Buy two gallons of Prestone and get a mail-in rebate for one of them free.
One of the posters on FatWallet noted that in the old days you'd buy a gallon of 100% antifreeze and mix it yourself. Now you can buy it premixed 50/50 ... bet it's not half price though. :-)
This offer looks good for the full strength or the 50/50 mix. The link has been flaky so if you have trouble, go to prestone.com and click on Special Offers.
Oh yeah, if you shop with RockAuto, they almost always have a 5% off coupon that you redeem by putting it in the "where did you hear about us" box. The coupon code changes monthly but the coupon sites usually have the latest code.
None here either, but I think I've seen them down in TN and Georgia.
There used to be a joint right outside of Chattanooga in the late 50's or early 60's that had an "Eat and Get Gas" billboard in the parking lot, right near Moccasin Bend beneath Lookout Mountain.
Costco Coupons 11/12 - 11/29/09 $70 off 4 Michelin tires
Must be a member and most Costcos require you to bring in the printed coupon that comes in their mailer. Sometimes you can get the mailers at the customer service counter.
The pooh-poohers over at FatWallet say that you can do better at Tire Rack, but you may live close to a Costco and could use the free lifetime tire rotation and balance and good warranty coverage.
ECS Tuning is having a big sale on VW parts - door sills and mufflers, etc. Snow chains too.
Usual disclaimers - I don't know anything about them. They list their business address and phone number right on their page though, and that's often a good sign.
The National Scenic Byways Program is happy to provide a brochure with America's Byways® free to the public. We regret, however, that we can only supply brochures to North American addresses (specifically, the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.)
Unless it's an online sale, like Newegg. That link includes 9 GPS units on sale, like a Garmin Nuvi 205W 4.3" GPS Navigation with Voice prompts for $99, free shipping. So why wait in line? Ends the 29th I think.
Advance Auto has 10% off everything ordered online, today only. No restrictions.
Pep Boys has a $5 off $35 coupon that's good through the end of the year.
National Tire & Battery has a rebate coupon for tires if you live in one of the states where they have stores:
$100 Rebate On Any 4 Passenger or Light Truck Tires $50 Rebate On Any 2 Passenger or Light Truck Tires
Good starting today through the end of the year.
Never heard of these guys (another one that's not in my area) but Strauss Auto Center back east has auto bulbs on sale for half off. Philips brand standard halogen headlights and mini bulbs. In store only, ends 12/5. Click on the circular link to see the deals.
Yeah, not counting the Subaru, I'm into gear for around $1,000 and the annual pass costs $199. Throw in a tank of gas every 5 or 6 trips and that's about it. Pretty cheap hobby.
My wife's skiing, on the other hand, is pushing $80,000 for the previous two winters. $1,000 worth of gear, the pass and gas plus the ACL surgery in '08 and the tib/fib fracture last February that's still healing. Oh, and she was on half-salary disability payments for a month recovering after getting the rods and screws put in her leg. Most of that cost has been born by our health insurance carriers fortunately.
She sold her gear at the ski swap so she got some of her $1,000 back.
I've been wanting to try snow boarding. I used to ski a lot, not lately though. I have done water skiing (slalom) and some skate boarding, you think I'll learn quickly?
Even though I live in Colorado, I've never been skiing.
Gravity, snow and trees does not make for a good combination, in my book. Ask Sonny Bono. Or that Kennedy kid.
Several years ago, my son came to visit over the holidays. Took him up to a resort where he wanted to learn to snowboard. He's spent many many hours on a skateboard in SoCal, so he figured it would be a snap.
Not. I think the big difference is that on a skateboard, you can move your feet around, whereas they are locked in place on a snowboard. He spent most of the day on the bunny slope and only got one attempt at a longer run before it got too dark.
Snowboarding was a steeper learning curve for me and my wife gave up after 4 lessons. We were 20 years XC skiers with occasional forays to downhill resorts and did some old school telemark skiing. Those skills didn't translate much to boarding. My younger nephews caught on pretty fast - one was riding after one day; the other took a few days to get the hang of it.
Different stuff breaks - more risk of concussion from heel-side falls (a helmet is mandatory) and more risk of wrist injuries. Less risk of knee and leg injuries supposedly.
In keeping with the topic, here's a free subscription to your choice of SKI, Skiing or Transworld Snowboarding Magazine at Bonnier. One year subscription, offer expires on 12/31.
She has my sympathy for the injuries especially for the ACL.
After skiing 60 years, we retired from the sport because there is not much fun cruising just the Blues....boring.
Our son suffered an ACL jumping off the summit of Mt. Bachelor in the late 80's and he was lucky to have the Seahawk's surgeon take care of him. The recovery period was longer than he wanted.

Steve, unfortunately I've checked out the T's & C's of the offer here and you have to get a mailer from Jaguar / Callaway, as there is a 10 digit ID on the mailer that must be used to redeem .. can't just pop into the dealer and tell them about the offer.
That's the secret - I got on Hyundai's list and they invited me to a Sonata vs. Accord vs. Camry test drive, plus you get a $30 gift if you attend. Probably a T-shirt and hat, something like that.
I got the code from the dealer and my order has been received. Time constraints prevented me from getting the test drive, but I suspected that the folks at the Jag / LR / Infiniti dealership wanted my ION off the lot as quickly as possible.
That is a bargain, too. Retail price just dropped to $90, so that's a pretty decent discount.
Does anyone know what version they're up to now? Last I heard 2011.10 was out, but there must be newer versions by now. I still have 2010 maps on mine, so I'm considering buying it now.
What's a bit odd is that it says it takes 6 to 8 weeks for "delivery". I think they really mean processing for the digital mags. No idea how it compares to the print edition. $20 value. Credit to FatWallet.
"Expires Nov 28, 2010. Limit 6 per person. Good for 1 day, must buy multiple for additional days. Must redeem online for e-tickets starting 11/16 at noon. Not valid with other offers. Not for resale."
About the show:
"Open from November 19–28 (including Thanksgiving weekend), the auto show will feature dozens of exhibitors and more than 50 premieres, such as the Range Rover Evoque and the Saab 9–4X. "

I don't know if NXT has been covered in Store Bought Waxes Part II (No Zaino Posts), but other reviews sound ok.

I saw a Tom Tom with text-to-speech for $59 (I forget where). A widescreen Garmin Nuvi 205w for $99 at Wal Mart before 11am.
Both of those prices are like buying maps and getting a GPS for free. Unreal.
I just paid $189 for a Nuvi 265wt but found it for $169.
Anyone crazy like me goin' shopping early tomorrow?

My sister and I hit the stores at 8am. Which me luck! :surprise:
Had a bit of a slow start, since WalMart was basically out of EVERYTHING on the doorbuster list.
As they day progressed I actually starting finding everything I wanted, though I went to more than one store location to accomplish that.
Best Buy has some steals on GPS devices, the 265wt was cheaper than the 255w model!
At least I dumped some stuff on craigslist this morning so the net volume of crap in my house stayed the same.
I need tires for the van so I guess this means that tires won't go on sale again for 3 months.

However, this is apparently a special promo with Jaguar and Callaway.
Buy an XF, get 8 irons from Callaway
Buy an XJ / XK, get 13 clubs plus a golf bag.
I'll be happy with the test drive and the free putter - be interesting to see what, if anything, they try to sell me.
