Thanks,
I also had a quote of $100 below invoice from Open Road Honda, $200 below invoice from Metro Honda and $250 below from DCH Academy Honda.
All the best buying one. This week is a great week to buy one. They will have lots of specials because of month-end, quarter-end and half year plus the July 4th sale.
This is a great mini-van by the way. Am loving it already.
We just bought a Touring model for 32,524 in the phoenix, AZ area. I think this is a pretty good deal....figure it to be about 800 over invoice.
What do you think? OK deal, pretty good deal, really good deal?
Thanks
Any suggestions for Denver CO area?
I should look for Invoice plus prices, not MSRP minus prices?
Thanks!
Dealer invoice plus destination is $23,186 and first dealer wants $24,300.
Anyone have any buying experiences with this model?
Is there a subscription fee for using the NAV using the menus or voice activated feature?
If there is a subscription and one does not subscribe? what features do you not get)?
If you really got the exact same car for $35936, that sounds like an incredible deal, definitely worth going to Lancaster for (I'm in DC area too). Can you verify that it was a 2005 Odyssey Touring with DVD RES and Navi which has an MSRP of 38495? I'd really like to know the salesperson but I know we can't post that here...

How much was your out of door price?.
Thanks.

One note of warning: their contract department is very aggressive in the hard sell department. DO NOT buy any of the add-ons they are pushing -- they are not worth the price, especially the KARR Security Systems EX-1 Factory alarm upgrade: They were asking $450 for basically an electric shock sensor which wasn't worth more than $150.00.
My total out the door price was $30,580.40.
Just took delivery on a 2005 EX with RES. Paid 30,150 + tax & tags from Pohanka Honda of Salisbury. Wonderful experience, knowledgeable, and friendly service with no pressure. Informed them of the price I was willing to pay, and then accepted and then delivered the van free of charge to my door 3 hours away.
The offer price came from a dealership in New Hampshire (Autofair), where I was going to purchase the car if I could not get it locally. Although I did not purchase from them, they were also very friendly and honest. Local dealerships in Northern Virginia would not offer anything even close to these 2 dealerships. After giving a verbal agreement, I was offered a price of an even $30k from a dealership in Harrisburg, PA where they also offered delivery.
As a happy customer, I can honestly recomend Pohanka of Salisbury, and feel confident that Autofair would have also lived up to my expectations.
Good luck!
Opinions if this is a good deal? If so, I will pass on the dealerships name.
Let me know your thoughts.

See the "Safety Concern" they note in bold letters. Shame on Honda.
So, let me see, your wife gets hit driving it, she's ejected and killed....
If you don't skip this vehicle for that reason, you aren't human !
I have looked at both Sienna and Odyssey crash test results in the NHTSA web site and yes it is true that Odyssey have this safety concern under side crash test that was performed. However, as pointed out previously that there would be no problem if the driver is wearing the seatbelt, and the side curtain airbags will be deployed from the door side, which will also prohibit someone from being ejected (this is my analysis). And if someone wants to avoid Odyssey only for this reason, that person should also look at all other crash test results, in which Odyssey has better numbers in all cases than Sienna. Some of Sienna's numbers are really scary, for example, in the side crash test result, the head injury criterion (HIC) for rear seat in Sienna is 550, which is almost times greater than that of Odyssey (150). One of the main reasons we buy a minivan is when we have kids, who usually ride in the rear seats. Therefore, this higher number in Sienna should also be considered when looking at the crash test results. Also, note that Sienna has a four star versus Odyssey that has a five star rating for frontal crash result for the driver side. Note that femur load is 829/774 in Sienna, which is only 367/753 in Odyssey.
Here is a (bit technical) web site that has more (general) information about crash tests:
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/regrev/evaluate/808061.html
I don't think it is right to scare people who is on the market to buy an Odyssey (just like me
I don't know of the other forums where the original message was posted, and I think a reply similar to mine should be posted there as well. Thanks.
Thanks.
I just got home from purchasing our new 2005 Odyssey EX-L (No Nav or Res) my out the door price was $29,766.
This was the best car experience I have ever had. They even had a better rate than my Credit Union 3.9% If you live anywhere in Northern CA get an internet quote from Lodi Honda. My local Sacramento dealer wouldnt even touch their deal after I faxed them a copy.
Thanks again for all the stories and tips. If not for this site I would have probably paid $2500-$3000 more for the same van. :shades:
I can't find anyone (until the recent post), that can respond with any data or analysis that helps me feel comfortable buying the Odyssey, my preferred car.
Thank you for your post. I greatly appreciate it.
That said, even with a seatbelt, and given the enormous forces in a collision, I would think that your upper torso can still be torqued or thrusted out the door to a degree. I DO think this is a significant concern, and I'm delaying my purchase until I feel comfortable with this serious SAFETY CONCERN per the government. You don't get a SAFETY CONCERN unless it really does add risk.
To the rest of the readers, can someone else please share your thoughts on how to feel more comfortable with this ejection question. I'm trying to compare the rollover risk in the Sequoia to this ejection risk in the Odyssey. Quite frankly, the jury is out NHTSA has an article that shows the 4Runner as the safest vehicle based upon deaths per certain miles.
I think what shocks me the most, is you won't find any dicscussion about this except for my raising it.
In addition, I called Honda and asked them if they have addressed this and I never heard from anyone. Customer Service has no response. A case manager is supposed to get back to me, but so far, nothing.
This color is cool and its really different.
I just purchased an EX-L no RES or NAV for $28,349 before any fees or taxes in Southern CT. Dealer wouldn't budge on the holdback. I thought a fair price would be (Invoice price) + (Dest. charge) - incentives - holdback + ($300 to $500 for dealership):
So,
$27,434 +$515 - $0 -$563 +$500 = $27,886
I figure I got beat for about $463.

This price is up to 1,000 more than others have paid for this model. As I have experienced and as other posters have mentioned, Odyssey prices run high in Minneapolis. In fact, I think this is a good price from a Minneapolis dealer and it was convenient to buy a car within a few miles from home. I worked to find a better price from dealers in MN, WI, and IA. I contacted 14 dealers and received pricing from 10. Even dealers that others have had luck with (e.g. Honda Motorwerks in La Crosse) started out with a high "lowest possible offer" over 31,000 and were not willing to deal much. This was surprising. Many dealers that I talked to said that that they are selling the few EX-L-RES's they get without dealing much. Maybe demand vs.supply has changed in the last couple of months. I purposely waited to contact dealers until 6/27 in the hopes of finding a dealer willing to deal before month end. This may have contributed to Burnsville working with me on the price as they had a car in our color (Slate Green or Desert Rock) coming in on 6/29. But I wonder if it backfired with the other dealers - not a single one of which had a van coming in before the end of the month let alone one on the lot. It sounded like they sold quite a few the prior weekend.
I had a wonderful experience. The information I got from this forum was extremely helpful in my decision making process. thank everybody here again for their posts and advice.
Looks like GM and Ford and others will give their employee discounts to anyone through August. I was hoping maybe this might make Honda dealers more inclined to drop prices?
