or can I get it at a box store.
No issues driving it whatsoever...except the missing headlight.
Dilemmas, dilemmas.
This will be a good car for me until I can save up for a G35. Sat in one at the car show. Mmmmm yummy.
I like my Jetta and in many ways do feel I have a more luxurious interior than a G, but when it comes to driving dynamics, the G obliterates every car I'd consider for under 35k.
Oh if only I didn't have a mortgage and school loans...sigh.
the fact is the Infiniti has a fine interior. of course for $30k plus, it should and does. but we are so used to the VW/Audi interiors that we can't see that fact.
Anyone who owns or has owned a 91 VW Jetta please help! I need to know if this vehicle has space underneath the driver seat to place a Thomas Guide or any other items?
2003 Jetta GLS Wagon in Baltic Green with:
- Tiptronic auto transmission
- Beige Leather Interior
- Monsoon Sound
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
I get a dealer invoice of $22,439 from Edmunds.com and Kelley Blue Book. But I get $22,806 from CarsDirect.com. Moreover, I've got some dealers who quote the lower figure, and some who quote the higher. This calculates to a 1.8% difference on the base price (before options). Could this a dealer group advertising fee, or something like that?

greg: Baltic green was discontinued for the 2003 model year, unless its different for the wagons. Makes my car more rare! :-)
Wow.
Around my area, we have white (mine), galatic blue, tornado red, the baltic green, 2 dark greens (can't remember the factory name of them), and (of course) silver. All of them are Jettas or Golfs, except the silver which is a NB.
Good luck!
The muffler, by the way was a Magnaflow http://www.magnaflow.com/ and is real nice. Not loud at all!
The car needed an exhaust,so I figured I'd do the performance one at this time. I wouldn't pay good money to replace a good exhaust. It is not worth it. Performance gains on smaller motors (even turbo ones) are so miniscule that you can't even notice them.
I know for a fact that the Techtonics exhaust I mentioned adds 10 wheel hp to the car, have seen dyno tests to prove it. The Magnaflow is very loud, from what I have heard. That becomes annoying on long trips.
You could also take thr stock exhaust and sell it to someone, but I wouldn't replace a perfectly good exhaust either. That's just my opinion.

our Jetta!
that easy. All the coffee cups that I can find
all flute out at the top and that console is too
short and they won't sit flat in there. Oh well
Might be a fun ride.
Of course, the best deal is whatever you can get, so where invoice actually lies is somewhat academic. I doubt you'll be getting on $200 over invoice deals on a car like this either, although you should certainly try.
Overall, I'd certainly trust sources like edmunds, kbb, and CR before carsdirect.com. Generally, you can do better on your own if you are willing to do your own negotiations.
Good luck on your shopping.

Thanks.
These VW Techs must be real proud of their workmanship.......hear the sarcasm?
I hope they get everything right. Also, you might consider trying another dealer, as well as opening a case file with VWoA.
Mark,
Yes, I found out today that the $367 difference covers $200 "Special SCVDA Fund" (advertising), $142 "Floorplan Interest Reserve" (helps defray interest expense on unsold inventory?) and $25 "Port Prep Fee." I think all these expenses smell a little funny, but I believe they are legitimate in that VW really charges them to their dealers. Since the price I'm offered is $100 over invoice, maybe paying these other charges isn't too unreasonable. I don't know.
Greg
Light goes on, drive 40 additional miles (1.5 gallons or so), and fill up is only 13 gallons or so.
Couldn't really get an answer. Am assuming reserve is more like 3 gallons.
So next time I get low on fuel (on a weekend), I am going to put an extra gallon in the trunk and run it dry just to find out for sure.
Also, make sure the pump doesn't cut off prematurely. For some reason at this one gas station I go to sometimes, it does. Really made me mad once, because I ended up with 7/8 a tank of gas when I thought it was going to be full.
