I am so glad that you made the call. I was as shocked as you when they gave a price. We met at the Old Saybrook DMV, exit 66 off from 95. Check the DMV website to see all the locations. As far as I could tell Old Saybrook was the closest (about 1h 45m), although there may be one in the Norwich area, which might be the same distance if travelling directly west??? Not sure where you are.

Our appointment was at 1pm on a Sat., the place was packed. It took about an hour for initial paperwork, test drive, and estimate on trade. Than about another hour or so to wait for finance (we were 6th in line and 8 finance guys were working.) Then not quite an hour for the paper work in finance. If you go with kids, they do have a play room that is suitable for toddlers to about 6 or 7-lego table, vcr, and a few other gadget toys. I recommend bringing food/snacks with you, but they do have a vending machine.

Good Luck, if all goes well for you, you may have your Sienna on Wed. That was our time frame, bought Sat. received Wed.

Just reread yourpost, sounds like you are trying to buy and drive on Sat. We had hoped to do that, but couldn't, double check tomake sure that you can. Are you buying sight unseen? If so, consider calling the CT dmv to get tags before you go-not sure if you can, but saves a trip for them and you can go to the dmv of choice.

Which Darcars dealership did you get this deal at and what are the initials of the salesman, if you don't mind.

Nope, no initials of salespeople. NO identifying information, please. That violates the "no soliciting" spirit of our policy.

Read post #5502. It doesn't appear one needs any particular salesperson (or Darcars dealership for that matter). It's all internet pricing + their coupon.
  • notjafonotjafo Member Posts: 63
I want to second the message from emonroe regarding Boch. I also recently finished a similar below invoice purchase of a sienna at Boch, and it was a great dealer experience, and almost too easy. If you know what you want go there and be ready to buy - they seem willing to do whatever is necessary to just move the vehicles.
  • wirelesswireless Member Posts: 47
Where is the internet coupon on the Darcars website? I think they've removed it.

Make sure you don't have a pop-up blocker on. Internet Explorer's blocker will suppress it for example

Looking for advice/experience re XLE package 7 pricing. Also if anyone in SE PA area has opinion on whether AWD is really needed. We are leaning against it. We live in Glen Mills PA so if any one has any info re Wilnington dealers that would be appreciated

I just bought an 05 XLE limited AWD. I chose the limited because my wife wanted the park assist option. You can't get it on any other trim pakage. I load and unload Toyota ships in the port of long beach California and noticed that a CE that I was loading onto the ship had this park assist option. It was bound for Saipan. I guess they will put it on the cheapest models for the Japanese but not for us Americans.

You're not far from Silver Spring, MD. Check out Sienna prices at toyotass.darcars.com. They are hard to beat and advertise their prices on line.
  • novice5novice5 Member Posts: 1
The purpose is share my experience.

I called a Toyota dealer in Boston asked about Sienna LE AWD availability (specific color) and price quote. I was told that they have it in stock.

Next day I went to dealer and agreed on a negotiated price. Then the sales guy mentioned that they do not have the color I wanted but they have another color. I was disappointed but accepted the other color. I was told that I can pickup this sienna in a day time frame.

After all the paperwork is complete and I paid down payment using credit card, this sales guy came back and mentined that the vehicle is not in stock but it may come in a week or two.

I was really angry and asked them to return the deposit and cancelled the offer.

What would you do in my place?

Ignore it (because every one is like that)?
    or Complain it (to whom)?
  • mnommnom Member Posts: 1
    Do not worry novice5.

It is cheap trick to sell any vehicle when they do not have the vehicle in stock. You should write a letter to Toyoto or BBB.org to explain your experience.

I'm not in that rural an area(60 miles north of New York City), but local dealer just won't talk price. Got a call that they would really like to move a few cars by the end of the month. So they are willing to offer to me a Sienna Limited AWD from the sticker price of $42,115 to $38,700 (he said this is their invoice price including a fixed advertising cost)if I buy it by the end of the month. This does not seem to be a good deal.
  • leonardo302leonardo302 Member Posts: 2
I bought my XLE Limited AWD through a friend of a friend here in Southern California for 500 over invoice. The sticker was 41,200 and it was given to me for 37,400. I had to order it because my wife wanted dark blue. After about three months it came in. I couldn't get a deal from any one else. It looks like you are close to invoice but not AT invoice. It looks like they are around 1000 over invoice.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
It's impossible to say how close to invoice the price is without knowing the ad fees being charged. They vary by region.

I found a 2004 Sienna LE with 22000 miles, which is a certified used car. The Toyota dealer is asking $24000. Carfax report is good, but it was a rental agency car for about 9 months (which explains the high mileage). How should I factor this in? If the car is certified, should that the end of the problem? Is $24K a good price for a rental agency car? Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.

  • toyota6toyota6 Member Posts: 8
NO! NO!!NO!!! Do NOT buy a car from a rental agency. Those cars were abused by customers. You can buy 2005 Sienna LE-7 Pkg #6 from BOCH for $25,500. If I were you, I would get new van just $1,500 more.
  • ronnycronnyc Member Posts: 33
    First, THANKS!!!!

BUT...I may not have been clear: The car is from a dealer, not an agency. But the single previous owner was a rental agency.

Does that make a difference? While the car looks and drives wonderfully, I very nervous because of the agency issue.

I would be interested in any 2004 or 2005 LE. What should I be paying for one? I live in NYC, but obviously can get anywhere in the NE, including Philadelphia.

Don't care about leather seats or rear seat DVD players. Am going to use the car to transport camrea equipment and other stuff.

We just leased a 2005 LE with package one for $ 281.28 per month and we paid down $ 1,000.00 which included the first months payment. The van is $ 265.00 and taxes are $ 16.28. The lease is for three years with 12k per year.

    Pretty happy with the deal.

If I were you, I would stay away from this used vehicle. With $24,000, you can buy a new 2005 LE 7 with pkg. #1.

A magazine reporter is hoping to speak with a recent Toyota SUV, pickup or minivan buyer who traded out of a domestic SUV, pickup or minivan. An ideal buyer would be someone who had a GM SUV but now wants to gets a Highlander hybrid to save on gas , or someone who had a Chrysler or Dodge minivan and traded in for a Sienna. Please respond to jfallon@edmunds.com with your daytime phone number and a few words about your choice no later than Tuesday, April 12, 2005.

Yesterday I bought a new Sienna LE 8 passenger and though everything else looks and works fine so far, I noticed a noise (whisling, whining) when I place my foot gently on the accelerator (throttle). If I remove the foot the noise goes away and if I press it a bit more firmly it goes away too. Has anybody else experienced this and if yes, has it been fixed by the dealer. Is this something to be expected due to the drive by wire feature? Any informed response would be greatly appreciated.
By the way I paid $26299.00 + TTL and it has the BZ package. Is this a good price?
  • cappy4103cappy4103 Member Posts: 48
I bought our 2005 Sienna LE with Pkg #6 for $2,200 discount from sticker price. I can't remember what the price was at this time (paperwork is home and I am not). That was the dealer's "no haggle price". It was the end of the month and the dealer wanted to make a sale so they also threw in four molded mudflaps (installed), taped on pin striping and a small container of touch up paint.

For those in the Los Angeles (Calif) area, I found it very difficult to find a dealer with LE option packages 5 or 6. The "standard" LE packages seemed to be 1, 2, 4, and 8. The problem is that we wanted the stability/traction control on the car which is only available on 5, 6, or 8; but we didnt want the entertainment system option package (8) that costs about $2,000 more than 5/6. I called about 10 different dealers. Either none had any with option 5/6 or maybe they had one coming in. I got so frustrated that my wife and I set a deadline that if we didnt find the Sienna we wanted by the next day that we were going to buy the Odyssey. I finally found one dealer in the area Carson Toyota that actually had a few to cars choose from with the options we wanted. I found out that they special order all their cars.

Not only did Caron Toyota carry the color (Mirage Blue) and option (#6) we wanted but they gave us the best price (invoice). It was through their internet/fleet dept and it was a non-negotiable/no-haggle price. BTW, there is a Toyota special 1.9% APR for 36 months available till 4/4 that we took advantage of. Here is what we got (some options we didnt really want but had to take with the car):

    Sienna LE-8 Blue Mirage
    BZ Option (#6)
    CF - floor/cargo mat
DH - dual port towing system
    V5 - security system

    MSRP = $29,610
    Invoice (our price) = $26,477

I have been quoted a price of $30,864 for a 2005 XLE Fwd package #6 with floor mats. Is this a good price?
  • sliprosesliprose Member Posts: 4
I bought a 2005 XLE FWD #6 at Darcars in Silver Spring, MD three weeks ago for $30,044 + $170 mats = $30,214 including freight. The MSRP on this vehicle (excluding mats) was $34,565 and invoice was $30,944. Darcars had the van on their internet site for $30,344 but were offering a coupon for an additional $300 off for a limited time. Looking at this forum, I think that we got a great deal. It seems like prices people are paying are generally higher in areas outside of the Wash DC area, expecially for XLE's. If your $30,864 includes freight, I'd say you're getting a pretty good price.

Ian, we got the van in Kingsport Tennessee and were very satisfied with the dealership. So far we love van, it seems to be well built and it has a lot of nice features.

I bought a XLE w/Pkg 6 and floormats this weekend for $30,220 (- $400 college grad rebate + state sales tax) out the door.

Got it from Darcars in Frederick, MD.

Great experience. Both the salesman and the internet manager were superb. They are professionals in every since of the word. If you deal with the guy I got, you'll know right from the get-go you got the right guy. He is good, real good.

Fitzmall was my second choice. They were about $900 more and fairly straightforward.

As far as other dealers go, I live in NC and the only one that really had anything decent to offer was Toyota of Durham. They are pretty good. It would have still been a couple grand more but if you live in NC and don't want to travel...

Fred Anderson in Raleigh was $5k over Darcars.

A couple of NC dealers basically quoted MSRP, and one even added a charge of $15 for 6 gallons of gas. If you do it over the internet, it has a lot to do with which salesman they parcel out to you.

I'm liking this van. For Japanese brands, I've owned a number of Hondas (although I have a Passat now) but the Odyssey lacked in several areas, most notably comfort.

I've got relatives with Odysseys and they have some of the same complaints about them being uncomfortable. My aunt and uncle actually drive his F150 on trips instead of their Odyssey for that reason.

I might start liking Toyotas a lot. This van is so solid and precise. It has a very high quality feel.

So that's the way it turned out. Just trying to decide what accessories to buy now.

And I'm not so anxious to get my Passat back from my wife either.

I have an offer in New England for the following:

    2005 XLE Limited AWD
option package 2 (DVD and Nav system)
    floormats
    wheel locks

    $38,900 bottom line.

It seems I should be happy with this pricing. Anyone think I shouldn't??

I have bought a 2000 sienna without the original manual. Recently, I found a warning icon (2 arrows pointing to center) appeared many times, even while driving. What is this icon (on the display panel) about? Could you help me? Thanks.

Did I get a good deal?
    2005 LX- 7 Passenger Pkg #7 $26,285
TTL plus dealer fee of $189 are on top of that $26,285 price.

    What do you think?

My buying experience was painless. I bought it at a car show. They matched the Fitz price and were easy to work with.

I'm interested in a specific Sienna and I live in Northern California. When I spoke with a dealer, he said that he didn't have it at his dealership and that there was only one of the kind I wanted at any dealership within an hour's drive. Is there any easy way to figure out which dealership has the car I'm looking for, or do I need to call the 50+ dealerships individually to find out.

    thanx,

    -Joe

Go to Toyota's website and check dealer stock. Unfortunately, it is not as good as GM's BuyPower as store homepages vary. Some show (sometime very specific) inventory and others don't.
  • piratemanpirateman Member Posts: 18
Chaka..not a bad price..you did well. But, I got the exact same for $38,050. However they are the second largest Toyota dealer in the world according to the huge sign in the showroom, therefore they can let vehicles go a little cheaper. They treated me very well. By the way what did you think of the run flat tires? I wasn't aware of the consequences until the purchase was final. I should have made them change them..oh well other than the tires we are very, very (I repeat VERY) happy with this gorgeous piece of machinery.
  • weedshastaweedshasta Member Posts: 85
I live in far northern Calif. Last year I was looking for an XLE AWD with option 18 (very hard to find). I tried about 15 dealers from Medford to Sacramento (phone calls and web sites). Finally I went to Costco.com and put in my specifications. I was called from Hanlee's Toyota in Davis. (They are the Costco dealer in N. Calif but you have to apply through the Costco web site). He gave me a great price over the phone which was even less than carsdirect. He said he didn't have one on the lot but if there was one in N. Calif. he would find it. He called me about a week later. One was located in the bay area. I drove 230 miles to Davis to pick it up - no hassle, no hard sell, in and out in about an hour.
  • chachkaguychachkaguy Member Posts: 4
I have VERY mixed emotions about the run flats and lack of a spare...but I'll reserve judgement for now. I knew going-in about them. Actually, I was amazed by one salesguy (at Toyota of Nashua) who not only didn't know the Sienna Ltd had them, he didn't know what it was!

I think you are referring to the tire low pressure icon. If you look at it now does the icon resemble a tire?
  • kjmsrkjmsr Member Posts: 4
I live in Raleigh and have found that Fred Anderson Toyota isn't interested in discounting more than $500-$1000 off of MSRP. My last two Toyota purchases have been from The Autofinders buying service, but I don't think they will be able to come close to the Darcars deals. I have never purchased a car out of state. How did you handle taxes and plates? Did you drive up or fly - I've found one-way fares for undr $100 to DC or Baltimore but didn't know if the dealer would be willing to pick us up at the airport or how convenient it would be to get to their location from the airport.
  • wirelesswireless Member Posts: 47
Taxes and plates are not complicated. I think if you don't finance, then you don't pay any taxes but since I financed part of the cost to take advantage of the college grad rebate, they said they had to charge NC state tax that would be refunded in a week or two. Don't ask me why but the taxes paid are clearly stated on the paperwork so there's no concern about being asked to pay them twice.

They give you a 60 day temp plate and are supposed to mail me the paperwork that will be needed by NC to get the plate. I suspect I could already since they gave me a temporary registration but I'll just wait on the other stuff.

I drove, rented from Hertz for about $110. I drove directly to the dealership. It was about 300 miles. The Hertz return place (in Frederick) is just a couple miles away and the salesman took me over to drop it off. So, no, that's not a problem.

As far as being picked up at the Airport, you could probably get someone from the dealership to do that if you worked with one of the dealerships in DC. I found a good bit of difference between the internet dept of Darcars in Silver Spring and the one in Frederick. I would advise you to get up to Frederick if you could.

I just purchased a 2005 XLE with package 7 and floor mats in the sf bay area for $32,380 + fees and taxes. Anyone have any feedback on prices they have paid for a similar vehicle in this area?

Also, can one purchase a prepaid maintenance plan from out of state (similar to the extended warranty)? Any good quotes for the 4yr/55k plan?
