Again the "wrong and out of place here" phrase by the sheriff about someone who doesn't agree with him. Okay Senator. I'm out of here. I have more enjoyable things to do than to bicker on an automobile forum. I very much like the new Sonata; I may even buy the Limited regardless of anything anyone says, good or bad. I base my opinion on facts which are abundantly available about the car everywhere. I expect people to disagree with me. By the way "what's your favorite color?" so I don't offend you by saying that only a fool would like that color. De gustibus nondisputandum est.

Thank you pod for your continued dishonesty & delusion.

Fact is, I never used the phrase "wrong and out of place here".

Judging from your new message which you have sent me, I am now beginning to understand better what kind of a person I am dealing with here.

& seeing that all of your previous arguments are already based on FAULTY PREMISE & describes everyone here who makes valid issue with 'purposely negative comments' as "Hyundai Loyalists", of course it would not be hard for anyone to see why you would feel "wrong & out of place here" all by yourself & voluntarily have to make yourself into a 'victim' when no one has done anything wrong.

Please learn to see all of your own mistakes first(which I pointed out very clearly in my previous post) before accusing others on false, fabricated, & exaggerated grounds, & calling them "Hyundai Loyalists".

It's a little suspicious that until yesterday there were 33 reviews with an average rating of 9.9. All of a sudden 11 new reviews show up in one day knocking the rating down to 9.7. Clearly someone with an obvious agenda.

Actually, this is a function of the way the reviews are handled on our end. They are collected and reviewed in a batch and subsequently published in a batch. This does not mean a whole group was submitted at the same time.

    Thank you for that clarification.

Yup, the full review is apparently on April 30 (note to self - set the PVR) Today's review was just a first impression, but it was very positive. I saw it on Speed.

For Canadians out there there is also a nice review on CTV's Car Business of this weekend

Just got my new Car and Driver in the mail today and they compared the new 2011 Sonata SE with a Subaru Legacy and Honda Accord... Surprisingly the Sonata won by a large margin. Nice to see publications being subjective for a change...

I have a Limited w Nav on order, and I just found out that my Samsung Blackjack does not support contact transfer. Is there a way to store contacts on the Sonata, and voice dial? (My wife's Dodge Journey has the U-Connect System, and you can create a phone book that stays in the vehicle, that is not phone dependent)

Are you sure this is the Accent? This looks more like a foreign version of the Sonata or something, in fact I'm pretty sure it is. Also I found another picture of the Accent online which doesn't look like this -

    image

Still 1500% cooler looking than a Yaris or even a Civic.

I haven't put gas in it other than to fill it up, but it does this automatically without having to do anything. You can also reset it manually if you want to. I usually reset it manually several times during a tank just to see what kind of mileage I get in various driving conditions, so the automatic reset hasn't been a big deal either way.

That looks more like the Veloster Coupe which will be the Tiburon replacement sometime next year.

It looks a little too big to be the Accent; I was thinking it was the Elantra, which does have a very similar side profile to the new Accent's. It's clear Hyundai is creating a family resemblance for its sedans.

If that photo is the new Accent, and if it has the rumored small-displacement GDI engine good for over 40 mpg... who needs the Sonata? :) (Just kidding... lots of people need the room of a mid-sized car like the Sonata. But many don't.)

I have a phone that doesn't support voice dial. So I had to create a couple contacts on Sonata to use "Call xxx" function even though I had them on my contact list. I honestly have no idea how/where it is stored, but I was able to create 2 contacts on Sonata that are identically same contacts on my phone. It was little painful though.

You can take a look at the owner's manual. You can start with press voice command button (top one) on your steering wheel, say "Phonebook" then "Add Entry" then follow instruction. I think I said "By Name" at some point.

Does any one know how much it would be to replace one?
I know that I have to buy one key fob and have to go to dealer to reset keycode on the car and key fobs. I want to know how much it would be because I bought a plan that covers a key replacement but it doesn't sound too good when I received and read its terms. So I am considering to cancel it if key replacement cost is not too much.

You may have a point about the aftermarket additives not reaching the back of the intake valves in a DI engine; but this would depend on whether these additives are all burned up during combustion, or whether they remain in the exhaust gasses in a significant enough quantity to clean the intake valves when reversion pulses push the exhaust there. A phone call to Chevron Corp. in San Ramon, CA would put you in touch with a technical person who could resolve that question. Chevron has been very cooperative in letting me speak with technical people when I called with a question that needed answering.

I have never found a product as good as Chevron Techron for cleaning out combustion chamber deposits. I have also received several reports of Sea Foam wiping out spark plugs when it was used. So I will not try that product.

Thanks! That sounds very similar to the process on our Dodge Journey. I really do not care if the phone book from the phone does not transfer, as long as I can store a few of the most dialed friends and family members.

I don't know on the Sonata but I can tell you on my last car it was $385.

Thanks. Just wonder what mechanism makes it reset. Must be something in the filler door or the button to open the filler door also resets the computer. Most cars it is a manual reset. Kind of different. Not bad just different.

My Camry did he same thing, but there was no manual reset. I know it wasn't the door or the switch to open the door. It was either the gas cap itself or the fact that the gas volume actually went up.
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
cap itself or the fact that the gas volume actually went up.

Now that is even stranger. You'd think it would have to be some sort of switch or button or something. So every time you filled up the computer would reset. That is something I would never have thought and is very interesting.
  • midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118
Well I know it's not the door. On the Camry it's a mechanical switch on the floor that's in the same spot as the trunk. A few times I opened the door when I meant to open the trunk. It did not reset.

There is some type of sensor regarding the cap because, like the Sonata, if you don't turn it till it clicks it's going to set off your check engine light. I don't think it's a mechanical switch but more a pressure sensor. But that's just a guess.

Was it for a new key + recoding at a car dealer?

I saw an update to this same picture over on autoblog.com and it said the site in S Korea which originally posted this pic now is saying it's the new Elantra. I'm pretty interested if it's the Elantra. Several things were bad with the Elantra IMO. 1. The styling. Which if this is the new Elantra....that is fixed nicely. 2. The 4sp auto trans. Hopefully that will be at least a 5 spd. 3. The MPG. Not bad but could be a lot better. Hopefully that will be cured too. If so, that will be a hard car to beat because it already had plenty of room.

I really like the new Tucson too but it needs more grunt for me and larger gas tank. No legs. Maybe the 2.0 turbo and a couple more gals of gas and it would be very nice.

I still like the new Sonata too. I'll be very interested in the turbo version later this year. Lots of nice vehicles coming out of this manufacturer.

The steering wheel has "trip" and "reset" buttons for resetting it manually.. As far as the automatic reset I just assumed when the fuel gauge hit the last bar (meaning full) the same computer reset the MPG.
  • midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118

    Yes, Toyota dealer, 2007 Camry.
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
That kind of makes sense. If you don't fill it up(I know, probably rarely) it wouldn't reset unless you reset it manually?
  • midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118

That's the article on autoblog that I was referring to. Did you see the Update: at the bottom. It's not absolutely definitive but they believe it could be the Elantra. Anyway, nobody can say for sure at this point but it looks good.

It is Verna, which is Accent. confirmed with few korean websites. :)

Elantra has a different mirror design, big bigger, has different wheel design, and the side crease swoops up. and it's even better proportioned than this one.

Hyundai is taking over the world with Fluidic Sculpture! :)
  • wolverinejoe80wolverinejoe80 Member Posts: 337
Autoblog is wrong. I just let them know they are wrong. :)

I go to many korean forums and they are certain this is Verna, and other spied car with camo is Elantra

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ds373tuKbYI

    this is elantra

    1. it has a different mirror
    2. crease swoops up
    3. wheel is different(5 lugs)
    4. and this has bigger wheelbase than current elantra
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Autoblog isn't really wrong as they admitted they didn't know for sure and in fact started off the article saying it was the Accent. Someone can't be wrong when they didn't say it was one or the other for sure.

You are saying without a doubt it is an Accent. I have no reason to doubt you but you could be wrong.

    Verna, Accent

    image
    Elantra

all of them will have Sonata cues! Happy Hyundai family baby! :)

anyway, i'm 99% sure because i got these from most reliable korean sources(over 10 websites) and every spyshot forums here in the U.S. i believe them. Autoblog is very unreliable on these things. they never research them. seriously this isn't first time i had to email them that they are wrong.

I actually give them many inside sources(from Korea) to them. they just cover them like a reporter. :)

    FIXED :)

page 94 of this forum is not being displayed properly.
The right edge of all messages is being cut off by the ads.

I am having the same issue in Firefox, and IE.

    ?????
  • meikmeik Member Posts: 63
Thanks, then Sonata would be almost the same.
  • meikmeik Member Posts: 63
I think Accent picture that wolverine posted is causing the issue.
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Try going to View in your browser and setting the Text size smaller. It is not being cut off for me.

Quick question: On the limited. Is it the driver's or the passenger's temperature that blows through the rear vents?

It really looks BIG for an Accent...

I am pretty sure I saw the Elantra is getting 6 speed trannies also, like the Sonata, plus will ditch (finally) the old iron block Beta II engine for the latest Hyundai aluminum engines. So looks like all your wishes will be granted. Mine include standard ESC (which will definitely be there since it's mandated very soon) and better crash protection. And the better mpg.

I really like the new Sonata, but the Elantra is plenty roomy for me for an around-town car (the Accent probably is too for that matter). The Sonata is a better car for DW... and in fact she has one now and loves it (2007 GLS).
  • sidaliassidalias Member Posts: 2
Dual option is for driver and front passenger.
  • swingmanswingman Member Posts: 54
I think you misunderstood his question. He was asking how the back vents are controlled.
  • sidaliassidalias Member Posts: 2
There is no a specific knob controlling temperatures on the dashboard for rear passengers. Two traditional vent blinds on the center console.
  • batch5batch5 Member Posts: 13
Hmm, couldn't find this online..Anyone found a link to this? Would love to read it.
  • lancep97lancep97 Member Posts: 36
What I'm trying to ask is what temperature blows through the two rear vents in the case that the driver has his temp. set at 68 and the passenger has their temp. set at 80?
  • googonabikegoogonabike Member Posts: 27
I think the only base line, and quite a wide one at that, would be class and intended purpose of the car. In the case of Sonata it's squarely fits in the so called family sedans (Accord, Altima, Camry, Fusion, Malibu, Optima, Passat), Some of them are deemed sportier then others, but none of them is true sports sedan/car. So, it's quite unreasonable if not down right stupid to compare Sonata to BMW 3, A4 or GTI, not to mention Ferrari.
But, within it's class, considering tangible qualities: build quality, materials, fit and finish, set of features, driving dynamics, ride quality, fuel efficiency, power, reliability and value for the $, 2011 Sonata comfortably stands above the "crowd".

I stopped by the library the other day and read it. Don't know if it's online yet. C&D sometimes holds there stuff offline for awhile.

Does anyone have any good info on the Limited and the camel interior. I have heard lots of different stories but nothing solid. Are there any phone numbers that I can call to get the real story? I am waiting for a Black Plum Pearl with NAV and Camel interior.
    Thanks for any help. :confuse:
