Just got a quote for $31,817 including destination. Central Jersey. I'm having them email me the breakdown of fees. Sounds pretty good....we'll see what the OTD price is.
  • pkkpkk Member Posts: 3
    Hi

Did you get the breakdown and the OTD Price. Who is the dealer. I will be interested to go there.

    Thanks
  • kim43kim43 Member Posts: 5
This $27,9 excludes tax and tags... this van doesn't include RES either.
  • jk6jk6 Member Posts: 2
Just purchased a 2010 EXL w/ RES in Montgomery County, PA on Saturday. Thanks to all who post on this site. I used the posts to figure out my target price and got it- $31,999 including destination charge. Only additional charges were taxes and minimal doc fee (I kept my old tags).
    Thanks!
  • magilladkemagilladke Member Posts: 15
Can you share which dealer you bought the car from?

    Thanks.
  • jk6jk6 Member Posts: 2
I bought from Conicelli. Sloane (in Philly) also gave me the same quote initially and then tried to raise it $500 the next day. I recommend Conicelli.
  • ckrolckrol Member Posts: 9
Not yet, still working on it, getting competing offers...hoping to have the car by Saturday. It will prob be thru either Princeton Honda or Hamilton Honda. I'll post all the details when we get the car Fri/Sat.
  • magilladkemagilladke Member Posts: 15
Thanks for the info. Their Internet quote is about 600 more I thought. Nice job.

I went to Sloan and wasted a bunch of time too. I won't contact hem again either.
  • magilladkemagilladke Member Posts: 15
I was looking at those guys as well. Both have a good price, but I did notice Hamilton Honda's fees are high (250 doc fee). All that counts is OTD though right!

We may just wait for the rebates to kick in a couple of months (hopefully).
  • blokeeblokee Member Posts: 2
I have a quote for EX-RES (not EX-L RES) for 31000 (OTD). Is this a good deal?

    Thx
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
Don't know. OTD includes all kinds of taxes and fees, that vary all over the place. Can you itemize?
  • shadowchasershadowchaser Member Posts: 94
I just had multiple dealers bid against each other on a 2010 EX-l (no res/nav).

I got a base price of 3011. They waived the 700 freight fee. Added a pesky processing fee of 100 dollars. Total was then 30111.72

Taxes were 1217 (reduced by 600 dollars by my trade in of 10000)..so if you can't do that, the tax in md of 6% would have been 1800. Tags/title were 149 (reduced by transferring

OTD was then 31477.93. Not bad!!

They tried to sell me an aftermarket (wachovia) extended warranty for 2300 dollars!! They don't even offer hondacare. I bought the hondacare over the phone from saccucci (google it) 5yrs/100K miles for 750!!

    I took the 2.9% financing....

I am interested in leasing the Odyssey EX-L w Nav and RES. I have shopped a bit through email and found my two best offers so far to be...

    475.30 / month
    2048.61 to pay at pickup

    and

    466 / month
    2094.12 to pay at pickup

Do these sound competitive? Some other dealers were way over these numbers.

The selection seems limited. Should we accept on one of these or keep pushing. I'd love to get lower or the same price with running boards and/or all weather mats.

Which do people find sharper looking -- white/ivory or polished metal/gray???

    Thanks.
  • ckrolckrol Member Posts: 9
Both of those offers seem competitive to me. And those are the two colors I'm trying to decide between as well...I like the white, also because it reflects the hot sun in the summer. I'm also trading in an 07 CR-V that's white/gray and I've loved it. But it's the most pop color, so harder to get, so I'm trying to stay flexible to get a great price.

I'd negotiate to go a little lower and ask for BOTH running boards and weather mats---because then they'll come back and prob say either they'll give you both but not lower the price, or one or the other. I'd also go the last day of this month, they'll want to close the deal and be done w/it.

Just bought 2010 Odyssey EX in NJ
    26898
    710 Dest
    249 Docs
    7% tax
    399 4 yr Registration

    How'd I do
  • marltashmarltash Member Posts: 9
if that was the ex -- did you get a feel for what the ex-l w/ nav and dvd might be? thanks
  • parparbogeyparparbogey Member Posts: 3
I went in under the costco program. The Ex and EX-L were both at Invoice. I told them I had a better deal and they matched . Kay Honda in Eatontoen NJ
  • planetneutralplanetneutral Member Posts: 1
This is the best offer I have on the table at present on a 2010 EX-RES:

    28953.29 (incl. dest)
    2026.73 (7% tax)
    190.25 (doc/title fee)

    $31,170.27 OTD

Should I be able to do better than this? I'm not really feeling this dealer as they're giving me the "this price expires at 10AM tomorrow" line, which no one else is doing.

Alos, anyone know what the new incentives are going to be? Two dealers mentioned that Honda said they'd be changing for sure.
  • sunjanasunjana Member Posts: 6
    Best price I could get was 33,800 + $299 processing fee + 188 tags + 2308.04 tax (I live in DC so it is 7%) = OTD $36,711.

    How did I do?
  • ckrolckrol Member Posts: 9
We went w/Hamilton, Central Jersey. New dealership, they want to be competitive, and they have a huge lot. Went on last day of the month (I highly recommend that--they really wanted to make a sale) No haggling because it was all done via email. I recommend that as well. We told them we'd be going to a diff dealer right after and they didn't want us to walk out the door.

    price, 31800 incl dest
    doc 200
    NJ tire tax 7.50
    kept our old plates

give or take a little it was OTD 34500.00

they gave us a great deal on our trade---we had the Kelley BB printout w/us and they went way above in order to keep us from walking out.

Lots of typical car salesmen types, but whatever, price was most imp. I think we got a great deal. And 1.9% financing.
  • ckrolckrol Member Posts: 9
I think you did well, it looks like I got the same deal, just without the navigation system. Enjoy the car!
  • odysseybaodysseyba Member Posts: 14
So after looking around for a long time for a EX-L w NAV/RES, I have a quote for Invoice + dest + (DMV + sales tax) here in Bay Area if I go for 1.9% 36 month financing. OTD cost for BA is $33694+$710+$3666 = $38070. They just sent me a email for invoice so I added up the cost and sent them a email with OTD price. Waiting for them to confirm that they dont add any just fees on top of this.
Should I just go for it or need to shop around some more. I want to buy a van but I can wait a month if need be!
  • ckrolckrol Member Posts: 9
do you have another quote? get in touch w/another reputable dealer, email them that breakdown of fees and ask them to beat it....then go to original dealer first, tell them you're going to leave and head to another dealer because they said they'd beat it, and they'll probably go lower...and not just by $20, they'll go significantly lower because they want your business. (Or they'll say "how much lower do we need to be to keep you here") Worked for us! If you can wait longer....they'll be marking down the vans lower in the spring because the new redesigned 2011 model hits dealers in Aug and they'll need to clear out the 2010s.
  • odysseybaodysseyba Member Posts: 14
Well Aug is a little bit too long for us. I dont think we can wait that long. I am talking to a second dealer in BA and I can feel that they are almost to a point where they are saying that you can go ahead and take the offer from the other one. I am visiting the second one today in person with a printout of the email because they are no longer responding via email.
  • joey65joey65 Member Posts: 9
    Hey ckrol,

Did Hamilton charge you anything for the transfer of old plates? Thank you!
  • sunjanasunjana Member Posts: 6
The Honda dealers are loving the toyota recall. I've pretty much owned only Toyotas and think that they are reliable but I did notice that the Honda dealership was busier than usual due to people avoiding Toyota. I think that this affected my ability to get lower than 33,800 on ex-l with res and nav because I shopped around and was told by two other dealers to just take the deal b/c they were unwilling to beat it. Best quote I received for a touring was 39,900 (OTD with 7% tax in DC). If toyota did not have a recall, I probably would have received a better deal because the new sienna's are almost out and will certainly take a bite out of the potential ody customers.

I was wondering if you bought the car and the price you agreed upon. Guessing around $22K before taxes and DMV fees ? It does sound like a good deal.
I'm asking because I'm about to look at a cert. pre-owned '08 EX with 14,846, leather, alloy wheels, etc. They are asking $24K but I was going to offer $21K with the hope of paying around $22K ! Thanks for your input in advance !

Are there some incentives out there for dealers? This seems like a good px. I was at a dlr today who quoted 31,500, then when I'm walking away (its my first day of shopping) he says what if I took 1k off...(30,500 I guess). This is lower than stated invoice, and much lower than Edmunds "TMV" What am I missing?

Can you provide location details? TIA.

I am looking for EX-L w/o NAV in NJ.

    Hello All,
I am shopping around for a 2010 Odyssey. Could anyone tell me how much they paid for a 2010 Odyssey LX, EX or EX-L in DC area (VA, MD & DC)? Any dealer recommendations? I haven't decided the model yet. Thanks.
  • icristi58icristi58 Member Posts: 6
I have received an internet quote of $37,800, including destination charge. This the first offer from this dealer. What should be a reasonable counteroffer, if any? I live in the midwest, thank you.
  • tripsplus1tripsplus1 Member Posts: 2
Looks like the offer you got was a good one. I picked up my 2010 EX-L w/ RES last week for $32,417 (1 dollar over invoice) at Tarrytown Honda in Westchester County, NY.
  • yhk81yhk81 Member Posts: 5
I was just offered $26,958 for 2010 Honda Odyssey EX (no options). The dealer said this was possible because of a cash incentive that Honda just released today for the month of February. Has anybody else heard of this? And what do you think of the offer?
  • yeye6yeye6 Member Posts: 2
    Is that a OTD price?
  • dbtdbt Member Posts: 298
Looks like marketing support is at $1250.
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
So we should basically take whatever target price we were aiming for before, and subtract 1250, right?
  • yhk81yhk81 Member Posts: 5
    edited February 2010
yeye6...no that price does not include fees, tax, etc... just the car price.

I'll give some more details when I get them, but after calling around today I will tell you do not be satisfied with getting invoice - seems like well below invoice is possible - but at a minimum, invoice less $1250. I'd bet you could get the EX for 26,500 (this includes the 710 but not doc fees or taxes) -- maybe even a few hundred lower. Just my guess as I am shopping for the higher trim lines so I haven't seen any straight EX pricing....

If you live in a metro area with many dealers, just call them......most will give you a quote and you'll soon get a sense of what is possible.....
  • icristi58icristi58 Member Posts: 6
I just ordered a 2010 Touring polished metal metallic with black leather interior for 36,687 , destination charge included with splashguards added per dealer. I live in the Midwest
  • yeye6yeye6 Member Posts: 2
Then it is not good enough I guess....
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
EXL-RES 30,150 plus TTL (yes this includes the 710 already). Invoice 32,416 for comparison. Deals are out there if you want to make them happen, guys. I got this after 1.5 days of calling around and a couple in person final negotiation sessions.

    Good luck all
  • sww3sww3 Member Posts: 1
Wow! Which Dealership in which location did you get the deal? Thanks.
  • rd12rd12 Member Posts: 2
that is an amazing price! Give us details on location, dealership please.
  • aks112aks112 Member Posts: 3
I bought an EX-L w/RES yesterday. Paid $30,535 +TTL. Destination included as well as cargo tray and all season floor mats. 3.79% financing.
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
This price, or something within +100 bucks, was available at THREE dealers in the midwest large city where I live. Probably more but I stopped calling around once I found a few to work with / against each other. I don't think there is some special dealer that is giving these prices, I think (as you can see from the post above from another buyer) that it is up to you to negotiate to GET these prices.

I am going to post "Hogan's Method" below - this is what I did for what its worth.
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
This is what I did to find some good pricing

    1) research invoice prices, etc (you have all done this)

    2) go to a dealer, not necessarily your favorite, and drive the cars to make sure you know EXACTLY what you want (ie EX, EXL, EXL-RES) plus color choice.

    3) now, get a list of all the dealers in your area, as far as you can stomach driving. In Chicago for example, there are LOTS of dealers within 75 miles. If you live in a large city, this process works better. However, I would think you could still call dealers if you're in a smaller city, and you might need to widen your net. You might not actually DRIVE 150 miles to another dealer, but the information you glean still will help you get a better read on the bottom-line price for your car, which should be similar for many dealers, hopefully including your hometown dealer.

    4) CALL as many as possible, asking if they have your model in stock (some wont have color but will offer to get one within a week thru dealer trade). Get a price quote from everyone regardless, and ask for their lowest price. Tell them you are buying within a week.

    5) some will tell you "just come in" - tell them you are busy professional and need to understand which dealer is the most competitive BEFORE you come in - you don't have time to drive all over creation to ask for a price that they can give you on the phone. If they still don't give a quote, cross them off the list.

    6) after awhile you should start to see some patterns forming. This is good, and should excite you as you'll see some OK prices. DONT STOP YET.

    7) in my case, I had a cluster of dealers quoting 30,800 to 31,100. I was excited. But then I got a guy who quoted 30,250. Now I am really excited.

    8) Figure out after round 1 what is your best price.

    9) Now, call back all the guys who were higher, no matter how much, and tell them "hey thanks for spending time with me - but just FYI I got a quote of [XYZ] so I think I'm gonna pursue it. Its [ABC] lower than what you gave me, which I know you said was your best price, and I realize you probably can't match it, but I just wanted to let you know as a courtesy since you were so nice in spending time on the phone with me a couple days ago."

9a) HOGAN'S KEY STRATEGY in #9 - STRETCH THEM.....let's say you had offers of 30,200 , 30,500, 30,750, 30,800 and 30,900. When calling back all the higher guys, tell them a LOWER price than your best, ie tell them you have been told a bid for 29,999 and while it seems perhaps too good to be true, you owe it to yourself to pursue it. Note you need to be credible here - if all your quotes are clustered around 30,500, you can't say "I have a quote for 25,000". Depending on how much variation you see in your original quotes, you might try 200 or so dollars below your best. When they come back with their new quote, some might not be able to beat it, but they'll lower their original quote, but some MIGHT beat what you thought was your best offer, and maybe even match or beat your stretch quote.

    10) depending on how 9a goes, you'll get a sense of whether you're close to "bottom" for these dealers. ie if you get a bunch of surprise quotes that beat even your STRETCH quote, then you arent yet at bottom. If everyone else is getting close but can't quite make it to your stretch quote, then you're probably pretty close.

    11) if you get a whole new round of quotes that beat even your stretch, then you need to repeat 9a again. Most likely you'll already be at bottom, so you can then refine by what is the closest dealer, or who seems the most reputable, and also which dealer actually HAS the car you want in stock. You can then take your best offer in to them and try to buy the car.

    12) the "magic" of the Hogan system is you have INFORMATION. You will have a list of hopefully 5+ dealers with real quotes. Some might be 100 or 200 higher than your best, BUT they're still real quotes, and this gives you the COHONES to be able to walk away from dealer #1 if anything gets goofy. So you try to buy the car at the best quote, but once you get in there he jerks you around in any way....say "thanks you've made my choice an easy one" and walk out, phone #2 dealer and start buying the car there (of course see if he'll match the lowest offer).

I did this process in the comfort of my home, in about 3 hours one afternoon sitting on my couch. Trust me, you WILL get a better price, faster, than if you become too involved early on with a one-to-one sales person at a single dealer.

The fact that several of you seemed surprised at my EXL-RES price is proof. Honestly I am pleasantly surprised myself, so thought I should share what I learned.

    Best of luck, all

I'm in Chicago area and looking for 2010 Honda Odyssey Ex-L w/RES.
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
Places I called were Countryside, Castle, Brilliance in Crystal Lake, Lisle, Rosen in Gurnee, O'Hare plus a few others that slip my mind right now. There are lots of others too. Only one that was a pain and didn't even quote price was Schaumburg Honda ("Bob Roarrrr-mann!") F-those guys anyway - I remember 15 years ago buying my first car and those jagoffs at Schaumburg Honda wouldn't even let me test drive a USED CIVIC for goodness sakes. Steer clear of them, but you will get some phone traction from the others, and there are more Chicago dealers than that.

Good luck - let me know how it goes. If you can't get something at 30,500 or better, I'd be very surprised.
