I have the Pearl White and obviously think that's the best color. But the Silver looks surprisingly good IMO. I've seen it a few times at the dealer and really like it. But the Indigo Blue I didn't like. No doubt some people think it's nice, but not my style.

New york state tax is 8.125 %.And remenber you only pay sales tax on the difference between cost of car and trade in, not cost of car.

    Hi KEYMAN
I got my car at Healey Brothers Hyundai in Beacon New York. The silver is absolutely gorgeous , the brochure does not do the silver justice.!!

Yes the Pearl White is nice and that was my second choice. I wanted black interior
and there are only four exterior colors that you can get with black interior. Radiant Silver,Pearl White,Harbor Gray Metallic, and Phantom Black Metallic.Gray was ok and black to hard to keep clean

IMO, the indigo blue looks a little "low rent" for such a classy car.

Stick with black, white, silver or pacific blue as the best colors. You can also go with red if you are so inclined.

    Hello,
I am about to purchase Sonata Limited with Ipod connection, Wheel lock, carpeted floor mat, and homelink options at a sales price of $24,235 + tax and rmv fees.
What do you experts think of this price?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Indigo Blue is HOTTT.Very Sporty.Silver is almost a whitish, light gray silver, but is a distant second choice.
If anyone knows of a Hyundai Dealer in the New York City or Long Island area who might be willing to sell me a Sonata SE Indigo Blue for $22.5 (or $24.5 w/sunroof and nav) please let me know. Thanks in advance.
PS- Was the $23,500 only with financing, or do you think I could get that price with cash and a trade-in??? Even Overstock.com and AE have "lowest" prices of $24000+ ,and TRUE "Great" price of $25000+. I hope Atlantic Hyundai can give me the $23,500.

I have to agree. Don't know about "low rent", but it's one of those colors that most cars don't wear very well. If you like it, don't buy it, because you'll probably regret it. If you love it, go ahead and buy it, you probably won't regret it.

Sorry if this is an obvious question but what is it supposed to do in terms of improving handling? Better road feel?

    Stolen from http://www.ehow.com

Strut bars, or stabilizer bars are they are more accurately called, more evenly distribute the tension between the left and right struts of a car. They're also called anti-sway or anti-roll bars. Think about the forces you feel on your body when you turn your car: You feel a push or throw to the outside of the turn and tend to compensate by leaning into the turn to remain upright. Strut bars work in similar fashion by stabilizing or sharing that roll tension between the left and right strut.

And then when you put on stickers you get better gas mileage and more hp.

Only a few states seem to regulate these rip off doc fees, California being one at $45.00, another I saw was $250. The dealer charges plenty for each step of the registering process and also gets a high fee for being a "branch" of the DMV, $96 in my case. The fees around Jacksonville seem to be between $599 and 699. I suppose we, the residents of Florida, should lobby our representatives to inact a limit, but I doubt that's going to happen.

I have ordered an aftermarket strut bar from Shark Racing to help improve handling even more. Someone on the Hyundai Forum posted a pic of his - check it out below. It basically distributes the load during turning between the right and left shock towers to help prevent leaning. It is a part usually found on high-end cars like Mercedes, Porsche, etc. if anyone is interested here is the link - $92 - Shark Racing 2011 Sonata Strut Bar

I went to Atlantic and wound up at Huntington Hyundai. Salesman was Bob Awn. Atlantic began with a real low trade in price for my car and when I told him I was embarrased at their offer he said just first sharpening of the pencil.
Also Huntington gives you a free oil change every other time and you can make appointments. Huntington has the best service of the two.

I was storing my GPS and the heavy manual in the glove box but I noticed a rattle there every time I hit a harsh bump. So I removed the GPS and the rattle was less frequent, but still present occasionally. I then removed the manual, but I still get a slight rattle sometimes.

I'm thinking of mentioning this to the dealer when I bring in my car for its first oil change. Has anyone raised this issue with the dealer yet?

I'm still looking for a raised rear deck spoiler for my Pearl White limited. Has anyone heard anything from their dealer on when these might be available? www.carid.com has one, but I'm still a little leary of buying one online.

    Hello Keyman2,
Thanks for the info. Will give it a try in the next couple of weeks. The Indigo Blue looks NOTHING like it does online. It's a deep purplish blue. Some hate it, I love it and by far, it's my first and only choice. I will wait if I have to, maybe even til the turbo comes out.
  • larry134larry134 Member Posts: 40
Is the $45 for a set of 4.?

Yes, I have. It's a really interesting color because it seems to change when you look at it under different lighting conditions. Sometimes it looks blue/green, sometimes almost black.

I don't think they will beat or even meet that price as it is close to $2500 below MSRP
( http://www.hyundaiusa.com/build-your-hyundai/?vehicle=sonata&year=2011) but it won't hurt to ask. If you call ask for Bob Awn in sales.

Coincidently I was at Atlantic 2 weeks ago and saw the red SE with moonroof and Nav pkg in the showroom and they wanted $2500+ for it as a cash deal. I paid close to your price without Nav/Roof pkg at Huntington but I had a trade of a 2006 Sonata.

I have ordered an aftermarket strut bar from Shark Racing to help improve handling even more.

Has anyone (or the car magazines) measured skid pad G's before and after installing strut bars?

Seems to me they wouldn't help a modern car with a super stiff body design very much.

I have a Pacific Blue and that is very true...At different times you can see dark blue, dark green, black...Its like getting 3 colors in 1! ;)

Seriously though its a great color, probably as not as "classy" as others..Gives it more of an aggressive look IMO.

The original poster TCizzler added it onto his GLS and said that it made a major improvement, even more so than his previous Subaru. He said "it is like night and day in the Sonata GLS as far as handling"..

The SE already handles very well but it wouldn't hurt to have a semi-flexible steel bar to absorb even more of what little body lean is left. I will give the seat-of-my-pants review when it comes in the mail, unfortunately I don't have any measuring equipment other than the speeds I can hit the turns on my local mountains. I doubt any autorags will do a comparison of an aftermarket improvement.

I may have resolved the issue of the glove box noise. I unlatched the glove box door and moved it up and down several times. I noticed a sound coming from the hinge. I then closed the door and - the rattling noise seems to have gone away!

My Black Plum Pearl with NAV and Camel interior came in today. The MSRP was $28200 and I got it for $25500 plus TTL at Vision Hyundai in Rochester N.Y. I also get free oil changes for life. It has floor mats and wheel locks.I ordered it March 19th. They said this is the first car they got with Camel leather interior. If I knew how to post pictures I would.

I live in Savannah,Ga and on my way to the beach on Tybee Island this past weekend I saw an Indigo Blue Sonata. It is a beautiful color kinda looks like the bottom portion of the fire from a cigarette lighter. I once had a 1996 Nissan Altima that same color and they called it Starfire Blue.

Does anyone know where I can get a softcopy (.pdf file) of it? I'm looking for the 2011 Sonata SE user guide if that matters. Thanks.

I already own a Sonata, and it still has 5 years of warranty remaining. I'm in no hurry to buy a new one, that's why I avoided the test drive. ;)

I call that color "azure". It is a beautiful color, just not on a car, in my opinion.

    Hello schdy,
Am I to understand you paid around $23,500 before TTL (minus your trade-in)for your red SE without Nav/roof pkg.at Huntington? That's near MSRP,and that's what I've encountered so far, at least in the Queens and Long Island area. Might have to visit Huntington Hyundai.PS:Did you mean "$25000+" for red SE w/Nav/sunroof at Atlantic?
  • schdyschdy Member Posts: 233
Yes. I apologize for leaving off a zero. My SE came with Homelink,Wheel locks,Mats and IPOD cable. I paid just under $14,000 plus my 2006 Sonata trade for everything incl Tax,Title and plates

I was just reading through the new messages since my last time and found your problem listed, started to respond and then saw you fixed it with what I was going to suggest. Sometimes the latch is a little loose. You may be able to tighten it just a bit. I have not had the same problem with the manual and some other things inside though. Glad you got it fixed.

Out of all the nice features this car has, I am amazed at the tight turning radius it has. My previous Toyota Solara did not turn any where near as tight. If I make a u-turn now, I end up in a closer lane than on the far outside. It's rather incredible for such a large car. It's also much easier to get out of tight spaces. An unexpected benefit.

Nitrofil (supposedly keeps tires from losing air for one year)

If it happens again I'm going to put some weather stripping on the glove box so that when the door closes there will be padding between the front of the glove box and the glove box door.
  • mexjohnmexjohn Member Posts: 74
I don't think you'll have any more problem if the latch is tight, as it seems to be a good fit.

On another note, something that has always bothered me was opening the driver's window just a bit and getting a lot of wind noise. This Sonata is the quietest I have ever had. I was really paying attention last night when I had it opened about 3 inches, and almost no noise! Amazing. It just gets better and better as I learn the car.

I bought a Sonata Limited with ipod connection no wheel locks, carpeted floor mats, (homelink options come standard on the Limited) pin stripes and door and wheel well edge guards ( they call it apperance and protection package) for $24,693 which was OUT THE DOOR PRICE.
  • larry134larry134 Member Posts: 40
Its called aubergine which is the name for eggplant color. The 2008 azura hyundai had this color.

I have had my Sonata for one week now. My gas milage as of today, 125 miles driven, is 23.5 MPG. This number is for 100% city driving. I will give you a update in about a month. By the way, my sonata is the Limited with the automatic trans.
