I can bet that you will have over $1400 + in repairs if my 07 is any indication of the repairs usual to these vans. I'm on our 3rd transmission and under 12000 miles! Thank God we got the 120K 7 year warranty!
This is from the Bernardi site:
NOTICE
BernardiWarranty.com has learned that Honda may, as of April 1, 2008, prevent us offering Honda Warranties at ‘rock-bottom’ pricing through the economies of internet marketing. To take advantage of Bernardi's low internet prices we urge you to purchase before this deadline!
Their 96 month 120K warranty is $1195 for Georgia, I don't know if it differs in other states.
We have been very pleased with buying our warranty and also Honda parts from them. You get a $30 credit towards parts when you order a warranty or vice-versa.
car price = CP= Honda Odyssey EXL = $26,038.70
tax + Tg = $1,213.85
freight = $635
processing fee = $385

That seems like a pretty good deal...would really like to know some advice on making it a better deal. I wanted to get to $27,500 but I would take additions to the $28,272.55 package in lieu of a lower price. Can someone give me suggestions on how I can get this price (a) lower or (b) w/ additional benefits to me?
I have a 2000 Subaru Outback Ltd Wagon w/ 95K miles in good shape. Blue Book is between $7500-8500...should I try to trade it in or sell it myself?
Thank you very much for any advice.
for example, i sold a nissan altima and people were tripping over themselves to buy it. i had a saab 9-3 coupe and you could hear the crickets chirp. i ended up going with a consignment lot for my saab as it was slow going. it ended up that the lot owner cut me a check on the spot.
i would suggest you look at your local craig's list and see what folks are asking for similar cars. i'd also track those ads and see how long they stay around.
of course, you'll want to strike you best deal on the car w/o trade and then discuss the value of your car to get the actual price they are offering for you ride. then compare all the numbers, subtract out all the hassles and see what the difference is.
best of luck
I paid 27000 for the 08 EX-L plus TTT. I bought this from Autopark Honda in Cary, NC.
I think I was close to the absolute bottom the dealer could have gone, which I guess is perhaps around 26700.
I think it was a reasonable deal. Did not buy any extended warranties or paint protection, etc. Why pay 2000 for something that kicks in at least 3 yrs from now and remember, most vehicles do not have major problems before 100k miles which these extended warranties will not cover. Also, the third party warranty being offered was from CNA which has an AMBest rating of A. This is not a great rating considering the top rating is A++.
I would rather put that 2 grand in a mutual fund and let it grow for 3 years. If a repair is needed(less likely before 100k), I would pay for it but if there are no problems(more likely) I keep the money instead of the some warranty underwriter.
The extended warranty makes sense only when you plan to drive the vehicle 20k miles or more in a year.
if you are in Georgia, and you are on your third transmission in 12K miles, you probably qualify for Georgia's lemon law. I haven't had to deal with it in quite a while, but I believe if you experience a problem in the first 12 months/12K miles of ownership, and it recurrs two more times, you can get Honda to buy your van back or replace it.

Leasing can be better or worse than purchasing--there are lots of factors: the car, your financial situation, your expected usage of the car, how much the lease (or purchase) is subsidized by the manufacturer and how (lower money factor vs. elevated residual), how much you dislike negotiating trade-ins, the uncertainty about depreciation on a particular car, your attitudes about risk, etc. The list goes on and on, and the factors are different for different people.
Personally, I've been burned a couple times on unexpectedly high depreciation on cars (a 1999 Range Rover being the worst example), so I prefer to let the leasor take that risk. If they set the residual too high, the car will be worth much less than the residual value at lease-end and you will have paid less for the depreciation on the car than you would if you purchased it. In my opinion, this is one of the major advantages of leasing. If they set the residual too low, you will pay more during the lease, but you can make up some of that with equity left in the car at lease-end.
If Honda was doing something like 0% interest financing on purchases, I would have been more inclined to purchase. Same if they weren't subsidizing the money factor on Odyssey leases--.00113 (equivalent to 2.71% APR) is pretty hard to pass up, even with a residual value that I feel is a couple percentage points too low.
You make a valid point about maintenance--it's nice to have the car in warranty during your entire ownership period. My experience is that cars tend to have expensive repairs in years 4 and 5, coincidentally just after the warranty period ends. Not an issue if you have a 3-year lease.
can you send me the quote? m.robinson@ups.com hope to do as well as you

2008 EX-L
Base: 25625.00
Processing Fee: 89.00
Dest: 635
No dealer installed options.
It was a absolutely hassle free process. I highly recommend the honesty of this sale manager. She also gave me trade-in price which is $500 higher than Carmax's offer. We are very happy about the entire process.
Most important thing was, she was able to handle the entire transaction (buy and sell) along, no harassment from the used-car manager and other managers like another dealership.
On the other end, a Bethesda, MD dealership told me to bring in the email offer and they will match it, which turn out to be a waste of our time.
BTW, we were able to get 2.9% finance for 60 months that was offered from Honda.
I hope the report will help other odyssey buyers.

Could you kindly send me a copy of the invoice. I contacted the dealer and flatly denied that any such deal had been made. Also they said there has been no 2.9% APR for the past two weeks. Hence please send me a copy so that I can get the same deal. ksavm02@yahoo.com
Thanks

Congrats on your new car! Would it be possible that you email the quote/deal that you received from the dealer that you bought your car from?
TIA,

How to get 2.9% financing on 2008 Odyssey EX-L model?
Please help.
Thanks,
Just a silly question. Is it ok to directly forward an email quota from one deal to another, including dealer name and saleperson' s name? Or just the quota itself without mentioning any specific names.
Tried to match prices between deals and was asked to bring in the written quota with the lower price.
Thanks!
