The TSB for the Glove Box was performed on my car but that never solved the problem. And just like FISH8 has posted, the car will seem fine for a day or two and then creaking sound returns. It seems to be worse in the mornings too when it is cooler. Although being in the Dallas area, it has not gotten really chilly yet.

As I (and a few others) have posted earlier, I have a similar creak. But the underlying conditions seem to be different in my case. My noise is at its worst in hot weather after I turn on the AC. As the incoming air cools there are ticks and creaks emanating for the center stack area. The car can be totally stopped but there will still be an occasional audible tick as the interior cools down.. However, the creak is at its worst when I step on the gas or step on the brakes (and the AC is running). I also notice the creaks when the AC is off, but not nearly as bad. Now that the weather has cooled off here in CO, I don't run the AC and I hardly notice the creaks. During one of the last really hot days of summer, I demo'ed the problem to the Hyundai service manager. But I have not yet asked them to repair it. (I don't relish the idea of having my dash disassembled.) Now with the cooler weather, it is not a good time to investigate the noise. And I am hoping that more people will raise the issue and that there will be a new TSB in time for next summer.

Nope - the spare is a donut so no TPMS there..
  • cincyhoyacincyhoya Member Posts: 10
Yes, it is - should have the same auto-stick as the rest of the line-up (it has same 6 speed auto, so I assume it should have the same shifting mechanism)

How much you wanna bet we'll see that mentioned prominently in one of Hyundai's Super Bowl ads? ;-)

I just bought my 2011 Sonata SE this week and suddenly this morning I noticed that the air bag sensor light won't turn off. Anyone else have this issue? I called my dealership and they want me to bring it in. The problem is that my work ends late and I won't be able to make it between their service hours. Any idea?

My dealership has sevice hours on Saturdays........ Call your dealership and ask them if
they can accommodate you for your situation they should give you a free loaner.

This has been happening to me several times. I lock the car (tried 2 diff ways both door button and using the remote) and 5 min after I walk away the alarm goes off. Today it happened 2x. I even tried not inserting the remote in my pocket to eliminate a coin from touching against it. Sure enough it went off. Can the sensitivity be adjusted or is there a simple explanation.

The spare is monitored by the TPS. I was coming home about a month ago at night in my Limited and the TPS light came on. I pulled over and all tires seemed normal. The next day I checked the manual and It said the spare is also on TPS. I checked the donut and the pressure was about 10 pounds low. I inflated to the recommended presssure, the light went off and has never returned.

    Thank You.
I have the SE so I will check but I assume it should be like yours although I was on another Forum and they said differently. Maybe it is in respect to model GLS,SE,or Limited. Thanks again.

schdy, I think all models are included with the spare being on the TPS. Check page 6-7 of your Owners Manual. Hope this helps.

I'm hearing that Hyundai has delayed the panoramic for the turbo models, is this true? and how long is the delay? Thanks in advance.
  • njgreggnjgregg Member Posts: 39
I have read conflicting stories online. The most recent stated that the panoramic roof was going to be only on the upcoming hybrid model. If that's the case, it's another reason for me to lean towards the Optima SX or the Optima EX with turbo, since both of those models are supposed to have the panoramic roof.

I had a similar problem and it is now fixed. In my case, the hood switch was apparently out of adjustment. The following is from my old post on the issue:

I think my problem was related to hood switch as reported by another poster. I had tried the posted keyfob suggestions with no luck. Yesterday the security alarm went off twice and I had had enough. I drove directly to the dealer and the service manager adjusted the hood switch. It took all of 5 minutes. It is too early to judge, but so far no more false alarms. This switch is located under the hood along the passenger side of the engine compartment. When the hood closes, it depresses this switch. If not adjusted correctly, the switch may only be marginally depressed, and environmental forces (e.g. wind) can trigger the alarm.

If it is the sensor light for the passenger side, then it will not go off unless someone is sitting in the seat just to let you know that that air bag is disabled. Why they would want that to happen I have no idea. Hope this helps. If it is the driver's side airbag then that is something different.
  • targettuningtargettuning Member Posts: 1,371
I am not entirely sure what it is that you have "no idea" about but the passenger airbag is disabled as you say if nobody is occupying that seat and the light is ON and it goes OFF if there is a passenger. It is a warning lamp for the SRS system i.e. if it stays ON with a passenger or stays OFF with no passenger indicating a problem with some part of the system and should be checked. On the other hand, if you don't understand why the airbag should be disabled if there is no passenger well, it isn't needed then and there is no point having it explode into the empty seat incurring further repair costs.
  • tenpin288tenpin288 Member Posts: 804
There is also the occasion where one might have to put a child safety seat in that position and you definitely don't want that air bag going off in that situation! Hence the automatic disabling of that airbag when the minimum weight limit isn't reached.
  • rexgrexg Member Posts: 27
IMHO there is a slight ergonomic oversight with the passinger airbag OFF warning light. At night (with no passenger) the OFF light glows brightly, but the airbag label text is not illuminated. So there is a rather bright amber "OFF" glowing (in contrast to blue everything else) with no visible indicator of what it is that is off. (Perhaps I should get a life....)

There is a known issue with the GPS.Happened when they did the last update # 5 I think and as of 10/30 no fix has been developed. The bug is that the gps will not find a street address although the street is in the database. It appears on the map when you get on the street.

I own a 2006 Sonata. When the gas tank is full it makes a sloshing sound which many people have attributed to a lack of baffles in the gas tank.

Does anyone know if the 2011 Sonata has been corrected in this regard?

I had the same problem of not starting for the past 4 days. So I read all of the not starting problem and printing them up. Call the Service Manager at the dealership, told him the problem. Brought it in the following morning. Gave him the print up about the start problems and he said that someone this morning had the same problem. They replaced the brake light sensor switch. Took about 45 minutes. So far it works good.

My 2011 Sonata was in the shop for 10 days, this being the 5th time it was in the shop for a creaking sound coming from the right front dash area. It sounded as if the dash was flexing with the car and making the noise.

After trying many different things, replacing a strut, tightening connections in the dash, the TSB regarding the Glove Compartment, a Hyundai Factory Engineer was called in to look at the problem.

It turns out that it was indeed body flex causing the creaking and popping I was hearing, espcially during cooler weather.

The passenger side hood mounting bracket was not properly positioned when it was installed at the factory and was actually the source of the sound I was hearing. It was right behind the dash and below the windshield so It sounded like it was in the dash.

Once they loosened the bolt , repositioned the brakcet and tightened the bolt, this resolved the problem completely. It has been 4 days and the car remains absolutely quiet.
  • petdogdfwpetdogdfw Member Posts: 26
I had very annoying creaking and popping sounds which seemed to be coming from the dash in the passenger side of the car. After 5 visits, this was finally determined to be a improperly installed hood mounting bracket that was flexing when the vehicle went over uneven services.
The bracket was removed, repositioned and reinstalled and this absolutely solved the problem.

It just took a lot for them to figure out where the noise was coming from.
  • petdogdfwpetdogdfw Member Posts: 26
They tried this fix on the 2nd of 5 repeated visits to try and solve the creaking, popping and rattling I was experiencing in my car.

Turns out it was a misalinged hood mounting bracket on the passenger side. Once that was removed, re positioned and re installed it solved my noise problems. Even though it was the hood causing noise when the body panels flexed, it sounded like it was in the dash.

A Hyundai factory engineer was called in and then determined the problem and the fix. Now I am very happy with my car.

    Now THAT'S funny.

It's probably an option included in the Happy Leisure Fun Time package, which I just couldn't stretch to.

Anyone have a Samsung Fascinate and can comment on bluetooth compatability with 2011 Sonata SE without Nav pkg.
  • thunderbird62thunderbird62 Member Posts: 1
I have the same problem along with the passengers seat belt warning coming on with no one in the seat. I took it to the deealer and it is a sensor in the bottom of the passengers seat and they have to replace the whole lower seat. Now I have the drivers window intermittently not working and am wondering if it actually is a computer issue instead. Have to wait a couple of weeks for the new seat so will see what happens after that.

For the most part no Samsung phone will connect to Hyundai Bluetooth
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Boy, that would be nice info for Hyundai to let people know upfront. Are you telling us that basically no Samsung phone will work with the bluetooth that comes standard on 2011 Hyundais? Or is it just the phonebook download that doesn't work. If the former, it's a big deal. There are millions of Samsung phones out there.
  • schdyschdy Member Posts: 233
Verizon has assured me that the Samsung will work. The will give me a 30 day window to try it with no restocking fee if if it doesn't. I hope to purchase it Saturday.
    I will post my results.
  • petdogdfwpetdogdfw Member Posts: 26
It probably depends on the model. My samsung works fine with the bluetooth.
  • channyboichannyboi Member Posts: 3
I took my car in Monday and they called me next morning that they were going to work on it. After 20 minutes, it was ready for pickup. This is what my invoice stated.
Concern: "Check and advise customer states that air bag light is on."
Cause: "Checked and tested system and found code B1322."
Correction: "Checked and perform reset and cleared codes and road tested and found to be working to factory specs."
It's been two weeks and seems to be working well. Oh and it was free of charge.

Had this similar problem on my kids '08 Accent & after 2 times at the dealer, problem seems to have gone away. They fixed the problem whatever it was. Great little car.

I bought the Sonata SE 2011 and I like the sills that come wiht the GLS version but no one seems to have any info about getting a set for the car and if they would fit. I assume they are the same size from what they look like. Any info would be appreciated-Also, no one has a repair manual, not even HELM--- :(
  • schdyschdy Member Posts: 233
Purchased the Samsung Fascinate and it paired immediately with my SE Sonata (no Nav). However because I had another phone paired I had to go to the setup and set the Samsung as priority on my car to allow it to automatic connect each time. Without that step I would have to pair it everytime I turned off the car.

    Forget Helms.

    www.hmaservice.com

Set up your account (free, by the way) and you will have access to more about your car than you ever had with Helms. I think it is great that Hyundai puts all this data on a website for their customers. You probably won't find the simple stuff (oil changes, etc) but you can spend a lot of time finding out every detail about your car.

Really great for finding locations of components, torque specs, that sort of thing.

    Happy surfing!
  • chalirebrownchalirebrown Member Posts: 38
Hmm-when I tried to setup the account it never worked, this is going back about three months ago so when i contacted Hyundai, they said that site was only for owners manuals not repair. I like having all the info available like you say and I used to buy all the service manuals for my cars. I'll try again unless you can think of anything else-thanks for the reply

Samsung Alien 2 here. No problem pairing with two different 2011 Sonatas
  • rysterryster Member Posts: 571
Alien 2? Do you mean Alias 2?

My Samsung Alias 2 does not work with my 2011 Sonata GLS (built in April 2010). The phone pairs, but then immediately goes into a loop where it thinks there is an incoming call. The only way to end the loop is to turn the phone off and disconnect it from the Sonata's bluetooth.

If you are successfully pairing and using an Alias 2 with a 2011 Sonata, what is the trim level and build date of the 2011 in which it is working?

Unless it's a coincidence, my horn stopped working after I brought my 2011 Sonata in for the steering recall. When I lock the car with the key fob, it beeps. But I can push the steering wheel as hard as I want and the horn won't work at all. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know if they remove the steering wheel when they perform the steering recall work? I'm guessing it's either a bad connection on the steering wheel or perhaps a lose wire when they worked on the recall. I plan on bringing the car in for repair 11 Nov.

I'm sure they don't remove the steering wheel.
From what I gather, they check some bolts in the steering system and do a software update.
  • bmccallbmccall Member Posts: 9
I wonder if they disconnect wires near the brake pedal. I saw the mechanic working on the floor under the steering wheel. Perhaps it's just a loose connector.
  • caseybrucaseybru Member Posts: 47
The 2011 Sonata has 2 horns. The one for the remote [ B horn ] is situated on the passenger side next to the fire wall. The horns are protected by 2 seperate fuses. I believe the fuses are located in front of the engine on the driver side. The lid of the fuse box lists the fuse and what it protects. Also check your manual for fuse locations. The main horn only blows when you push at the small area marked horn on the steering wheel. I have to take mine in for recall work tomorrow and I live about 120 miles from nearest dealer.
  • bmccallbmccall Member Posts: 9
Thanks for the info on the 2 horns and fuses. I'm bringing the car in on Thur so I'll be curious to find out what it is. The horn used to work before the recall. I'm hoping they don't have to remove the steering wheel (I'm afraid they'll mess-up one of the other buttons that I use all the time, like volume, bluetooth, cruise control, etc.). I don't use the horn much anyway.
  • jlflemmonsjlflemmons Member Posts: 2,242
I'm not sure why this isn't working for you. I just went to the hmaservice website and set up a second account in my wife's name, and it worked perfectly?

When you get to the option for organization name (or something like that) use some sort of name like "Home CarShop" or something. That is the only thing I can think of that might not give you full access. I have operated a hobby repair shop for years and just put in the name of the operation and got full access.
