Hello Car Man/Kirstie:

I'm in the market now for a new 2004 Mazda6. Can I expect to factor in any incentives/rebates while negotiating on what could be a killer deal for a new 2004 Mazda6?
I could very well purchase in the next few days, so any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!

My local Ford dealer has two F-250 super cabs and two F-350 super cabs. All four are the 2004 model. From my research, it looks like customer rebates are the same for 04 and 05 models, with V10 engines. Is their any dealer cash for the 04 models?

Hello lucashandelsma. At lease signing, consumers are typically required to pay their vehicle's first month's payment, a security deposit equivalent to that payment rounded up to the nearest $25 or $50 increment, the lease acquisition fee that is charged by the bank that they are leasing through (Nissan charges one of $550 in most states), and any required state taxes and fees. Hi dda73. Mazda dealers probably do not have too many 2004 Mazda6 models left in inventory. The last time that I saw the incentives on this car, Mazda was providing $3,000 customer cash on the 2004 Mazda6 Sedan. Dealers probably were paid out at least that much for any '04 models that they had left in inventory at a certain point. If I was in the market for this car, I would shoot for at least $3,000 below invoice on it.

Hi,

New to this forum. Have a big question. GMC Yukon ordered last month. Incentives for that program were $4000 altogether plus another $4000 I got off sticker, plus a GM family discount of 5% of sticker. So I'm almost $13000 off MSRP now. BUT, the truck isn't here yet. It will be here later this week. On May 3, tomorrow, new incentives come down. I could lose or gain. Dealer will let me sign docs today for delivery. Need to know whether anyone has info on May 3 incentives from GM. I would love to get the money and 0% financing. Anyone know what GM will do tomorrow?

Welcome erky. Unfortunately, I have not seen the details of GM's new May incentives yet, nor will I until they are officially published by General Motors tomorrow. To be honest with you, I doubt that most dealers even have an idea of what the May program will be like at this point. Manufacturers usually do not leak the details of future programs to dealers because if a more attractive program was going to be introduced the dealers would just hold off on registering a number of sales until May so that they could take advantage of the more generous offers. I personally don't think that you risk losing much by waiting until May to sign because I expect GM's total cash on the 2005 GMC Yukon to be at least $4,000 next month, but as I said it is difficult to say for certain. If it was me, I'd probably roll the dice.

Hello volvobuyer1. In April, Volvo was providing $3,500 dealer cash on 2005 S60 T5 and R models, $4,500 on base S60 models without any options, and $2,500 on all other S60 models. However, this program was only scheduled to run through today, May 2nd. I should be able to give you an idea of what the new May incentives on this car are like if you post a quick reminder in this discussion for me in a few days.

But do you really believe that a 2005 would be a better deal than remaining new 2004s at this point? I don't think so...especially with Car_Man's input of a possible 3,000 off invoice...do you believe I could strike a better deal off a 2005? :confuse:

Also, the rebates and incentives for the "Mazda on the Move" expired yesterday...any new incentives soon?

It isn't that the '05 will be cheaper upfront than the '04... Just that the difference won't be enough to make up for having a year older car at trade-in time..

If you plan on driving it for 9-10 years, then by all means, get the '04, as resale won't matter... neither one of them will be worth much by then..

But, if you are the typical buyer that trades every 3 years or more, then you'll give back any savings at trade-in time..

The biggest is a 6 speed automatic on V6 models. I think the '04s only had a 4 speed? Not sure what else there is, but if you're looking at a V6 auto you should take that into consideration as well.

If I get the GM Employee discount is that the lowest possible price or can I typically negotiate for a little more? Is it worth going to several dealers to shop for the better price if I have a GM employee discount?

Hey dda73. I agree with what Terry said in his previous post. Unless there is a huge difference between the price that you would have to pay for a 2004 Mazda6 and the price that you would have to pay for an equivalent '05 model, you probably would be better off going with the '05. A 2004 model has already experienced quite a bit of depreciation given the fact that many 2006 models are already on dealers' lots. In May Mazda is providing $1,500 in cash incentives (it is split between customer and dealer cash) on the 2005 Mazda6. If there is only a $1,500 difference or so in price between the '04 and '05 model, I personally would probably go with the '05. For a couple thou I would take a close look at the '04 model though.

I have seen Saab's and Volkswagen's new May incentives, teflon80, and I would be more than happy to give you an idea of what they are like if you tell me which models you are considering purchasing.

As far as GM's Employee Purchase program goes, it is an excellent deal. You will not be able to negotiate a lower selling price on your own than you would be able to get through this program.

We are looking into purchasing a Chrysler Town and Country Touring model with DVD entertainment, Side curtains airbags, 6 CD changer and leather package. We received quotes yesterday and the dealers all stated that they were still bale to use the same incentives that expired on May 2nd. Can they do that? I noticed that they still have the $2500 rebate but it looks like the $1000 incentive is gone. The dealer quoted me $23,735 which included $3500 in rebates. Can they stick to that price with rebates even though the $1000 rebate expired?

....I'm beginning to see your point. It was a bit hard to me to figure out at first, since I don't trade in after only a couple of years; I'm usually in for the long haul. I'm in contact with a couple of dealers now, one of which still has a couple of 04's on the lot. As of today, this dealer still seems to be going w/3000 in rebate + 1000 MAC bonus on '05s (does this sound kosher?) as well as 1% over invoice (I think I can do better, don't you? How far should I haggle with price before applying R's&I's?). Based on the type of quotes I get btwn an 04 and an 05 (looking at the 5-door model, i or s as long as it's MT w/ a sunroof), I may go ahead w/the 05....OH! Another thing is my co. is part of some buyer's edge partnership...will this affect the application of rebates and incentives? Would I be better off neg. on my own w/o the buyer's edge?

The reason why you were told that you can still use the April incentives that were available on the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country this month is because DaimlerChrysler's May program for it is very similar. Right now it is offering 0% financing for up to 5 years plus $1,000 Chrysler Financial bonus cash or $2,500 customer cash on this van. Like last month, DaimlerChrysler is running a dealer stairstep program on its minivans that gives dealers the opportunity to earn up to $1,000 dealer cash per unit. The exact amount of money that dealers receive depends upon the percentage of a predetermined sales goal that they achieve. Most dealers will probably get back around $500 per vehicle through this program. New for this month, is a program that provides dealers with a $2,000 bonus for models that they have had on their lots since June 30th of last year. If you can find a leftover 2005 or 2004 Town & Country that has been sitting around for a while you may be able to get a heck of a deal on it.

Like on the Chrysler Town & Country, DaimlerChrysler is running a program that provides dealers with a $2,000 bonus for models that they have had on their lots since June 30th of last year. If you can find a leftover 2005 or 2004 Grand Cherokee that has been sitting around for a while you may be able to get a heck of a deal on it.

I am not all that familiar with the Buyer's Edge program, but it should not have any impact upon the incentives that are available on this car.

Teflon80, Volkswagen's dealer cash on the Passat is a little different this month. It varies from $500 to $2,000 depending upon the trim level. If you let me know exactly which Passat you want, I can tell you the exact dealer cash that is available on it in May.

Car_Man: As always, you are VERY helpful and informative. I received a VERY COMPETITIVE quote from a local Dealer. When other dealers were calling me back and I advised them of the price the dealer had given me, they did mention the $2000 incentive for T & C's that have been on their lots for awhile. Do you see anything wrong with a '05 (in my case) if it has been on their lot for that long? The deal I got has other dealers saying WOW....literally!!!! The price for a loaded Touring is below the price of their basic T & C LX model. It's a deal I couldn't pass up. Thanks again...you're the best!!

Anybody here could account why Ford can afford to slash their MSRP prices on their Expeditions by almost 10-11K. Are there any incentives to the dealer aside from the 2,500 offered to the customers. I know there is an incentive for Ford financing but it's only a thousand. Hope somebody here knows...

Carman...Can you explain to me the rebates and incentives or reduced financing currently offered on the Envoy XL Denali? I see a $1000 bonus cash, $3000 Customer Cash and reduced financing. What can and can't be used to together and what is the best way to go? I will qualify for the best credit b/c I have a great beacon score. Also, do you think I should wait for the incentives to get better? Thanks for your help.

According to the latest information that I have seen, Volkswagen is providing $1,500 dealer cash or 1.9% financing for up to 4 years and 2.9% for 5 years on the 2005 Passat GL and GLS 1.8T Sedans. Saab is providing $2,000 bonus cash and $2,000 dealer cash on purchases (not leases) of the 2005 9-3 Linear Sedan in May.

Taking this cash into account, you probably would be able to purchase one for below invoice. I am not personally all that familiar with what the market is like for this truck right now though. I'll gaze into my crystal ball for you, ronmexico. Let's see, the winning lottery numbers - no, the winner of the World Series - no, ahhh here we go Audi's May special financing rates on the 2005 A4. Unfortunately the answer is that there are none. As hard as it is to believe, given the fact that there are very few 2005 A4 models remaining on dealer lots Audi has essentially pulled the plug on its lease and special financing support for this car. Normally when this sort of thing happens the special rates are replaced with dealer cash, but that has not happened with the '05 A4. It's strange that Audi would just leave its dealers hanging like this, but that is exactly what happened. Audi is providing 2.9% financing for 3 years and 4.9% for 4 to 5 years on the 2005.5 A4 if you are interested.

As far as attractive incentives go this month, VW is providing a decent amount of dealer cash on its '05 models now. Honda has a decent level of support on the Accord. DaimlerChrysler has some very attractive deals on vehicles that have been on dealer lots for a while. As usual, Jaguar and Saab have tons of incentives.

In addition to the $2,500 customer cash that Ford is providing on the 2005 Expedition in most areas right now, is is providing an additional $1,000 bonus on Expeditions that are financed or leased through Ford Credit, and another $1,500 bonus on '05 Expeditions that have been on dealer lots since January 3rd or earlier. Let's see, if you were eligible for all of those offers, your cash incentive would total $5,000. That's all that I am aware of as far as cash incentives on this truck.

Hi scottlmcj. I believe that you are talking about a direct mail piece that Chrysler sent out a while ago. Consumers usually can not specifically request to get on the mailing list for such offers, but a very good way to get on the list for future promotions is to request a brochure on a couple of models from Chrysler's Web site. There are a couple of offers on this car that you should be able to get, including $1,000 customer cash and and additional $1,000 bonus if financed through Chrysler Financial on 2005 Crossfire Limited models. Also, if you manage to find a leftover Crossfire Convertible that has been on a dealer's lot since July 1, 2004 or earlier, you can get an additional $2,000 bonus on it.

Hi allibryan. General Motors is currently providing $2,000 to $3,000 customer cash on the 2005 GMC Envoy. The exact amount that is available on it varies depending upon the region that you are in. It sounds like you are in an area that has the $3,000 offer. In addition to this cash, there is $1,000 bonus cash on this truck this month, $4,000 total in your area. In lieu of the cash, you can use the $1,000 bonus cash in conjunction with 0% financing for up to 3 years, 1.9% for 4 years, 2.9% for 5 years, or 3.9% for 6 years in your area. It is difficult to say how much better GMC's incentives will get on this truck than this. It is possible that it will increase its support on the '05 Envoy several months down the line, but there certainly is no guarantee that will happen.

Volvo is providing $2,500 dealer cash on the 2005 S60 2.5T, unless you are talking about a stripped model which has $4,000 on it. Volvo has been providing special financing, dealer cash, and lease support on this model for quite some time.

i got a good price, other dealers wont beat it, but need to get it down another $1k.

20,900 - 1k hotbutton cash plus the low interest rate but i'm slightly under on my trade and i need the van.

JSYARUSS: I just picked up a Volvo S60R. $780.00 to drive the car off the lot ( includes 1st month & reg) $500.00 a month 36 month lease 12K a year. The dealer gave me a tire & rim warranty for 48 months no charge & AAA midatlantic is still offering a $500.00 rebate for all members who purchase or lease a Volvo. Sticker was over 43K. Had to lease with Chase to take advantage of Volvo incentives. Please let me know if you need more info on the car or my lease to help you in your search. BTW: Thanks Car_man for your help with my lease.
