Manly in Santa Rosa offered my parents $26,200 for an EX-L without Nav or DVD. That was about 3 weeks ago, so you can only do better than that. Hansel in Petaluma was $2,700 higher than that (they viewed the $2,000 "dealer cash" as theirs, even though every other dealer gives it to the customer. Good luck!

    Hi cdoobiest,

I am looking at an EX to lease and still not getting prices where I'm satisfied. Can you tell me who you worked with at Honda Cars?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I am new to this forum. I am looking for a 07 Odyssey EX-L with R&N in Richmond,Varginia. I got a quote of 32k OTD. is it a good Price?
  • cherrybarkcherrybark Member Posts: 1
I've read through a year's worth of messages. It's been a real education on the internet buying process. Certainly things have changed from the days of innocently walking into a dealership and being parked in the glass lined office. I look at today's negotiation process as almost a game. Thanks so much to those who have posted their experiences, prices and the details of the entire process.

I am planning to fire the blast of emails in the next couple of days. Has anyone had particularly good experiences with dealers in the DFW or Houston area? I'm certainly willing to travel for the right price.

Is the $2 dealer incentive still active?

    Carl
  • kpartkpart Member Posts: 7
You can do better. The OTD should be between $29,200 - $29,800. It seems that $32K is on the higher side.
  • snowcrash1snowcrash1 Member Posts: 11
I'm also looking for 07 Odyssey EX-L with R&N in Northern Virginia, the price I got from dealer including $2000 rebate is 31K OTD. I'm trying to get 31k with 2.9% finance, but they won't do it. :(
  • snowcrash1snowcrash1 Member Posts: 11
This is what my dealer told me when I told him $30k OTD.

"That's not going to be possible. Here's the situation... Invoice on this car is $31592. When I subtract the $2000 for cash that is $29,592. When you add the fees it will be $31,505.73. Holdback is about $950 (3% of invoice). Which would be about $700 short of your number. First of all this car is not going to be sold for a loss. Second, management may be willing to tap into the holdback, but you will not get all of it. If you want this car, you need to raise up your number. These figures will not change, inventory will."

    What do you guys think?

    Our 2007 EX-L R&N was $28,669 (w/appearance protection package included).

We paid $25,400 PLUS a trade in worth $5500. Total = $30,900 OTD. (TN sales tax)

    Hi,

So far I have bargained,I got these prices (Chicago West suburbs)

    EX-L with RES - 27,200

LX (Base model) - 21,600 (including destination charges)

I am still waiting for a good price :P
  • gujuguygujuguy Member Posts: 19
Today purchased Odyssey EX-L for 26200 including destination. No gimmick, no push to purchase anything extra, infact this was highly advertised price, you go in, ask for the color, sign papers and you are out within in an hour with decent deal. How can you beat that, infact this is better than spending hours online, faxing, talking on the phone or even going to Fitzmall

2 things that I dont understand
    - why people mention OTD price when the tax rate varies significantly state to state. My OTD was 28900, but for someone in Delaware may be 26500.
    - how people are able to get car with more than 2500 below invoice considering 2000 rebate and 2% holdback (and some implicit discount that dealer receives, like they get 5 more 2008 accord than other dealer if they sold 50 more cars). I am sure something is lost in translation (didn't include destination, dealer charges for stupid stuff like windows itching etc)

Can someone comment on it, I am always curious about both the topics but never got chance to post my question here
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Agree - OTD numbers are just confusing due to different tax rates. It's far better to just post price and dealer fees.

Unbelievable numbers, like anything else in life, should be taken for what they're worth.

Am I allowed to ask where did you buy your Honda? The best price I've been able to get on the Touring is 33.9K + Tax/Tag + $599 dealer fee. I've hit 3 of the major dealers here in TPA but this is a big city.

    Thanks!

For what it is worth, I'm in northern va and a local dealer sent me an e-mail today that they are offering all remaining 2007 LX models for $3000 under invoice, plus freight, TTL, processing fee. Based on Edmunds invoice price (including freight) this works out to $20,829 or $20,869 (depends on if freight is $595 or $635).
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    Wow,

That is a good price, But what is Freight?

I thought there will be only TTL & Destination Charges apart from Vehicle price, we have to pay.

if possible, can you give me this Dealers information.

    Thank you,
  • vamomtobevamomtobe Member Posts: 11
From what I understand freight and destination are one in the same. The dealer is Honda of Tysons Corner in Tysons Corner, VA. If you send me your email, I can forward a copy of email I received from the dealer. HTH.

Looking at an EX-L with DVD, NAV, Plus-One Console, Floor Mats, Green Metallic Paint, Destination. First quote is $30,188 and does not include Tax, Title, Reg, Document Prep Fee.

    Questions
    1. This price seems about $2.5K high as Edmunds states that others are paying $27,591 although it isn't clear if this $27.6K figure includes DVD and NAV. Any others in Boston with pricing data?

    2. Anyone hear if the $2K cash back will be renewed after it's current 10-31-07 expiration?

    Thx.

Just bought my 2007 Odyssey EX-L R&N in Central FL Saturday. After $2K discount, selling price (incl destination and handling) was $29,500. They layered on a $599 dealer fee, $120 doc prep, $200 govt stamps (stupid FL thing), $1,850 sales tax (6%). So I guess that's $30,400 before tax, $32,270 after tax. They threw in 2 years of oil changes. 5.99% borrowing rate, they would not give the 2.9%-4.9% and the discount, consistent with other posters.

At first, was quoted the "wrong price" of $29,200, AND was informed of a $599 dealer fee. Thinking I was just coming in to pick up the van, I'm now $900 poorer. I walked out, needless to say, and they let me.

Went to look at Sienna at Toyota next door, and long story short they offered me a trade credit on my leased SUV, saying it was worth more than the buyout option (I'm 7k short on mileage allotment). I gave Honda another chance, said if they would take the lease off my hands (saving me remaining payments), and apply the same trade credit to wash the stealer fee, they could earn my business. They did.

Very happy with the van, feel like I got a great value. Could have been a much better experience without the games. Hope the pricing info helps.

    Tampa2,

I received the price of $32,784 on the Ody Touring R&N from Regal Honda in Lakeland, which was unsolicited. (I had been inquiring about the arrival of the 08's in the Tampa Bay). So based on the inquiry, I had been solicited by AutoWay Clearwater, Gateway, and HondaLand, who all 'claimed' they would beat any best price offer on clearance 07's. I bought my last Accord from HondaLand, so I figured I'd give them the first shot even though I do not like their service department. Hondaland told me, NO WAY!...No one will sell for that price. SO...

I had heard many good things about Kuhn in South Tampa, as well as from a friend who leases from them. So, I called them and they assured me they would beat any price and make the transaction as easy as possible. I drove to them on a Sunday at 4pm. They beat the price by $100 ($32,684) and I drove off in their showroom Ody Touring with several extras.

If you email honda2004tampa@hotmail.com, I can give you more information.

I am in socal also trying to get thru this ordeal some salesmen can be real jerks. Who have you had best experience with.
Whats best price for Odyssey with DVD thats probably the only feature I really need.
What do you consider a good price offer is 1500 down and a lease at 380 a month good for someone with poor credit, that is why i have to lease.
What do you think of The Sienna??
    THANKS

mytouring, which dealer quoted you this $28.7K price? Thanks.
  • gsnoddygsnoddy Member Posts: 14
    Hi Barney17 --

My e-mail is in my profile -- since we're not supposed to put them on the forum...

Anyway, I just spoke to someone from HC Burlington, and his EX-L price was OK -- $26,432 for base, but then he needed to add tax...

It is important to always make sure that we're dealing with the whole OTD cost, as several have sent hard to determine quotes....BUT, the 2K incentive last until the end of the month....so we still have time

About to buy a EXL RES. I followed cilkat's (sp?) advice with using honda.com for requesting quotes and setting a target. Based off some stuff here, was targeting 28800 OTD price (7% sales tax). Was this too low a target? Seemed only 1000 more than what a EXL with no RES was fetching around here. The RES is 1500, figured the dealer could discount that some maybe. Anyhoo, getting OTD quotes from 29200 to 30500.
    Thoughts?

    TampaHonda:

Thanks SO MUCH for your reply. I thought this site would notify me if you posted - I must have messed that up when I registered my name. I used your price quote without knowing the dealers and was able to get 2 of them to match it over the phone, but they would only do that with Ody's in stock. I wanted black on black, no exceptions, so I was in a bind. I called 12 dealers before one in Orlando, who had black on black, told me the there were 4 left in the state. The orlando dealer was stuck on about 33.8K + the typical dealer fee ($400-600). Luckily he shared with me the other dealers' names, who were in Miami and Ft. Walton and another dealer in Orlando. The Miami dealer wouldn't move off the same price as Orlando. Crown Honda in Pinellas Park promised me they could get black on black and agreed to 33.5 + $400 dealer fee + tax/tag. He promised to drive it to my house and pick up my trade for that price. My wife wants the black on black so I ate the roughly $700 difference. At least they are delivering to my house! The MSRP is 39.9K, invoice around 36K, so I didn't do too badly - you stole it at 32.6.

I bought my 03 Ody from Kuhn and would have used them again, but the internet guy was a little slow on the uptake and didn't pursue the black on black very hard. And the Lakeland dealership, who were great to speak with, told me today they could deliver a black on black for 33.8 plus $375 dealer fee (lowest in the state dealer fee). I already had a better deal but was glad I made all the phone calls.

Side note - I paid consumer reports for their new car service to tell me pricing. Don't do that, the information on Edmunds is just as good (except for dealer holdback info).

    Thanks again!

Here's the situation -- looking for an EX-L, and have two OTD quotes for $27,640. This includes TTL, Doc...and incorporates the 2K dealer incentive.

Looking to get lower, and wanted to get your thoughts about whether I should wait till closer to the end of the month...Colors are not an issue for me.

Some dealers also put expiration dates on their quotes -- I plan to buy this month to take advantage of the 2K incentive -- any idea whether dealers will extend their quote expiration (such as 10/22/07)?

    Tampa2,

Glad I could assist you. Funny, we were after the black on black Touring, too. My wife REALLY wanted it. Hondaland had one and we tried to get it, but they wouldn't deal. Kuhn was willing to get it, but they couldn't offer the $32.6k unless I took possession of their stock; so was the situation with Regal, Autoway, and Gateway. Kuhn had a black on ivory, so we were going to buy that one until we saw the nimbus gray on olive in the showroom, so we took it home.

    Couple other things:

I bought a 5yr/unlimited mile Tire Protection Plan/Warranty for $280. It covers road hazard and damage to the PAX tires; full replacement for all but normal wear and tear.

I found an on-line dealer, who can sell the HondaCare Warranty in FL for 5yr/80k for $740, as well as the other yr/mile combos for ALOT less than FL dealers.

And finally, grille inserts for protection of the A/C condenser. I bought from www.cloud-rider.com; $244 custom made fit. however, another entry provided this link: http://www.autodirectsave.com/product/list/2007/Honda/Odyssey/Grilles. Wish I would have seen these before I dropped $244.

Best of luck with the new Ody. Keep me posted on the delivery and transaction.

Clubsports, can you name the dealers that have quoted you $27.6K as I am looking for the same configuration. My guess is that there will be some kind of financial incentive extension to motivate buyers through December. Gas is going up again, the sub prime mortgage mess is bad and getting worse and large vehicle demand will pull back a bit. If you can wait until December you may get a better deal as it's the last month of the quarter and the fiscal year and dealers want to ring up as many vehicle sales as they can for their 2008 factory allotment. But if you are splitting hairs over $200 or so, then I would buy once you feel it's right. Thanks for your dealer location feeback.

I've already received updated '07 pricing from all the dealerships that I've been negotiating with. One dealer said they would go considerably lower than $32,800 on a '07 Touring (waiting for actual price). I also received a price of $27,253 for an EXL with RES & Nav. Just last week they wanted $30,786.

A new incentive has probably taken effect.
  • jonfrasierjonfrasier Member Posts: 20
The dealer sent another email and corrected the price for the EXL w/ RES & Nav - it is not $27,253. Damn, I was ready to jump at the deal.
  • barenstambarenstam Member Posts: 6
So if it's not $27,253 what is the correct price for the EXL w/RES & Nav??
