Darn. Hope I didn’t miss my only shot to clean up on the RDX!

How do you think I feel? My Genny will be 5 years old in June and fully paid off too. Not that the payments are all that much (350 bucks a month). Putting that money in the bank ain't gonna be much fun but its better than hearing Mrs. j start talking about a dining room suite again like she mentioned a few weeks ago. Yep, there are worse things than not getting a new car. :'(

You still haven’t bought her the dining room suite? Has she banned you to the dog house?
She needs him to BUILD the dog house 1st. He's not going to build it and then get himself banned there.

I'm not building anything for a while. I'm taking a break now after helping Son #1 with his flip house. He sold it two weeks ago at a very nice profit even before he listed it. Not having a real estate involved really helped with the bottom line. Bad thing is, he wants to do it again but I'm TIRED.

2015 Audi A4 quattro premium plus pretty darn fully loaded with 23,000 miles and a 2,300 dollar quote in CA to repair the rear bumper. New rear bumper and lower diffuser trim piece quoted as it's "cracked at the seam" slightly. Looks wise, no one would guess more than $1,000 damage, but Audi OEM bumpers with parking sensor holes are expensive.

Wonder if I should take the check from their insurance, sell the car, and move on. Midnight blue with beige interior.

San Diego, CA, CAR is still CPO for like another month. Registration is also up for renewal in 2-3 weeks.

Not likely to happen... but possibly considering it as I hate dealing with body shops (even if they can do it in 2 days and the rental is on USAA's tab...).

Yes, by an '05 Camry with dents on every corner in a parking lot (young guy).

I was in the right of way of the parking lot, had just completed my first turn of my 2-point turn to back into the open parking space adjacent to him, when just as I shifted into reverse, and before my camera turned on, he rams into me. I know it'll be 100% his fault as I had the right of way and he was backing up into it. Learned my lesson with the last parking lot snafu.

Backing up into open parking spaces might increase your collision rate into open spaces (as it increases your time exposure), but it does decrease your at-fault chances.

    Learned Friends,
I failed to make a deal today on a car. I posted this in November:

    >> 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT
    >> 104k long miles, beige cloth seats in "ok" shape, clean carfax, charoal gray, roof rack, alloys -- IOW the usual equipment.
    >> Looks clean but not exceptional. Michelin tires with decent tread.

And @qbrozen obliged with "$9500 tops" and added "Auction is $7"

I should mention the miles are 101,700, not 104k, but the rest is as described.
We dealt with the used-car manager of the local Toyota dealer directly, so no back-and-forth.
He wanted $11,500 and wasn't too interested in discussing it.
Supposedly he got it from Manheim [Detroit?] for $8,900 on November 8th.
I'm thinking, really? VIN is 2C4RDGCGXFR658873.

Too bad, it was nice enough, and my buddy would have gone $9,500 on it but at $10+, we agree he's better off buying new.
I'm a little puzzled by this, but minivans are weird. Thought I'd report and close the loop.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and, for those so inclined, Many Punches. You know who you are.

    cheers -mathias

You're only putting slightly above the average mileage on it - is it really worth trading for that reason? If you had said it's out of warranty and you're spooked about possible upcoming repair costs, I'd understand better.

Yes, it’s definitely out of warranty and we’re reaching that point where we will have some costly repairs.

A new staff member arrived from Spain... needs wheels... and this just showed up at my favorite dealer -- sorry for the lousy full-sun picture, but it's better than nothing.

2012 Forester X (or whatever the lowest trim was), foregoing niceties like sunroof or heated seats, or automatic transmission ;) -- it's ye olde 5 speed manual.

127k per the oil change sticker -- I saw it before it was cleaned, and it needed a cleaning, though nothing noxious, just dirt as in dirt from the field... no dog hair, smoke or food smells, anything like that. Does have a couple of door dings, nothing too noticeable.

It cleaned up pretty good, but it's locked, so I could not investigate closely. Goodyear tires, fairly worn. The price seems rather good, almost too good, but of course the light show may be in display on the dash... one should assume it'll need the head gaskets done in any case.

We'll take a look, I reckon. What's it worth in good health?

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year,

    How Special? VERY Special!

Last night a Silver/Beige Automatic 1994 Supra Turbo BAT auction came up on my FB feed. Owner claims it is only "1 of 2" produced in 1994. 1 of 2 because people bought SUPRAS in red, black, dark green, and even white with a Beige interior. But silver/beige SUPRA? No Thank-you.

I drove it this morning and put $500 down, pending a mechanic's check tomorrow. No check engine light, no obvious issues, aside from the most awful racket upon startup from the starter/engine after sitting a bit.

It calms right down, though. A little more road noise than my 2014 Outback, but otherwise very familiar. BTW I'm not sure about the cylinder head issue by 2012... I "think" this was mostly solved in the Outback by then, but I know nothing about the Forester engines. The transmission is the older 5sp unit, not the later 6MT. Both work OK, neither is a treat.

I shall report after the checkup.
    Thanks -m

I prefer the M235 in Estoril Blue over Black or Gray over Coral Red. Just my personal preferences.

I've seen a few without HK but the majority do have it. There's 2 Estoril Blue in Ohio. One in Cleveland and this one is in @kyfdx s backyard.
