    Hello -
I am looking to buy a 2012 Odyssey EX-L. I’ve been offered a price of $32244 ( base + destination fee) which translates to an OTD price of $ 35,118 ( Sales Tax -- $2,503.17 …. License (DMV) --$ 308.00 and Fees --$63.75). I plan to decline any extended warranty offers at this time. Also I’m being offered a 2 years/24,000 miles of factory scheduled maintenance.
Is this a reasonable offer ( I live in the San Diego area) to go ahead with ?
    Appreciate your expert opinion.

I know ohio is a long distance from California, but I leased a 2012 exl a couple of weeks back with a selling price of 30500, including destination. Hopefully you can find a close price!

Did you purchase the EX from them? Which MA dealership? It sounds like a good price based on what I'm seeing in MA.
  • sfodysseysfodyssey Member Posts: 3
I've been offered a similar price, but can you tell me is this the EXL model or EXL+NAV or EXL+RES?
  • bmwleaserbmwleaser Member Posts: 17
just the basic EX-L ( no Nav or Res)

The best quote I received for an Elite is $41,236 OTD in the Northern VA area.Do you experts think that's a good price?I am looking to purchase one in this month. Can anyone advice on getting better pricing at the end of this month (which will be the end of the quarter also)?TIA.

I used this forum for a lot of information in my buying experience. So here is mine for someone else to use.

    1. I did a lot of searching on this forum to see what prices other people were getting.

    2. I used two local dealerships (with in 30 miles) to bid against each other for my purchase.

    3. I bought at the the end of the month in May.

Final price was $39,000 out the door. This included: van, tax, title, destination fee, dealer fees, floor mats, tent, and mud flaps.

Some of the fees to give a better idea on the actual van price:
    Tax: $2160
    Dealer fees: $445
    Destination: $810

That night I was offered the Extended Warranty for $2100 and passed on it. However to next day I called back and bartered it down to $1465 and bought it.

    I hope this helps someone.

And don't be afraid to walk, or to ask a dealer to beat a competitors price.

That's really an amazing deal. I would say it's one of the best deal on Touring Elite I have ever seen on this forum. Congratulations. Which dealer did you buy from?

Nice!!!! Looks like you really did your homework before walking through the door...

I do not usually comment but I had to post the following:

A gentleman referred to me from a previous customer drove all the way from Indiana and purchased an Odyssey Touring Elite for 45000 drive out; that price included us shipping the vehicle to his house!!! (Indiana) He was very happy!!! I know you are a member of this forum so I want to thank-you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you with your purchase, it was a pleasure.

If it's just the basic exl, then no it is not worth it. I was quoted a price for the exl RES for 32,500.
  • delajuandelajuan Member Posts: 5
Is 32500 a good price then for the exl RES?
  • lendllendl Member Posts: 1
What state are you located in and who was the dealership you negotiate with for this deal?

I think the $32,500 price was good for me. I did not have the time to go back and forth between dealers. I mainly did everything via phone, email, and internet and chose the lowest price offered to me. I saw some earlier posts where people were able to get the EXL RES below $32K.
  • odyforfiveodyforfive Member Posts: 8
Could you please tell me what dealership in MD gave you that price. My best price locally has been $31,393 (base + destination).
  • odyforfiveodyforfive Member Posts: 8
Hi. I've been following this thread since late May and it's been a great help. I'm hoping to buy the van this week.

My best price in NJ so far is $31,393 (base+destination) however I do have a quote from an OH dealership for $31,000. That dealership said to add $1500 for RES.

Do you think I will be able to negotiate down the price for RES so that i am paying less than $32,000? Any tips? I guess my question is do I stand a chance of getting the RES for any less than the $1500.

    Thanks.

I don't know if you are still visiting the forum, but could you let me know what dealership in NJ you bought your EX from?

If you are searching OH dealers, give White Allen in the Dayton area a shot. they sent me an internet quote mid-may for 30,500 for EX-L. That was the lowest of about 10 dealers I tried. I didnt ask for a EX-L Res though so not sure on their pricing for that one.
  • odyforfiveodyforfive Member Posts: 8
Thanks for the reply. Actually my quote from OH is from White-Allen. I would like something closer to NJ though. Most dealers are adding anywhere from $1460-1600 for RES. However, I've combed through this forum and another, and apparently getting the EX-L with RES under $32,000 is possible (I've read as low as $31,099 and more likely $31,500, $31,700) that's base + destination.

My husband and I keep going back and forth on whether to get the RES, or not. We've got kids and do road trips, so it will come in handy, but we are trying to figure out whether it is worth the $1500 price tag, or whether we stick with out dual monitor portable DVD player.

Any opinions on value of RES for a family with young kids?

Hi all, I have a quote for $30k including destination and dealer added options (mud guard, pin stripes, wheel locks) out in Fredericksburg, VA. What do you all think of this?
  • stanleychs1437stanleychs1437 Member Posts: 3
That's the EX-L base for $30k including destination and dealer added options.
  • zoniczonic Member Posts: 9
Nice, work which dealer did you go or your location , thank for info.
  • zoniczonic Member Posts: 9
Hi, question did you get good service with simon.. So the price he quote you is real.. Wondering how much tax, licensing, dealer fee did you pay or total cost you paid/refinace if you don't mind. Have appoitment to him this weekday (weds). Thanks
  • dodgehappydodgehappy Member Posts: 118
I would say $30K for EXL with a few installed options is a sweet deal! We got ours for 30,500 with mud guards installed and that is one of the lowest prices I have seen recently- and only 2 out of about 10 dealers I talked to were willing to be that low plus it was around Memorial day. $30K flat sounds worth jumping on for sure!
  • dodgehappydodgehappy Member Posts: 118
I would check in with the dealer stanleychs1437 received the 30K EXL quote from to see what they can do for the EXL Res. 30K for a base EXL with a couple of options is great- hopefully they can work magic on one with RES too for you. You may just find yourself on a road trip to VA.

As for the screen and kids, we stick to the dual monitors on the back of the front seats for our three kids and it seems to do the job. No, its not as fancy as RES unit but $100 or so vs over a grand made our decision easy. I guess its really up to personal preference and what you are willing to spend. If you do opt for the RES make sure you get enough headphones for everyone :)

Bought yesterday for $30,900 (van price - does not include tax/doc/license)
It was an old invoice unit. Honda did raise prices in mid April.

Thanks to all who posted their prices here. It really helped while shopping.

I found a few really good prices and I ended up putting a deposit to hold a specific color. Well since then I have gotten 2 quotes cheaper. I did the deposit over the phone so I have no receipt. Am I stuck with the current car?

I got messed up because some of the quotes included destination and some didn't. The person told me the destination wasn't included but when I checked against the other quotes I had one was around the same if you took into account it had destination. The other quote was for NAVI when we didn't want NAVI. I didn't realize it and they called back today and quoted me without navi for around $500 less which is what I deposited so I guess at this point I have to stick

My quotes were for EX-L (no Navi or RES) and they came in at 30795, 30953, and the one I ended up with was 31276 (they quoted 30446 before destination). not a huge deal I guess but I was a little ticked I screwed up. I should have taking one more day to go over it all. The 30953 one was closer to my house and they would have thrown in a few oil changes from what it looks like. I was a bit blinded by prices I got since they were so low. All of these are under the listed dealer cost I found online.

This is the Chicago Area and I was looking at cars delivered before April 3 which is a limited supply at every dealer which is why they didnt' all have the color we wanted. They have so many on the lot though that I have to believe these good deals will be around until the 2012s are gone.

Yes ,I am still visiting the forum,I bought our 2012 Odyssey Ex from Paul miller Honda, westcaldwell,NJ,they are the best dealing dealer I met. I bought my van within 1 hour(Paul miller won't give you an online pricing Quote). It is good to get the online on the Road price from dealers and print the lowest and go to them they will beat the price.(Now the price for odysssey is getting much lower thanApril,Co's 2013 model about to start so,you can get an EXL model within 31,000/- on the road).

Hey everyone. Just reporting back, we finally purchased the EX-L base for around $29,900 including destination and splash guard. This is lower than the price I mentioned before of $30k including destination and splash guard, wheel locks, and pin stripes.

I wanted to let everyone know that, when price matching quotes between dealerships, be sure to note which ones include mandatory options and which ones don't. In this case I got this $30k quote including these options only because I emailed them my previous best offer including these dealer-added options. When I went to pick up the car it turns out that this dealership did not put these options on yet, so I was able to decline on the options and save a little bit more. In short, some dealerships put on options on all vehicles, some don't, if they don't, and your price match quote includes the options, just say you don't want them and save more money!

Overall I had a good purchase experience at Pohanka Honda in Fredericksburg, VA. At first I was worried that I would not get the price as promised, but when I got there the manager agreed that the price is as discussed, had the color I wanted waiting for me so we just went straight to the paperwork!

I did however purchase a third party extended warranty for 8years/100k miles for $1164. I found out later that this is through a company called Automotive Warranty Services (based in Chicago) and NOT HondaCare. I will be cancelling and getting a refund for this.

I also purchased GAP since I can supposedly get the money back when my loan becomes right-side up (as opposed to upside down when I drive the car off the lot and it loses value immediately when I still owe the full price for the vehicle on the loan). What do you all think of GAP?

This is nice info but what would really be helpful is this. I bought the Honda Odessey for 30,500 no taxes included the sticker stated $37225. Sticker price info is very important since they vary from 28,000 to 45,000. Thanks in advance!

I am looking to buy a 2012 Odyssey EX (pretty much base) in Rochester, NY. Any input on what a fair purchase price is? MSRP's are in the $32-$33k range. Also, does anyone know when the prices drop due to 2013's coming out? Should I wait until they are released to buy to increase my leverage??

    Hi,

Any inputs on fair price for base EXL in SF bay area? I got quote of $31700 (includes destination) so far. Thanks for any inputs.
  • bigtxbigtx Member Posts: 16
Looking at one of these to buy in the next few days and it appears on here that 32,500 should be a reasonable place to be, I subscribed to Consumer Reports pricing service that shows the incentives/holdbacks and it seems to suggest actual dealer cost in iowa is 33,194 (partially due to a regional advertising expense of 366) but accounting for both incentives and holdbacks and INCLUDING destination fee. Given the broad appearance that 32500 is a fair place to be on this car do you think CR's data is wrong? are these posters in the 32500 neighborhood not including desination? If that were the case there is the answer. I hate to be unreasonable with dealers in terms of starting point but I also do not want to leave money on the table by starting with CR's apparent actual dealer cost if it is wrong. Thoughts? Dealer has at least 2 or 3 of the one I want on hand and 25 or so odysseys total if that matters.
