Congrats on your new inbound Ody! Honda factory and dealers are required to drive the vehicle for several miles to ensure there are no problems. Don't be surprised if it has 5-10 miles when it rolls off the truck at the dealer, then another 3-5 miles prior to delivery. Ours came direct, I was there the morning it came off the 18-wheeler and since it was pre-sold it went right to prep. Initially the odo showed 10, 14 miles at delivery. Your peace of mind is that only you and a Honda employee will have driven this vehicle. Best of luck you'll love it!

According to Honda, a much better source than my soggy brain, the 2006 changes are:
Touring model now available with DVD Entertainment System, previously available only in combination with a navigation system
XM" Satellite Radio added as standard equipment on all Touring models, previously available only in combination with a navigation system
Leather trimmed steering wheel and shift knob added to all EX-L models.
Tether anchors added to 3rd row outboard seats
SAE net rev. 8/04 update: 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine on LX and EX (244 horsepower @ 5750 rpm and 240 lb-ft. of torque @ 5000 rpm)
    SAE net rev. 8/04 update: 3.5-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine on EX-L and Touring (244 horsepower @ 5750 rpm and 240 lb-ft. of torque @ 4500 rpm)

What is your safety and peace of mind worth?? I recently traded in my 2004 Odyssey EX-L RES Sand stone  . It was side swiped and the the insurance said it would take about 14 days to fix the estimated $4,500 of damage and that after it was fixed it would be "Good as New". After 3.5 months later I ended up with both rear ends being replaced, a new (yeah right!) rebuilt transmission that leaked, a leaky drive shaft seal, a front end re-allignment, 3 replaced tires and rims, replaced fuel tank neck assembly that leaked, a driver side sliding door that wouldn't lock in place when allowed to open completely and it also jammed itself against the drivers door causing the driver door to squeeke when opened and shut, and the Honda collision Center where it was repaired must have had a blind man with no hands that used his feet to color sand the paint before buffing it out. It was so obvious where ever they sanded that it was as if they really didn't care. Beware! the term little accident can be used very loosely. By the way, I traded it in for the 06' Odyssey EX-L RES desert rock to the same dealer that handled the repaires and when the salesman asked me what exactly happened to the van, I told them that it was hit while it was parked infront of my house but that it was as "Good as New!" and Honda handled all the repaires. Smiling and waving back as I drove off with my family in a brand new van and my peace of mind restored ;):)

Try this again: Bankston Honda, Lewisville. A very good place to do business. No hassle on the sales end nor from the F&I department.

I was looking for an EX in and around the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. I found several dealers who were willing to sell at 26500 + TTL (and sometimes doc fee). I ended up buying from Brown Honda in Toledo since they had the color we wanted and we could buy the same day. We had a great experience there. They even matched the Bernadini 8 yr/ 120k miles/ 0 deductable Honda Care warranty price ($1281) so I didn't have to order that seperately.

Bought 2006 EX-L with Nav and RES last week after detailed internet research on pricing, got the best deal at Stockton Honda, stockton, CA - an hour and a half drive from SF bayarea. Well worth the drive, got our odyssey at $1500 over invoice with a whole bunch of accessories thrown in for free after some negotiations. Berkeley Honda and Avery Greene Motors in Vallejo, CA are also very competitively priced. Cars.com internet quote request was what got us this awesome deal.

dcman2 - thanks for the tips.

Well I finally pulled the trigger on the Ody. Here are the details on the purchase:
EX-L NAV and RES in desert metallic
    price +dest = $32400
    Moonroof visor = $150
    day/night mirror = $350
    Tax (6%) = $1974
    4 year registration + plates +lien = $350
    Doc fee = $149.50
    OTD = $35373.50
    and a free oil change.

I was shootiing for $35000 OTD but neither of the last two dealers would budge especially when they didn't have the car on the lot. Bought it from Joyce Honda in Denville. Autosport Honda was the other dealer to come down to that price but Joyce is closer to home and they were much more forthcoming. The car will arrive in three weeks. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Thank you so much for the info. I will try them out later.

Do you mind telling us that kind of accessories?

Great deal. I wish I could get it here in Bay Area. ;)

pclivingood, 26500 included destination? Did you pay this in Toledo?

What does Honda Care warranty covers?

    what is standard Honda warraty?

    Thanks,
  • pclivingoodpclivingood Member Posts: 2
caravan: yes, 26500 did include destination, but not 100 document fee. I think our final bill was 26625 and since I live in Michigan we pay TTL seperately to the Sec. State here.

I also found at least two other dealers in SE Michigan that were willing to sell at that price. out of about 6-8 that I contacted.

The best place to find out about Honda Care is the Honda web site (http://www.hondafinancialservices.com/planning/honda.asp). There is also a thread about warranty coverage. The standard warranty was 3 yr/36k bumper-to-bumper and 5 yr/?k powertrain.

fog lights, cross bars for the roof rack, wheel locks, splash guards, cargo tray.
Retails about 1000$ and free installation too.

    Wow, great deal!

Thank you very much. I will try to ask for these too. :P

The dealership knocked $2000 off the MSRP right off the bat. Do they still have room to work or should I jump on it? It looks like that's a decent price. I'm not much for negotiating but don't want to give in easily if it's possible they will come down a little. Suggestions???

What is a good price, and from which dealer?

    Thanks
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
They have LOTS of room as the mark-up on this model is in excess of $4000. Price is wholly dependent on your location (street prices range from invoice to MSRP) and without knowing where you are, it is impossible to provide any specific guidance.

That said, if you're happy with the offered price, just ask them to sweeten it a bit by throwing in whatever dealer installed options you may want (e.g., splash guards, cross bars, all weather mats, and the like).

Sierra Honda of Monrovia gave me a pretty good price. I got the EX-L (no RES) for 28,448 before tax and license. Total OTD approx. 31,100 (includes mud guards and wheel locks only and 8.25% tax adds up to quite a bit). They could probably get you the EX-L with RES at a decent price.

I went and got an aftermarket navigation, entertainment, etc for an additional price of $2900. This included a pioneer nav unit that plays mp3, cd, etc (pioneer AVIC-D1), a 12" flip down dvd/cd/mp3 player with 2 wireless headsets, an auxillary dvd/cd/mp3 player linked to the nav unit and my rear flip down unit, a 6-disc CD changer, an alarm system with a 2-way paging system and a rear-view camera. Just something to think about. You get better features and more for your money with aftermarket products. Just make sure they don't cut any wires and void your warranty.

My recent purchase of an '06 EX-L was excellent. I bought from Bankston Honda in Lewisville, TX. The salesman was very thorough during the test drive and showing before the sale. He knew all the details of the vehicle. There was no pressure to buy only some sound advice. The finance guy was the best I have ever dealt with. He pointed out what options I had for financing and warranty. Bankston was competitive on the Honda Care extended warranty so I chose to buy from them rather than an Internet dealer. Once all the paperwork was completed the manager thanked me for my business then the salesman delivered the van.

This is definitely the way car buying was meant to be.

    27949 (This dealer's invoice price)
686 (Mudguards+Foglights installed on my request)
    55.39 (Doc fee)
    1864.88 (IL Tax)
    80 (Illinois Title, Plate transfer)

    Total Out-the-door: 30,635.27

Straight invoice deal with no hassles or catches of any kind. No trade or financing to affect the numbers. I had quotes ranging from a pre-order offer of $99 over a higher invoice number all the way up to $750 over invoice. Most seemed to be $500 to $700 over invoice. Some offers came down a couple hundred dollars farther as I received calls over the next few days. At least one dealer had a specific "guarantee" to beat any other price quoted by email, but they didn't honor it even though I met all the conditions.

Dealer referral information removed due to Edmunds deletion of my original post #11026.

Actually, I did consult the message at the bottom of the discussion before my original post. I specifically did not post names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information.

Upon re-reading my censorship email from Edmunds, apparently the removal was due to the fact that I used my username in regard to the dealer referral such that people might be able to obtain the same price. This is apparently not allowed according to broad interpretation of the "personal purpose" clause in the membership agreement. My apologies.

Fair enough. Here is the rest of the deleted post in regard to my invoice deal from post 11028, less the wording in question:

I purchased through the internet sales specialist (manager) at Valley Honda, Aurora, Illinois, just west of Naperville in the far west Chicago suburbs. I happened to get a good deal by using an internet website to collect quotes, then walking in and buying an inbound unit due in a few days. I didn't get to choose a color, but fortunately Silver was among my top choices. FYI, models on the lot had various extras for added cost so don't expect to get close to this price on an in-stock unit. I had a very good experience with very professional service.

I just wanted to let people know of my great experience at Spreen Honda in Loma Linda, CA. When I decided on a silver 2006 Odyssey EX-L with RES, I took the suggestion of people on this board and sent out emails to the 30 closest dealers to me, using Honda's web site. I sent the info on the van I want, the details on my trade, and when I planned to purchase. I immediately received near identical quotes for the van from several dealerships ($30, 696 - $1,000 over invoice). A couple came in a few hundred bucks lower and many tried to hit me with a "Special Internet" price of nearly MSRP. The great thing was that Spreen Honda, which happens to be my local dealership, came in at $30,196 - $500 over invoice. They also offered Kelly Blue Book for my trade. It was a done deal before I even walked on the lot (they just had to confirm my trade was what I said it was). I took my trade in on Thursday for evaluation (they stuck with the Blue Book, which was fine by me), they located the van for me that evening, and I picked up my van on Friday. An awesome experience. I highly recommend them.

I have been hunting for an Odyssey for a long time and have not had much luck at getting a better deal then 31,300 on this model. I just put a deposit on one two days ago and then discovered this site. I have read some very low prices and now feel that maybe I should back out of the deal. My worry is that it is my area that is just more expensive and that I won't get a better deal. I offered another dealer a chance to beat this and they walked away from it.

HELP? Does anyone know a better place I should take this to in the NY Area?

I believe I cant post a web address in this forum, so type the following on the
Google search line: auto solutions portland cu

This will display the web address (Ist item in search) . The company is based out of Portland, OR. They quoted me $33,113 for 2006 Odyssey EX-L with NAV and RES. Very nice people. I was calling from the San Francisco / Bay Area, but I found very similar price from Stockton Honda (Internet quote). I have to thank "zorromom" from a previous post for this lead. Good Luck.

    Hint (www.cu-"name of company".com) ;)

Thanks for all the members who post their experiences here, I had a great experience taking home a 2006 EX [ Cloth ]. Here are the details

Emailed 7 Dealers with price $ 26620 [ including Destination + Cassette player + Splash guards ] for 2006 EX. Thats $ 400 over invoice.
One dealer [ Academy Honda, Old Bridge NJ ] called back in 3 hours accepting the price [ no other dealer installed options ].
HE did not have the van [ Slate green with Olive interior ] but got it from another
    dealer the next day.
    TOTAL OTD $ 28666.40 [ 26620 + tax 6% + 342 [4 yr NJ reg ] + 99 doc fees $ 7.50 for NJ tire fee
The van had wheel locks already installed [ for free ]
The salesman was very professional and I'd recommend this dealership - there
were no surprises. GOOD CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE AT A GREAT PRICE !!

I paid deposit at Jay Honda, Bedford, OH for a LX. I was told they will locate a van from other dealer for me in 2-3 days. Later, called me they will get a brand new one for me in a week. But now it's already 10 days since I paid the deposit, the salesman told me the van can be there "at any time", but still refused to give me the estimate delivery date. Is that normal?

i just bought my ex-l no res/nav for 28,080 including doc and tire fee at community honda in whittier. it was a relatively pleasant experience for a car deal. i got my price by contacting all the local dealerships by email and price matching. my thanks to those who posted their deals and edmunds for hosting a great forum.

    twins5,
Is that a refundable deposit? If not, did you give them a target date for delivery? I put in a non-refundable deposit at another dealer. But I asked the dealer to put in a condition that if the vehicle is not delivered before certain date, my deposit becomes refundable. The dealer agreed to that condition.

    Chris,
I am looking to do exactly what you using the AVIC-D1. Do the stock steering vol controls and radio ch changers work with the AVIC-D1? How did it fit? Crutchfields says it does not fit. Pictures of your install?

    dcman2,

I just came back from Jay Honda. They told me the minivan was shipped out on Oct 8 from Alabama, and usually it will take 8-10 days to get here in Cleveland. The salesman also gave me the VIN of the minivan and promised to call me as soon as the minivan arrives. I will wait and see. Still I am a little bit confused why they didn't tell me the shipped date when I called last week, maybe they was planning to play some tricks? Anyway, I will make sure get a target delivery date when I pay the deposit for next car purchase. Thank you for your advise.
  • cwkwancwkwan Member Posts: 12
The stock steering vol controls and radio cd changer no longer works. The stock radio and 6-disc changer has to be removed. There is also an adapter that can connect to the steering wheel for volume control but I'm not sure how well it works. You can also link your own cd changer to the D1 unit. I had the installers place the changer under the drivers seat and an auxillary dvd player inside the storage that is just under the ac unit.

Scosche makes a kit that is close but not exact unfortunately. You need a custom build kit for a very clean look. www.scosche.com. The installers will need to do some modifications to this kit to make it look decent if you don't want to spend the money for a custom built unit. I didn't want to spend the money. Unfortunately I cannot get pictures cuz some dude rear-ended me and the car is in the shop.

I can give you names of some places that offer decent pricing

I got some good info about a Honda dealer from this website.
I think I should return the favor.
Went to that dealership. They are pretty good and friendly never pushy, they gave me the best price I ever got from other dealers.
I live in LA county, the dealer is in Simi valley, First Honda,
    The quotes for
    EX: $26000
    EX-L: $28058
    EX-L w/ nav + dvd : $33173
above prices include the destination charge.

So, I ordered the EX-L: for 28058 + Tax, lincese, doc fees
The EX-L w/ nav + dvd is much higher than EX-L alone, counting the nav + dvd
is like more than $5000, I don't think it's worth that much.

By the way, the Honda dealers in Cerritos suck, their pricings are like 1000~1500 more than what I got from 1st honda, depending on how you negotiate. Also they are pushy, mean and bossy. Think again about going into Honda dealer in Cerritos.
  • clark4clark4 Member Posts: 9
In my research in FFLD County CT is coming up with the same pricing of 31,300 for EX-L RES. I am pushing on a dealer in New Haven Cnty for 31K but they have limited selection. Please let me know how you work out.

My husband and I just purchased a slate green van. We had a quote from when we test drove - got a call offering an extended test drive - we took a van for half a day returned it, then made an appt. to talk about price a few days later - they didn't meet our price so we left ( I got a couple of internet quotes ranging from 30053 to 29024) they called us back yesterday( 3 days later) and came down another $400 - drive out. So we went in and bought the van. Van was on lot so we have it now - have to take it in Wednesday for clean up of 'paint overspray' around inside of driver/passenger door. Bought from McDavid Honda in South Houston. People we dealt with were courteous - did their sales but when told not interested in extras - did not try to push them on us.

paid:26584.32 which was 28500 drive out

We just purchased EX-L with RES only. Based on this forum's feedback, I sent emails using Honda web site to dealers in the area. I got 2 kind of responses. South bay dealers selling at MSRP or higher. and all others selling between 1000 - 1200 over invoice. I got 4 responses for 30146 + dest charge + Tax and fees. My wife and I were split 50 - 50 on Ocean Mist and Slate Green color. Honda of El Cerrito had both and latter in both interior colors as well. We decided to drive up 55 miles to make color choice on the spot and complete the purchase. Internet sales manager also agreed to throw in couple of accessories (Wheel Locks, door edge guards, that were already on all their vehicles, and cross bars) After going back and forth, we settled at Ocean Mist, and decided to do paper work. Finance did try to sell Extended Warranty and additional security system that they had on the cars in their lot. We refused and they were not too pushy. The whole process was going very smooth as a piece of cake. Just as we were at the final point to write the check (in less than 2 hrs!!) we were told that the van hit a pole while it was being taken for detail/delivery preparation. Oops!!

The dealer gave us a few options: to replace the bumper from another Ocean mist, or to select some other vehicle. Since I would have to go back again on a weekday for replacing the bumper, we decided to select the other option we were split over. Slate green with Grey interior. All the paper work was redone very quickly and we waited while the other car was being preped.

Accidents do happen, and I don't hold this against the dealer. My overall experiance was very good with El Cerrito. I must add that I had visited Capitol Honda in San Jose a day before and they were seling EXL + RES for 4k above MSRP. Although they were willing to negotiate, they were very clear that they will not sell the car for below MSRP. We had walked off from there in not too long time.

While we were ready to drive off after the delivery of our new Slate Green EX-L with RES, the sales person also told me to come back any time later to get a free detail and a full tank of gas!!

Here are the pricing details of the deal

    EX-L with RES Base price : $30146.00
    Dest charge : $550.00
    Doc fee : $45.00
    CA tax : $2536.13
    DMV fee : $28.00
    Licence fees : $263.00
    CA tire fee : $8.75
    ----------------------------------------------------------
    Total: $ 33576.88

Hope this helps the folks in SF bay area that are watching this forum...

  • ildarildar Member Posts: 5
    Jub,

Refer to post #11014. All of the information about the purchase is there.
Also both Sussex Honda and Open Road Honda dealerships have plenty of Odys on the lot with all configurations. Their opening price was around $33400 (including dest.) for EX-L w/Nav and RES but were willing to negotiate esp. if the car was on the lot. The car I was looking for wasn't available so naturally they were unwilling to deal a lower price.

    Good Luck,

Paid $28,785. The van had the mud flaps, cargo tray and tinted front windows. My second choice was a blue Odyssey without the flaps, tint and tray for the same price. I paid $995 for the 5/100 Honda Care warranty. I took the 0% interest opition for 18 months on the warranty. You can buy warranties for less on the net but not with the Honda 0% offer.
