Anyway, I was interested in purchasing only. I finally made my deal at Linden VW in Linden, NJ. I also visited Reydel VW in Edison; good stock (big VW dealership!)but they seemed a bit rigid on the pricing - maybe it was just the salesman I had.
Good luck in yr search..
What would be a fair deal on a GLS V6, w/o leather, but with luxury, monsoon, and cold weather packages?
Anyone buy one in the DC area?
Is TOYOTA coming out ith a new shape for this car later this yr.

I would love to buy a new Passat. Has anyone had a good experience with VW dealers in Central Florida (like Orlando or Tampa or Jacksonville)? Also, do you think I can get the competitive prices on the 2001.5 like I've read about here?
Thanks,
Check out vwvortex.com under the Passat forum for other examples of well-prepared shopping.
Thanks for the information! I've seen good things posted about Rusty Wallace overall.
Would you mind sharing what model and options you bought along with pricing tips?
Thanks!
Did you ever get a Passat yet?
Bill
2001.5 V6 Silver
And, just one minute here--I thought that you bought that Passat for a relative?!
If so, maybe you should drop that "cute li'l sig"--you wouldn't want people to think that you are an innocent VW enthusiast, and forget that you're a big bad dealer

VW has provided us with some dealer incentives to move the old body style which has made this possible. However, the incentives are only available to us till the end of Feb. I look forward to being able assist you with your purchase decision. Sincerely, Murali Narendran Internet Manager Rusty wallis VW

Our new internet pricing on all in stock 2001 Passats is $1750 below dealer invoice. VW has provided us with some dealer incentives to move the old body style which has made this possible. However, the incentives are only available to us till the end of Feb. I look forward to being able assist you with your purchase decision. Sincerely, Murali Narendran Internet Manager Rusty wallis VW
Any advice would be appreciated.
I do like the cars. Would you rather I posted the whole fleet on here?
Bill
The car dealer, who apparently sacrifices virgins at the altar, steals candy from babies, rigs ballot boxes, changes the weather, causes swarms of locusts to appear, causes droughts, is responsible for the other plauges of Egypt, most wars, and trains people to drive in the left lane holding up traffic and aggravating everyone.
If you live in the south east area, I highly sudgest that you contact Brandon Carson At Schumacher VW @ (561)312-9562. He was very helpful In assisting me in my VW purchase.
only to 5 Speed Cars...Jetta, Beetle, Passat, etc.
and 2001 MY cars. The $1000 Incentive money applies only to 2001 Passats; not 2001.5, and with the Passat the dealer can only
provide you with one or the other...You can get the Rate or the
Discount, but not both...
Thanks,
wirth1
You can check out www.scottvw.com for the new color palette. They are really nice!
My congrats to anyone making a deal on the new 2001.5 .
I have my eyes on a GLX auto. The dealers in my area (Northern Calif) will NOT budge from MSRP.
Regards, Yaeyah
You say, yaeyah, that the dealers in Northern California are not willing to sell 2001.5 Passats for below MSRP (booooo!!). BUT, what if I and others who are interested in buying a Passat in the near future were to send you $1 for every day that you WAIT to purchase your car. That way, you'd make a few bucks AND demand would decrease, driving DOWN prices across the country! Maybe I will wind up sending you $20 (or maybe $38, who knows)--BUT, if the net effect is a savings of hundreds (or even thousands) for me, than it is certainly worth it. And, if 20 people were to send you one dollar per day, you could accumulate enough for an optional cd-changer in just a few short weeks!!!
Now, how to make this work?...I suspect that all kinds of people will come out of the woodwork and claim that they have "already waited for two weeks to buy one, so could I please send them 15 bucks..." ! You can see how this could quickly degenerate into GREED--But please, people, let's not become like the dealers!!! To business:
1) We will need to divide the country into about 20 zones.
2) We will need to determine who will send the dollars to whom--but women and children should be first (wait, scratch that, that's only when there's limited room in the lifeboats!).
3) Those in states where Passats are already at dealerships are in a position to benefit the most--so we will need to institute a complicated "holdback" system, whereby those who receive in excess of $500 will need to send monies back to the Passat Pool (or PP)--this pool will be overseen and administered by me
4) Those intending to buy a Passat will need to register by this Friday--otherwise you will be placed on a waiting list and promised the next available slot. Higher slots will be available at a "slot suggested retail price," or SSRP
5) If dealers in one area of the country refuse to lower their prices, than those who have received monies will allocate 20% of their receipts to hire homeless people and Daewoo owners to picket outside said dealerships and kick up a fuss.
6) Everyone who is able to buy a Passat at a reasonable price within a few weeks will be required to give free rides to those who are still waiting--in the following manner: Those who paid Invoice--20 free rides, $250 over invoice--15 rides, $500 over invoice--10 rides, etc.
This new Passat program, (which has received some support from the German division of VW--they think American dealers are "way too greedy"), may appear to be complicated--but it really isn't! (But all sugestions are welcome...)
We can do this!! Let's work together for a new America--where people can buy cars at reasonable prices and have fun and smile more....
I am about as far away from there as one can get.
I believe you asked if you could probably get the
same prices on the 2001.5 that some here had implied were possible...I simply said "probably
not"...If you, too, have found Dealers selling the
New 2001.5 for $500-$600 over Invoice, then I say
good for you...Enjoy the ride; it is a great car..
From what I found, and I am in the car biz here in Orlando, the GLS, particularly the base models and 5-speeds, are the ones that you're going to get the deep discounts on. Anything Silver or the GLXs are going to be tough.
Bill in Bay Hill
PLEASE let me know what kind of deal you work out and where you got your Passat! Someone posted info about a dealership in W. Palm Beach. Where are you shopping now? Also, Jacksonville has O'Steen, but I don't know how flexible with price they are. They still have several 2001s left.
Good luck!

I live in Columbus OH too ... and am interested in Passat. Could you please let me know your experiences with local dealers ? Will really appreciate.
Thanks
Thanks!!!
MAG is a very nice car buying experience - low pressure and very competent sales people. I would highly recommend that you speak to Chad Simpkins. If you saw JaneyLee's previous post she got an excellent deal on a GLX at MAG. My impression has always been that MAG has to gouge to make up for all that overhead but obviously Janey's deal isn't consistent with that belief.
No problems with Byers at all but it's the furthest from me so I haven't had much interaction with them.
The guy at Hatfield refused to give me a quote over the phone because they wanted me on the lot "to prove I was serious" whatever that means. Later in the call he decided that it was okay to give me a quote... but he quoted the MSRP less my down payment. Nice.
An alternative I'd recommend: Bill Marine VW in Springfield. I was looking for a particular color/feature configuration and I stumbled across them when I was browsing inventories on vw.com. The sales manager there has been excellent about doing business via email and over the phone. No nonesense. If we make a deal they'll deliver the car to me. You might want to give them a shot. Mike Cornish is the sales manager: bill.marine@prodigy.net or 937 325 7091.
Good luck.
I dealt with Art Smith at Wyoming Valley Motors (near Wilkes Barre, PA).
However, the VW advertising blitz is scheduled to start mid-month, so the situation may change rapidly if interest skyrockets. If it does change, just remember to be patient, and you will continue to be satisfied with your VW.
Any news from owners out there on their satisfaction with the car itself? Any quirks or problems?
Jason
Does anyone have any experience with purchasing a Passat at either of the Ellis (Marietta /Chamblee) or Heritage/Dwight Harrison?
I'm curious if they worked with you on pricing or if they stuck to their guns.
Already visited Ellis-Chamblee and the salesman was very low key - very nice but we never negotiated $$$... and that's when most dealers' Tasmanian Devil comes out.
Thanks in advance...
I'm about to take the plunge on a GLS, and I know that the "old" models can be had at a better price (if available). However, I may be willing to pay for the newer model, but unless they're side-by-side on the lot, how can I be sure which model I'm negotiating for? A code on the sticker? A definite difference in the console?
Also, what's the story on a big ad campaign starting this week? Here in Tucson, the one dealer hasn't even been advertising new WV's at all recently, only used cars. Doesn't speak well for my ability to drive a hard bargain, does it?

new frontend configuration, and if you miss those
things...the new VIN starts out WVWP...Good Luck!
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
The contract says the price on the car was invoice plus $546 ($28,400), but they completely waived their dealer prep fee which is pre-printed on the contract at $499. If you assume that I would have talked them down to $200 on the dealer fee, then I paid invoice plus $346 on the car. I was very pleased, to say the least, although it took some work.
In the interest of full disclosure, I should add that I also paid $385 for the 6CD changer and $129 for tinting. I hope those are good prices - I think they are.
If anyone is interested in my "secret" strategy, I'll be glad to share, although I may want to wait till I take delivery next week so I don't jinx anything! The car is already on the way to the dealer and I have a VIN on the contract. Still, I'd hate to see a "mix-up" where they sell the car to someone else who offers more than they should.
This was not a fluke - one other dealer offered me invoice plus 3% (with a $200 dealer fee) and another offered invoice plus $500 (with no dealer fee at first, then when I double-checked they said they forgot and needed to charge $200).
The dealer would not budge on the Masterguard extended warranty pricing - said it was illegal in Florida, so I didn't make a decision on the extended warranty yet.
As far as I know, a "dealer's prep fee" of $499 is about $499 too high. In a perfect world, the negotiated price should include all dealer expenses--the negotiated price SHOULD be "the out-the-door, end-of-story, zzziipppp price." Instead, dealers seem to want to type things onto the contract and pretend like they're standard...
What else have people seen? I've heard of the port prep fee and the floor plan fee--for a total of about $125 extra...
