I think that you have to see what each model adds to the options. If getting 28 mpg is important, or having the blind spot indicator, etc. I personally would choose the Touring Elite. Wife bought it and it is absolutely fully fully loaded and a dream to drive and spend time in.
  • philly37philly37 Member Posts: 4
That a better price than I just paid. EX-L base price $29,950 + 667 (roof rack and wheel locks) + $185 (fees) = $30,802 OTD, excluding sales tax.

I think that is a great price. I purchased a Touring Elite on April 29th and worked very hard on my deal with numerous dealers in Ohio and Kentucky. I paid $37,910 plus tax and the title/registration fees. Only one other dealer was willing to match that price. Accessories were additional and all rebates/promotion money went to the dealer. The only additional item I received was an Apple I Pad mini which was a nice surprise that the dealer was offering at the time I picked up the van (a promotion after I gave my order but going on when I picked it up). A great dealership. Most important, we love the vehicle. Our first van and we could not be happier.

    Hi all
Purchased an EX-L from Princeton Honda today. It was sold at $29,583 including destination. Also got $750 discount on financing from honda. Finally OTD price was $31,275 excluding $400 for title and registration charge.

Please comment on how I did?
  • philly37philly37 Member Posts: 4
I've been shopping around as well and just bought at $29,905. I found high $29k is the best available, sounds like you got a good deal at $29.6k. Is your $29.6k sale price already net of the $750 discount? If not, then I think you got a steal if you got in below $29k. I posted my deal earlier, but I'll repost here for your reference...
    EX-L base price $29,950 + 667 (roof rack/cross bars and wheel locks) + $185 (fees) = $30,802 OTD, excluding sales tax.

I just bought the 2013 Odyssey EX-L RES here in Southern CA. Paid $32,750 - $750 Honda cash. So I paid $32,000 and they threw in 2 yrs. of free maintenance. The dealer was also very aggressive with their trade offer for a 2011 BMW X3 that we were upside down in. After rolling the negative equity in we ended up financing the MSRP price. Had to get a larger car for the growing family. Our payments will be a little less than the BMW, and with the maintenance for 2 years (about what we had left on the BMW) it works out to be about the same as what we were looking at paying off the BMW.

I closed on a Odyssey EX 1st week in May 2013 at Mohawk Honda (Glenville NY, Albany area) as follows:

    Base: 28934
    Tow Package: 1230
    Dealer 'concession': -750
    Car Price: 29414

    NY Sales/Insp/Tire Tax: 2546
    Doc fee: 171
    Other fee: 75
    Out The Door: 32206

    8 yr/120k $0 ded Hondacare (service contract): 1380

This was all financed by Honda Financial Services at 0.9% APR. We put 500 down. 564 per month. We had a competing bank offer at 2% going into the negotiation.

The car was not on their lot in the color we wanted so we needed a transfer; we likely could have gotten a little better if it was. The deal we made was somewhat convoluted with the tow package as this has markup in it (in my opinion). We only went to this dealer; based on these forumns, I thought we were in the ballpark on price. The goal was out-the-door price; I did not even know what the 'made up fees' were before closing.

Our sales guy was personable and professional. We went on a Saturday morning, so it was a little busy and slow to get info. In negotiating price, the back-and-forth with the 'manager in the backroom' was nonsense in my opinion.

Just bought an Odyssey EXL from Honda of Oakland. Cash price $29491 including destination, wheel locks, door edge and fender moldings. OTD $32720 since tax rate is a whooping 9.5%. We financed to get an additional $750 rebate from Honda, so price with finance is $28749 before TTL. the only thing I did not like was the minivan had 27 miles on it when we bought it. sales contact is Daniel, a very nice person to work with.

we also bought extended warranty from dealer, 7yr/80k for $1398. I am going to cancel the EW and buy from online instead.

How much did you pay out the door?
  • pop3y3pop3y3 Member Posts: 4
Is the $37880 out the door price? I am currently asking for quotes for touring elite and don't know if im getting a good deal as well
  • hollydoghollydog Member Posts: 17
The price for the vehicle was $37,910 plus fees (title and tag) of $283 plus sales tax (in my county that is 6.75%). Accessories were additional (all season package, roof rails, door edge guards and body side molding) at a cost of $969. Hope this information helps. This is our first van and we are loving it.

    vijay_chat,

I've got an offer for lease 2013 Odyssey EX-L
    sales price $30,534
minus $750 cash incentive covering the upfront fee, 1st payment and $139 toward cap cost reduction.
the residual is $19,056.15, fees total $210.00 and the excess mileage charge is .20.

0$ out of pocket, 35 payments
Payment before tax $355.49 after tax $387.48
Is this good? How do I get them to lower the sales price? They say this is with the $2500 incentive included. I have been doing all research by email. Do I just offer a lower price? How low is reasonable? Could I ask them to throw on roof rack? I forgot to get one in the quote. They say they have 3 of the color i want in stock as well (black). Thanks for any advice!!!
  • cromwellsquarecromwellsquare Member Posts: 7
No that is the price with destination. All other fees and taxes are on top of that. I just emailed him for an out the door price. Ill post when I get it. Let me know how you do as we'll. thanks.

Hi, I am planning on buying a 2013 Honda Odyssey EX-L with RES in Maryland. What will be the best deal? and what features should I ask for?

Is buying extended warranty a good idea?

    Thanks.
  • siddhsiddh Member Posts: 2
I am also looking for EXL with RES in baltimore county.
I received one quote for EXL only for around 33,000 (on-road, only with finance).
Today i got a quote from another dealer for EXL with RES for around 33,000 on-road.
I am planning to meet the dealer tomorrow. Let me know your progress.

  • spanchspanch Member Posts: 1
I'm also lookin for EXL with or without RES depending on the quote I can get in Montgomery county, Maryland. Without RES the quote was 31400 on road from one dealer, and with RES it's 34,400 from a different dealer. I guess we can get a way better deal if we all can negotiate the price with one dealer. Let me know if you are interested.

I am sorry to read your message late.
I booked the car today with Anderson Honda, Cockeysville. In all i paid around $33,000 on-road including taxes, etc for EXL with RES including basic accessories like WHEEL LOCKS , DOOR EDGE GUARDS, SPLASH GUARD SET . He didn't negotiate and gave me one price from start, in the end he was able to waive $196 dealer fee.
This price is for cash and he said he doesn't have anything like Honda Flex Cash ($750) even if i go for financing through them.
Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks to everyone who posted on this forum. I was able to use this information to negotiate what I thought was a good deal in Atlanta. Here is what I negotiated in hopes that it might help someone else...

I emailed nearly 10 metro dealers and after a lot of time and responses it was clear only 2 dealers were serious about making a deal. Most dealers said I was crazy to ask for what I was asking but I knew folks on here were getting similar deals so I knew it was possible. In the end I settled on one dealer and they were great to work with.

Today I took delivery of a 2013 touring model white diamond pearl exterior with truffle interior.

MSRP was $42,425 and included wheel locks, mudguards and a cargo tray

Sales price: $34,302 (this included -$750 for financing with honda)

    Dealer Doc Fee: $549

    Lemon Law: $80

    Tax: 6.5%
  • tallyesqtallyesq Member Posts: 1
Got it for $32,200.00 plus TT and $299 dealer fee. Pretty happy, except that the RES does not work well. Cannot hear DVD in 3rd row at highway speeds. The dealer and Honda told me to have passengers put on earphones to hear! The RES does NOT deliver what it promises.

Like the 0.9% for 60 months.

Can you tell the dealer's name? What city? Thanks.

  • vijay_chatvijay_chat Member Posts: 3
I got 29,583 - $750 = $28,833 as the amount. The dealer also threw in life time oil changes and carwash.

I've been to a few dealerships here in Atlanta and not having much success. Can you provide the name of the car dealerships you would recommend dealing with?

    Thank you
  • scobo1scobo1 Member Posts: 2
The ones I had success with in Atlanta were Gwinnet Place Honda and Willett Honda. Both were aggressive in pricing. Both were great to work with. I ended up going with the one closer to where I live for convienece.

I'm in the Atlanta Metro area too. Can you tell me which 2 dealers you were working with and from which you one ultimately bought the Touring? Thanks.

We are looking for an exl no nav or res. Has anyone got good quotes for the memorial day weekend? Sport Honda quoted 27995+830+title+tag+tax+189proc.

Pohanka honda at capitol heights quoted the following
    Sale Price- $25559
    Destination- $830
    Appearance Package - $895
    Flex Cash Incentive-$750
    Subtotal- $28034
    Taxes- $841.02
    Tags- $102
    Total- $28977.02
    Less Flex Cash- $750
    Final Price- $28227.02

Pohanka seems to be much lower than most. Is this too good to be true? I am 3hrs away , so dont want any surprises. Has any one dealt with them before?

    thanks

I have not worked with them, so I may be talking out of my butt here, but I'd be a little suspicious. They're willing to drop $10 k off of the MSRP? Unless they're going under, or they just really haven't met their monthly quota, I would make sure I fully understand everything they're saying before I make a 3 hour drive.

This is too good to be true. Please make sure it is EX-L and not EX before you go there only to be surprised. I had similar experience here in NJ and it was on third follow up to confirm the trim that the representative apologized to confirm the price was for LX.

The forum immensely helped me getting the deal closer to what I wanted. I'm posting a little bit late here but hey better late than never.

I bought my EX-L (no Nav/no RES) on 5/11 from Route 22 Honda in NJ. The sales manager had honest discussion and agreed they have hold back and FlexCash. My negotiation once we agreed on the vehicle price was on OTD price to have them reduce on their $400 doc fee.

Sale price incl dest and wheel locks: $29000
(includes manufacturer rebate of $2500, dealer hold back $1000 and Flex Cash $750)
    Tax: $2030 (7%)
    TTL: $400
    Doc Fee: $320
    OTD: $31750

The dealer threw in free oil changes for 2 year / 24k miles.

One mistake I did though was I had second thoughts after we agreed on the purchase to have body side moldings, edge gaurds and all weather mats so didn't have much leverage there and I'm sure if I had included them in my initial negotiation I would have saved at least $100 from $561.75 I paid for these three on top of my OTD price.

Any comments on my purchase? Good? More room? About right? :)

Here in SE Michigan seems as if prices are nowhere near what I am seeing on this forum is pretty much the rest of the US. I don't get it. Following everything to the Tee. Still trying to weed out the real offers, but most of them are exactly alike almost to the dollar. Seems like some collusion going on if I didn't know better.

I even had 3 dealers who I got Trucar pricing from give me quotes above their Trucar price I have certificates for. I also checked the inventory levels and these guys have lots of Vehicles sitting. I think I am going to focus on Northern Ohio to check pricing.

Just curious did everyone's pricing get better after they starting engaging individual dealerships or did it start out close to what you ended up paying?
  • philly37philly37 Member Posts: 4
I shopped around Philly and Delaware, all dealers were very similar on price - around $30,000 for EX-L. Negotiations were limited, only a few hundred dollars off initial quotes. I bought at $29,900 + tax/title.
  • reddytobuyreddytobuy Member Posts: 2
Thank you, I'll give them a try.
  • bigroc34bigroc34 Member Posts: 7
Thanks for the info. Well today I started to get some much different pricing. In fact almost $3K below what I had seen prior. At first all except 1 quote was over
$34K for EXL and over $33K for EX Models.

Guess I just needed to be a bit patient. I don't need to rush this anyway I can actually wait until End of June to pull the trigger if need be.

Still waiting for 3 dealers to respond. I have a good list of 3 I could deal with today if I wanted to move forward ASAP.

This is the best quote received for a 2013 EXL.

    2013 Honda Odyssey EX-L
    Honda MSRP: $36,055
    Your Price: $28,934
    Taxes and Fees: $1,635
    Total: $30,569 Out the Door

Any comments on this? Price also includes oil changes.Good deal? Is there room to go any lower?
  • king981king981 Member Posts: 2
fatygi, please share the name of the dealership you got this price quote from. I received quotes about a month ago and your numbers look much better than what was receiving.
  • pop3y3pop3y3 Member Posts: 4
Did you try getting a quote from Anderson Honda? We bought ours from them. Ourisman in Laurel,MD have a promo also that you'll get a garmin nuvi if you buy from them
  • bigroc34bigroc34 Member Posts: 7
    Fatygi,

That looks good to me..better than the best I got so far. Does your price include $830 destination fee? If so that beats mine by about $600. It looks like some of the best I have seen posted here and the added oil changes are nice as well.

Just curious did your pricing get better when you went into the dealership?

We just purchased an EX-L at Sport Honda for 27798 + dest + TTL for 29704 OTD as a VA resident (3% tax rate). We are happy with the purchase - the email back-and-forth and the time in the dealership were very uneventful.

I called Pohanka who gave me the SUPER low price, and they did not have the color (polished medal) we wanted, so we did not go there.

Thanks for everyone who posted their quotes and deals.
