Per FatWallet, put code 25609232125923 in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart and a 5% discount will automatically appear, subtracted from the order total.

There's nothing at the site about this promo, and I haven't tried it, so usual disclaimers. I have gotten stuff from Rock Auto before and they seem to have everything at good prices.

    Offer expires 1/16/2011.

    >have everything at good prices

I bought struts and shocks through them a couple months back. Shipping for one item that weights is fairly typical but adding on multiples did not increase the shipping cost by much. So along with the 5% discount (they discount codes to their customer list), they were a bargain since i was putting them on myself.

Plus delivery was next day. I was sure there was a mistake in their email after I purchased at 4 pm. It turns out they shipped that item from Indianapolis by Fed ex. The belt took 2 days by USPS.

I bought a serpentine name brand belt for half what the local box stores wanted. $5 shipping USPS and it was a super bargain. I think it was Dayco brand.

I encourage people to check rockauto.com for their prices. I did not even though a lot of people recommended it on forums for lots of years. Now I wish I had checked.

Magellan RoadMate 1424-LM 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Maps

That link goes to Amazon. The unit gets pretty good reviews. And there's free shipping. No idea how long this deal will last - prices change a lot on Amazon.

Same unit without the lifetime maps is $79.99.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It's amazing how affordable these are now. Everyone should have one (for each car).

Costco has the Garmin Nuvi 1490T for $199. That is the big 5" screen model, with free traffic updates and bluetooth, so it's pretty complete.

Sam's Club has the same one with lifetime map updates for $250, not bad. A similar model sans traffic and BT and it's $180 with no map updates.

So right now the big screen basically doubles the price.

Falken Azenis RT-615 tires. $59/tire. Limited selection.

    Vulcan Tire

I didn't check shipping or tax info.

Size selection is pretty limited... Most of those sizes would require a smaller size on the front axle....

Almost a "street stock" race tire... Great price if you can use one of those sizes, though... The Bridgestones on the rear of my car (in a similar size) go for around $300 each.... :surprise:

Huh. I have those on my wishlist for my MR2, too.
But where the heck are all the sizes? Is there really so much of a demand for 14" tires that they are all gone?

Would even consider for the GTI, but I'm pretty darned sure I ain't squeezing 265s on the stock wheels.

And I can vouch for Vulcan Tire - I got two sets of tires from them for my Miata over the years. Great prices and no problems whatsoever.

Next time I'll say "very" limited sizes. I wondered if anyone was interested in the first place and almost didn't post it - now I know. :)

Fill up 5 times at a BP station, get a Loyalty Card code each time, put the code into the webpage and you'll qualify for a $10 BP reward card. Rinse and repeat up to three times. (Not sure, but my guess is that the BP reward card can only be used at BP stations).

8 gallon minimum fill-up, offer is over on March 1, and Fezo can't play (neither can anyone else who's a resident of New Jersey).

From FatWallet, AutoSport Catalog is selling a German made "Luxury Eyeglass Holder " for your dashboard for $3.

Use code B46L4N99 for free shipping (& 10% off non-discounted items).

(BTW, that Gilt site has some Auri sport driver shoes for half price, around $90 plus shipping)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Thanks for the lead, I ordered one in faux carbon fiber as a stocking stuffer. Can't beat it for $3.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Follow-up post...got the eyeglasses holder in the mail yesterday. Amazingly fast processing and shipping. An honest, $3 purchase. Wow.

It's better than I expected for the price, not luxury but not cheap at all, either. The carbon fiber is not very convincing but it could be a lot worse.

It did not fit some plastic-framed shades I had, but some metal-wire style ones I had fit fine, so I swapped places and all is well.

Thumbs up on the purchase, thanks.

    1. Magazine publishers will sell your name and other contact info. That's a revenue source.
    2. The actual cost of producing the magazine is mostly covered by advertisers. Subscription & newsstand sales represent profit.
    3. Subscription renewals, should you choose to do so, are rarely discounted as heavily.

In short they take a short-term hit on profit but make it up over the long haul by selling your subscriber info (over and over again) and converting some cheap subscriptions into more profitable renewals.

That subscriber info, BTW, gets more and more detailed if you respond to surveys, provide more than the minimum amount of demographic data, and when they (or a data aggregator like Acxiom) merges info from multiple sources.

And half the ads in the back of the car mags are "viagra" ads. What's the deal with that?

Been wanting to upgrade so got a Garmin nuvi 1490LMT 5-Inch Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates for $50 off. $179.97 plus shipping ($4.95 for base, 7.69 for FedEx 4 to 6 day, more $ for faster shipping options available). Usual price is $230.

Gets good nav reviews exept for the ad popups when you use the traffic updates. I don't care about the Bluetooth but one person said it wasn't too good. Hope the screen size isn't too big for my usual suction cup spot hiding my tach. :-)

Have to use coupon code: CP20110177.

Deal ends on Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:59pm.

Nice deal, I've seen similar deals for about $200.

Those were $400 without the lifetime maps when they came out, it's amazing.

I forget what I paid, 2 something, a while ago.

Ad popups don't bother me. I hardly notice them and it's usually when you're not moving, sitting in traffic.

Bluetooth works well with my BBerry Bold 9700. Paired 'em once and never again had to mess with it.

Screen size is the best part!
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
I'm happy with our 1490T. We had to send the first one back because it had issues but the current one is great. I also don't find the ads annoying... they come up very rarely.

That's a great price for lifetime maps.

I love how it is worded:
The first five contestants to complete the final puzzle before the contest ends will qualify to win one of five 2011 Optimas.

So... 5 cars to give away and only 5 will finish the game ... but those 5 only "qualify." That tells me they plan on giving none away.
