I just bought EX-L with Nav in Atlanta. I got this quote from Hennessy Honda, but I bought the car from Honda carland Roswell, because they offered me 0% interest rate. The diff between 0.9 % to 0.0 % int rate is 875.00, but I paid only 500 extra to Honda Carland and I saved an additional 375. I tried to explain this simple math to Hennessy folks, but they don't seem to get it. See below.

$32,528.00 (includes destination)and (All Season Package) Trunk Tray, All Season Mats and Mud Guards
    207.00 Nitro/Prep Pkg
    489.00 Doc Fee
    2325.68 7% Sales Tax (Alpharetta)
    42.00 Tag and Title

$35,591.68 Out the Door quote from Hennessy Honda
    500.00 extra for 0.0% rate (diff between 0.9 % to 0.0 % int rate is 875.00)
36,091.68 Out of the Door with 0.00 interest rate from Honda Carland Roswell, GA

    + 1270.00 for 8 years/120000 miles with 0 deductible

The sale finished in 10 min at Honda Carland.

I have just started looking at the EX-L (without Nav or RES), and in the bay area from a couple of dealers have got a price quote of $31,000 (inlcudes destination) + tax and title. Any thoughts on this being good and any suggestions on shooting for a different (lower) number.

Just bought the 2012 Odyssey Touring Elite from Tracy Honda. Purchasing through their Internet department is so effortless. Just get the agreed price through email, go in to test drive and sign the paperwork.

31,00 OTD? I think that's pretty good. What dealership did you get that from? I'm looking for something similar and the lowest quote i got was 31,500 not including tax and title.

    Probably not,

February 2012 Motor Trend Long Test Article 2011 Odyssey Touring Elite, 6 months old, 14999 miles "...we'll have the technicians look at the transmission as well. Over time, shifting has become rough, and occasionally upon acceleration between first and second gears, the transmission seems to be shuddering."

$30715(Destination fee included) not including tax, title and doc fee.

It's not OTD, but the price includes destination charge ($830, if I recall). Tax and title fees would be additional.

I have 2010 Honda Odyssey. I rarely use this and very low mileage of 13500. I have no financial constraints to sell this immediately. Without using it much and the cost of mileage factors makes me to trade in this for a Honda Civic.

    I bought this for 29500+Destination+Tax - 33467.

A dealer has good deal if I trade in this car which he claims he will give 4000 dollars or 20% above KBB price. KBB for excellent condition of this car is $27000. How much can I ask for this car in return for Honda Civic 2012 LX. I don't really want to take a huge loss on selling the Odyssey. So want to make some good decision not like the decision to buy Odyssey. Please throw some light.

is that for a brand new exl...that is pretty good. What is the name of the dealership and a good number to get a hold of them. The best I got was 31900 include side molding plus tax and lincese...I was told by the dealer that they are only making a couple of hundrends on the deal..
  • dan60201dan60201 Member Posts: 6
Ordmas, could you share which dealership you got this deal? The best offer I got is ~ $31400 from Castle Honda about 1.5 months ago (include destination fees) + tax and other fees.

Just bought a 2012 Touring elite white pearl/trouffle with winter mats, splash guards, cargo liner for 40288 plus tax and title. It was a pre-may production unit when apparently the price went up 250 or so. Great deal overall as far as I am concerned.

Just bought Odyssey EXL + RES lately,
    the price is:
    sale price (including destination): 32500
    doc fee: 299
    ------------
    total 32799 before TTL

Dealer told me I could have a .9APR for 60months, but still waiting for the finance department's decision.

I have been waiting for their APR decision two days. Should I wait more time for that? Is it a trick here? In such a case, whether the car buying contract is still effective.

    Please share your experience.
    Thanks.

Hi all, in the market for the Odyssey LX and the lowest price I got so far is $25600 (not including taxes, registration and $200 doc fee). Is this okay?

Do you think I should wait till year end to get a better deal? Searching for past pricing, I see the 2008 LX model was selling for under $20k. A big price difference compared to the 2012 model. Thanks!

When I financed our new Civics in 2009 and 2010, the APR decision usually only took minutes. Everything is online now and still, I believe the finance manager can bypass any wait time if they know your credit score is good enough.

Hope its not the case but the last time the decision took a "few days", the applicant was rejected and offered a much higher rate.

Ordmas, thanks for the reply! Did you get that price from the internet department or just walk in and haggle with them? That price is already excellent, not to mention additional wheel lock and splash guard. I would have made my purchase if I can get such offer.

Though the 0.9 financing ended yesterday I figured I'd share some details with everyone.

First of all, I purchased the $35 package from fighting chance dot com. I'd highly recommend it. Some of the info is redundant and merely a collection of information already available on the internet. But it saves time for you as the "leg-work" is already done. My wife and I did a few test drives the week before we decided to buy to ensure it was what we wanted. On Thursday, July 5th I started the email attack. I contacted 13 dealers in the Metro Atlanta area. One I had to deal with by Fax. The deals varied significantly from just slightly under MSRP to about 2,000 below. After the first round, I contacted all parties to give them one chance to counter-offer. I ended up with three offers all $10 from each other out the door at $35000. I chose the one that was a little bit closer, had more fair contact and less "salesmanship" with and they threw in a cargo tray and a first-aid kit. Curry Honda.

    Here are the numbers:
    Final Car Price $32,310
Tax @ 7% along with tag, doc fees, etc brought the total to $35,044 out the door
    %0.9 financing

Obviously I can't know what kind of deal I may have gotten if I had waited until the end of the month (as the package strongly recommends) but the 0.9 was just too good to pass up. The next best rate we would have gotten was from our bank at 2.63. And I'm quite confident that we'll save more in low APR than we would have if I pushed the deal into late July.

I'd whole-heartedly recommend going with fighting chance dot com's system and follow it to a T.

Offer valid from 7/10/2012 through 9/4/2012
    0.9% APR for 24-60 months

Thanks. Do you know if there is still a $750 dealer incentive?
  • sfbayguysfbayguy Member Posts: 3
I bought my EX-L this weekend for $31,000 + tax/title/license (~$34K out the door) and got the 0.9% APR. Got the first two services thrown in as well as door and wheel edge guards in the price paid. Did all my negotiation via email. Thanks to all for sharing their information. Now onwards to a camping trip this weekend in the new minivan :-).

Finance guy tried to sell extended warranty (for about $2400) and when I told him about online quotes for a little more than half that, got told that you should buy from a CA dealership and not east coast. I told him it was Honda Care from a honda dealer, so had to be honored through out the country. I plan to get the 84 mo/ 120 K miles from one of the online dealers soon.

All the best to all who are looking. Love the way it looks and drives.

sfbayguy, which dealer did you use, if you don't mind saying? I'm in the 831 area code so not too far from you. Best deal I've seen so far is $31,822 for the EX-L. I'm really interested in the EX-L RES, though.

It looks like I can get close to my current price and get the entertainment system.

hope you enjoy your new car!
  • mgf5mgf5 Member Posts: 5
I am so glad I found this forum! I haven't made my purchase yet but am approved for the .9 financing.

I am interested in the EX-L with RES. I'm in Northern CA.

I have a current price of 31.882 (including destination, excluding taxes, licensing, etc.) for the EX-L without RES.

Looks like Spreen Honda in loma linda (which is a long drive!) had an amazing offer 31,099 for EXL w/RES.

I'm going to follow up tomorrow. I do have a trade in which I'm attempting to sell on Craigslist in order to avoid having that factor into the deal.

    Any thoughts? thanks!
  • mgf5mgf5 Member Posts: 5
got my internet quote from Spreen for $32,146. Not bad, but not the great deal they apparently had in May.
  • dan60201dan60201 Member Posts: 6
Based on the edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com/honda/odyssey/2012/car-incentives.html), the dealer incentive just increased to $1250 ($500 more). We should have better room for negotiation.
  • mgf5mgf5 Member Posts: 5
I have not yet signed the paperwork, but my new Odyssey was brought to my local dealer last night. In doing more research, I keep seeing things about bad transmissions. I'm only interested in the Odyssey, didn't like the Sienna. UGH! What to do, what to do?!
  • coupedncalcoupedncal Member Posts: 252
There are no reported problems with the transmission on the EX-L 5 speed. The last real widespread problems on an ody transmission were back in 2003-2005 models.
  • mgf5mgf5 Member Posts: 5
Thanks. I went ahead and did the deal and I'm loving the car so far. More "road feel" than I'm accustomed to coming from a Volvo SUV, but I like the way it drives.

I got freaked out that Consumer Reports rated the 2012 as, "predicted worse than average reliability."

Got a good warranty and am just going to enjoy the car.

I bought odyssey touring last week in southern California. No extra options, base price 37300 and OTD 41020. Let me know if it is a good deal. I can not thank this forum enough to provide all the valuable information for a first time car buyer like me.
I am also planning to take extended warranty, so wanted to get additional information about this. Obviously I got 3 years/36K warranty included in my purchase. I see on the forum people buying 8year/100K warranty from Hyannis Honda, does it mean total warranty will be 11years/136K after taking this extended warranty or does it mean I have to buy extra 5years/64K from Hyannis Honda. What should be the best price for this. Is it from Honda Care or some third party. Also how long I can wait t buy extended warranty, is it something I have to get within a month of buying car or any such time-line like that.
Also I want to know what additional options are good to have in the vehicle, for example after driving for one week and experiencing sudden rain in one day, I am thinking it is good idea to have all season floor mats. I know its a personal preference, but just wanted to check in the forum that what are the preferred options.

    Hello,
I've been reading the forum for several weeks now and I'm ready to buy a 2012 Odyssey EX-L. I'm trying to follow the donkeypunch method but there is no way to insert a comment while requesting a quote from the dealer using the Honda website. I've since tried to do this on a few other websites and still cannot find a way. Barring going to each dealer's website and digging around to find the internet fleet manager's email address is there an easy way to contact multiple managers quickly? I tried searching the forum for an answer but had no luck. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

last month, I purchased Celestial blue Odyssey Touring for $36950 (includes dest. + d/h+clear nose mask)+ tax.
    base MSRP: 41180
    destination : 810
    clear nose mask : 199
    dealer handling: $399

got 0.9% APR for 60 month.

Thanks to all of you to give me all required information prior to negotiate with dealers.

Nope, I got it through Curry Honda of Atlanta. Very straight forward, although I bought my Honda Odyssey Touring elite from Gwinnette Place Honda. So I shopped around for the warranty.

I think my deal is not the best there is out there, but it is decent I believe.

It seems high. It was last month, but I got an EX-L for 30,900 (car + dest).
It was an old invoice unit. Honda raised prices in mid April by abt 300.

Is that price with tax or not?
  • zoniczonic Member Posts: 9
Yes, they do chance invoice per season, prefer is the mid year reason try to reduce inventory before end of the year, tax purpose, they will try to sell limited number of car before receiving upcoming new models. So don't wait if you get good qoute better grad it before to late.

Pickup up a new Odyssey TE this weekend.

    Price broke down as follows:
    Base incl. delivery $38,450
    Dealer Fee $ 600
Title, tag, and processing $ 246
    Tax $ 2,352

    OTD $41,637
w/ mud guards, sunroof visor, door guards, cargo tray and tint (at no additional cost).

Financed most at .9% for 5 years.

Emailed ~15 dealers requesting quotes. Then followed up with one round of additional emails to the top 3. Closed the deal via email and went in next day to pick up the car. No surprises. In and out of the dealer in just over 2 hours. Very happy with deal and vehicle.
