+ TTL.
Back to the finance, Capital One is quoting 4.79 and giving 0.20% discount if i buy from thier preferred dealer network. How did you manage to get 4.25 using Costco? Are you an executive member or did you apply for a shorter loan term?
Kevinp.
The finance guy was a jerk and tried his best to scare me with the financing and platinum plan. Guys, I would like to share one important thing abt the Platinum Warranty. The fin. guy showed me that thier purchase price for the warranty is $950. Now these guys make anywhere from $1500 - 2000 by selling it at a higher price. I showed him the quote from KC summers and they refused to beleive and match too.
Anyways, I refused the platinum, Toy Finance & auto care also.
Is it worth to take the Auto care because the only thing I found that was good in that was the oil change, everything else was covered by my insurance plan..for e.g. roadside assistance etc.
He also quoted that Toyota has stopped selling Auto care - Premium plan. I think he was evading me all throughout the process and his negative talks boiled my blood.
Anyways.. let me know if the price is good and is it worth taking the Auto Care plan.
Have a great weekend
I need to buy a minivan SOON, I have been hemming and hawing over the sienna and Odyessy for too long. I like both of them but the Sienna is my favorite, I had an earlier Odyessy model from years ago. I am now in an SUV and it's really not a great vehicle when you have 3 kids and all their friends climbing in the car etc. Anyway what I am wondering is what do people think of the fact that the Sienna's front seats do not come out really far for thigh support? I have had some friends comment on this as well and now I am truly confused. I do have some back issues but the Sienna is more comfortable in the back than the 2005 Odyessy. Just wanting to know before I spend big money on Sienna if anyone has had any problem with this. I am of average height 5"8''. Thanks ahead of time.
That said, on an issue like this, what other people think is beside the point. Buy a vehicle based on your own assessment of your comfort and needs.
However, it has been my experience that this is an endemic problem with Japanese brands in-general.
does any one know what a TDA is in the invoice?
TDA is short for Toyota Dealer Advertising. It is a fee (which varies by price) on every Toyota that is not reflected in popularly published invoice prices.
thanks cccompson for your info ,really appreciate it.
so can the TDA be negotiated?
Also what is a whsl financial reserve can it be negotiated?
and does anyone out there know what would be the best walk out price for sienna 8 passsenger,le,pk#1?
does anyone out there have any info about pricing of this car and wgat a good deal would be?
thanks
Although it is not true in my area (Columbus, OH), many here have reported buying Sienna for slightly (1-3%) over invoice plus TDA. Also check with Fitzgerald Toyota in Maryland just outside Washington DC. They have a website (with solid numbers) and offer excellent prices. A few have recently posted here about having a good experience there.

Kevinp here. I wanted to say I've enjoyed chatting with you ("welcome to my world") and to all the others, it was definitely a big help. I bought on Jan. 15 (see msg. 5321). My local dealer was actually around Fitzmall prices. I guess they had plenty of holdback (salesman hinted at that after the deal). They took $500 over invoice for XLE Limited AWD with HE Package 1. I decided to forego navigation and purchase that stand-alone.
Good luck. The wife and family love the car and I haven't been able to drive it since the weekend (thanks Hon/Dad, see you later)

Also, on the Toyota website you can go to the "build your own" section and see if that particular option package is marketed in your region. For reasons known only to Toyota, certain packages are unavailable in certain regions.
Do you think the deal I got is a good one?
I'm surprised that your dealer did not try to beat the rate from Capital One.
Hope you are enjoying the vehicle.
He told me he had heard of this dealer, and that the warranty that KC Summers was selling was not going to be honored by Toyota dealerships because it violated Toyota's policies. He said it was more akin to the Gold package, etc, etc, etc. This information apparently came from his training, the Toyota rep, and so forth. The funny thing was, he really did seem fairly honest and didn't push the issue. He gave me the number to Toyota Corporate to ask about the issue and find out for myself. He said that if I wanted to, he would override the normal procedure and still give me the discount if I wanted to buy it.
I still balked, and said I would get back to him. What I would really appreciate knowing is what the experience of people who actually purchased the warranty was - was it the Toyota Platinum? Have you had problems using it?
It seems to me that no matter who sold you the warranty under whatever circumstances, if it's the Toyota Platinum Warranty, it's good regardless. I can't see them saying, "Sorry, we're not going to honor it because you didn't pay enough". What he was insinuating was that it wasn't the bona fide Toyota Platinum Warranty and thus could be rejected.
Thanks in advance!
Also, about the warranty, did you buy it from KC Summers?
Has anyone been able to get Fitzgerald to come down lower than their "delivered internet price" which they say is the absolute "out the door price"? I had them fax me their invoice which looks to me to be $25,588 with the package, options, and destination charge. I also had another DC/MD area competitor fax me their invoice for the same style van with $107 less(unwanted by me)options than on the Fitzmall van. The competitor's price is $26,180. Dealers here in WV are about $1,000 more. As far as I can tell, and I may be wrong, Fitzmall is still making $800-$1300 on this car with the TDA, the WFR and the Dealer Holdback. Just think of what the other dealers make!!!
This forum has been extremely helpful. Any comments and/or advice is appreciated as I haven't made the deal yet.
The good:
1. Appleway Toyota in Spokane, Washington. We dealt with a sales manager and even though he didn’t have the car we want in stock, he was able to locate several in Oregon and would be able to drop them off at our house. We didn’t even have to go to Spokane to pick up the car. His OTD was the lowest. Spokane’s salestax is 8.2%, which would have saved us a lot of money. Our deal didn’t go through at the last minute due to some confusion on the monorail tax. After we picked up the car due to the long wait at a local dealership, we still contemplated buying a car from Appleway.
2. Toyota of Puyallup, Puyallup, Washington. We bought a car from this place with the 2nd lowest OTD. Everything was done over the phone and fax. It took us about 3 hours at the dealership because they were quite busy. There was no pressure on the extended warranty or anything else that other people who bought cars in the Seattle area warned us about. They simply informed us of the different options when we signed the paper work. We handed over a cashier check and that was it. They also effectively corrected the problems that we encountered. The washer fluid tank was low when we inspected the vehicle so the salesman took the car to service again to fill it up. A few days after getting the car, we found some rubber plugs that were not installed (common problem). We faxed the owner a letter detailing the problem and to clear up some confusion over the monorail tax. The next day the owner called us back and informed us that they will refund us the monorail tax since new vehicles are not charged the monorail tax and that she re-educated everybody on the issue. (Monorail tax is a new thing for Seattle residents). Their website inventory is fairly up-to-date.
3. I-5 Toyota, Chehalis, Washington. We found them to be professional, courteous, and honest, true to everything we read about them in the internet. Everything was done over email and phone. The tax rate is Chehalis is 8.1%, which would have saved us some money. It was just that we had a slightly better deal. They called us the last day and asked if we want their car before they shipped it to Spokane and also sent us a follow-up email afterwards to wish us well with our Sienna.
4. Titus-Wil, Tacoma, Washington. They also offered a good deal. We dealt with them over phone and fax. They just couldn’t come down to our price.
The so-so
5. Rodland Toyota, Everett, Washington. They emailed us the vehicle inquiry report for a damaged 2004 vehicle when we specified in our fax that we wanted a 2005 Sienna. We left voicemail messages and also emailed them back. They finally located one they could trade and emailed us, but forgot to include the price in the email. By that time we already sealed the deal.
6. Tonkin Toyota, Portland, Oregon. The web site is awesome. Everything was done over email on their web site. They were very nice. It’s just that they didn’t have the Sienna in stock and prefer to deal with walk-in customers. Their prices were okay.
7. Downtown Toyota, Spokane, Washington. They asked us to refax but then we didn’t hear from them. I guess they didn’t have the car we wanted in stock, as indicated on their web site.
8. Dick Hannah Toyota, Kelso, Washington. Their fax numbers didn’t work at all. This is even after we called them and asked for the fax numbers. When one of us called a few days earlier to get the name and fax number of the fleet manager, nobody gave up their name.
9. Toyota of Lake City, Seattle, Washington. Emailed us with a number of $2000 under MSRP. We left a message for them and they never got back to us with a better offer.
10. Toyota of Kirkland, Seattle, Washington. Called us with a number of of around $1500 over invoice. We left a message for them and they never got back to us.
11. Foothills Toyota, Burlington, Washington. Faxed us a couple of closest configurations in stock. Didn’t have the car that we wanted. Tried to call them but there was no contact info on the fax and the person we faxed to was no longer there, despite that fact that we called earlier to get the correct name and fax number.
12. Burien Toyota, Burien , Washington. Emailed us that they can go 1.5-2K over invoice. Very non-specific probably because they didn’t have anything we want in stock. When we told them we had better offers, they said that we should take those deals since they won’t let go of any vehicles for less than that.
13. Wilder Auto, Port Angeles, Washington. Said that they can let go of a Sienna at MSRP. We thanked them.
14. Bob Ridge Toyota, Renton, Washington. We test drove there twice. They were very nice with the test drives. They handed us the key and made a copy of the driver’s license. They were very honest and said that they could only let go of a Sienna for only $500 under MSRP. We didn’t contact them when we were ready to buy due to their honesty. Besides, they didn’t have anything we want in stock anyway.
15. Toyota of Seattle, Seattle, Washington. We test drove there while trying to decide between Sienna or Odyssey. Nice salesman for test driving. He pointed out the features of the XLE Limited and said that they are willing to negotiate. When we got back to them later, the salesman and the sales manager we talked to earlier was busy so they passed us on to another salesman who said they wouldn’t negotiate.
The bad:
16. Heartland Toyota, Bremeraton, Washington. We read that they have the internet pricing of $1000 over invoice and the deals can be done over phone and fax and they can beat any price, as indicates on their web site. This is totally not true. We emailed them and were told that we have to come in since they “are not a pricing service”. They would provide us with a free latte when we come in. After sending them some posts regarding their internet pricing, we didn’t hear from them for weeks until the slow week after Christmas, then they emailed us a quote for $1000 over invoice and said that we only needed to come in to sign the deal (provided we put up a $500 deposit). When we told them we had better offers they refused to match and beat the other offers. Don’t believe them when they post on their web site that they can beat any price.
17. Magic Toyota, Lynnwoood, Washington. We got a quote from them through Autobytel for $1000 under MSRP. We replied to their email and never heard from them again.
18. Broadway Toyota, Portland, Oregon. We didn’t deal with them since we read so many negative things about them on the internet.
The rest of th
Thanks
I don't experience with that exact model, as I purchased an XLE Limited AWD with HE package, but I can tell you the MA dealer was $500 over invoice at Westboro Motors (Westboro Toyota/Dodge). Best thing to do is reach them through their internet sales office by going though their website. By the forum rules I'm not allowed to give you names, but the internet sales manager is a great person to work with. He gave me that quote over the phone and honored it. I had worked with him for awhile, starting on the internet, going by for a browse, and then following up via phone. The price I got appears even better than Fitzmall in MD, and certainly better than what Boch Toyota quoted me ($1000 over invoice) and what is listed as lowest upfront price at Autofair (Manchester, NH). Good luck. If you do end up working with Westboro Toyota, mention that a recent customer of theirs who bought a Silver XLE Limited AWD recommended them.
Regards.
I went ahead and called Toyota Financial Services at the behest of the Finance Manager at my dealer, and they of course said that the Toyota Platinum Agreement is valid regardless of what Toyota Dealer you purchase it from. Apparently the Finance Manager was blowing a lot of hot air with references to Tier 1-4, etc. I'm purchasing my warranty from KC Summers for $795...and I'll be showing it to the Finance Manager at Auburn Toyota!
I wouldn't pay more than $800 for a Toyota Platinum 7yr/100K/$0 deductible Agreement at this point in time.

Is the KC Summers Toyota Platinum Protection Warranty the real deal?
I want to make sure that if I go with them, I'm purchasing a genuine Toyota warranty for 7 yr/100K miles. Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated.
Information on our deal:
I purchased a 2005 Sienna XLE Limited in Silver Shadow Pearl with DVD and Nav (package HO#2) with Carpet Floor Mats and Door Sill Protector (package CF). Price before Tax, Title and License was $250 above Toyota invoice, or $35,625 (slightly more than $4000 off the MSRP, before TTL). OTD price was $38,550. Here are details on the deal, using the numbers from the Toyota invoice as a base:
Base Vehicle $30,350
HO package 2,978
CF package 119
Destination 565
Holdback 705
TDA 300
Wholesale Financial Reserve 352
Gas 6
Sub Total $35,375
Dealer add'l profit 250
Total before TTL $35,625
Tax 2,586
License, Title Fee 294
Document Prep Fee 45
Grand Total OTD $38,550
This is the best price that I've seen on this forum for this vehicle, this color, equipped with these packages. I tried to negotiate to a price below the Toyota invoice, but none of the dealers that I was working with would go for it.
The dealership was Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA. They were able to offer us a 4.29% financing option through Bank of America.
I need a lot of help I have been reading all i can and taking good notes. I will be going with my hiusband to purchase the car but I am doing all the research myself. ANd I will probabaly be doing all the negotiating too.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Where did you get your car??? Where do I find out about these packages?
Looks like you got a good deal.
Also anyother input from anyone else would be much appreciated. THANKS. I am a first time buyer and I am pretty clueless and I feel like no matter what I am going to get taken advantage of.
We know that we don't want leather. And we will add the traction control package on the model we decide on.
I found that the difference between LE and XLE is around $2800. I figured that sun roof is one of the major difference between these two models. Others features, such as fog light etc may not be that significant. How much does the sun roof cost? $1500? We're in midwest and I know that we won't use it often, maybe rarely use it. The factor that makes me want the sun roof is safety concern. My impression is that sun roof is an additional exit when the vehicle is in danger. We heard that a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids) were in flood and only dad made his way out. A friend also mentioned that he was stuck in flood and he got out of the car from the sun roof. So he thinks sun roof is a safety feature. Does this make sense? I'm leaning toward the sun roof purely based on safety concern.
Are there any other features that make XLE safer than LE?
Thanks for your input.
