Thanks to all who responded to my original message. We bought a slate green w/grey EX-L RES last night at Commonwealth Honda in Lawrence for $123 over invoice. We had put a deposit down at Honda North for $823 over invoice the day before. Commonwealth also gave us $800 more for our trade-in than Honda North would. Honda North's doc fees are $229, Commonwealth's are $99. Big difference! Commonwealth was much more honest aobut their "best price". Overall a much better buying experience at Commonwealth Honda. I can't wait to get my new car!!! It's being built TODAY ... should be here by the 15th.

Honda seems to have a tradition of disguising discounts and rebates in the form of subsidized leases--and usually only at the end of the model run. Lease deals like for the closeout '04 model won't be happening anytime soon.
  • berkmomberkmom Member Posts: 12
Thank you so much for posting your deal from Commonwealth. I, too, am on the verge of buying and have been closely following your experience as I am in MA too, though in the far western corner. I will use your experience to see if I can get the same deal. I have been talking to Berlin City Honda and they can do roughly $500 over invoice, with a $129 doc. fee, which I thought was really good until I saw your post. I am so grateful for this forum. Dealers seem to be coming much closer to invoice and it pays to shop around.

I'm ready to lease an 05 Odyssey EXL in the Denver area. Just wondering what others in the area are finding out. I received my first initial quote last night of $29,510. Lease payments on a 48 month turn out to be around $450 w/ tax. Ideally, I would like to get them down to $28,000 or less, but am wondering if this is realistic in this area. Let me know what you are finding...

    congrats on your fantastic deal

you should get many years of enjoyment from the ferrari of minivans

but the eagles will need a lot of luck to beat a far superior team like the PATS

just be glad they get to go to the superbowl don't let their defeat ruin your trip lol

Contacted internet mgr through Edmunds at Palm Harbor Honda (near Clearwater/Tampa) and purchased a black EXL with rear ent for MSRP but they included over $1000 of dealer extras thrown in including gold pkg, pinstripe, cargo mat, cargo net, fender well covers, splash guards, door edge guards, extra wireless headphone (3rd), etc. They had $2000 on the sticker for some of the extras so we were pleased with the transaction which was relatively painless. Other local dealers were at $3000 over list - no add ons included and would negotiate, another $500 under with no add ons.

I love the midnight pearl (black) with ivory (tan) interior and it is a gorgeous car - waiting for the gold package to come in this week so it should be awesome looking. I've been surprised at all the positive comments I'm receiving on the van's appearance as minivans are usually not that exciting. I'm really enjoying the sunroof this time of year and have not had a moment's of buyers remorse - it is awesome compared to my previous Chrysler Town & Country.

BTW - we did better selling our existing car outright to Carmax instead of trading to a dealer. I highly suggest anyone get a Carmax appraisal first if there is a location near you so you can negotiate from that price if you are not selling privately.

    Hi all,

I'm new to the car buying market. Wife and I are looking for a 2005 Honda Odyssey -Ex with Leather and RES in southern california. Can anyone shed some light on a dealer that is willing to sell for less than the MSRP? Several local dealers in my area stood firm on the MSRP...so we walked out!
  • hematochezhematochez Member Posts: 9
I used a service through my credit union and lowest price for 2005 EX-L with DVD silver is 30,895 including all fees. I have not tried using any other services and have not spoken with dealers myself but i am starting that today and will update this forum...

this service through my credit union did not specify which dealership they were using....

Anyone else have any better results in Southern California?
  • hudson479hudson479 Member Posts: 1
In my research on getting a 2005 EX-L w/NAV & RES, several dealerships accepted my offer of $31575 including destination. TTL is extra. I'm looking for people whom have purchase from Honda of Essex to tell us what was their MV Doc fees? When I inquired directly with dealership, this was the breakdown of MV DOC fees of $652.66

    342.00 MV fee

    199.00 doc fee

     96.46 window etch fee

     15.20 tire and reg fee

This sounds extremely high? what your opinion?

I am happy with the price for the Odyssey, and feel this is fair for both parties. But the MV DOC fees is crazy.. For those that have purchase with this dealership, what kind of fees were you seeing? because at 652, that could be a deal breaker.

I just purchased a Ody. Touring - Navi/RES- Silver for 37,800. Called the internet salesman listed on the honda site. I told him I would purchase his next Odyssey Touring with the Navi for $1000 below MSRP. He did not hesitate to call me the next day and told me to come in and he would honor the deal. True to his word, I signed the paperwork and left that night with a new Ody Touring Navi/RES. I bought the 7/100,000 Honda Warranty for an additional 1450. I know that this was a little high but they initially offered me the 5/75,000 for $1,850. I countered with 1,200 for the 7 year warranty. Initially my sales person said their cost was $1,400 and that they couldn't do it. I told them that was ok and that I would just shop it around. When I got to the financing guy to sign the docs he offered me a 7/100K for $1300 (with a $50 deductible) or 7/100k for $1450 with 0 deductible. Since I felt that I was getting a good deal on the vehicle I capitulated and got the extended warranty for $1,450. All in all it was a very easy and for once a pleasant experience from the other times I have purchased a car. The dealership was Carson Honda. By the way, when I got home I got a nail in the tire. No air pressure loss I will be calling the dealer today to see my options.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
This is simple - just add those "fees" (except the last) to be price you were quoted for the vehicle and decide if the total price is "fair."

If so, buy it. If not, go elsewhere.

Whether or not this store charged the same or different "fees" to other customers is, I believe, irrelevant here.

My sister and I (separately) both concluded deals on '05 Pilots at the same store on the same day last month. Guess what - my price was $1000 better than hers.

Why she called me minutes after she left the dealer is something I'll never understand...
  • heywood1heywood1 Member Posts: 851
I should hope the dealer was friendly and the experience was pleasant, as invoice for your van is around $34,600. Including the price you paid for the extended warranty, I'd say your dealer made an easy $4K profit.

Yesterday we took delivery of our Odyssey EXL Silver. $27,550 + $99.5 doc fee. We are very happy with our purchase experience and the price we paid. It’s not the best on this forum but still it’s an invoice deal. The dealership is Dick Brooks Honda in Greer, SC. It’s about two hours away from where we live. But I think it’s worth the drive. The whole deal was done through emails and phone calls.

Here is the strategy I used:

    • First and most important, read the Edmunds.com prices paid forum to see how much people are paying and which dealerships are offering low prices.

    • From Honda.com locate dealers within about 200 miles.

    • Email dealers found on the forum and Honda.com. Total sent out more than 50 emails.

    • Dick Brooks Honda agreed to beat the lowest quote I got by $200 to get to the invoice deal.

Send me an email and I can give you the name of the person I worked with. He seems to be very straight-forward and patience, great guy. My husband, (a manufacturing engineer) spent about one hour inspecting and test driving the vehicle. He downloaded a checklist from Odyclub.com. The salesman stayed with us the whole time and explained the different features to us. The dealership is located in a small town and they are working out from trailers for now due to expansion/construction of their dealership. Do not expect fancy showroom.

If you live in Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA or even Raleigh, NC definitely try Dick Brooks Honda.

Thanks for everyone that posted their deals on this forum!

    Heywood1 - "Touring" Nav/Res MSRP is $38,810 - yu are quoting the EXL Nav/Res.
  • s2000fevers2000fever Member Posts: 37
    Socal Dad:

Robertson, Goudy, Miller, and Spreen all were quoting below MSRP (use the internet - don't talk to a retail sales person)on the EXL Nav/Res - I would think that the model you are looking for would be priced accordingly, if not more agressively. Of course, I am not up to date on the current inventory situation but I can't imagine it is worse vs. December.

"In late December, the best quotes that I received came from Robertson (NoHo), Miller in the Valley, and Goudy in Alhambra. Goudy is #2 behind Norm Reeves in sales volume in Cal (and 4th largest Honda dealer in the country so they have large allocations). The OC Dealers weren't dealing. It's month end so you may want to hit the dealers that are owned by publicly traded companies (Carson and Buena Park - Sonic), the Miller dealers - Group 1, and the Power dealers - Valencia and (maybe) Costa Mesa. Spreen in Loma Linda was pretty aggressive too. As long as you are not looking for Res/Nav, you should be able to score a vehicle at a reasonable discount. Good Luck!!"
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
No, heywood1 was quoting the invoice for a Touring R&N model to indicate rlass didn't get the best deal in the world on the Touring bought in SoCal.

Invoice for the EX-L R&N is less than $31,000 on its $34,610 MSRP.

"Since I felt that I was getting a good deal on the vehicle I capitulated and got the extended warranty for $1,450"

I will never understand why people would do that, if one could buy exactly the same policy for $1,070 in a matter a five minutes over the phone or Internet! It might seem like an insignificant amount at the time of purchasing a $30K-$40K vehicle, yet the same person would go out of their way and spend hours trying to save $50 the next day on their next TV or DVD player. Many consumers are beyond irrational!
  • jipsterjipster Member Posts: 6,299
How rational is it to buy a vehicle sight unseen? I understand a lot of consumers buy over the interent/telephone without even seeing the van that they are going to buy.

I guess the odds are fairly low that anything would be wrong with the van...but you never know.

When I ordered a Toyota Sienna I told the service manager I wanted to test drive and inspect before going thru with the purchase...he agreed.

While I know Honda keeps their promos close to the chest, is there any indication anyone is aware of that the 2.9 financing deal for new Odysseys that expired on 1/5 will return over President's Day sales blitz? Here's hoping!

I assume everyone has seen the new Money magazine (arrived at our home yesterday) where the 2005 Ody is selected as the best VALUE in minivans? I think that says something. True, the "reviews" are very shallow and quick. But the selection as best value is based on a number of factors that combine features/reliability/safety with cost.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Someone comes here to share what they paid for their new car. They are happy with the deal they received.

ALWAYS, without fail, someone will come along and rain on their parade by telling them how they paid too much or how another person paid less.

    I just don't understand...
  • Kirstie_HKirstie_H Administrator Posts: 11,242
If they're truly happy with their deal, then someone else's opinion shouldn't change that. There are some consumers who shop based on more factors than the rock-bottom price, including service experience and a positive transaction with the sales & F&I staff.

I'm not sure why other members want to rain on a happy shopper's parade, but hopefully the happy shopper is still happy!

I'm not raining on anyone's parade. If I were lurking on this board as a potential buyer, I would want to know how much is too much. I thought the purpose of this forum is to educate and inform buyers on the best prices around, and where to find them. (Obviously, not in California).

A $4,000+ profit on this van is too much, no matter how much some salespeople want readers here to believe it's the norm.

And there IS a happy medium between squeezing every dollar out of a deal and leaving $4K on the table.

Just because a buyer is uninformed, doesn't mean he isn't happy.....
  • jipsterjipster Member Posts: 6,299
For once I'm going to agree with Isell.Someone elses opinion shouldn't matter..but the vast majority of times it does.Doesn't do anybody any good to tell someone they spent X amount of dollars to much on a new vehicle purchase.

Once the deal is done...I always say,"congratulations, fantastic, great deal,oh...thats a great vehicle...super color"

Because that's what I like to hear.

As I explained, I wasn't really telling the buyer, I was trying to telling everyone ELSE.

If I were a potential buyer, I would want to know. I thought the purpose of this forum was to educate buyers and compare prices paid. And comparatively, the price paid was high. Hopefully, I saved someone else out there a few (thousand) bucks.
  • dulnevdulnev Member Posts: 652
    " Once the deal is done...I always say,"congratulations,fantastic, great deal,oh...thats a great vehicle...super color"

Yes, do that IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE, but it doesn't help anyone in the Prices Paid public forum. In fact, if someone pays $3,000 more than they should and you post a message saying "great deal", you just screwed a 1,000 people who see your message and think that THEY should pay that much too.

See the difference between raising someone's self-esteem and improving ability of other buyers to get a great deal?
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
If the buyer is happy, that's what matters. What one person considers to be "too much" evil profit may, in fact, represent a good value according to the vehicle and current market conditions.

If I were to sell my house today, I would probably net about 400,000 in profit. Sorry, but that's the current market.
  • SylviaSylvia Member Posts: 1,636
OK guys - we are off-topic. There are better places to discuss this, such as in the Smart Shopper board.

Let's keep this Prices Paid & Buying Experiences and not "did the dealer make too much" or "should people really be happy unless they bought under cost".

    Thanks!

Am I correct to assume that I could tell a Honda salesperson that I will pay only pay 1,075 to 1,090 for a 7/100/0 '05 EX-L + Nav + RES Honda extended warranty because I can contact (many?) other Honda dealers willing to sell it to me for that? I can consider it a separate transaction?

If I drive it off the lot of dealer A, can I contact dealer B the next day and still be eligible for the warranty? Is there a time limit?

Is there value in getting the Honda Warranty vs. a third-party Extended Warranty?

Many thanks to the forum members for the great info.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,562
Yes, you can get it at any dealer. It will be a seperate transaction in that the finance guy will offer it to you when you are doing the paperwork, but you could certainly make it part of your offer for the van.

I personally wouldn't get an aftermarket warranty. Too many horror stories of getting claims denied, not getting approval, or flat out going out of business.

But, the Hondacare requires you (I think) to use a dealer, but I would want to anyway if I wasn't paying for it!

Yep. I bought our HondaCare warranty almost two months after buying our 2005 Ody, and I bought the Ody in Colo. and the warranty in Md. Paid $795 for 7 years/75K miles, 0 deductible.

I agree with Isell. But I also agree with Heywood. I don't like raining on the parade, the deal is done, don't prompt buyer's remorse, etc., etc. but then again, the forum is, as it should be, prophylactic: it helps to stem buyer's remorse; it puts a thumb on the scale of bargaining power in favor of the long-beleaguered and bewildered car buyer.

So to the buyer who could have paid less but is now enjoying the perfect ODY, ENJOY! Meanwhile, to those who haven't purchased, the bargains are out there! Information is key! (PLEASE don't, under any circumstances, purchase an extended 7/100k/0 down warranty for more than $1069.00...Sam Swope Honda World of Louisville, KY and Pohanka Honda of MD [to name just two] are selling these warranties at $1069.00!!!)

And to those driving 2+ hours for the "perfect" deal, NO THANKS. I'll take my 500+ invoice deal fifteen minutes from my house and keep the local economy going. Good luck to all!

isellhondas says,"If the buyer is happy, that's what matters. What one person considers to be "too much" evil profit may, ... "

and "someone will come along and rain on their parade by telling them how they paid too much or how another person paid less. " He wants to restrict information about price.

I disagree. This forum should encourage information including price information. Why hide price? Price is one very important factor in determining value. A salesman wants to suppress information. We expect that. We expect a salesman to make excuses that support whatever is in his best interest. Buyers and owners interests are better served with more price information.
  • berkmomberkmom Member Posts: 12
Thanks Odysseus for your help in finding Sam Swope. I will be putting down my deposit tomorrow on my EXL RES/NAV here in MA, and the lovely lady at Sam's in KY will take my application for Hondacare over the phone. Without this valuable information, I would have paid at least $1250 for this package. Incidently, I am so grateful for all those who have submitted their prices so that I could negotiate my deal: $31,400 for EXL RES/NAV, $99 doc.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
I don't want to "restrict" anything. I really don't care. That wasn't my point at all.
  • jipsterjipster Member Posts: 6,299
Nobody's hiding any prices camerauser. minivanmama stated she paid MSRP in a area where dealers were asking for $3,000 over. She got $1,000 of dealer add ons thrown in for free with a no hassle experience. Is she suppose to tell you she could have paid $3,000 less if she had flown to the other side of the country? Maybe, in her area that was a good deal.Nobody is saying don't reveal information.People who read more than just that one post will know what other Odys are going for.

dulnev,I wouldn't tell someone "great deal" on Edmunds unless they were close to it. The point being I would try to say whatever positives were applicable. The idea that 1,000 people would pay $3,000 more than they had to by simply reading my"great deal" post is ridiculous.

We are now off-topic. One of three things will happen:

    1. Postings will get back to on-topic Prices Paid and Buying Experiences and any further postings veering from this will be deleted without notice and without the courtesy email of your removed post.

    2. The off-topic postings that have veered us here will get deleted - without notice and without the courtesy email of your removed post.

    3. The off-topic postings will get moved to a discussion in Smart Shopper and you can continue the discussion there.

    Thanks!

That's a pretty good price on an R&N, berkmom. I think it is good evidence of just how fast and far prices have fallen.

Tonight I had a store offer to sell a Touring R&N for invoice ($34,558). Unfortunately, the dealer is out of town and the color, while acceptable, is not my first choice. Using that figure for leverage, I went to my local store and will hear tomorrow whether they are interested in my business.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Sylvia, I just went over the Odyssey section of Smart Shopper and ALL of the discussions there are "read only." The last post in the thread about extended warranties was in September 2003. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place but I guess I'm not sure where we are supposed to go given this state of affairs.

Maybe some of those threads can be unlocked so that we have a place to take any "off topic" discussions.

    Hi:

I'd greatly appreciate some info about Ody prices in and around San Jose, CA. I'm looking for an EX-L with RES (no Nav).

The best price I got from an internet manager was $30,750 from Vista Honda (Southern Cal). That's $1750 over the invoice. I'd rather buy locally, however.

Thanks in advance for all the help.
  • heywood1heywood1 Member Posts: 851
Thanks, cccompson. At least someone understands. I was not inferring that no one listens to the Hosts here. But rather, because the Smart Shopper board is such a melting pot of topics that are either closed or contain too many makes/models to zero in on exactly what you want to talk about-- being sent there is the de facto end of a discussion.

I am wondering if anybody has gotten any good deals from Honda dealers around Dallas area?

The quotes I've getting were about $1500 over invoice for an EX-L Odyssey and they are not willing to go down much further.

Is it real that some people actually paying only the invoice or less than $300 over (~$27,500)? Any new tricks?

Thanks, this forum is really great, helped a lot of people!

I got $2000 above invoice from an internet mgr in Avery Greene Motors at Vallejo. Mine is an EXL.

This Forum is just fantastic. Many thanks to the people here and the HOST.

Any other Northern California 05 Ody buyer share the prices/quotes? Althought the market here is outrageous, relatively good deals are still something we can findout.
  • scottybscottyb Member Posts: 83
As did others on this board, I had an excellent experience with the Internet sales mgr. at Classic Honda in Streetsboro, OH.

    EX-L RES/NAV - $30,963.76 (invoice)

    document fee $100.00

    Ohio title/temp. tags - $25.50

    total $31,089.76.

I subsequently added fog lights ($392.94) and day/night mirror ($288.72) using Classic's service dep't (prices were after 10% AAA discount was applied). Was going to add subwoofer ($360.90), but it didn't arrive in time.

I made the deal on Mon., 1/3/05, having decided on trim line the previous Friday and aware that Honda was closing its ’04 year on that day and that dealers had certain sales figures they needed to meet. (see post 7858). After learning that my options within a 2-hour drive were a) $500 over invoice but no delivery for many weeks (and thus no 2.9% financing, which expired 1/5) or b) buying an in-stock for $3,100+ more, I received a call from the Internet sales mgr at Classic, advising that they needed to book sales that day to reach a Honda dealer incentive level and that she would sell at invoice an Ocean Mist EX-L R/N that was due to arrive in a day or 2. (It actually arrived the next day w/5 mi. on odometer, built 12/23.) After considering the fact that I would have to take the train there (around $135 for the family, but a 10-hr. train) and drive the van home 6+ hrs., or have it shipped, I took the deal. (We had just turned in my wife's company car, so we needed a car ASAP.)

The dealership wanted me to fly in so they could record the sale that day, but that was impossible. To enable the dealership to book the sale that day, I offered to wire them the purchase price and they agreed to return it when the financing was in place (we intended to obtain the Honda 2.9%).

Although Honda first offered 3.9%, I had the Internet service manager go back and get 2.9%, which she did.

In addition to the unusual nature of the price at that time (invoice on the last day of the year on a trim line that was in great demand), the delivery of the vehicle turned out to be unusual. My wife and I decided that it wasn't a good time for us to take a weekend trip to pick up the van and decided to have it shipped for $275. The scheduled shipment--arranged with an outside shipper--fell through about the same time as the Internet sales mgr called to advise that she had just learned that the contract between Honda Finance and the dealership requires that all financing papers be signed in person before a representative of the dealership. (Apparently the Patriot Act requires that banks and other financial institutions take steps to verify the identity of anyone opening a new account.) At that point, all of the papers had been fully signed by all parties (we had signed before a notary public), and we were not in a position to come to pick up the car.

So, in order to fulfill Honda Financial's requirement and preserve our 2.9% deal (Honda Financial's quotes must be consummated within 10 days), on 1/13 the Internet sales mgr, an irrepressible grandmother, singlehandedly drove the van over 6 hours--partially through rain--to our house, and then rented a car and drove back--through rain and punishing snow--the same day, arriving shortly before 2 am. Only days earlier, she had delivered a van 2 hours away after it arrived at the dealership later than expected.

The Internet sales mgr never tried to sell me any extras, and, without discussion, put "N/A" next to the lines for gap insurance and simoniz on the contract.

She was very patient, answered a multitude of questions, and worked very hard to ensure a smooth transaction, even though there was little if any profit in it for her. Her efforts to deliver the vehicle were extraordinary.

I hope to buy from her again (I'm looking for a used BMW convertible, and the Classic group sells many brands) and would recommend her without reservation.

Many thanks to those who recommended Classic and those who posted prices on the board for your invaluable assistance.

    Thanks Secondrow:

I've been monitoring Dealers around the Bay Area ever since the new Odyssey was available last Sept.

I don't know why, but dealers in and around San Jose, CA want close to MSRP prices for the Ody! Way over what I read from other parts of the country in this forum.

Recently I've sent emails to the dealers around the Bay Area and here are some of the Quotes I've been getting:

    Vacaville Honda:

    2005 Honda Odyssey EX $26,988

    2005 Honda Odyssey EXL $29,499

    2005 Honda Odyssey EXL-RES $31,399

    2005 Honda Odyssey Touring $32,999

    Hayward Honda:

    2005 Honda Odyssey EX-L RES $31,410.00

    Tracy Honda:

    MSRP

    Anderson Honda, Palo Alto:

    $500 under MSRP

    South Bay Honda, Los Gatos:

$1300 under MSRP for an EX or Touring(no RES/Nav)

    Stevens Creek, San Jose:

$MSRP and very firm about it. I wouldn't recommend these guys.

    Capitol Honda:

This was a while ago and as I remember it was $400 off MSRP.

    Gavilan Honda, Gilroy:

    $500 under MSRP

    Hopkins Honda, Sunnyvale;

    $500 under MSRP

I don't see many new Odysseys on the road around here in the Bay Area compared to the new Sienna and the old Ody. I don't know why the dealers are still selling them around MSRP.

Please let me know if anybody sees a better deal. I'm looking for $1000 over invoice, which I think should be a good profit for the dealer counting the 3% kick-back. That's almost $2000 in their pocket.

    Thanks to everybody again.

"Got worked over on the extended warranty though. Finance guy told us once we leave the showroom we can no longer get new car rate. He said used car rate was 200-400 more expensive. So took the 7yr/100k and paid 1450."

If you care, according to other posts on this and other boards, you apparently can cancel the warranty within 60 days for a full refund. I would imagine you would then be free to purchase the same warranty for $1,069 at another dealer (see other posts). (Even if Honda Care imposes some sort of restriction on repurchasing the warranty, the fact that there was a misrepresentation by the finance person should permit you to rescind the first deal--the misrepresentation being that you had to buy it then. My understanding is that the price remains the same until 1 year/12k mi, then goes up very slightly until 2 yr/24k mi, when it rises more substantially.)

But do you happen to have the answers to the questions in posts 8274 and 8327 (i.e. do you remember what you paid for your warranty and which warrnaty you have)?

    Thanks.

Agreed, the prices in the Bay Area are really sticking to close to MSRP. I had gotten a written quote of $1400 over invoice for a Touring Res&Nav from Michael Hohl Honda in Carson City, NV (I have friends in the Tahoe area which would make this an easy buy) and from a dealer at Lancaster Auto Group in So Cal for $1400 over invoice. Sadly, neither one has the color combination I'm looking for.

I ended up deciding to go with a dealer in Oregon which is a bit of a trek for me and my family but we're turning it into a weekend trip with a leisurely drive down the Oregon/California coast over the weekend. He's quoted me $1800 over invoice on the Touring R&N. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly but have my rental car reservation just in case. ;-) Either way, we have a nice drive down the coast.

Thanks to everybody on this forum, it's been very helpful and educational to listen to the bickering, er, comments. I'll report what happened when I'm back.

ewy123, I bought mine 2 weeks ago for $28500 (with destination), not the lowest quote, which was $28388 from Freeman. If you are willing to drive 50 miles north to Lawrence Marshall Honda, they'll sell it to you for $500 over invoice, might have to wait if you are not flexible on color, like me, so I ended up paying more for one in stock locally. Good luck!
