Did you get the breakdown and the OTD Price. Who is the dealer. I will be interested to go there.
Thanks
Thanks!
Thanks.
I went to Sloan and wasted a bunch of time too. I won't contact hem again either.
We may just wait for the rebates to kick in a couple of months (hopefully).
Thx
I got a base price of 3011. They waived the 700 freight fee. Added a pesky processing fee of 100 dollars. Total was then 30111.72
Taxes were 1217 (reduced by 600 dollars by my trade in of 10000)..so if you can't do that, the tax in md of 6% would have been 1800. Tags/title were 149 (reduced by transferring
OTD was then 31477.93. Not bad!!
They tried to sell me an aftermarket (wachovia) extended warranty for 2300 dollars!! They don't even offer hondacare. I bought the hondacare over the phone from saccucci (google it) 5yrs/100K miles for 750!!
I took the 2.9% financing....
475.30 / month
2048.61 to pay at pickup
and
466 / month
2094.12 to pay at pickup
Do these sound competitive? Some other dealers were way over these numbers.
The selection seems limited. Should we accept on one of these or keep pushing. I'd love to get lower or the same price with running boards and/or all weather mats.
Which do people find sharper looking -- white/ivory or polished metal/gray???
Thanks.
I'd negotiate to go a little lower and ask for BOTH running boards and weather mats---because then they'll come back and prob say either they'll give you both but not lower the price, or one or the other. I'd also go the last day of this month, they'll want to close the deal and be done w/it.
26898
710 Dest
249 Docs
7% tax
399 4 yr Registration
How'd I do
28953.29 (incl. dest)
2026.73 (7% tax)
190.25 (doc/title fee)
$31,170.27 OTD
Should I be able to do better than this? I'm not really feeling this dealer as they're giving me the "this price expires at 10AM tomorrow" line, which no one else is doing.
Alos, anyone know what the new incentives are going to be? Two dealers mentioned that Honda said they'd be changing for sure.
How did I do?
price, 31800 incl dest
doc 200
NJ tire tax 7.50
kept our old plates
give or take a little it was OTD 34500.00
they gave us a great deal on our trade---we had the Kelley BB printout w/us and they went way above in order to keep us from walking out.
Lots of typical car salesmen types, but whatever, price was most imp. I think we got a great deal. And 1.9% financing.
Should I just go for it or need to shop around some more. I want to buy a van but I can wait a month if need be!
Did Hamilton charge you anything for the transfer of old plates? Thank you!
I'm asking because I'm about to look at a cert. pre-owned '08 EX with 14,846, leather, alloy wheels, etc. They are asking $24K but I was going to offer $21K with the hope of paying around $22K ! Thanks for your input in advance !

I am looking for EX-L w/o NAV in NJ.
I am shopping around for a 2010 Odyssey. Could anyone tell me how much they paid for a 2010 Odyssey LX, EX or EX-L in DC area (VA, MD & DC)? Any dealer recommendations? I haven't decided the model yet. Thanks.
If you live in a metro area with many dealers, just call them......most will give you a quote and you'll soon get a sense of what is possible.....
Good luck all
I am going to post "Hogan's Method" below - this is what I did for what its worth.
1) research invoice prices, etc (you have all done this)
2) go to a dealer, not necessarily your favorite, and drive the cars to make sure you know EXACTLY what you want (ie EX, EXL, EXL-RES) plus color choice.
3) now, get a list of all the dealers in your area, as far as you can stomach driving. In Chicago for example, there are LOTS of dealers within 75 miles. If you live in a large city, this process works better. However, I would think you could still call dealers if you're in a smaller city, and you might need to widen your net. You might not actually DRIVE 150 miles to another dealer, but the information you glean still will help you get a better read on the bottom-line price for your car, which should be similar for many dealers, hopefully including your hometown dealer.
4) CALL as many as possible, asking if they have your model in stock (some wont have color but will offer to get one within a week thru dealer trade). Get a price quote from everyone regardless, and ask for their lowest price. Tell them you are buying within a week.
5) some will tell you "just come in" - tell them you are busy professional and need to understand which dealer is the most competitive BEFORE you come in - you don't have time to drive all over creation to ask for a price that they can give you on the phone. If they still don't give a quote, cross them off the list.
6) after awhile you should start to see some patterns forming. This is good, and should excite you as you'll see some OK prices. DONT STOP YET.
7) in my case, I had a cluster of dealers quoting 30,800 to 31,100. I was excited. But then I got a guy who quoted 30,250. Now I am really excited.
8) Figure out after round 1 what is your best price.
9) Now, call back all the guys who were higher, no matter how much, and tell them "hey thanks for spending time with me - but just FYI I got a quote of [XYZ] so I think I'm gonna pursue it. Its [ABC] lower than what you gave me, which I know you said was your best price, and I realize you probably can't match it, but I just wanted to let you know as a courtesy since you were so nice in spending time on the phone with me a couple days ago."
9a) HOGAN'S KEY STRATEGY in #9 - STRETCH THEM.....let's say you had offers of 30,200 , 30,500, 30,750, 30,800 and 30,900. When calling back all the higher guys, tell them a LOWER price than your best, ie tell them you have been told a bid for 29,999 and while it seems perhaps too good to be true, you owe it to yourself to pursue it. Note you need to be credible here - if all your quotes are clustered around 30,500, you can't say "I have a quote for 25,000". Depending on how much variation you see in your original quotes, you might try 200 or so dollars below your best. When they come back with their new quote, some might not be able to beat it, but they'll lower their original quote, but some MIGHT beat what you thought was your best offer, and maybe even match or beat your stretch quote.
10) depending on how 9a goes, you'll get a sense of whether you're close to "bottom" for these dealers. ie if you get a bunch of surprise quotes that beat even your STRETCH quote, then you arent yet at bottom. If everyone else is getting close but can't quite make it to your stretch quote, then you're probably pretty close.
11) if you get a whole new round of quotes that beat even your stretch, then you need to repeat 9a again. Most likely you'll already be at bottom, so you can then refine by what is the closest dealer, or who seems the most reputable, and also which dealer actually HAS the car you want in stock. You can then take your best offer in to them and try to buy the car.
12) the "magic" of the Hogan system is you have INFORMATION. You will have a list of hopefully 5+ dealers with real quotes. Some might be 100 or 200 higher than your best, BUT they're still real quotes, and this gives you the COHONES to be able to walk away from dealer #1 if anything gets goofy. So you try to buy the car at the best quote, but once you get in there he jerks you around in any way....say "thanks you've made my choice an easy one" and walk out, phone #2 dealer and start buying the car there (of course see if he'll match the lowest offer).
I did this process in the comfort of my home, in about 3 hours one afternoon sitting on my couch. Trust me, you WILL get a better price, faster, than if you become too involved early on with a one-to-one sales person at a single dealer.
The fact that several of you seemed surprised at my EXL-RES price is proof. Honestly I am pleasantly surprised myself, so thought I should share what I learned.
Best of luck, all
I'm in Chicago area and looking for 2010 Honda Odyssey Ex-L w/RES.
Good luck - let me know how it goes. If you can't get something at 30,500 or better, I'd be very surprised.
