    Jimmy,

I got many quotes.....gwinnet was the fifth highest. All OTD quotes....TTL have been added in. No additional fees on top of this.

By my calculations, your gwinnet place number is 277 lower than mine. Salesman D.L. has stated he cannot go any lower. That 28,769 is his rock bottom most competitive OTD quote.

    Yours:28 492.25
    Mine: 28 769

anyway, here's my list - all otd prices

~27,836 curry ( might have done that math wrong....he never did give me otd pricing, i'm refiguring it and showing they're even with hennessey)
~27,946 willet including TTL and muds, cargo liner, mats, wheel locks (and they are just good people....gave me the otd number at initial request and included all of the above w/o me asking)
    ~28,071 hennessey incl muds/mats
    ~28,645 ed voyles
~28,691 economy in chattanooga (no accessories)
    ~28,769 gwinnet

Then it goes up from there eventually reaching 30,085 at Nalley

    :)

I bought EXL R&N for $29888 from Penske Indianapolis on Sept 4 with a trade-in. Well, I could get for $29468 in Atlanta, GA or $29,600 from Perfermance Cincinnati. But it is not worth of trouble to add 1000 miles and 16 hours driving.

A few things u need to know.
-ALWAYS start $1000 ($2000 if there is Honda rebate) off the invoice price
-Add few hundred $$ for the premium of color in the bdding
-Be cool and don't add more than invoice price. The dealer will get AT LEAST $1000+ from Honda per vehicle for the sale.

    :)

That seems about right......31,500 OTD is about what that would about the bottom price for an ex-l res/nav here in atlanta after 7% tax. So glad you were able to get a great car at such a great price! Hopefully today, I will be too. We're at 27.85K otd for ex-l no res no nav all fees/taxes etc incl and with cargo liner, muds, wheel locks, mats.

25,500 as a base is definitely lower than i've been able to do. in fact, yesterday wtih my OTD offer of 27315 (which is nearly 25,500 prior to ttl) I apparently pissed a bunch of ppl off. Many didn't email back and the two that did said there was no way they could match the offer, so to take it where I found it and enjoy the van.

Someone here claims to have bought an ex-l no res no nav from hennessey honda over labor day weekend. the internet person said she must have been a 4% sales tax county b/c there's no other way they could do that.

Anyway, I emailed a bunch more last night with an otd of 27.8 and already have 3 emails for juuuust under that. 27.75k or so all w/in a few dollars of each other.

    Hello,
I brought my honda ode EX with options...like splash ,mud, weel locks ,cargo met, back mirror ...with price of $26750 plus destin plus TTL with zero down and 2.99 so i think price negotiation goes with what is the interest you are willing to give.

    thanks
    hp
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
    >

those shouldn't be considered options....they'll give them to you if you ask usually. 26750 for base of *just* an EX is high imo. i'm getting my ex-l base at about 25,700, no destination just TTL, 5.99% from usaa.

it should be about 2k less for an ex with cloth.

    K
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
that's about right iirc. try a board search for ex to see what else you get.

Yesterday, I purchased an EX-L, no RES, no NAV for 26,330 (incl destination) + $90 in doc fees + TTL from a dealer in Iowa. The OTD price was $28,100. With a few modifications, I basically followed the advice by Donkeypunch1 (thank you!), post # 16303.
  • cargirl9cargirl9 Member Posts: 24
When you email are you re-emailing people who have already quoted you?

    What do you say?

My 25,500 guy says that that was last weeks price - this week it's $1000 more. Hello - this is why we are not doing business with you!! There were not dates on his quote or anything. Another dealer said there was no way they could do it. Hmmm...

Anyway, talking to another dealer already. Hoping they will match - but at this point I would take 28 OTD (we are 7.75% so that changes things...) with access included.
  • anna4anna4 Member Posts: 2
Hi ..Does this include the mud guards, cargo tray, wheel locks & front window tints ?
  • futureodyownerfutureodyowner Member Posts: 3
No, no extras. Some dealers included already installed options (splash guards, paint protection), but none on the one I purchased. There was no trade-in involved either and I had my own financing arranged (5.99%/36 mo) through the local credit union.
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
"My 25,500 guy says that that was last weeks price - this week it's $1000 more. "

I'd take the email and call the sales manager. Pretend like you didn't even talk to the guy. Let him know you're coming in today (ifyou are) but you just wanted to confirm the deal before driving over. Tell him, the base, then add on *specifically*, the taxes, title and fees for your area for a grand OTD price of 'x'. If so, then you're set. If not, then tell him, hmmm, I thought that was too good to be true, Ask him is he could email you the best base they can do, and detail all other fees, noting and guaranteeing and OTD number.

Ii bet he thought he could slip dest&doc fees in there to makeup the grand. I just wasn't seeing how they could do 25,500. I can't find anyone that has gotten that when i've board searched.

How many dealers are you talking too? Yesterday, when i went too low (probably b/c i was comparing a 4% sales tax price to my 7% sales tax) and pissed ppl off, i just went to the honda website and sent out a bunch more quote requests to another 13 dealers. There have to be a *ton* where you are.

My email last night said this:
We're ready to pull the trigger on a new 2007 Odyssey. White with tan/ivory leather. tFinancing is set. No trade in. I'd like to be at 27,800 OTD (including every imaginable fee and tax as well as including the carpet mats, the mud guards and the cargo liner).

I'm looking for the most competitive compelling quote that beats, gets to, or is closest to the target and will call immediately with a deposit to hold the vehicle - coming in later in the day to sign the papers.

    Please email
1)the very best price you can do
2)confirmation that you have the white ex-l in stock

I heard back at quarter to 8 from the guy who got the deal. He came in $40 lower than my other person from the first slew of emails.

i called him right away, said let's go, please confirm in a new email that you have the white ex-l 2007 ody in stock and that your otd price is 'x' and please breakdown each fee. He responded with that and the stock and VIN.

Then as I was getting a million other responses, all much higher, more in line with my first set of numbers. I just quickly shot them emails saying "we've already pulled the trigger at 27,792......however, if something doesn't work out, we'll let you know". Four ppl emailed back saying they would match, two of them requesting the written email (i gave it to them), one beating the 27.792 price by $70

Do you have a larger pool of dealers you can pull from?

In my first slew of emails, i wrote back and made the mistake of going so low that literally no one responded, except two of them out of frustration saying that NO WAY could they go lower than they already did, and that if i had that deal (27315) I should take it b/c the dealership was paying me to take it away. It was then that I started a new pool with the 27.8 number.

I think it would be reasonable to shoot off a quick email to 10 dealers in your area saying what I said above...you're "ready to move today, trying to get to 27,800 or as close as possible...we'll call immediately with a deposit for

1)the most competitive compelling quote that can detail base, all fees, TTL and give you a clear guaranteed OTD number.

    and

    2)has 'x' color in stock.

Let me know if you'd like to sell a car today. Hope to work with you soon."

someone will come back with something good:)
    K

here were my original otd numbers (atlanta, ga or metro area 7% sales tax)
27,946. willet (stated cargo, muds, wheel locks, mats from first email
    28.0something curry
28,071 hennesy (they responded with frustration to my 2nd email asking them to come down)
    28,645 edvoyles
a few in between here......gwinnet was one....they were irritated also that I wanted to come down.
29,130 conyers (they actually emailed me during this am's deal...i told them it was done, they did price match. they're closer but i wanted to honor the deal)
    29,639 albany
    29,874 carey paul
29,550 nalley (first time i heard from them)
30,085 nalley (second time i heard from them)

I tried something similar - said we are looking for 28 OTD and are ready to go today. Send the quote broken down with muds, cargo tray, and locks, OTD and color confirmed. I have already had two people come back and say no way we can do that.

I've sent the request out to over 30 dealers (between last and this time).

Ugh. My contact at the place we are trying to deal with isn't in yet so we'll see what they can do when they come in. You would think we would have a better market here - So Cal - but apparently we have a bunch of yahoos who pay whatever.

Lucky you!! You have it done!! what happened to the '06 Navi idea?

"~27,946 willet including TTL and muds, cargo liner, mats, wheel locks "

    I'm moving!

Our lowest OTD is $400 more than yours. . without options.

And still - no line item costs, no OTDs...how much more specific can we be?

Any input - 26,100 base including destination no options? Oddly, this is my 2nd best price to date.
  • escape714escape714 Member Posts: 4
what dealer ship do you get it from ?
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
muds, window tint, wheel locks, cargo tray should already be there....just state that you want them included....you'll basically pay the same either way, so you're essentially getting a few add-ons to sweeten the pot.

I did talk to Honda Carland/Roswell. He came in higher than my target, then wanted to price match.....which is nice, but I didn't want to price match.

i just drove home from Milton Martin Honda (Gainesville, GA) in my new EX-L white/tan that had 22 miles on it. $27,792 OTD as promised with security etching, cargo liner, muds, paint protection yadda yadda all included. He would have offered up the wheel locks I'm sure...but I had realized about a day ago that they would NEVER be used by me and would just clutter.

I loved the sales guy (not supposed to use names here so we'll just say his first name started with a G:))....he was just 'good people' as they say in the south. I'd drive the drive in a heartbeat to buy every car that my family will ever own. It was that good.

Not a hint of, 'well....this little fee is standard'....or 'oh yeah, that's got to be added on'. never. It was all fun, happy, community, *honesty*. You could tell people were happy being there. He bought my girls ice cream from the vending machine....walked me through all of the features of the car.....let my 8 and 6 yo tell him stories, make him nametags and more.

It was delightful. Seems like a silly word to describe a car purchase, but it was. There wasn't any other place I'd rather have been. Not only was it a great place to be buying a gorgeous solid new ody but it would have been a great place to just *be*. Even without a purchase. He was telling me that they have a big cookout (ribs/ turkey fry) every year the tuesday before thanksgiving and about 250 people show up. I can see why.

Honestly, we will not shop around should we need another Honda. We'll just make the drive to Gainesville.

Fwiw, he was the best price out of the gate. I named my number (27.8 otd) and he came in lower. Everyone else came in higher, even just a little bit.......then when i told them I had a deal in writing, 5 dealers (of 20 or so) geographically closer offered to price match to 'save me the drive'. Quite frankly, if you could have gone lower, why didn't you in the first place? I told them 'no thanks', i'll drive further for the guy who was willing to go further for me. He did the right thing, I'll respond in kind by doing the right thing.

I am so glad I drove the next 20 minutes for what I think is probably the best car buying experience one could have. Anywhere.

    All the best,
    K in atlanta

    "27,946" I typed that wrong...it was $27,792.78

    anyway, back to your predicament:)
ahhh, SoCal.....then i'm not surprised your prices are higher. atl is cheap compared to most metro areas and we have such a rural pool to pull from. i mean, how many people are driving hondas in south georgia? not many.....but there are lots of dealers if you cover the whole state

"Our lowest OTD is $400 more than yours. . without options.

And still - no line item costs, no OTDs...how much more specific can we be?"

i think that's really a fine place to start - since they won't do the line by line, you do it.

thanks for your very competitive quote. To reiterate, we are ready to go today. For the sake of clarity, you're saying:
'x' base price (no additional fees)
    'y' sales tax
    'z' total for TTL
    ________________
    xyz

looking forward to buying this vehicle from you, Just wanted to be clear that we're agreeing that xyz is the total number out the door. Please confirm that the above is the correct number and that you have 'x' in stock and we will call immediately with a deposit.

    "It was delightful"

    I am so jealous.

The local internet manager has really been going the extra mile for us and while they cannot match my lowest quote - I think I am going with them anyway. Lowest quote sounds shady anyway and local people say they do a lot of switch/add on whatever else at the end...(and I believe it - naive me)

Anyway, we are at 26,000 + TTL.

Can not wait till this is over!!

PS - I hope someone buys me ice cream when it's all over.
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
if he's been going the extra mile, then I'd say your instinct to reward the effort is a good one.

so you're at 28,080 plus what $30 or so for title? What other fees? I think it sounds great, really. Once you're in, you can (or dh can) negotiate for accessories for 50% off.....or check bernardihonda.com for prices on accessories (or ebay) and they will likely match best prices for muds and cargo liner (looove the liner).

    :)
    k
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
oh! and they offered hondacare. i told them i had a quote from bernardi for 6yr/120K (we do about 25k/yr on our cars;/). they matched it without issue and offered either

1)paying for it outright - cash, check, credit
2)rolling it into the financing at 5.9%
3)financing at no charge thru some other company for 9,12 or 18 mos

I live in Jacksonville, NC and I just picked up my 2007 EXL-RES that I got for $28,300. There was a fight with the dealer to get this price, but it turns out there is a $2000 dealer rebate that they don't tell you about. Don't be afraid to call other dealers and get their prices and play them off one another, it worked great for me. When I got home and looked at my keys there is a dealer tag on one that listed the price of the car at $27,500. I bet you can get a good deal on '07 with the '08 due any day now.
Watch out, the dealer kept telling me that it came with XM, but when I got home and went to set it up there was XM system in the car. Turns out that it only comes with the NAV system the others are just XM ready and I was told the system costs about $700. After talking to the sales manager, mad as hell, I am getting the XM for free.

Hope i got a good deal on this....

i emailed dealer in phx area and all has price of $24800 for ex but there is catch....this price is good if u buy cash and when asked for 2.99 ,o down then price went to $2000 more as they all send me email saying above price was only for cash buyer as incentive so honda told me that they can do 2.99 for 36months or 4.99 for 60months 0 down if good credit with price around $26800 so price can be change depend on cash or loan.

I had written before about a problem with Ocala Honda in Fl. Then I wrote that they called me and tried to make it right. One person on this list thought they were doing a good guy-bad guy scenario. Boy was he right. I didn't go back in but starting writing them and they reneged on the deal again. I ended up buying in Gainesville from Wade Raulerson who met my lowest quote. The only option was cargo liner. Sale price $26,353.50 includes all fees. I probably could have gotten a few hundred more off but we needed the car (thought we had it from Ocala a week before) and I was worn down. Wade Raulerson at least did exactly what they said they were going to do when they said they would do it.

Anyone in Fl. it's probable best to avoid Ocala Honda

I have received the following email quote for EX-L RES.

Rt 23 Honda: $27,735 incl dest + TTL

Is this a good price, or is there room to lower a little ?

    Thanks !

I think you have some room here. I am negotiating today for the same EX-L RES and have been quoted around 500 less in Central NJ. Will update you later once I receive a firm quote.

I am also looking for EXL and if I can get a better deal on EXL with DVD I will go with that, also I would like to get 4 mud flap, trunk tray and wheel locks. So why we three can go to one dealer and they may go to give us a best price. Please let me know what you think?
  • mudramudra Member Posts: 20
I have a quote for less than 29k for EXL with DVD and NAV including destination. TTL+ doc fees is extra. If this is good for you let me know yr email/phone and we can setup something and try to negotiate further.

I was only checking plain ex-l's but a couple of ppl emailed me ex-l res quotes anyway....one OTD at 7% sales tax was 29,874. Since they weren't the lowest price, i'm sure I could have found one a little lower. Probably not much but maybe 29.3 or so otd.

this is pretty good....ex-l res nav rock bottom OTD (every last penny accounted for) is pretty much 31400 depending on region and sales tax....it could go up a little from there if you're in 8% territory or if your region is slightly more expensive. I'd imaging NJ is.....so is socal....chicago.
  • cillakatcillakat Member Posts: 53
28.3 *cannot* be otd for res/nav. not possible. i walked otd at 27.792 for just plain ex-l.... as the email quotes kept coming in yester, i just respond with 'thanks, but i already have a deal for 27.792.

About 10 dealers have responded wtih 'that's not possible....they're loosing 1200.' 'loosing 1800'. 'no way we could come close' 'wow, that's a good deal.' 'that can't be otd, what that deal falls through, email me' etc etc

There were about 10 of those responses. 5 did match....one of 5 came down $70 from there with a $50 gas car. not playing that game though. The original quote was someone coming through for me......so i came thru for him.

anyway, no way no how on 28.3 otd for res/nav. not happening anywhere in the country unless it's used.

Does that mean your base is about 24542? How are they getting there on an EXL?

Just curious because we are having a hard time getting 26,000?

It's a great price!! Grab it.

I've noticed that some ppl confuse 'OTD' with 'base price plus all fees EXCEPT TTL'. It even said that in donkeypunches email format....please give me 'otd price with no other fees except TTL'. my understanding is that 'otd' means it includes ttl, but it's often used incorrectly.

also, there are a couple states with no or 2% sales tax on cars....and situations in which ppl are buying out of state and not figuring in the sales tax since they're not paying it right then (even though they're paying it later)

no one is selling a new, undamaged 07 for 26,078 otd with TTL included. Just not happening.

    " EXL 26,078 OTD. 5% Tax in MA. "

I think you mean 26,078 base incl fees plus TTL? 5% sales tax which would get you OTD at 27381.90 plus whatever you guys pay for title/tag/lemon law (if youhave those)

It's a great price. Basically what I just got here but we're at 7% so my OTD was a little higher.....my base was 25954 plus TTL (7% sales tax, $18 title, $3 lemon law). totalling $27,792.78

Ya done good. Go for it.
