Its the destination charge of $490+. Add that to the invoice price shown on Edmunds and you'll get the actual Invoice price.

Back to the finance, Capital One is quoting 4.79 and giving 0.20% discount if i buy from thier preferred dealer network. How did you manage to get 4.25 using Costco? Are you an executive member or did you apply for a shorter loan term?
  • vanbuyervanbuyer Member Posts: 33
Yes, I'm an executive member. If you are not, it is worth the upgrade. You have to apply online to get the lower rate offered. I called Capital One directly thru the number provided on the Costco site and asked them for the best rate assuming I have good credit history and assuming a loan term of 4 or 5 years. They quoted me 4.25 over the phone on New Years Eve. I do not know if rates have changed since then. In my opinion, it is better to go to the dealer with a rate and let the dealer beat it, otherwise, the dealer may quote you a higher rate.

I just purchased on Sat. Jan 15 from Westboro Toyota in Westboro, MA for $500 over invoice the XLE AWD Limited with HE (Package 1), including Z1 package and extra set of wireless headphones, all for $36,611. I also bought the Platimum Warranty for $980 (7y/100K/0 deductible). I know that I hear KC Summers is cheapest, but happy overall with deal and satisfied with getting OK price on trade-in with 101,000 miles on it (Chrysler T&C Minivan with AWD). Also matched the lowest price I had been offered on a loan during my shopping, so happy to get it all done (had been shopping since November) I signed up and did the deal. First time I've ever done a trade-in. Strange experience, drive in your 5 yr. old car that your worried about because it's getting into old age, and drive home in a brand new highly sought after vehicle that you think you did OK on. I liked the guys here. I shopped a lot of dealers. The internet sales manager is very nice and eventually he hooked me up with a floor salesman who was OK. The business people are OK also. I only had to haggle a bit with the trade-in evaluator, but with both took the haggling in good nature and met each other in the middle (about $700 up from where he started, which took care of my last payment on the vehicle so I was cool). Have fun, I hope I'm not back here on the forums a lot now that I've purchased. But the knowledge gained here was very valuable.

Rarely to be found pkg#8, i could finally locate it at one of the dealers in Northern VA. Settled for a price of$35,400 + tax +tags + proc fee. I was impressed with the nice features it has. Initially was inclined at buying the XLE #7 which I successfully haggled for invoice + 200 because every dealer carried it and also matched with Fitzmall price.

The finance guy was a jerk and tried his best to scare me with the financing and platinum plan. Guys, I would like to share one important thing abt the Platinum Warranty. The fin. guy showed me that thier purchase price for the warranty is $950. Now these guys make anywhere from $1500 - 2000 by selling it at a higher price. I showed him the quote from KC summers and they refused to beleive and match too.

Anyways, I refused the platinum, Toy Finance & auto care also.

Is it worth to take the Auto care because the only thing I found that was good in that was the oil change, everything else was covered by my insurance plan..for e.g. roadside assistance etc.

He also quoted that Toyota has stopped selling Auto care - Premium plan. I think he was evading me all throughout the process and his negative talks boiled my blood.

Anyways.. let me know if the price is good and is it worth taking the Auto Care plan.

    Have a great weekend

    Hello

I need to buy a minivan SOON, I have been hemming and hawing over the sienna and Odyessy for too long. I like both of them but the Sienna is my favorite, I had an earlier Odyessy model from years ago. I am now in an SUV and it's really not a great vehicle when you have 3 kids and all their friends climbing in the car etc. Anyway what I am wondering is what do people think of the fact that the Sienna's front seats do not come out really far for thigh support? I have had some friends comment on this as well and now I am truly confused. I do have some back issues but the Sienna is more comfortable in the back than the 2005 Odyessy. Just wanting to know before I spend big money on Sienna if anyone has had any problem with this. I am of average height 5"8''. Thanks ahead of time.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
I agree - the Sienna seats suffer from 2 problems: the seat cushions are not long enough and (on the driver's side) the front of the seat does not raise up high enough to provide good thigh support. This issue (and arrogant dealers here) stopped me from buying one recently.

That said, on an issue like this, what other people think is beside the point. Buy a vehicle based on your own assessment of your comfort and needs.
  • heywood1heywood1 Member Posts: 851
Having rather long legs, I also agree that the seat bottoms of the Sienna (though much improved from the previous model) could be longer.

However, it has been my experience that this is an endemic problem with Japanese brands in-general.

Is really for sharing prices paid & buying experiences specifically. If you would like to find out how others are fairing as an owner of the Sienna, please be sure and ask in the Toyota Sienna Owners Club. Thanks!

Hi ,i have been offered a price of $25000 on this sienna 2005.It is a walk out price,is it a good buy?

does any one know what a TDA is in the invoice?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Hard to say without fully knowing how the unit is equipped and where the selling store is located.

TDA is short for Toyota Dealer Advertising. It is a fee (which varies by price) on every Toyota that is not reflected in popularly published invoice prices.
  • shjshj Member Posts: 3
    Hi ,

thanks cccompson for your info ,really appreciate it.

so can the TDA be negotiated?

Also what is a whsl financial reserve can it be negotiated?

and does anyone out there know what would be the best walk out price for sienna 8 passsenger,le,pk#1?

does anyone out there have any info about pricing of this car and wgat a good deal would be?

    thanks
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Although many posters here (myself included) consider TDA an unfair addition to invoice, Toyota dealers simply won't budge on it to the best of my knowledge. Not sure what you mean by a wholesale financial reserve.

Although it is not true in my area (Columbus, OH), many here have reported buying Sienna for slightly (1-3%) over invoice plus TDA. Also check with Fitzgerald Toyota in Maryland just outside Washington DC. They have a website (with solid numbers) and offer excellent prices. A few have recently posted here about having a good experience there.

You can name the dealership and city, but no phone numbers, names of salespeople.

    Thanks!

If you can, please name the dealer (and letus know if they have a website)....A bit far from my East Coast home, but I'm sure others are closer.

    Hey cccompson,

Kevinp here. I wanted to say I've enjoyed chatting with you ("welcome to my world") and to all the others, it was definitely a big help. I bought on Jan. 15 (see msg. 5321). My local dealer was actually around Fitzmall prices. I guess they had plenty of holdback (salesman hinted at that after the deal). They took $500 over invoice for XLE Limited AWD with HE Package 1. I decided to forego navigation and purchase that stand-alone.

Good luck. The wife and family love the car and I haven't been able to drive it since the weekend (thanks Hon/Dad, see you later)

I have been reading these forums for quite some time and just started writing in them lately. I am going to be buying either a new Sienna XLE with AWD minivann, new Odyessy or a used (couple of years old at least) Sequoia. I can't afford the Sequoia Limited (which is the one I would want) brand new, however I have my reservations on used cars in general but not out of question. I have 3 kids and a lab that come with us maybe 3 times a year to mountains. I do not tow anything but would help to have four wheel or AWD as we go to Lake Tahoe in Calif a few times a year. Minivan sliding doors are a big plus, Sienna's seats are short under thigh, but Sienna drivers better and I think is nicer looking inside and out based on these 3 cars. Just curious on what people who own both think.Comfort is a big thing as well. Thanks
  • vanbuyervanbuyer Member Posts: 33
I originally thought that I was going to purchase a Honda Pilot, but soon discovered that if the third row of seats are used, there is no room left for storage. I decided to go with a van because I thought it was a better value. I purchased an 05 Sienna XLE over the ODY for several reasons. In my opinion, the interior was nicer, less road noise, Toyota dealers willing to negotiate vs. Honda asking for MSRP. For me, the road noise was a major factor in my decision as well as not wanting VCM on the ODY EX-L. I have not taken the vehicle on a long trip yet, but the seats are very comfortable. I have heard that it may be cheaper to insure a minivan vs. an SUV. Just something else to consider. Should you go with the ODY or Sienna, they are both very nice vehicles and you will have to make your own decision based on your own preferences.

Finally received delivery yesterday on Sienna XLE LTD w/ HO package, arctic frost. $39537 OTD. Doesn't sound as good as the deal on the AWD above, but I'm happy.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Best thing to do is go to Toyota's website and plug in your zipcode. You'll get a list of stores that (at least from my area) extends out at least a couple of hundred miles. Some of the dealer websites will show inventory (and may or may not be accurate). All will have phone numbers listed.

Also, on the Toyota website you can go to the "build your own" section and see if that particular option package is marketed in your region. For reasons known only to Toyota, certain packages are unavailable in certain regions.

Went today to the dealership with the buyers order from another dealer to haggle on the price based on the 3 day low price guarantee. Well, tried to get the price match which I knew the dealer won't agree too but finally got him to throw in some options along with the 2yr Toyota Auto Care warranty. Total of goodies account to $600-700. That makes me happy.
  • vanbuyervanbuyer Member Posts: 33

Got 4.44 thru Capital One using Costco member services.

Do you think the deal I got is a good one?
  • sc_txsc_tx Member Posts: 1
Got an internet quote for an XLE without any package/option for $27800 + ttl (msrp $29620), is this a good price? how much can I go lower? Any suggestion in terms of price negotiation? I found 3 dealers around here has this model. I would not mind go to other cities or near by states.
  • vanbuyervanbuyer Member Posts: 33
I saw an XLE #8 at Fitzmall for $34,364. I do not know if it has the same package as yours. Did you try to get your dealer to match Fitzmall? They probably are less likely to negotiate since package #8 is rare. Sounds like your deal is equal since you got them to throw in the extras.

I'm surprised that your dealer did not try to beat the rate from Capital One.

Hope you are enjoying the vehicle.

So I purchased a 2005 LE AWD with the BI package tonight for $28500. I told the Finance Manager that I could get the Toyota Platinum Warranty for $795 instead of the $1345 ($150 discount if I bought it at the same time) he was offering it for.

He told me he had heard of this dealer, and that the warranty that KC Summers was selling was not going to be honored by Toyota dealerships because it violated Toyota's policies. He said it was more akin to the Gold package, etc, etc, etc. This information apparently came from his training, the Toyota rep, and so forth. The funny thing was, he really did seem fairly honest and didn't push the issue. He gave me the number to Toyota Corporate to ask about the issue and find out for myself. He said that if I wanted to, he would override the normal procedure and still give me the discount if I wanted to buy it.

I still balked, and said I would get back to him. What I would really appreciate knowing is what the experience of people who actually purchased the warranty was - was it the Toyota Platinum? Have you had problems using it?

It seems to me that no matter who sold you the warranty under whatever circumstances, if it's the Toyota Platinum Warranty, it's good regardless. I can't see them saying, "Sorry, we're not going to honor it because you didn't pay enough". What he was insinuating was that it wasn't the bona fide Toyota Platinum Warranty and thus could be rejected.

    Thanks in advance!
  • carbuyer73carbuyer73 Member Posts: 9
The dealer just refused to match the low APR Capital one was providing. Back to negotiating, the dealer knew thet pkg#8 isn't widely available in the region and so earned the premium on it. I am no more thinking abt the price..just getting ready to enjoy my van.

Also, about the warranty, did you buy it from KC Summers?
  • tenpinhatertenpinhater Member Posts: 1
Hi all. thanks to everyone who posted here. I pooled everything I read and made my purchase yesterday. I bought an LE with package 6 or BZ, carpeted floor mats/door sill protector, and wireless headphones for 26,686. After negotiating with 3 dealers, this was the best I could do here on Long Island. Deal was set up through Groove.com, 3% over invoice. 3.69% financing with first payment delayed for six months. Entire process from signing deal to driving out took only 2 hours at Competition Toyota. Love the car, thanks again to all. I also found at the dealer I bought car from that TDA was 398 compared to 500 at two other dealers.

Did you have a good buying experience at Fitzmall? I'm pretty sure I'll buy there (a 7 hr. drive from me) as I haven't had any luck getting my local dealers to come down in their price to match Fitzmall. Fitzmall will sell me a silver 2005 LE FWD with pkg.#5 and options of $119 floor mats and a $25 cargo tote (these port installed options I didn't want)for a little below invoice($25,448) plus my taxes(WV 6%), title, and tags., and "optional dealer processing charge" of $99. That last fee is funny and I will see if I can get them to disregard it since it is "optional"--yeah right--optional to whom??!

Has anyone been able to get Fitzgerald to come down lower than their "delivered internet price" which they say is the absolute "out the door price"? I had them fax me their invoice which looks to me to be $25,588 with the package, options, and destination charge. I also had another DC/MD area competitor fax me their invoice for the same style van with $107 less(unwanted by me)options than on the Fitzmall van. The competitor's price is $26,180. Dealers here in WV are about $1,000 more. As far as I can tell, and I may be wrong, Fitzmall is still making $800-$1300 on this car with the TDA, the WFR and the Dealer Holdback. Just think of what the other dealers make!!!

This forum has been extremely helpful. Any comments and/or advice is appreciated as I haven't made the deal yet.

Finding a good deal in the Seattle/Pacific Northwest area can be difficult. Thanks to the siennaclub.org forum and Edmunds we were able to have a pleasant experience and would like to share our experience with others who want to search for a good deal. Keep in mind that we bought our van at the end of the year, when most dealers would be more likely to deal.

    The good:

    1. Appleway Toyota in Spokane, Washington. We dealt with a sales manager and even though he didn’t have the car we want in stock, he was able to locate several in Oregon and would be able to drop them off at our house. We didn’t even have to go to Spokane to pick up the car. His OTD was the lowest. Spokane’s salestax is 8.2%, which would have saved us a lot of money. Our deal didn’t go through at the last minute due to some confusion on the monorail tax. After we picked up the car due to the long wait at a local dealership, we still contemplated buying a car from Appleway.

    2. Toyota of Puyallup, Puyallup, Washington. We bought a car from this place with the 2nd lowest OTD. Everything was done over the phone and fax. It took us about 3 hours at the dealership because they were quite busy. There was no pressure on the extended warranty or anything else that other people who bought cars in the Seattle area warned us about. They simply informed us of the different options when we signed the paper work. We handed over a cashier check and that was it. They also effectively corrected the problems that we encountered. The washer fluid tank was low when we inspected the vehicle so the salesman took the car to service again to fill it up. A few days after getting the car, we found some rubber plugs that were not installed (common problem). We faxed the owner a letter detailing the problem and to clear up some confusion over the monorail tax. The next day the owner called us back and informed us that they will refund us the monorail tax since new vehicles are not charged the monorail tax and that she re-educated everybody on the issue. (Monorail tax is a new thing for Seattle residents). Their website inventory is fairly up-to-date.

    3. I-5 Toyota, Chehalis, Washington. We found them to be professional, courteous, and honest, true to everything we read about them in the internet. Everything was done over email and phone. The tax rate is Chehalis is 8.1%, which would have saved us some money. It was just that we had a slightly better deal. They called us the last day and asked if we want their car before they shipped it to Spokane and also sent us a follow-up email afterwards to wish us well with our Sienna.

    4. Titus-Wil, Tacoma, Washington. They also offered a good deal. We dealt with them over phone and fax. They just couldn’t come down to our price.

    The so-so

    5. Rodland Toyota, Everett, Washington. They emailed us the vehicle inquiry report for a damaged 2004 vehicle when we specified in our fax that we wanted a 2005 Sienna. We left voicemail messages and also emailed them back. They finally located one they could trade and emailed us, but forgot to include the price in the email. By that time we already sealed the deal.

    6. Tonkin Toyota, Portland, Oregon. The web site is awesome. Everything was done over email on their web site. They were very nice. It’s just that they didn’t have the Sienna in stock and prefer to deal with walk-in customers. Their prices were okay.

    7. Downtown Toyota, Spokane, Washington. They asked us to refax but then we didn’t hear from them. I guess they didn’t have the car we wanted in stock, as indicated on their web site.

    8. Dick Hannah Toyota, Kelso, Washington. Their fax numbers didn’t work at all. This is even after we called them and asked for the fax numbers. When one of us called a few days earlier to get the name and fax number of the fleet manager, nobody gave up their name.

    9. Toyota of Lake City, Seattle, Washington. Emailed us with a number of $2000 under MSRP. We left a message for them and they never got back to us with a better offer.

    10. Toyota of Kirkland, Seattle, Washington. Called us with a number of of around $1500 over invoice. We left a message for them and they never got back to us.

    11. Foothills Toyota, Burlington, Washington. Faxed us a couple of closest configurations in stock. Didn’t have the car that we wanted. Tried to call them but there was no contact info on the fax and the person we faxed to was no longer there, despite that fact that we called earlier to get the correct name and fax number.

    12. Burien Toyota, Burien , Washington. Emailed us that they can go 1.5-2K over invoice. Very non-specific probably because they didn’t have anything we want in stock. When we told them we had better offers, they said that we should take those deals since they won’t let go of any vehicles for less than that.

    13. Wilder Auto, Port Angeles, Washington. Said that they can let go of a Sienna at MSRP. We thanked them.

    14. Bob Ridge Toyota, Renton, Washington. We test drove there twice. They were very nice with the test drives. They handed us the key and made a copy of the driver’s license. They were very honest and said that they could only let go of a Sienna for only $500 under MSRP. We didn’t contact them when we were ready to buy due to their honesty. Besides, they didn’t have anything we want in stock anyway.

    15. Toyota of Seattle, Seattle, Washington. We test drove there while trying to decide between Sienna or Odyssey. Nice salesman for test driving. He pointed out the features of the XLE Limited and said that they are willing to negotiate. When we got back to them later, the salesman and the sales manager we talked to earlier was busy so they passed us on to another salesman who said they wouldn’t negotiate.

    The bad:

    16. Heartland Toyota, Bremeraton, Washington. We read that they have the internet pricing of $1000 over invoice and the deals can be done over phone and fax and they can beat any price, as indicates on their web site. This is totally not true. We emailed them and were told that we have to come in since they “are not a pricing service”. They would provide us with a free latte when we come in. After sending them some posts regarding their internet pricing, we didn’t hear from them for weeks until the slow week after Christmas, then they emailed us a quote for $1000 over invoice and said that we only needed to come in to sign the deal (provided we put up a $500 deposit). When we told them we had better offers they refused to match and beat the other offers. Don’t believe them when they post on their web site that they can beat any price.

    17. Magic Toyota, Lynnwoood, Washington. We got a quote from them through Autobytel for $1000 under MSRP. We replied to their email and never heard from them again.

    18. Broadway Toyota, Portland, Oregon. We didn’t deal with them since we read so many negative things about them on the internet.

    The rest of th

You probably already have a deal lined up sharonden. If not...I would try Greentree Toyota in Southern Indiana. I would not recommend Toyota of Louisville(they play to many games) or Oxmoor Toyota(not willing to deal).Try to get someone to recommend a good salesman for you.I think a good idea is to go into the showroom.Go to where the salesmen offices are. The one that has all the silver stars on the window proclaiming "Salesmen of the Year" Know what you are willing to pay..should go a lot quicker.

The warranty from K.C. Summers is the Toyota Extra Care Platinum Warranty. I got the 7yr/75000/0 Ded for $500. It is honored at any Toyota dealership. Of course I have not used it yet until the factory 3 years are up. But the service departments do not care where you purchased your warranty (or how much you paid for it). It has to be this way. If it wasn't then nobody could move away from where they purchased their car. Say you bought your car and warranty in California and then move to New York, you certainly can't drive back 3000 miles for warranty work.

I got a quoted from a local Toyota dealer in MA for $28,500 for an '05 LE, AWD, BJ package. I wonder what others paid for the same vehicle. I may consider the VIP RS3200 system. Thanks!
  • kevinpkevinp Member Posts: 10
    Hi,

I don't experience with that exact model, as I purchased an XLE Limited AWD with HE package, but I can tell you the MA dealer was $500 over invoice at Westboro Motors (Westboro Toyota/Dodge). Best thing to do is reach them through their internet sales office by going though their website. By the forum rules I'm not allowed to give you names, but the internet sales manager is a great person to work with. He gave me that quote over the phone and honored it. I had worked with him for awhile, starting on the internet, going by for a browse, and then following up via phone. The price I got appears even better than Fitzmall in MD, and certainly better than what Boch Toyota quoted me ($1000 over invoice) and what is listed as lowest upfront price at Autofair (Manchester, NH). Good luck. If you do end up working with Westboro Toyota, mention that a recent customer of theirs who bought a Silver XLE Limited AWD recommended them.

    Regards.

    Ref msg 5348:

I went ahead and called Toyota Financial Services at the behest of the Finance Manager at my dealer, and they of course said that the Toyota Platinum Agreement is valid regardless of what Toyota Dealer you purchase it from. Apparently the Finance Manager was blowing a lot of hot air with references to Tier 1-4, etc. I'm purchasing my warranty from KC Summers for $795...and I'll be showing it to the Finance Manager at Auburn Toyota!

I wouldn't pay more than $800 for a Toyota Platinum 7yr/100K/$0 deductible Agreement at this point in time.

Thanks for your response. This '05 LE AWD is actually for my in-law who is driving an '04 LE FWD. With the record snow fall in recent years in Boston, he considers the LE AWD. He bought his from Wellesley. Toyota ($1800 off MSRP) back in 12/03 while others were offering only $1000 off. I mean $28.5K is like $2400 off MSRP or $760 over the invoice.

    Question:

Is the KC Summers Toyota Platinum Protection Warranty the real deal?

I want to make sure that if I go with them, I'm purchasing a genuine Toyota warranty for 7 yr/100K miles. Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

    Information on our deal:

I purchased a 2005 Sienna XLE Limited in Silver Shadow Pearl with DVD and Nav (package HO#2) with Carpet Floor Mats and Door Sill Protector (package CF). Price before Tax, Title and License was $250 above Toyota invoice, or $35,625 (slightly more than $4000 off the MSRP, before TTL). OTD price was $38,550. Here are details on the deal, using the numbers from the Toyota invoice as a base:

    Base Vehicle $30,350

    HO package 2,978

    CF package 119

    Destination 565

    Holdback 705

    TDA 300

    Wholesale Financial Reserve 352

    Gas 6

    Sub Total $35,375

    Dealer add'l profit 250

    Total before TTL $35,625

    Tax 2,586

    License, Title Fee 294

    Document Prep Fee 45

    Grand Total OTD $38,550

This is the best price that I've seen on this forum for this vehicle, this color, equipped with these packages. I tried to negotiate to a price below the Toyota invoice, but none of the dealers that I was working with would go for it.

The dealership was Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA. They were able to offer us a 4.29% financing option through Bank of America.

Hi I am in New Jersey too. I am looking at the XLE or the XLE Limited in Phanton Grey although I am not too sticky on the color.

I need a lot of help I have been reading all i can and taking good notes. I will be going with my hiusband to purchase the car but I am doing all the research myself. ANd I will probabaly be doing all the negotiating too.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Where did you get your car??? Where do I find out about these packages?

Looks like you got a good deal.

Also anyother input from anyone else would be much appreciated. THANKS. I am a first time buyer and I am pretty clueless and I feel like no matter what I am going to get taken advantage of.

I know it's a little off topic but really appreciate your input to help me to make my decision. My husband and I are debating on Sienna LE or XLE.

We know that we don't want leather. And we will add the traction control package on the model we decide on.

I found that the difference between LE and XLE is around $2800. I figured that sun roof is one of the major difference between these two models. Others features, such as fog light etc may not be that significant. How much does the sun roof cost? $1500? We're in midwest and I know that we won't use it often, maybe rarely use it. The factor that makes me want the sun roof is safety concern. My impression is that sun roof is an additional exit when the vehicle is in danger. We heard that a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids) were in flood and only dad made his way out. A friend also mentioned that he was stuck in flood and he got out of the car from the sun roof. So he thinks sun roof is a safety feature. Does this make sense? I'm leaning toward the sun roof purely based on safety concern.

Are there any other features that make XLE safer than LE?

    Thanks for your input.
