Does anyone have a link to a photo of the Turbo Limited with the Panoramic Sunroof that actually shows the sunroof well? Thanks!

Limited Turbo around $27,700 or so.

Right. So a fully loaded w/Nav will be about 30k MSRP, street probably around $28k a few weeks after intro.

I've seen about 40 different pics of the Limited 2.0T and not one has shown the roof of the car, even with a normal style sunroof. I don't think they have that worked out yet in a model car. Remember these things aren't even going on sale for another 5-7 months!

Hi does anyone feel that shifting from P to R feels hard and stiff when the car is parked uphill?

    Thanks.

Hi, can u give a link to those pictures, please?

Depending how much they make the Nav package for that model. I think we should see it fully loaded for around $29,500 msrp, which is still much better value/nicer/more hp/more mpg/as many or more features than a loaded Accord, Camry, Altima, etc. Not to mention basically getting all of the SE's visual upgrades in the turbo Limited. That is a good compromise for people who want the sporty look of the SE but the nicer ride of the Limited.

Why would they charge a lot less for the Nav package on the turbo than they do now?

Well, MSRP for an '11 base Limited now is $26,015. So you think that adding the Turbo, 18" wheels/tires, panaramic sunroof and dual exhaust is going to add less than $1500? Just adding the V6 in the 2010 added $2000 to the Limited price.

I guess anything is possible and that would be nice but I think you're dreaming. A fully loaded '11 Limited w/nav, white pearl paint, wheel locks, floor mats, IPod, etc. MSRP is $28500. So I don't think my estimation for a fully loaded 2.0T for about 30k was wrong.

But I do agree that it will still be a real value compared to the others like you mentioned. An Accord EX-L Nav V6 auto is around $31,800 so the Sonata would come in well under that especially considering street prices.

Thanks, Meik. I will check with them and will post back the result.

Updated: I just checked and the company does not sell insurance in California :( .

    Excerpts from the link

***In March Sonata outsold all (Altima, Fusion, Malibu) except for Camry and Accord

Retail-only sales data indicates that March marks Sonata’s emergence as America’s third best-selling mid-size sedan, trailing only Camry and Accord, and outselling vehicles like the Altima, Fusion, and Malibu in showrooms across the country.

    ***Impressive sales # YOY
On a year-over-year basis, Sonata was up 52.6 percent, Tucson was up 129.1 percent, Santa Fe was up 62.8 percent, and Genesis was up 31.9 percent, marking the 9th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gain for Genesis.
  • syitalian25syitalian25 Member Posts: 303
Yeah I guess it is wishful thinking, but I am sure they want to keep it at least a few hundred less than a maxed out Camry or Altima, and probably a few thousand less than a loaded Accord. You guessed $30K, I guess $29.5K .. somewhere in that area will probably be correct give or take $500 or so.
  • maxamillion85maxamillion85 Member Posts: 78
aren't most fully loaded Altimas and Camries more expensive than similarly equipped Accords? My research experience has always shown this to be the case. Accords lack features next to most of the competition though

There is more black then wine. I do not like that at all.Why did they have to put so much black? Has anyone seen the camel leather?

I've connected my Droid and my contacts now appear; however, when a call comes through, or is placed, it shows the number rather than the name (of the person in my contacts). Does anyone know if this can be changed? I've tried and found nothing, but I would rather see the name of the caller versus the number.
  • spyderonespyderone Member Posts: 54
I was thinking just the opposite. Too much wine in the seats. A combination of black and wine would look better in my opinion. Also the wine color looks too light. I thought it would be darker, but pictures can be deceiving than what it actually looks like in person.
  • maxamillion85maxamillion85 Member Posts: 78
i agree the seats look magenta like...i was hoping for a deep Burgundy look.

Me too!!! So much for wishful thinking.

I bought the manual Sonata 2011 that came will the steel wheels. When the snow blows, I plan to purchase a set of alloy wheels, put the summer tires on them and the a set of winters on the steel wheels. Will Hyundai have the ally wheels available by the fall? Are they lighter in weight? Are they only available through Hyundai?
  • syitalian25syitalian25 Member Posts: 303
I think the alloy wheels are available now if you called the dealer and had them order you some, but I wouldn't plan on it being cheap. OEM Alloy wheels, especially if you decide to upgrade to the 17'' or 18'' er's, are going to be a fortune. You are likely better off going with aftermarket ones.

I saw the wine interior on a Limited last evening. It looks much better than these pics. The wine is definitely darker in person and does look like burgundy.

    That sucks.

How about Progressive? I just found this on their web page. It looks like they have their own term for GAP insurance.

I am not sure if they cover your area though. [non-permissible content removed] luck

In their commercials they claim it's 200 HP.

Edmunds says it's only a meager 198 HP. Who's lying here.

198 hp in the GLS and Limited, 200 hp in the SE. ;)
  • andres3andres3 Member Posts: 13,966
Ahh, thanks for clearing that up... does the extra 2 horses take away any fuel mileage economy?

I don't think so. Dual muffler gives SE 2 extra HP if I remember correctly.

Just received the mud guards for my 2011 Sonata Limited. They fit perfectly and installation was a snap (and I am NOT mechanically inclined). The mud guards come with pre-drilled holes that fit perfectly with screws already in the wheel wells. I had to turn the front wheels sharply to work on the front ones. The rear guards were a real challenge. There is not enough clearance between the tire and the inside of the wheel well to work the screws in and out. I had to use a small phillips head and lock it in a pair of vice grip pliers. It took a while since I could only turn the screw about a quarter turn at a time. Over all, it took me about an hour. It probably would have been a little easier had I been able to put the car up on a lift. At any rate, I'm sure I saved quite a bit in labor costs had I had the dealer do this. (By the way, you will need a short nubby phillips head screwdriver and a pair of vice grip pliers.) Good Luck!

Hmm...that part about "retail-only sales" might be a little clever on Hyundai's part. I guess this excludes fleet sales and things like that. Fair enough, but the "official" sales figures still have the Sonata in 5th place behind the Camry, Accord, Altima, and Fusion. I love the Sonata but it was still 3800+ units behind the Fusion for 4th place. I expect the Sonata's numbers will improve as more supply is available and the car becomes more visible. I have still only seen one on the road and there are four dealers within 30 miles of me.

Hyundai has now officially unveiled the turbocharged version of its all-new Sonata at the New York auto show, and the specs are pretty darn impressive.

Powered by an all-new 2.0-liter turbo four, the Sonata 2.0T will take top honors in its class in both highway fuel economy and power—including V-6 competitors—according to Hyundai’s estimates. The Korean company is saying the engine should return 34 mpg on the highway (and 22 mpg in the city) while generating an eye-raising 274 hp at 6000 rpm. Torque stands at an equally impressive 269 lb-ft, delivered between 1800 and 4500 rpm. Hyundai says you can even shop in the regular-unleaded section of your local gas station—no premium required, as is the case with most other turbocharged engines.

  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Thanks for the link. Good review. However, he stated he was with the Limited and it was probably the SE. Looks like 18" wheels, doesn't have the turn signals in the outside mirrors and I saw some fabric on the seats. Anyway, this review was done at the initial press release and test drives in San Diego so we have to cut them some slack.

Looks like the wood trim is black, similar to the stuff used on the Mazda6?

Thank you again, Meik. I just called and got a quote from Progressive. Yes, they indeed offer the one similar to GAP insurance for just $30 for 6 months. However, they required us to also purchase the comprehensive insurance from them.

After giving out my info, I got the quote that double to what I am paying to my current insurance :(

I will call Hyndai Financial group to see if I can purchase GAP from them. Has anyone tried it?

    Thanks.
  • jsmit86jsmit86 Member Posts: 116
You may also check with your current insurance company to see if you can get "replacement cost" insurance. It usually is available for the first 2 years. While it is not exactly the same as gap, it assures you of covering a replacement on the car if a loss occurs in the first 2 years.
  • syitalian25syitalian25 Member Posts: 303
You were planning on getting a new $25K car and not getting comprehensive insurance? What if the car got stolen or something?
  • mtran70mtran70 Member Posts: 7
I've already gotten the comprehensive insurance from my current company. Just need to have the GAP to cover the bad case (totaled). The current company does not sell GAP or anything similar.

As mentioned, I *google* all over the web and saw a lot of ads for GAP insurance. However, all the links point to websites that only quote the whole package (i.e. comprehensive) so I cannot buy the GAP separately.

I found one call Driver Select GAP Insurance

    http://www.gap-insurance.com/gap25.htm

but not sure if the company is legit. Anyone knows about this? Again, thank you all for your kind help.

Just signed off today, picking up later this weekend:

2011 Limited without nav for $23,000 ( including $199 doc fee and $400 college grad rebate) + TTL.

What worked for me was I contacted a dealer on the AMEX program, then had another dealer better that by $500, and then finally had my local dealer match that.

    So excited!! It looks great.

I was told by the dealer that the camel came with woodgrain. From what I see it is black.I am getting a black plum pearl Limited with NAV with the camel and it better have woodgrain or they can keep it and get me another one. I was told it would be at there dealership about the 10th. I wonder why Hyundai will not let you order just what you want and not expect you to take what they send? Like I said, no woodgrain, no new car.
  • batch5batch5 Member Posts: 13
Harbor gray was on our list too..Actually, aside from black plum & the indigo blue, my wife & I liked all the colors.

I also was interested in wood grain with camel, but I ended up signing for the pacific blue with gray interior.

The pix saw today from a dealer in Pensacola show a black wood grain.

I am considering ordering an aftermarket kit.

    link title

I'd like to hear from anyone who has done aftermarket wood in a 2011 Sonata.
I had a similar kit in my 2003 Infiniti, and I liked it. If I get the new kit, I want to custom order less pieces than they show in the photo here.

Today I saw a white 2011 Sonata. Man, what a beautiful car. I'm very happy with my black/gray interior but the white/beige interior is really gorgeous.
  • wolverinejoe80wolverinejoe80 Member Posts: 337
please please please don't do it... it's way too much faux wood. it's tacky.. if you are going to do it, just do it subtly. maybe just around the vents? but not the entire thing.. that would be awful.

but well, it's your car.. :)
  • pianotupianotu Member Posts: 10
I can't decide black or white to go with camel leather. Does Sonata's white paint really look more special than other white cars?

For me I'm trying to think what will look better in 5 years or longer down the road...
