Car's probably only worth $3-4,000 to a dealer.
I'd try and sell it privately.
These cars have mileage in the teens.
30k cars are running in the $15-16k territory.
I'd ask around $10,000 for starters.
Say $9995 OBO.
In August, who knows.
Above $13,600
Average $11,800
Below $10,000
...for 43,000 miles.

Is this likely the negotiating ploy I believe it to be -- or are used cars not moving?

wondered what the ACTUAL REAL WORLD TRADE-IN VALUE is to a Dealership,
such as Ford might be? The vehicle condition is excellant and maintenance records
are available and have been regular as required.
Does anyone have any recent experience?
This is an old, old story: poor resale value of saabs--if people look at the repair records on CR, they get turned off. And no warranty left?
But yours has really low miles. I'm not an expert, but I'd say take good pics, & put it on CL, maybe ebay? etc. for......$5495-ish?. The low miles could sell it for someone with $5-$6K to spend.....

On your other question - from what I can see (and I'm not a dealer), the market is in fact slow as people are, rightly, scared at present.

I hope this is helpful in obtaining the REAL WORLD TRADE-IN
VALUE as it seems Dealerships are very "soft" on what they'll
give you even a well maintained SUV such as mine!
People are willing to buy SUV's but the price has to be right.
Especially on domestic SUV's.
Your truck should bring @ $16,000 on a trade.
Few dealers and few retail buyers make for a weak market for the car.
One reason Honda's and Toyota's do well is because you have widespread interest in the product. Both at the dealer and customer level.
A dealer will probably be in the $15-16,000 range on this car.
Why the suddden urge for a Hybrid?
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
but I've heard that auction commitment levels on these type SUV's
have taken a "nose dive," so I've kinda been expecting the worse-
case-scenario,.....possibly no more than $14-$15K,....but I have
no basis/facts for that.
I'm noticing lots of Explorers for sale, both '06/'07 and many are priced
in the $15-$20K range with less than 30,000 miles, however many
are 6 cylindar and I was hoping the 8 cylindar might bring in a
little more. On used SUV's dealers try to make as much as
$3-$5K per sale so that leaves a lot of room for their real buy-price
to be much lower at auction, thus trade-in will be impacted too.
My feeling is the Trade-In offer from a Dealer will be at/near what the
Auction Prices are at present and I know Dealership Lots are loaded
with "repos," therefore auction prices are likely cratering,....but I'm
just guessing.
All I'm looking for is some current advice based on something that
happened recently with someone else trading in a low mileage '07
V8 Ford Explorer "Eddie Bauer (4WD).
Can you say why you think this is so?

As someone said, I'm looking at the auction values.
Even if a dealer isn't going to take the car to ayction, he'ss gonna look at the values there to make sure he isn't paying too much.
Typically, a dealer want to be at auction price or less on a trade.
Depending on the Carfax and how noticeable the repair work is(ie, are the VIN stickers gone) you could see a drop of $1-3,000

Sorry,,actually it is for my mom ,,not my wife.Sorry for the typo.
The reason is--she finds the odyssey`s road noise really uncomfortable. On highways,,the cabin is very noisy compared to other minivans .Big time buyers remorse,I guess.
She also said that--if a hybrid is not financially wise- she could trade in the odyssey for a Toyota sienna 2007 or 2008 with about less than 20000 miles. She finds the Sienna much more pleasant and comfortable. Is this an acceptable offer to dealers? An equal trade in-- a 2007/2208 Sienna with less than 20k miles for the 2007 2007 Honda odyssey-LX-with 490 miles.I also think that the Odyssey`s resale is better than the Sienna,,so this deal should be workable. So would dealers agree to this?
Thanks for all the info here.
Curious if folks have working Manheim MMR links to share (that don't require login) -- one that I saw here a few days back, that worked then, is now not working -- or any other car-auction links to share. Want to get a look at the info the dealers I'm working with might be using...
You will pay some money for an 08.
2004 Honda Odyssey Ex w/ Rear Entertainment System
Standard V6
42,000 miles
What every Odyssey seems to come in: Silver
No other options besides EX package and DVD sytem
Clean interior with minor stains in the cargo area
Outside is clean, except for a scrape near the power sliding door (common), and some nicks on the rear bumper
Tires are 1,500 miles young
Brakes, not sure, but no issues
Routine maintenance done on the van
No known accidents, but I am the 2nd owner-bought it certified through a Honda Dealer
There's still a market out there for these, right? Gets good gas mileage for such a huge van. Toyota dealer offered to give me 11,000 for it, which I thought was a bit too low?
Am I the wrong one? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
