    Glad to help. I enjoy this. Here are my thoughts on your numbers. First, the math is incorrect. Here is what I see using your numbers.

    $28,314 (Invoice you were given, I show $29,278 as the invoice, mine probably includes holdback)
    $ 5,063 (Premium Package Invoice)
    $ 198 (Floor Mat Invoice)
    $ 810 (Destination)

    $34,385 (Sub-total for these items)

    $ 3051.67 (Tax)
    $ 550 (Misc Fees)

    $37,986.67 (using your numbers)

    Holdback on this is $644 (you are pretty much spot on with your estimate and you need to add that to the net invoice). They also have regional add fees of roughly $654 factored in for a dealer cost of $35,360 and an invoice they will show you of around $36,003. (link below)

    http://www.truecar.com/Toyota/Sienna/2011/best-price-report-656019BC.html?colorI- nfo=Black,Bisque,6716_001_202.jpg&optionInfo=6667124,6667122,6667115,6667111,678- 6616,6599360&incentiveIds=0&trimId=322660&modelId=20138&zipcode=24541

    If your numbers are correct in what they gave you, I don't think you'll get to $37k OTD. I think you may be able to get to $37.5K with cash in hand ready to go. If the numbers in the link are correct then you will be closer to $38.5k all in OTD.

    The Premium Package adds a lot of cost. You can get the NAV and DVD package as stand-alones too, which can lower your cost. The MSRP on one with NAV, Dual Screen DVD Entertainment Package, Mats would be $39,389 here in NC. If you just want the dual screen DVD, you may want to go that route and save a bit.

    I live in your area (WI). Check my two posts (10715 & 10718) for the deal we got. I highly recommend Heiser Toyota in Milwaukee and Jack Safro Toyota in Brookfield.

    WI laws protect the customer. If you put down $300 and you don't purchase, you will get that money back.

    Let me know if you have any specific questions...
  • madbadger1madbadger1 Member Posts: 13
    Thank you, pax2u. Actually, I sent quotes request to Heiser and Jack Safro, but both dealers quoted the prices were high and unwilling to work with me. So I am not sure what it's the best way to get a good bargain! If you can, please email me the salesman name. Also give me some ideas what price I should ask for.
    XLE FWD with Premium Package , cross bars, mats with sill protectors
    XLE FWD with DVD and NAV cross bars, mats with sill protectors
    Thank you very much.

    Madbadger1: We talked to the salesman @ Heiser about XLE w/ Premium Package. He was willing to match another dealer's internet price of $34,995 (plus TTL). We ended up going with Nav Package, so the Premium package became a moot point for us.
    Please provide your email address and I'll send you his contact information. He was extremely nice to work with! We ended up going with Safro, so it will be good to send someone to Heiser. :)

    Hello, I hope someone here can help me with price quote on 2011 Sienna. This is going to be my first mini-van and first time dealing with Toyota dealers. I'm located in NJ and currently looking at AWD XLE with Navigation only package. I looked through most of recent posts on the board and for the most part the purchases were for the FWD version. I was told by the dealers around here that this particular version of Sienna (AWD XLE with NV only) is not very popular and is difficult to locate. I hope someone here can answer a few questions that I have:

    1) I understand the basic difference between AWD and FWD, but given the weight of Sienna, does it really make that much difference in the winter months in Northeast between the 2 versions? Since Honda Odyssey only comes with FWD version, I'm going to assume AWD is not going to make that much difference on a mini van. Am I wrong to assume that? Is FWD Sienna still safe enough to drive in the winter when it's snowing outside? I read on the board that a few people dislike the run flat tires on AWD because they are expensive. Is that the only downside to the run flat tire and AWD?

    2) The quote I got from Carsdirect.com is $36,414 + TTL and from a dealer is $36500 + TTL. I don't think these are particularly attractive prices. I see on Fitzmall.com it's asking for $35700 + TTL. What should be considered a 'good' price for this car?

    From Carsdirect:
    MSRP: $38,820
    Invoice: $35,714
    Carsdirect Price: $36,414

    The only option I added is the XLE Navigation Package: + $2,681

    Same option priced on Truecar.com
    Dealer cost: $34,829
    Factory Invoice: $35,519
    Average paid: $37,100

    4) A few dealers tried to sway me to go with the Limited version with premium package, but I don't really need the RES. Do you think Limited version is worth the extra price over XLE? At what price point does it make sense to go with Limited edition of Sienna?

    3) Anyone in NJ can recommend a dealership that is honest and easy to deal with?

    Sorry for the long post and thank you all for your help.

    Thanks,

    A very confused first time mini-van buyer.

    Hello,
    This is a great buy. I am also looking for this kind of deal.
    I am also looking into 2011 XLE FWD w/ PM pkg. Could you please clarify whether the $ you paid cash or finance? would you mind sharing the related info. The lowest quote I am getting $35301 + TTL and $34889+TTL in MD, Vs. caldwell in NJ. AM I missing something? I have no previous experience driving/ owning TOYOTA's . Would you briefly share your experience.
    I am also comparing 2010 Honda Odysseys EX-L with DVD and NAVI pkg. The offer I am getting is between $31.5-32.5in Central NJ (inclues Destination and afer $1500 Incentive). I am debating which one is better deal the one on 2011 Vs 2010.
    Can someone help me guide.
    Thanks,

    hello stvroy,
    the price you got looks very good especially with 2 yrs maintenance and 100k mile warranty. can you please tell me which dealer you went? I am looking for 2011 xle with similar configuration with remote start and Lojack program.
    thanks.

    I'm not that familiar with the pricing on the Lojack program. For remote start, add about $400 or so in actual cost.

    Danville Toyota in Danville, VA. We worked with the salesperson in the internet department with the first initial "K". He was extremely easy to deal with and very helpful.

    I got a ltd from Fitzmall at below the dealer cost. They have no haggle prices on their web site, and getting the price is no problem.

    Just put the deposit on a 2011 SE in Gray Mica with:

    SE Preferred Package
    Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof with Sunshade
    Towing Prep Option:
    Carpet Floor Mats/Door Sill Protector

    MSRP was $34,299, I paid $31,142 ($32,532.83 OTD). I feel like I got a good deal.

    Hope this helps someone else negotiate a good deal. I purchased mine from Del Toyota in Thorndale, PA. Worked with the Internet Sales Manager and would highly recommend him. Negotiation was very painless.

    I live in Boston, with frequent travel to upstate New York...I have a 2008 XLE FWD and use snow tires in the winter...I have never had a problem. My next purchase will be FWD as well.

    Hey,

    Just purchased a SIENNA SLX with Premium Package and Carpet with Door Sill protector.

    MSRP $39,528
    INVOICE $36228

    PAID $35900.

    I looked for an SLX with AWD but being in the Southeast they are not very popular and dealers were wanting anywhere from 500-1000 to locate and bring in. The problem I was having was finding the premium package in the SLX. I dont know why anyone would buy a family van without a rear DVD player. Unless your not using it as such. I was pretty suprised to find so many available without one.

    Anyways... I think we got a pretty good deal. I used my local Toyota Dealer to find the car, give me the print out on it. They lied to me and told me it was in Knoxville when in reality it was in cookville, some 120 miles closer to Nashville. I called the dealer and offered 35000 even they came back with 36600. Eventually we settled on a 35900. OTD at 39000 even. My local dealers best price was 36600 on that same vehicle. So my wife and I took the 60 mile drive and saved $700.

    This is my first minivan and this one drives like a cadillac. Very impressive thus far. This is our second new vehicle in 4 years. We last purchased a new Camry SE in 07

    I have an agreement to buy a 2011 Toyota Ltd AWD for $500. over dealer invoice.
    The vehicle is being special ordered. I asked for a copy of the dealer invoice and all
    vehicle and package agree on price with your web site. I was e-mailed a computer printout with no factory identification.
    At the bottom of the printout are several items:
    Destionation Charge $810. (sounds high by probably correct)
    TDA (Dealer Advertising) $500. Seems OK
    Dealer Holdback $799. (why are they charging for this-it seems outrageous)
    Whsl. Financial Reserve $399. I was told it was for dealer floorplanning
    (I'm paying for my car upon delivery-there should not be any finance charge)
    It seems to me that they are trying to charge me for items that do not pertain to me
    and should not be charged to me. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!
  • stvroystvroy Member Posts: 33
    You can get a better deal than $500 over invoice. The $799 holdback is something you can use to your advantage. They are getting holdback plus their Doc fee, so that's $1200+ right there they are making on you.

    Hi, purchased a van yesterday (will post details next week) and they are offering LoJack or the Karr Toyota Security System. Which one is better? They claim the Toyota one is but we like LoJack. Any pros or cons? (purchased the XLE with Premium Package that has security system).
    Thanks!
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
    I don't think the Sienna ranks in the top twenty for auto thefts. Will your insurance company give you an additional discount for aftermarket anti-theft system? I know if my vehicle were stolen, I would not want it back. Just make sure you have gap insurance, just my thoughts.

    Google both Karr and LoJack for owner comments and experiences.
  • MajestykMajestyk Member Posts: 4
    You don't need either, because since you got the premium package you have Toyota Safety Connect. This is just like OnStar and if someone steals your car they can find it and shut it down. Don't let the dealer suck you into buying something you don't need.

    Picked up my Silver Sienna XLE with floormats, door sill protectors, mud flaps, and cross bars.

    Location: Minneapolis, MN

    Details:
    Prices $31087+TTL

    Used email to contact about 10 dealers in this market and surrounding (as far East as Milwaukee). We didn't want an XLE with navigation(my parents have a Lexus and Toyota and the nav is not very good) or rear entertainment (parenting choice on our part). Very rare to find an XLE without a package. Had to wait a few weeks for delivery.

    Price is higher than what has been published in other markets, but I worked it down from over $31,900 which was the lowest quote received in the first round of bidding. Also, dealer offered an additional trade-in value of $1000 compared to what I had received from others once we got into the dealership to negotiate that. Overall pretty happy so far.

    I got Silver LE FWD lease today in San Jose from Stephen Tran at Capitol Toyota.
    I contacted several dealers around San Jose via email.
    This is the best one in this month.

    MF=0.00042 is ~1% APR.

    Price= $27,900
    Residual = $17,151
    Money Factor = .00042 (--> ~1.0% APR)
    Drive Off = $1000
    Monthly payment $ 362/month for 36 months at 12,000 miles

  • minmalminmal Member Posts: 1
    If you are going to a buy extended warranty buy only the manufacturers warranty. They will always honor it. But most of the time it is not needed and not worth it. You can put that 1800 in a bank and wait for the claim to occur.

    I would NEVER buy warranty from credit union or anyone else. They will never honor warranties beyond a certain few hundred dollars. Personal experience! Most of these companies are fly-by-night comanies.

    With the amount of electronics involved in every part of the car now a days, I wouldn't buy a new car with out one!!! I work for Toyota and have seen Siennas come in with a headlight out only to find that it's not just the bulb but the HID controller too and the repair bill comes to $1500 for one light!!! Motorized doors, faulty nav units, window regulators etc... I paid $1200 for 8yrs. 100,000miles well worth it!!! god forbid a solenoid goes in the trans$$$$$

    We are looking for a XLE with the PM (Premium) package.

    Thanks to everyone's tips I've been reading over the past 30 pages, I did some research using Edmunds and Carbuyingtips.com.

    I called a bunch of places around me and got quotes between 36k and 37k plus the TT & doc fee.

    I used Zag and got a quote from a Northern Virginia dealer for $ 35,246 + taxes, tags, processing fee. The quote that Zag originally gave for this dealer was $35,091 which the salesman said he will honor, but he said that the van comes with floor mats and said that msrp for that accessory was $324 but he'll give me those for $154, hence the $35,246 quote. I'm guessing it's the CF package from Toyota's website, since that price matches that item (mats + door sill protector).

    I have a car to trade in, and I know that in Virginia the taxes I pay will be based on the difference in the final price of the Sienna minus my trade in price.

    My brain has been over cooked :sick: since Friday calling places and talking to people over and over again. I thank God that so far, I haven't had to do this kind of stuff as often. I am shopping around and I am hoping someone might match or beat this deal. Can anyone confirm if this is a good deal ? :confuse:

    Thanks a billion in advance for your help.

    Purchased an XLE with premium pkg and car mats, cross bars for 35,200. Went through am express (zag) and that was the lowest I could find.
    I did my research thanks to this board and no way could i get 33,800 for that car in the color that I wanted. I actually found the car is hard to come by in the dark mica with bisque interior. I had been eyeing that car for about 3 months until I finally purchased it.
    So far, I really love the car except when I press on the gas pedal i can hear the gas being guzzled up. Kids love it, I love it, husband will love it too :)
    We are in S. CA. Fitzmall.com is a great resource to see what others are paying and what they are getting also for the price.
    Have to say we almost walked away from the dealer b/c it took forever as in 12 hours over three different days for paperwork and then a glitch but it's done with....
  • fxguyfxguy Member Posts: 132
    Go to Fitzmall.com and look at what they have listed for an XLE with premium package. Use that price as a basis for your negotiation.
  • scorpio10scorpio10 Member Posts: 4
    Received a quote for $33.5K from a dealer in the bay area, CA. I know this is at least $1200 more than the fitzmall price of a similarly equipped van.
    Too bad we don't have fitzmall on this part ofthe coast and the dealers over here do not have a whole lot of inventory.
    Having said that, is this a good price to buy? Also, what's up with Sienna's government crash testing numbers? How come they are still not out?

    Thanks in advance!
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    NHTSA has not done NCAP yet, I think, but IIHS performed several tests and the new Sienna aced all of them.

    It was actually the first minivan to get the Top Safety Pick designation, which now requires them to pass a roof crush resistance test as well.

    Don't let that hold you back...

    1. I agree with elizabethl's post -- winter tires will do a LOT more for safety in the winter than AWD ever will. This means that STOPPING distance will be significantly shorter with winter tires (AWD does nothing more than help you accelerate, which is only helpful if you routinely have to get out of deep snowbanks). Winter (snow) tires will also help you from sliding sideways. AWD is good if you like spirited driving in the winter, such as drifting. I imagine you don't care to do much of that in a minivan. I got the AWD because I am lazy (I used to have a set of winter tires mounted on a separate set of rims so I can swap them out myself on my FWD Mazda, worked well but I don't want to do that anymore).

    I had a bad experience with the run-flat already on a trip to Chicago. Nobody seems to have one on hand when I popped one from a pot hole. If you are away from home, be careful. If you get a leak you may wait several days for your shop/dealer to get one, so your car will just sit until then. For an 18-inch, the price is not that bad (I got $202 each from a big online place; dealer quoted me freaking $280)

    2. I got mine about $500 below invoice in April in New England. I think you should not let that "invoice" number fool you into thinking that the dealer somehow cannot go below that (they still make money off you).

    4. I personally regret very very very much getting the Limited AWD with Prem Pkg (MSRP 45,333, got it for 39,500). I think the van is PHENOMENAL for the LE price point. Anything above that, I personally think the interior quality (or lack thereof) and workmanship overall is disappointing (your example would cost at least $34k, and I don't think it feels like a $34000 vehicle). And I am very disappointed in the navigation system (poor accuracy, slow) so I would also recommend that you at least try out the navigation before you plunk down your hard-earned money on it.

    I just bought an XLE, I was looking for one with no options, and this is close enough. I don't use the cross bars, as I have Yakima and Thule bars from various other vehicles, but it hardly matters. I got a quote very near invoice from Zag, but the dealer didn't actually have one in stock, and they took too long getting back to me about locating one. I went to Fitzmall.com after hearing about it in one of these forums. They had several for $30,134 and $30,155, which are approximately $900 below invoice. I called them, and everything went extremely well. I actually drove 4 hrs in my trade-in vehicle, and the purchase was as advertised, no add'l fees, etc.
    Salesman couldn't have been nicer. Like any dealer, they pushed a bit for extended warranty, anti-theft device, etc., but I had no interest in any of it. I was out the door for exactly what they advertised. It helped that I'm not picky at all about color - they said if I want a specific color, they'd get it, but cost would be $800 higher, which gets you more or less to invoice price. Not bad at all if you insist on a particular color.
    I visited several other Toyota dealers in my area (near NYC) and really didn't get a good vibe at any of them. I had one guy promise to match or beat any price, so I sent him the Fitzmall price, which he said was impossible! Nice promise... He still had the nerve to ask me to come in so we could negotiate a price! Almost funny.

    Hello chucksrt, Do you mean it's better to get extended warranty from the manufactory? What is the normal price the dealer offer? What does it cover? I am still waiting for my XLE + Mats and door sills + cross bars + mudguards + remote engine start for price $30,900.00 + Doc + TTL + TAX. Now I will consider the extra cost of warranty for my van if it's necessary. Thanks for all.
  • chucksrtchucksrt Member Posts: 12
    Aftermarket warranty companies don't even want to offer coverage on a (new) car! Is is actually cheaper to just get the warranty up front when you buy the car. Our warranty list price was $1800 and we got it for $1200. That was for a 8yr. 100,000 mile $0 deductible platinum package.It covers mostly everything that's not a wear item. I can find the break down if needed. Warranties are only a good investment if you need them but if you do have a problem and are not covered then it will most likely cost much more that if you had just gotten the warranty in the first place. Aftermarket warranties are good if you did not get one when new but are more money and do not generally cover as much as the factory extended coverage.

    I think it is the good price. Do you mind sharing the dealer and salesman info?
    I'm also looking for Sienna in Bay Area and cannot go and buy from fitzmall :( .

    Finally bought the minivan over the weekend. Also bought the 2 year service contract for $450 (this is in addition to the 2year service provided by Toyota).

    Here is the breakup:

    Price: $33,700
    Service Contract: $450
    Tax : 3120
    DMV: $550
    OTD: $37885

    Didn't buy the extended warrenty as the dealer didn't offer the Toyota VSA. He was pushing for the warrenty from a non-Toyota company. So, now the search starts for a good extended warranty. Also surpirsingly, the car doesn't have an alarm and the dealer was quoting $500 for it. I am not sure if we need one (as the vehicle has an immobilize buit in) but definitely $500 is a lot of money for the alarm. Appreciate any help deciding on the warranty and geting the basic alarm. Would after marketbe a good chouce?

    This formum has been a lot of help! Thank you!!

    All XLE models come with an alarm. It sounds when the hood is opened or when the doors are opened without a key or remote. What it is missing is the glass breakage sensor. To arm the alarm, just lock the doors. It kicks in after 30 seconds.
  • bellmonsterbellmonster Member Posts: 12
    Don't let them fool you that there is no alarm. They want to sell you an"alarm" package for an extra $500. My husband and our salesperson fought because of this and yes there is an alarm and you get a year of free Onstar (I think) to try it out. I too, almost got fooled into buying an alarm but my husband proved to them that the car's horm will go off if the keyless entry remote is not on him. (this is with premium package).

    Hey guys,

    In the market for either a Sienna or an Odyssey lease. I was quoted by a local dealer for a 2011 Sienna LE V6 8 seater for $450 a month which includes 15K miles/year, warranty coverage for extra 3K miles/year, and remote start. This particular LE includes bluetooth, backup cam, and dual power sliding doors. Just wanted to see whether this is a good deal. Honda is offering killer deals on the 2010 Odyssey to make room for their 2011s. I can probably score an EX-L with Nav for around $470 a month but I like the styling and performance of the Sienna so I wanted to find out whether this deal is OK. Thanks!

    I am trying to find a good deal on a base Sienna. It's either that or a Mazda5 for 16,200.00> I think the best I can get is $24,200+TTL for the base v6.

    Hi Gang,

    Not sure if you all remember me but figured I'd post an update. After dealing with several dealers in the NY, NJ, CT region the lowest price I found for an XLE with Premium Package FWD 6 Cyl was 35,100 from a dealer in Long Island. I have since put the search on hold but may try Car Woo in a few weeks. Has anyone had any experience with that?

    Thanks,

    http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/09/2011-honda-odyssey-pricing-rele- ased-more-expensive-than-2011-toyota-sienna.html

    Plus they reserve the 6 speed auto for Touring and Touring Elite models only. 248hp and a 5EAT vs. Sienna's 266hp/6EAT on most models.

    Even at that lower price you get a backup cam on the Sienna LE and only a one-line display on Ody.

    All Odys do get VCM, finally.

    We bought a Sienna SE on June 30:

    Sticker: 35460
    Paid: 31789
    Trade: '02 Higlander w/ 140k ($7300)
    $0 deductible extended warr.: $1250 (100k miles)

    Lesson learned: Get multiple appraisals of trade in and mulitiple price quotes for the new vehicle. Our appraisals for the trade ranged from $3k to 6000, to 7000 to 7300... used the 7300 quote along with the 31789 price quote to bludgeon our way to the deal - first quote for the vehicle was 34700. A bit time consuming, but I figure that we saved $2000 or so for an extra 20 hours of work... not a whole lot of jobs out there that pay $100/hr these days...
