Carsdirect.com price for EX/L was 29,500. Why pay the extra when you can get MSRP from any dealer? Didn't check the price for just EX. Hey inky4, what state is your credit union in?

I got two quotes for MSRP for an EX-L but they can't come up with the car. My search continues ...

Best price I could get was $31190+TTL for Granite Green EX-LDVD. Dealer was Honda of Seattle. Not exactly in stock but scheduled for delivery in 1 week. Good Luck everyone!

Yours is one of the few areas we're seeing an increase in prices.

Got an EX-L at MSRP + 45.00 doc + tax + dmv at Tracy Honda (45 miles from Concord) on March 5. No other add-ons. Actually had 3 other offers at MSRP that weekend. Chose Tracy because it was the first email I opened and they had what I wanted. IMHO use a search engine and search for "car dealer AND 'bay area'" Send requests to everyone and check email often. It seems that when the dealer gets something in they send emails to many people. I was listed with 10 others on the email. Hope this helps. Good luck.

And believe me it's humble. For I'm no expert.

You might find a nominal discount, best chance is Ohio. Scroll up a few posts to see where people are buying them.
  • JPhamJPham Member Posts: 148
Even here in NoCal, you can get EXs for MSRP easily.

Has anyone heard of an Odyssey with an I-VES system?? One dealer in San Antonio told me that it's a monitor with a VCR. He said the DVD is additional and is installed by them. ????
I thought the EX-L with Entertainment system meant DVD. Any clarifications?
  • inky4inky4 Member Posts: 238
dealer installed option for leather Odyssey or other odyssey.
I have not seen a Honda DVD system other than the standard one on the $30,200 one from the factory.

Silver EX, $500 over MSRP, scheduled delivery in a week.
  • pexpertpexpert Member Posts: 3
Yep, in the Tulsa area, I bought an EX-L with entertainment package off the lot and paid straight MSRP + 49.00 "document fee". Looks like supply is finally catching up with demand.

This is my first post to this forum, but I've been following it for many months now. This forum has been super helpful for me!!!

After a week of shopping, we finally took delivery of a 2002 TW Odyssey EX-L. I e-mailed almost every dealer from San Luis Obispo down to San Juan Capistrano for pricing and availability. Ironically, a local dealer, First Honda in Simi Valley, had the van in stock. I had a great experience with this dealership. Here's what we got:

    Odyssey EX-L in Tafetta White
    *Fog Lights
    *Fender Trim
    *Cross Bars
    *Cassette Player
    *Splash Guards
    *Wheel Locks
*Vehicle Theft Registration (VIN # etching)
    *Perma Plate (Similar to Scotchguarding)
    *Honda Care Warranty (7 yr/100Kmi / $0)
    *Every other Oil Change Free

    Out the door price: $34075

Here's the info from the contract. Since I was negotiating an out the door price, I think they took that out the door number number and worked backwards to get the following numbers for the contract. (Ex. it shows that the accessories were $264, but the accessories where far more than that.)

    30091.93 (Vehicle Price)
    264.00 (Accessories)
    45.00 (Doc Fee)
    2204.07 (Sales Tax)
    1225.00 (Honda Care Warranty)
    240.00 (Lic fees)
    5.00 (Tire Fee)

Once again thanks for all the info. If anyone is interested, First Honda had a Silver EX and a MB EX on the lot equipped with the entertainment systems. You can e-mail me if you want my sales person's number. His name was Tony Cortez.

    Hi,
Been getting some feedback (email)from dealers in NoCal, one MSRP on EXL, one MSRP +200 for EX due to exterior Package already installed. Rather than call all the dealers or wait for all the emails on stock...is there a way to find out who has the inventory on the model that I want? The Roseville, CA dealer sys he has 12 Odys in stock, but won't give me a firm price without driving there (70 miles). Guess I'll probably get the HCP independently to keep the haggling to a minimum. Don't want to spend hours of my weekend at the dealership, not to mention the drive.

Don Carleton, Joe Marina or mark Roberts?
As far as I know these guys have always been at MSRP from day one--well Mark Roberts was $316 over invoice for first 1.5 years. Enjoy.

Just took delivery of an 02 GG, EX-L from Boyland Honda in S.E. WI. Paid -$300 off MSRP with mud flaps included. Dealt with Bill Grimes - nice guy, smooth transaction.

I had been to Schlossmans - they were at MSRP; Darrow said they would call back and never did, and Wilde kept telling me they were the biggest Honda dealership in Wisconsin (so what - I only needed one van).

All in all, not a bad experience and the 6 week wait didn't bother me too much. I'll post more thoughts on the van and buying decision on the general Odyssey discussion thread.
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
Sorry, but you overpaid, both the car and the warranty.

Hey, I've been in the market for an Odyssey for over a year; however, I've not been willing to pay MSRP. I'm in the market for the LX. For the past year, the nearest dealer has consistently told me that they were selling for full MSRP. Last week, while visiting my in-laws in Mississippi, I found a dealer who immediately offered $500 off the MSRP for an LX. Coincidentally, I had a message from the local Honda dealer when I got back home. I told him what I had been offered in MS, and he came back with a matching offer. Having read the messages posted recently, I'm now wondering how much to offer. Any helpful advice/experience would be appreciated.

I hear it's better to the north of you, Kentucky and Ohio.
  • edwinfongedwinfong Member Posts: 25
Definitely do not waste time in driving to this dealer, The reason he has 12
Ody's in stock is they charge well over MSRP. When I shopping for my 2000
Ody, they wanted $5000 over MSRP for "market adjustment". I got mine from
Mel Rapton Honda in Sacramento for MSRP but I had to wait. They have
a policy of selling at MSRP but you'll have to go on a wait list. Good luck
    on your search.
  • pexpertpexpert Member Posts: 3
Joe Marina. Maybe they have been at MSRP, but I expected them to be a little more "uppity" with the price. When I first arrived and told them I wanted an Ody, they made SURE to tell me how MUCH the Ody's were in demand and how hard it was to get them. Bottom line, they gave me a fair price (I THINK) and they gave me what the Internet said was blue book (minus $50.00) for my trade in, so I am happy. I LOVE the ODY. MUCH better than the Sienna we looked at long and hard....
Also FYI, Don't know about Mark Roberts. Only two Honda dealers I know about are Joe Marina and Don Carleton...

    Treadltly,

You said that you were seeing prices of MSRP on an EX-L. Which dealer was that? I am in the market for exactly that model and have only talked to a couple of dealers, but they are still talking of MSRP + $1,000. I haven't tried serious haggling yet but would prefer to start with someone who is likely to be sensible.

    Thanks.
  • treadltlytreadltly Member Posts: 12
Yes, I have been getting emails from about 15 dealers...I believe it was Auburn Honda @ MSRP, only when I contacted thru Fleet manager/internet. I got MSRP + 500 in Modesto. There were others @ +500. The only thing I keep finding is that they all seem to have some sort of mandatory add-on, or else (like edwinfong said about Roseville)they are high. Per dealer: "We don't add anything extra", they just charge MSRP + 1,000! Why are some dealers requiring the exterior protection pkg. or interior? Why does Honda's own website quote $598 + $210 installation on the tow pkg., and I get a dealer quote of $1130 for same? Sounds like their padding to me. When I can get a straight MSRP deal with no tricks or surprises, and something in writing, I will make the drive; 100 miles. Thanks to edwinfong for the advice on Roseville. Hadn't checked w/ Mel Rapton, but I will.

BTW I'm sure most of you here know this but, when using Edmund's to find out TMV on vehicles you can use different zip codes. AAA uses Edmund's TMV price page and I noticed the TMV changed quite a bit depending on a few cross country zip codes I tried. Link to AAA/Edmund's TMV:

http://www.csaa.com/buyacar/vehiclepricing/0,7781,1002010300,00.html. You may be able to type in a few in a neighboring state to get an idea of other dealers to try. I've read about plenty of Easterners willing to go a few states.

mark roberts honda is in Bartelsville. (MSRP+ 49 also that is why I asked)
    Glad you like your van.

Here's the "direct" True Market Value link. After you select the model you want (LX, EX, etc.), click on the "Price With Options" button to really narrow it down.

I AM IN THE MARKET FOR AN ODYSSEY IN FLORIDA? ANY ONE KNOW OF ANY DEALERS IN FLORIDA THAT IS HELPFUL? ONE DEALER HERE IN JACKSONVILLE WOULD NOT LET US TEST DRIVE THE VAN IF WE WERE NOT GOING TO ORDER ONE. WE TURNED AROUND AND WALKED OFF THE DEALERSHIP.
  • ltb530ltb530 Member Posts: 12
HOW MUCH DID THEY QUOTE YOU DOWN IN FLORIDA??? Sorry I am going deaf.

Deland Honda will sell at MSRP. Jacksonville dealerships add $2000 - $2500 to MSRP.
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
The last volley I sent found anywhere from $1000+ over MSRP to $200 over close to the Bay Area. Fresno County dealer hit us at MSRP but the customer wanted to buy closer to home.
  • ltb530ltb530 Member Posts: 12
Where I live, I am being quoted anywhere from MSRP to $500 below MSRP for an EX-L.
  • dicnicdicnic Member Posts: 2
Just had a MSRP quote in Delray Beach for an EX-L. Also, they had one of those add on stickers for some "stuff" that totaled over $900.00 but the salesman said "Ignore that". MSRP + tax, tags, title and their "fee" which was quoted as $299.00. Didn't buy yet but was surprised that they did not add "market value" as I had been told. Love the van!!!
  • white21white21 Member Posts: 3
I hope I will luck up and find a dealer close to home (Jax) that will go alittle below MSRP. I know it's probably a dream!

After getting several quotes for MSRP + 113 TTL for an EX-L, I got a dealer to accept MSRP-200, roughly 28600 with all fees. Technically it was MSRP-400, but they have a 189 VTR (vehicle theft registration or 'etching' the windows), but I'm counting that as pure profit for them. I negotiated on the whole price, so I did not care how they break it down. Not the best deal, but one I'm OK with

Everyone who wants to purchase an Odyssey in the Atlanta area, read this. I purchased my 02 Odyssey EXL-RES (DVD) from Treadwell Honda in Alabama for $29000 with a $189 processing fee. That price includes destination, but not tax, title, registration in GA. The salesperson's name is Matt Sellers and his number is: 800-475-8682. He was great to work with.
  • jughead2jughead2 Member Posts: 2
I've received 3 internet prices at MSPR for the EX-L with DVD in the Jacksonville area. Another 3 a few hundred above. I'm seriously testing a dealer in St Augustine who told me (face to face) he'll beat MSRP! I want a straight no nonsense cash deal and intend to make that very clear......no add-ons, no gimmicks or I book in a heartbeat and pick another dealer. Lets see what happens, I'll let you know.
  • oldstyleoldstyle Member Posts: 41
Last week I was offered $1,000 under MSRP on a LX with no options (another dealer ofered $500 the week before). But since the wife said the Ody was to big and drove like a boat, we will be looking elsewhere. Can you say ZOOM ZOOM.
  • ody_driverody_driver Member Posts: 1
I got an EX-L at MSRP from Tracy Honda in the weekend. The sales person is Don Mason. He's very friendly at all the time. He didn't push to sell anything extra. Their number is 1.209.832.1400. They ask for $1000 over MSRP. But if the van sits for more than two days on the floor, they're willing to negotiate down.

If you choose the purchase option, please make sure to bring your checkbook. I brought a stack of credit cards along and they would only take the check.

What dealership in NE Ohio? I live in OH, too. Thanks in advance.
  • oldstyleoldstyle Member Posts: 41
The $1,000 off was at Apostolakis Honda in Cortland (near Warren). I bought my 97 Civic (110K and going strong) from them.

The $500 off was at Park Honda in the Akron/Canton area. That's were I take the Civic for service.

    Hope that helps.

Wife and I are just starting our search for a replacement to the 96 Odyssey we've had for 6 years. Of course, the new one's are the first choice (we now have 3 kids!), but Fors is offering 2.9% for 60 mos AND $2500 cash, so the competition (agree or not) is still fierce. Can someone point me in the right direction in my area for the best deal - name and contact number at your dealer please. I will tell them you sent me so maybe you'll get a great deal when you are ready for another car!

I am looking for Odyssey EX-L.
All of the dealers in MN want MSRP, $28,690 (base price + delivery charge).
    1) Is this a reasonable price?
    2) How much should I pay for the "Honda Care" factory extended warranty?

Anyone of you know Honda dealerships in Wisconsin?

    Thanks for all your help!

I'm pretty sure you'd have to go to Ohio to get a discount.

Will be available in June. I posted earlier about Havasu Blue availability and Hondas problem in getting up to speed with this new color.
