I don't know where in the country you are, but in Southern California, it seems a bit pricey. I've gotten quotes on a EX-L from 10 dealers in my area and the lowest internet quote is $26,500 including destination charge. TTL typically runs around 10-11% of this, which would be significantly less than the $31k you've been quoted (even discounting the backup sensor)

Anyway, I'll be out bargaining in person this weekend to see what I can get...

    I'm in Northeast Kansas.

Thanks for your information! Your quotes are significantly lower than ours. I don't know if regional differences can account for that big a discrepancy. I'll put out for additional quotes from other dealers in the area and see if my local dealer can match those.

    Hi Cochbr,

Whick dealer did you get the lowest price from?

    Thanks.
  • cochbrcochbr Member Posts: 13
The lowest quote on the internet I've received so far is Power Honda in Valencia, which includes destination charge:

    EX-L: $26,500
    EX-L RES: $28,000

Rock Honda and Norm Reeves West Covina are tied for 2nd with a couple hundred $ off.

These are reasonable, but here's my breakdown of the dealer cost at a glance:

    EX-L
    MSRP: $30795 (excluding destination charge)
    Holdback 3%: $924
    Dealer Cash: $500
    -----------
    $26,284

    EX-L RES
    MSRP: 32395 (excluding destination charge)
    Holdback 3%: $971
    Dealer Cash: $500
    -----------
    $27,674

So you can see the quote above is pretty close, but no dealer is going to show their best hand over the internet. I'll visit a handful in person and see what I can get. I'm shooting for either $26,000 EX-L or $27,500 EX-L RES. I'll keep you all updated.

Sounds like your cousin got a great deal on an EX for $24000 even. Was that $2400 +TTL? Was financing or a trade-in involved? I thought $25k +TTL was about the best one could get for an EX in the SF Bay Area. Consumer Reports price report says

    base EX invoice $25,652
    + dest. $550
    - dealer hold back $852
CONSUMER REPORTS BOTTOM LINE PRICE $25,350

Does the dealer get more back from Honda than the dealer hold back?

Have you been able to get your EX-L for $26k +TTL yet?

Anyone got any recent prices (total price before TTL) for EX or EXL in the SF Bay Area?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is it true that parking sensors can be added to an EX or EXL? If so, is that a Honda add-on or a third party add-on. How about mud flaps, a cargo board, or the ipod connection? Where can I get more details about available options?

    Thank you,

Anyone out there with an EXL - how do you like the leather seats so far? Do they make your back sweat? The leather seems like it's coated with a plastic finish. Is it holding up well?

Anyone out there with an EX - how do you like the cloth seats? Is it wearing well? I'm guessing that cloth seats are more comfortable than the leather.

I need to decide which way to go, EX or EXL. I think I like the cloth better than the leather, but I really like the whole VCM feature of the EXL. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks in advance for you leather vs. cloth input.

Anyone out there get the cargo board? How do you like it? It seems like a cool option. Do you have to remove it from the van to fold the third row seats down?

    Hello all,

We are here in the Boston area, and looking to purchase an Odyssey (Ocean Mist) EX-L with DVD/NAV. We've e-mailed a bunch of dealers, and here are three of the quotes we've received after some negotiation. Any thoughts on if they're good offers? They all seem pretty solid.

    Offer 1:
    29,836 +
    550 destination +
    198 documentation +
    120 title/inspection/plates
    1519 tax
    Total: 32223

    Offer 2:
    30000 +
    550 destination +
298 documentation (unclear if this covers everything) +
    1565 taxes
    Total: 32413

    Offer 3:
    29900 +
    550 destination +
    285 doc (again, unclear)
    1522 tax
    Total: 32257

Is there any more room for wiggle/negotiation ... any experience with this? We really like dealer #1 ... great experience so far through the internet.

I would suggest to give a try with Reliance Honda in Lake Jackson in Houston TX area.we got lowest internet quote from Reliance. My wife planned to buy a odyssey EX as family car earlier, but I like SUV. So we got a polit with Reliance last week. My buying experience is realy good. no game, no rip off, no stress, and low price.

I'm looking for a EX-L w/ DVD & NAV... I'm not too picky about the color but I like Ocean Mist. Has anyone bought one recently in the Seattle area? Best price? So far I've been quoted just under 33k for the 'costco' price. Thanks in advance!

I am located in the Florida panhandle. I am slowly shopping for an EX-L with the RES,NAV package. The best I have come up with is $31,183.00 plus tax and the usual hidden costs.
You sound like my kind of shopper, $28,000.00 is quite a ways from $31,183.00. How can there be such a difference when an Odyssey is an Odyssey? I realize volume makes a difference, but you have to sell a heck of a lot of cars to be that far apart. Any suggestions?

Which dealer gave you this quote? In Chicago, the most competitive deals now are 1,000-1,500 under invoice.
  • ruschrusch Member Posts: 16
EXL comes in black, but not EX. The EXL comes w/ivory interior. The Touring comes w/a choice of black or ivory interiors. I have seen a few black vans on the road, but not alot. Our dealer told us that in their next delivery of Odyssey's not 1 black is coming in! But we're told it will be here in a week. We'll see!

Brilliance Honda in Crystal Lake. Is it OK?
  • cochbrcochbr Member Posts: 13
I'm not in the market for an EX-L DVD/NAV, so can't speak to the price. I'm focusing on either the EX-L or EX-L RES, whichever dealer can hit my price point.

Each market has its own characteristics. I was told by one dealer that Southern California is the largest Honda market with a dealer located about every 6 miles. The 10 quotes I received were all within a 20 mile radius from my home. Competition apparently is the name of the game.

    Good luck in FL.

    otguy,

My cousin purchased his '06 EX from Penske Ontario on June 29, straight cash. It took some wheeling and dealing and he did use my upcoming purchase as leverage - for whatever it's worth, though I will definitely get in touch with the salesman there!!!

If you look at Edmunds EX invoice price, it is $25,552. Dealer Holback is right at $852. Then possibly Dealer Cash of $500 (which was good through July 5). So dealer cost for my cousin would be around: $24,200, excluding destination of $550. He definitely got a smoking deal (low processing fees too), but as discussed in earlier posts, some dealers are willing to give some on a few cars to meet their monthly targets, bonuses.

No, I haven't found a dealer yet that will meet my price. But I've only been getting internet quotes. I'm sure dealers will give in some, hopefully A LOT, when I negotiate in person. I'll keep you all updated.

The black exterior looks great, even better on a touring with black interior! I've seen a few on lots in the SF Bay Area, but only touring.

    Thanks for the info.

I am in the market for an '06 Odyssey EX with cloth interior. I have been getting internet quotes in the low to mid 26's for this car. From reading these posts, I can see others have done better particularly in the bay area. Anyone in the Pacific NW have any buying experiences they can share with me on this model Odyssey?
  • otguyotguy Member Posts: 37
Was a Oakland Honda today. Salesperson said they have about 80 Odys in stock and are trying to clear them out. I went just to look at colors and told him I would be doing my purchasing over the internet. After I left, he phoned me with a quote on an EX for $25,250. I didn't call back for details, but my guess it he'll probably try to add dest or fees other that TTL to his price.

I just purchased a 2006 EXL with DVD and NAV. for $30,301.00 plus Tax (6%) and fees ($195.00) from Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg, PA. My wife did everything over the phone. We stopped by the dealership to let them evaluate our trade, and in less than an hour we were out of there.

Just had to say thanks to all the posters here. If I didn't check out this forum I would have never thought I could get a deal below invoice. Thanks!

For anyone in the Baltimore Maryland area, I just got an incredible price on a 2006 EX-L w/DVD. Got it for 28400 with the $550 freight charge. Almost 2,000 better than any other place I got quoted, and they were EXTREMELY pleasant to deal with.
  • stockmanjoestockmanjoe Member Posts: 353
Those are all excellent offers. I would just talk them down the cost of the doc fee but really at this point you have a good deal no matter what.
  • tannerduketannerduke Member Posts: 4
Great to hear ... good to get confirmation.

Our final walk-out price is 32,005 after everything (taxes, title, etc). Working backwards, this appears to be:

This includes all documentation, taxes (5% in MA), and destination charge.

Working backwards, this probably puts the price of the car at around 29,800 or so.

Not sure where you are but the metro area prices in Washington and Oregon seem to be rather high on Odysseys. There have been a few reports over time here of better deals to the east (e.g., Moses Lake and Yakima). Good luck.

Presently, Brilliance Honda is the premiere Honda dealership in the Chicagoland area in terms of sales price and service. However, your price may still have some wiggle room. Invoice plus destination is 29,696 on the EXL RES. You should have a counteroffer of 28,196 including destination charges. A reasonable counteroffer to your counteroffer is between 28,696 to 28,496. These prices should include destination charges. Did you walk in or contact them through the internet? Try contacting them by phone and ask to speak to the Dealer Trade Manager. The DTM will transfer you to someone who is Authorized to make deals on internet prices over the phone. If you have met the salesperson already, then just counter their sale price with the above metioned formula. Good Luck. I am sure Brilliance Honda in Crystal Lake will give you the lowest price available now in the Chicagoland area.

Just bought a 2006 EX Odyssey from Wilsonville Honda for $25,900 plus TTL yesterday in Portland area. I know other areas are doing better but I did a lot of work over the phone and email and this was the best price I could land! It included mud guards but no other options.

    Hi -
I'm in the market for a 2006 Honda Odyssey EXL RES in Eastern Michigan. I've been quoted $29,100 which makes it $31,038.60 OTD. This was an internet offer from Jim Riehl's Friendly Honda just North of Detroit. My local Honda dealer (Cawood Auto), has indicated that they will match that price and throw in pin striping and mudguards (which I don't really care about).

Does anyone have any feedback as to whether this is a decent deal considering that 2007 models will be coming in soon?

    Thanks.

I just purchased ours last week (EX-L) without any Nav or RES in Grand Rapids MI at Rivertown Honda dealership for approx 29,7XX OTD (Destination, tax, title, etc.. etc..) Very courteous service, fast transaction and no hassles at all. I did have the $500 manu to dealr deal working in my favor until the 5th though.

    Give them a try.

I wish I had writen this sooner. We purchased the EXL RES, for 28,350 incl.destination. Plus, Tax & Title. WE are waiting for our color now.

What's the best way to get internet price quotes and complete all purchase negotiations online? The Honda website has a price quote option and so does Edmunds. Does matter?

    Thank you

Congratulations. Brilliant Honda is a superb dealership. It seems that your price was almost 1400 under invoice. This is a great deal. If there still is time, you ought to reconsider a purchase of the Navi system. The rearview camera and GPS are invaluable options that you will find useful in countless ways.

I am getting ready to purchase our oddy EXL RES today. I am in Central Ohio.

I am settling on $28,600 (Honda of Marysville) (OTD pricing $30,822.88 TTL). I actually could have gotten 28,500 from another dealer (Hinderer Honda) but they had to locate the car and I didn't want to run the risk of not getting the color I wanted. I am happy with this. I see some getting $1400 below invoice. I am getting almost $1100. I did all this over the internet (I used Edmunds quote system) with very little effort. I kept submitting each others quote to each dealer to see who could beat it. I have a very busy life with working and 4 kids so I am satisfied with the deal I got with the effort I put out.

I was also told yesterday that Honda is about to announce today low rate financing on all Oddy's.

The one thing about the 2007 is that I don't think they will negotiate as low. I could be wrong.

I've received a quote of 1k under invoice on an EX-L R&N (DVD & Nav), but dealers seem to be in short supply. Touring models can be had for 1k under invoice too, although I would suspect you could negotiate lower for the Touring since demand doesn't seem as high thanks to PAX!

Any other quotes for the SF Bay Area????
  • stressdoc1stressdoc1 Member Posts: 5
Anyone getting EX for 25k? I'm in Missouri.
    Current figures look like this to me: 25,552 (invoice) + 550 (dest) = 26,102 - 852 (dealer holdback) - 500 (dealer incentive) = 24,750 (actual dealer cost).
  • bullfrog34bullfrog34 Member Posts: 20
2.9% for 24 or 36 months and 4.9% for 48 or 60 months starts this Friday and will be good through the end of the month. I know it's good for CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey, though it might be good on other models too.

Just got an email from my dealer stating the above.
