone (cheaper than direct).....and ended up liking them better any how.....be sue to ask which you are getting

with trucks but does anyone out there know of a site for motorcycle prices etc like emunds site, getting close to spring thinking of buying one but wanted to get the inside scoop on dealer priceing, incentives, rebates,Sorry for getting off track ......
  • sf0383sf0383 Member Posts: 204
Edmunds rebate info a'int that accurate. For example, Edmunds shows a 2500 LS crew cab 4WD SB HD as being part of a GM incentive program. Chevy and GM sites both say 'selected' 3/4 tons and do not include the HD's and dealers are saying 'No way' on 2500HD's. So is Edmunds gonna lend me the money at 4.9%?
  • markbuckmarkbuck Member Posts: 1,021
no sites for new bikes. Most dealers pay 15 to 20% less than retail.

Titus1 - I can kinda relate to what you are saying, as I race motorcycles, and have an Mech.Eng. degree, and basically don't believe in any of this add on BS except maybe putting protection in the bed for loading and unloading stuff. Just click your comments back one or two on the assertiveness level.....

Hans, the openings in the factory air dam are about 6 3/4" to 7" wide by 2 3/4" tall; several PIAA models, including the 1500 and 980, will fit this opening, as will several models of Hella "Optilux" lights. Mike L installed a set of PIA 980s on his 2500, and thinks they are a vast improvement, but may be too pricey. Hella Optilux 2020 lights are only $60 from J.C. Whitney.

Thanks for the comeback on the date of birth. I will have to look over my build checklist and see if I can find the "birthdate." I just had a Line-X bedliner put in today. It looks OK and they seemed to do a nice job - $430 which includes 8% state tax. The proof of the pudding is after it has been used for a while. The fellow did tell me to get some LTV( or something like that) and spray on it for a shiny finish. He said don't put anything else on it as most of the stuff contains oils and makes it slick. The other thing he told me is the stick with black Line-X as it doesnt' fade like gray.
I think you must have a better dealer than I did cause you got your new one very quickly compared to me. I ordered on Oct. 10 and got it Feb. 1
    Thanks again Cowboyjohn

as there seems to be a storm brewing on the east. There is a strange familiarity to your series of posts. I'm trying to follow your logic but am unable to do so as of yet. However, back to topic before you know who gets here.

    To answer your questions.
1-do you really believe that spark plug wires will give you a 5HP increase? no

2-do you actually think that a thermostat is gonna give ya another 2 HP? no

3-did you do any interior mods as well? yes
you know like stereo improvements, or such? yes

4-one thing i'd like to know is whether or not you need to burn premium fuel and has your fuel mileage improved or? premium fuel is not a requirement and fuel mileage has not improved. That's more to do with driving habits rather than the truck itself.

Welcome to Edmunds, Rick. There was only one other individual who entered Edmunds with an uproar greater than yours. You're close but the other was more obnoxious.

Do you guys remember a few boards ago (speaking of which, it doesn't seem like they renew topics anymore?) about 6 months ago, I had my leaf springs replaced due to both sagging and an irritating binding noise coming from the 1st and 2nd leafs rubbing against each other on stops and starts. Well, its starting to rub again. What is up with these cheap crap springs they are using? I guess I'd have to get a 2500 to get REAL springs? I haven't even put anything in my truckbed in the last 6 months except a couple of hockey bags.

Aside - looks like someone from the Attention Deficit website got lost on the way home and mistakenly stumbled into our Silverado topic.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
    Ok.

    joelis

Seems like GM really held back on the springs cause I looked at the HD and it had more than double the amount of springs that the 1500's have. I think the problem lies in quantity of springs rather than quality of them. Maybe they went for the "soft riding" 1500's. I was afraid mine would repeat so I had added the Roadmaster active suspension to help my springs. So far, no sagging. Maybe if I took the Roadmasters off?

oh..well...i got on here to discuss the oil related topics that were talked about a few posts back. did you all know that GM has replaced a few engines already because of this start up knock. it seems that a few have failed. if anyone knows of a TSB or Vin # that relates to the ones that are suppose to be a bad "batch" please post.
    thanks

    Hi Titus-

In addition to bco's help, here's Edmunds safety information section that includes a direct to link to the recalls, technical service bulletins, and consumer complaints from the nhtsa website. Good luck. ;-)

Hi bco- Thanks for your link. Btw, I'm not so sure what "game" you're referring to. With lack of vocal intonation and expression..., it's very easy for people to misinterpret what we write in our messages (i.e. sarcasm).

So until we get to know each other better..., let's ALL just try to be nice. Thanks! ;-)

not sure what you're talking about but thank you for the link.

the new CC HD's are pretty impressive, but i'm not sure what the best setup might be. one thing is for sure though it's not going to be the sunset. they are going to drop that color soon. although...would be pretty funny if a guy bought one in that color and then the demand for that color picked up, making it worth more. i know....not likely right tim?

thanks for throwing out the welcome mat. it's nice to see that the host becomes involved here, and also helps a guy out if needed. judging from the way things look, you must be a very organized individual. everything is neat and tidy here and not a lot of flaming going on. i've been to some boards (1 really comes to mind) that look like kaos from the word go. when i get the chance, you can believe that edmunds will get an e-mail from me expressing the way i see things here. keep up the good work.

Thanks for the replys. If you check the Edmunds
incentive and rebate site you find a S.E. Regional
rebate for almost all Silverados including the
2500HD i purchased from my dealer in Montgomery,AL. However when I took it down to the
dealer he checked and showed me all his rebates and it did not include the Edmunds shown rebate of $500. When I check the GM and Chev sites as
    suggested there is nothing there.

Poco, I asked Edmunds via email to help me verify
there rebate postings and all I got back was
"we get it from the MFG, in this case GM". What I need is specific info on who to contact at GM that
gives Edmunds their data. In case the info is not
current or accurate, can we get that from Edmunds.
  • newbamanewbama Member Posts: 11
have been out of town so just got your replys on the Putco's. The truck people I,m dealing with
down here in Montgomery has the double taperred
putco,s on desplay. Beings they are also the same
as the ones on Putco site, I assumed they were
the new ones and yours were the new. I do like
yours better but am quessing they are no longer
available. Will check with them in the morning.
Got a price of $850 installed for the cab/box
combo. High but still much below Putco site. I
think he said he did a CC for $1000.
  • newbamanewbama Member Posts: 11

I went to a local dealer to get a complete list of option codes for the HD's. The edmonds site has most of the option codes, but not all of them.

The dealer didn't really have a list, but offered to go to the computer and put my truck together with options I want. He said he would print it off for me so I would have the codes I need.

One option I wanted was 3.73 gears. After trying a few times, he concluded that I can't get it with the 6.0. I hope he is wrong.

I put on about 30,000 miles per year empty and 15,000 miles pulling about 8000 lbs.

In my 98 2500 with the 350, I wish for a little more power when pulling the trailer, but like the mileage I get when empty. I thought the 6.0 with the same 3.73 gears would be perfect.

What kind of mileage do you get when empty with the 4.10 gears? How about pulling about 8000 lbs?

newbama- $850.00 is a great price for the putcos. seems to me that tim was gonna try to off his for $1,100.00, cause he was gonna get a CC.

    ROTFLMFAO!!

A wee bit of advice. If your intent is to make a joke....best to follow up with a LOL or a hehe or a ;-) so that we know what you mean. Other than that, some of the posts are taken as sarcasm, I assure you. If that is the intent. Well, that's fine too. Yes, titus1, I'm addressing your last post, "i'll be pulling 6,000 lb. trailer from time to time. only when you have time though OK?"

The duel rounded putoc's are the OLD style....at least for Chevy's...I see in their brochure they still have the "old" style for Fords....perhaps they sell less?

I was told both could be gotten 1.5 years ago....but who knows now?...perhaps they make 2 style now?...but I do know what I have for me is available now.

I don't remember saying I'd sell mine for $1100...I do remember saying they cost me that.

$850 installed for genuine Putco's is a hell of a price for all 4...go for it.

..although these require about 14 brackets for the entire system...and I'd make sure whoever installs them is...well....you know......not a dolt!

...they are rock solid though....no wimpy here

...Ok..which engine/tranny combo is best for towing a 6000lb trailer....when I have time that is to tell you..

too bad...I ran out of time.

    - Tim
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    ..but not for you

    LOL

actually Putco's were #1059.97 with tax...add the food/bar bill for the 4 of us to install them....and it was over $1100.

..I told 2 of the guys we didn't need them....but it helped a little.......actually i think it hurt the bar tab more than helped.....LOL

...but they are solid and installed perfect and straight.....

Good Luck on this one now!

  • titus1titus1 Member Posts: 45
    local dealer has a few more HD's....another ext.cab...a CC w/6.0(green)...and a sunset(iccckkkk) 8.1/Ali CC short box....with 3.73's...

gonna take her for a spin today....

    probably the combo i need....except it's an LS and don't got 4.10's

    Grrr

    Rick

p.s. no time for me tim? that's ok...you probably need your time to try to fix your website.(it sure needs it)

Dealing with Performance Truck here in Montgomery.
They are a Putco dealer and say they will call
Putco Monday about the non tapered box board and
    the half taperred cab board.

Would rather have your types for function but the
other would be ok as they are a classy and solid
product. He held the double taperred display
unit up to our 2500hd and it looked great.

So will let you know next week what he finds out.
Maybe the price is good for a reason!!!

Pulled my 6800lb trailer the last six years with a 3:73 and 4:10 and would rather give up the gas
for the performance of the 4:10.
