MSRP is a running theme for Minneapolis/St Paul area. The five metro dealers (Burnsville, Richfield-Bloomington, Hopkins, Brookdale, & Buerkle) all seem to be running a 6 to 8 week wait on the EX(s). The LX can be had a little quicker. Hopkins and Burnsville were asking MSRP+ but that was about three months ago.

I did just read, however, that in southwest WI an EX-L was had for MSRP - $300 (Boyland Honda).

    Getting there...
2003 Honda Odyssey EX-LRES - Midnight Blue Pearl
2004 Honda Accord EX-L Graphite Pearl
2007 Honda Civic EX - Atomic Blue
2013 Honda Civic LX - Crimson Pearl

I don't KNOW who gave you 1000 under MSRP,unless that dealer is desperately wanted to make a sale.
Iam telling that people paid a sticker and 3 grand over sticker in Florida.
People traded their Lexus GS400 to get an Ody EXL.
I've seen people that traded their Mercedes for an Ody .
Iam sure you say it proudely that you own a Honda not a Chevy or Chrysler...
You take your kids to a Soccer games/baseball you are a proud owner, you reverse that 3 rd seat and enjoy your kid playing.
People that have money don't complain about $$.

You people are selfish you want your cake and eat it,you have to pay for it.

The Odyssey is arguably a better van even at sticker than a Windstar or Caravan with their 2000 rebates. The MSRP of the Ody is very reasonable considering the features, room and power of the vehicle. Don't worry about what the sticker says, make your offer and see what happens. I bought my 2000 LX in Dec 99 for MSRP with mud flaps and remote keyless entry thrown in for good measure, so you could argue that I actually paid a couple hundred under MSRP (and no dealer doc fees). The van had been delivered and a deal had fallen through and it was available on the lot. I didn't like paying sticker but the van was easily worth to me the asking price, so I bought it and haven't for a minute regretted the decision. I have recently checked resale and trade in because my inlaws want to by the van from me (would be their second car from me) and I would love to move up to the 2002 LX with the rear discs, 5 speed and traction control. The resale/trade-in values are quite high because the van is still very highly sought after. So maybe I'll get some of that back if I decide to sell it to them. The market dictates the prices, and you'll be happy with the van if you take the plunge. Best of luck and happy hunting.

I was wonedring did you have to pay the full GA tax upon registration (ie 6 or 7 %) or did you have to pay AL tax or both. Do youhave to GA tax if you bought this in AL. Thanks

Anyone getting any better than MSRP north of Boston? Now looking, not in a hurry.. Are there better deals on EX than LX???
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
Maybe in the near future. I think there's a better chance on an LX, the EX has higher demand.

We spoke with two sales in Bernardi Honda in Natick last month, and they told us that they always sell their ody below the MSRP. We were just browsing, it may be a good place to start...

thought you all might want to know that Honda is now producing 3,362 Odyssey per week (1,154 in Alabama)
Production since 1 Jan 42,100 unit
    last 1 Jan 38,462 unit

    March totals 8878 Canada
    3375 Alabama

Note that Honda is producing more MDX in Canada than last year, so total Odyssey increases not as impressive.

Just when Pilot begins to cut into the figures is a little uncertain to me as production is still expanding in Alabama.

Honda will have a line of SUVS, Vans all of which will be selling near MSRP this Summer.

I'm in Tallahassee, have been dealing with Tally, Jacksonville, and Orlando dealers. Tally offered a $500 "discount" right off the bat (although they add a $200 settlement charge), Jacksonville Coggin's internet manager refused to deal, telling me that he had people coming from North Carolina to pay MSRP+, then couldn't explain why Tally was offering below MSRP. With Orlando, one dealership had volume, but I never got to price with them. Tally doesn't have much stock, either, it would have to be an advance order. Thomasville, GA had no stock last time I checked.

I've got relatives in South Florida and am thinking about making a few calls in advance of a trip down there this weekend. We'll see if there's any competitive prices down there. If so, we'll be driving two vehicles back!

Ordered a EX-L, Granite Green from Honda North in Danvers. Checked out Herb Chambers, same as Honda North but reminded me of the slick old time dealers. Commonwealth Honda, Lawrence, added extras then discounted the price.
Honda North was real down to earth and good to deal with. If anyone has any suggestions let me know..

We ordered it the end of January with a 3 month wait.

Also, we wanted Havasu Blue but still not available.

For what it is worth, there is a Honda Presidential Award dealership in the Melbourne/Space Coast area, which because of its award standing with Honda gets (or was getting) an extra allocation every so often of 10 units. I believe you can figure it out the Presidential dealers by searching the Honda web site for dealers. I am also presuming that the proximity to 95 makes that area a good one for picking up the car during or post excursion to S. FL.

I would also suspect a correlation between Prez dealers and better prices, based on simple supply and demand and the desire to move the extra allocation quickly when received.

Thanks for the info. After calling a number of dealerships between Tallahassee and Miami, and finding little (wrong color) or no stock, I finally found one in Ft. Lauderdale which just happened to get in this morning a Granite Green EX. I got it for 26,890, including destination charge. I'm adding crossbars, splashguard, and wheel locks for about $450. I could probably get a little better deal if I kept searching or waited, but I'm happy with getting the color I wanted (or more correctly, my wife wanted!) this weekend, at under MSRP.

I'm especially happy to get it at that price considering I was in LA last week and saw that Odyssey's are being marked up $5K over MSRP. I guess everything is expensive out there!

We paid 26,740 dollars for a Mesa Beige Odyssey EX at Voss Honda. DO NOT GO TO HIDY HONDA IN BEAVERCREEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will rip you off. If we bought from Hidy Honda, we would have to pay $30,000 for an Odyssey EX with no leather or TV or Nav system. At Voss Honda, our deal was like this:
    $27,190
    - $ 450
    $26,740
ask for Mohommed Usman. He gave us mudguards for a cheap $119 added to the $26,740.
  • inky4inky4 Member Posts: 238
Nice deal but mud guards can be had for about $58.80 bucks online at hondaacuraworld.com
so that is not cheap. Just a public service announcement. No shipping, No tax.

I've also had problems negotiating with Hidy. Castruci wanted a non-refundable deposit on an Oddy and none on the lot to drive (few months ago), still who puts money on something they can't drive or see or touch. Voss is the place to go, I'm looking at the Pilot and have had some luck with White-Allen in the past, so I'm talking with them now. Any thoughts on White-Allen? Frank Z and Acura of Dayton are money hungry, not to mention rude. Lexus is so nice, only if they had affordable cars with 3rd seats.
We're from Cleveland where you could get a $500 off Oddys 2 years ago(They charge out of staters MSRP, but will ship them to their state for free---Sunnyside and Heights Motorcars). If I have any trouble with the Pilot, looks like a day trip to Cleveland where somebody will work for my business.

Didn't see any recent posts from Texas folks. What are people paying for the EXL/Entertainment pkg?
  • howdydhowdyd Member Posts: 10
They are selling at MSRP in San Antonio.

Is there a specific dealership in San Antonio that's selling at MSRP?

Gillman Honda ,Gunn Honda and Tom Benson selling at MSRP.

I was wondering- why should we pay over a thousand dollars for a factory installed DVD player when now the notebook computers do the same thing. Also, the computer can do a lot more, and you can take the laptop computer with you when you leave (the van, that is). You can also upgrade the computer as technology continues to rapidly change.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I use a notebook DVD, and it's worked well for me. I got a car charger, and note that you can transfer it to another vehicle so it can replace two or three built-in systems ($$$), plus you can use the computer for other things, like using this Town Hall on trips! :-)

Also, when we arrive at our desination, it's often in the middle of a movie. I've literally carried the notebook and our toddler followed it inside. She would have screamed if we turned it off.

It's like a portable baby-sitter some times. And the 14" screen offers 4 times the viewing area of a 7" model. Sound is usually poor, so get headphones.

Pros: cheaper, portable, serves many cars/locations, massive 14" screen

Cons: have to bungee it down, get good headphones because built-in sound is poor

We ordered our 2002 EX-L RES in Havasu Blue yesterday at $1100 under MSRP and DIO at cost (wheel locks, subwoofer and leather steering wheel cover). We are hoping to take delivery by end of June or first of July. There was no hassle and this was all done over the phone as the dealership is 90 miles away.
  • howdydhowdyd Member Posts: 10
Where and how did you manage to get it for $1100 under?
  • formy3kidsformy3kids Member Posts: 40
We ordered it from Crown Honda in Greensboro, NC. We went through the internet sales manager, Steve Weinstein.

Has anyone purchased an Odyssey recently from the three main dealers in SW Florida (Germain Honda, Ft. Myers Honda and Port Charlotte Honda)? Was any one offering a better deal on an LX than the other ones? How about in Sarasota? Thanks.
  • ronm5ronm5 Member Posts: 1
Scubiecon inquiry on prices/availability in this area is not good at this time. I visited Charlotte Honda a few days ago. Looking for a EX-NAV. The initial asking price was a shocking 7 thousand over MSRP, his final offer was 2800 over MSRP - I walked. I next visited FT Myers, They wanted 2208 over MSRP plus a 400 doc fee for a EX-L. All that plus an attitude - not negotiable.
Germain Honda I did not visit, but did email a request, no reply as yet (3 days ago).
I am now expanding my search to other areas.
Good luck if you try these bozos.

That sounds like you got a great deal (other than a little wait)! I noticed that you had a post on the "Honda Odyssey" thread a few days ago where you mentioned that the dealer was offering $500 under MSRP (MSRP - $699 Internet Order + $199 Processing Fee) for the HB EX-L-RES. I was just wondering how you got the deal down to -$1100 under MSRP from -$500 under MSRP(a decent deal in itself)? I thought I'd have to wait a few more months, at least, before I could hope to get a deal like yours (and it's for the elusive Havasu Blue too). If I could get a similar deal to yours now from Crown in Greensboro (an hour away for me) I'd buy/order now.
  • ltb530ltb530 Member Posts: 12
Its a great deal! Did you have to pay that $289 doc fee on top of everything? or $1100 off MSRP includes that fee? TIA.

What kind of lease prices are people seeing
for the Odyssey EX with leather/dvd. Figure
36-months, 15,000 miles? What are the experiences out there?
  • formy3kidsformy3kids Member Posts: 40
We were working with a dealer (internet manager) in my city, Charlotte, NC. He is the one who had the $699 under MSRP + $199 doc fee. We emailed the internet manager at Crown Honda in Greensboro, NC to see if we could get a better deal. He called us back and he asked us what we would like to get the van for. We told him $1000 under MSRP and that the other dealers doc fee was $100 less than his ($289), so he offered $1100 off MSRP. Plus, he will deliver it to our house, 90 miles away, for free. This is for a June allocation that was submitted on the day we ordered this van (Friday April 5). We have found that the best deals are made with the internet managers (non commissioned sales).
  • ltb530ltb530 Member Posts: 12
Thanks for sharing the details here and enjoy the van.
  • scubieconscubiecon Member Posts: 8
Whew! Thanks for the warning. Let me know if you find anything at a surrounding dealership. Certainly not averse to traveling to Tampa, Orlando or Miami to get an Odyssey for a price resembling "reasonable." Doesn't sound like that will happen in our area. My lease on my Toyota is up in August, and I would like an Odyssey. But I'm not going to abandon all logic to own one.

I just picked up a EX-L RES for MSRP. Got lucky. The dealer had one coming in that I wanted.... Mesa Beige. Bought from Space Coast Honda on Merrit Island, Fl. Tried dealing with JAX and St Aug Fl dealers....all are less than customer friendly and only one promised MSRP. One even emailed me he sold "mine from under me for 500 over MSRP", like he enjoyed it....I found Space Coast Honda exceptional and Rate them A+. Told me last week that "I'm in luck" and they were dead right. I was ready for a 2-3 month wait.....whouda thunk I'd get one in 6 days! Talk to or see Rene or Jorge at the dealer. I picked up the Oddy hassle free in less than one hour on a Satyrday afternoon. No hard sells or even asked about add-ons. The paperwork guy has me thru the paper mill in about 10 minutes.....

I'm military leaving Hawaii in June for a cross country trip to North Carolina. Desiring to purchase an EX-with leather in LA area and drive cross country. What are prices in LA area? Any particularly good dealer that is reputable?Looking for o/a MSRP. Is this a good idea? Thanks for suggestions.
  • ksyrupksyrup Member Posts: 11
As for LA, I was on vacation end of March in Newport Beach and they were marked up $5,000. Don't know what they are selling for.

To whomever is looking in SW FL, I'm in Tallahassee and just got back this weekend from purchasing a Granite Green EX from Maroone of Hollywood (near Ft. Lauderdale). Bought it over the phone for a few hundred dollars under MSRP - I probably could have pushed for an even better deal, but I wasn't sure whether they would balk, as I got the only one of 4 EX's from their shipment last week that wasn't already sold. Might have been good timing on my part, but it seems like they get a fairly regular shipment. They told me (after I purchased, btw) that they had 15 Odysseys two weeks ago and I bought the last one.

They even beat the 5.89%, 60 month financing I brought in by getting me 5.75%. We were out the door in less than an hour!

I bought an EX at MSRP plus $399 admin fee at Palm Harbor Honda on US 19 in Palm Harbor FL (just north of Clearwater). This is a new dealership that just opened and they have quite a few on the lot of both EX and EXL. Same deal as others in the area but they gave me the best deal on my trade. I bought from Patrick Corrigan at (727) 772-6600.

Drove from Western,Pa to Columbus ,Ohio to celebrate my 60th birthday with my son and his family along with a few friends. Drove to Cleveland, Ohio to Rick Case Honda (Ohio's largest dealer) to test drive the new 2002 Ody EX. We arrived at 11:45 am and completed our test drive at 12:30pm. they had four on the lot that were for sale. Picked out the GG EX. We were treated to a nice lunch at a popular Sports Pub. By 2:45 pm, we were on our way back home. Total wait time about 2hours and 15min. Not the Five to Eight months that our local Honda Dealer had specified and did not have any to test drive. And the good news is they knocked off $800 of the sticker price, bought the Extended 7 year 100,000 mile Honda warrenty for $820.00,Received several free coupons for oil and filter changes, received a life time unlimited free dealer car washes and a four day 3 night vacation in Orlando, Florida with unlimited free golfing. It was a great weekend

For those of you who are looking for a LX; I just bought a new 2002 Odyssey LX with no options, paid 23,520 plus taxes and title (around $1200 off MSRP); no trade. Keep negotiating!

I like the van but the front seat needs more lower back support and padding.

    Good luck!

I'm looking for an EX in WA state, but the best I can get seems to be MSRP+1000.
kimwipes... which dealer did you buy it from? Maybe I can buy from Portland and drive up.
Does anyone know a better price in WA state?

I had a dealer in Washington offer $28,700 for a Silver EX w/ Leather today. Sorry, but I'm holding the information for my customer.

Hey, Ron. I contacted Crown Honda in St. Pete and they are offering MSRP. Then I took ksyrup's suggestion and contacted Maroone Honda in Hollywood (about two hours from Ft. Myers/Cape Coral). They offered $300 below MSRP + tax and tags for the EX. No fees or add-ons. And most important, no attitude. Nice internet sales manager too. His name is Ed Brunjes and you can contact him via this email address: BrunjesE@maroone.com. I'll be getting back with him in June/July to get my silver EX lined up for pick up in August when my lease expires. Oh, and thanks, ksyrup. Great advice!

    canada 37,537 units since 1/1
    us 11,786 units since 1/1
This represents significant increase over last year and confirms the $500 discounts dealers are offering to credit union members in my area.
On an annual basis this could yield 200,000 units.
However, the 80,000 pilots will cut into this eventually but for this spring I think many of you could end up with $1,000 discounts for a while.

Spoke to Les (forget his last name, but believe it or not, he's the ONLY guy up there that's allowed to discuss/sell Ody's--go figure!).

In any event, he's currently offering $500 off sticker for any Ody, plus he's throwing in some 'stuff' (wheel locks, free oil changes for 2 years, etc.).

Prolly not a bad deal, but I suspect things will get even better later this Spring/early this Summer, for those of us that can wait.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
My cousin went there, and you're forced to buy things like $60 pin stripes and lots of other grossly overpriced accessories that are already on the vehicle. You can't get the discount without that stuff, either.

In the end, it cost more than MSRP, so my cousin went to a differnet dealer and just paid MSRP.

Unless they've changed their tune in the last couple of weeks, but I doubt it. The same dealer had ADMs in the thousands for the Accord in the early 90s.

If it helps anyone, we bought a 2002 Granite Green Odyssey LX last week from Jim Miles Honda in Jackson, TN discounted $1,099.90 (that's $900 off MSRP plus waiver of the dealer's $199.90 fee). The dealer had a white LX in stock and did a dealer swap with another dealership in Arkansas that had the color we wanted (by the way, they put the van on a trailer to bring it to Tennessee... had only 15 miles on the vehicle when we took possesion). I think this is a decent price for this area, compared with what others are saying. Anyway, we love the van. Good luck to those still looking. I hope you can do even better!

    It was the Beaverton Honda.

However, just faxing requests to other delearships I got two responses for MSRP also. One was in Salem, OR but the other was in WA, forgot the exact location, but it was like 40 miles north of PDX, shouldn't be hard to locate using Honda's website.
  • strizvstrizv Member Posts: 8
    Kimwipes,

I've been to Beaverton Honda and they won't budge on their price of MSRP + 1,000. EXCEPT on their Canadian models. Are you sure you didn't get one of those? Their offer on the Canadian models was MSRP -200.

I wouldn't pay over 25,500 for a canadian model, considering that they are technically used vehicles with a warranty that requires a $50 deductible for each visit. They're asking you to take on a lot of risk. Plus, the Canadian models are $3,000 cheaper...their profit at Beaverton Honda has gotta astronomical!

Let me know if your deal was on an American model. I was able to get several offers at MSRP in OR & WA as well, but I'm not willing to pay that much for this vehicle. 11% profit margin for the dealer is a bit on the heavy side. Boggles me that so many people are willing to pay it, even considering how good the vehicle is.
