Hey man I just had to say that I LOVE MY CLOCK FACE !!! You sent it to me several weeks ago, but I just got my car back yesterday and it was the first chance I've had to put it in. Here is a pic of what it looks like ...
Hi 300Mer's I have a April 2000 300M and until now had no problems, about a month ago got some bad gas and the car stalled on me and after that the pick up became sluggish and also it started shaking when you either stop on traffic light or put it in park, took it in 5* they kept the car for 3 days and returned it back saying that I no problem and I got bad gas so they have put injector cleaner, well the pick up is back to normal but the shaking hasn't stopped and also now if you brake to a halt and your car is still in drive the RPM will fall down to 500 but if you put the car in neutral RPM goes back to normal and stays that way even after going back to drive till you brake again, is anyone else having this problem
Hey guys, go checkout http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/chrysler300mownersassocation if you're into imports or if you love to make fun of them (like me) and look at my 4 most recent posts ... you'll get a kick out of them and since they didn't really pertain to the "300M", I didn't want to post them on here in case PAT didn't approve ... Have fun.
this is a common complaint among M owners---mine also idle a little rough at times when idling in drive after coming to a stop---but you can get the revs back up where they belong very easily by applying the brake with your left foot and slightly rev the accelerator with right foot. when you release your right foot you will notice revs are in the proper 700rpm range---
I dont think there is any real fix to this idling problem but its not really that big a problem.
it has some styling and size similarities to the M and at a price of about 34K it could be a serious challenger. Rumors have it pegged at below 7 sec 0-60mph times.
I just walked to the kitchen and noticed my 2001 300M sitting in my driveway was intermittently blinking the head and taillights! The security system was not on. The horn was not honking. I switched the headlight switch to "Off" from "Automatic" to get it to stop.
Anyone heard of this problem? It'll go to the 5-star on Monday.
Those charts are even hand drawn. I sent an Email to them asking for more info ....nothing back yet. Someone had posted that website on the Intrepid R/T forum the other day. They claim to be the best but I've never heard of them. Also did you notice in the FAQ's that they say you must use prem gas .. that's OK but they specifically mention "knock", do they disable the knock sensor? I've asked them but I think they will ignore my questions.
Yeah, man. Those windows are kinda pricey. Mine rolls down fine. It rolls up "ok", except right at the end, then it jumps.
On a side note...the Dream Cruise itself was nice. The bad thing is..I was called into work on Friday and missed hanging with the guys...hooked with them for awhile at the Cruise (Sat)and then got called in again that evening and missed dinner. I am at work now (Sun), until 8 a.m. I surely hope that I can hook up with them before they leave. =(
I have been off the air since the 13th of Aug. when I found that my Norton Anti-virus was not working and a slight virus hit me. My computer expert fixed me up and installed a new anti-virus for a very reasonable fee (FREE) and I am back on line. I have only been on the web for three years and did not realize that I would be prone to withdrawal pain. I had to wade through 186 messages that you folks sent. Do me a favour and lighten up EH!!!!!! LOL.
I recommend Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's. In the stock size. They are great tires, & out perform those nasty goodyears in every area. I have a set, & so do many 300M owners. Other have had goos experiences with ohter brands too. Just Stay away from goodyears!
Congrats on getting the new wheel. I tried & it didn't work out. Now I'm out. Question, are they going to keep the old wheel? See if you can keep it, I'll buy it from you. I need a extra wheel for a "project" I'm think of.
I ordered a Michelin XGT V4 for my spare last week and had it sent to one of their reccomended installers. When it arrived this past Friday, I dropped off the flat spare and returned in an hour. Much to my surpeise, the mechanic tells me, "I've got bad news, the tire is no good!" Apparently, underneath where they tape the packing slip to the tire, was a huge gouge. I called the Tire Rack and told them about it. They seemed shocked at first, but then told me they would send out another tire on Monday. It made me a little scared in that what would've happened if that tire was sent to my house instead of one of their installers? Would they have been so accomodating?
depends whether you want high permformance or just a decent reasonably priced all weather tire---if you dont need high performance but still want a decent performance all season tire, I highly recommend the Yokohama Avid---it is just T rated which is good up to 118 mph--but it has a long life tread (60k), good traction and handling, and is great in wet weather and adequate in snow. I had a set of V rated Yokos on my Mark VIII and they were great. Read the reviews at tirerack.com . And the best part is that they sell for only $88 and come in the origanal size of the M tires.
Spent 5 hours today mindlessly detailing the Silver Bullet. Wash, coat of Z2 (sdmike2-that's the 6th coat I think), Zaino Tire Gloss on the tires, cowling, mirrors, and for the first time on the door pillars and black trim on the back side of the rear doors. It looked bad till I buffed it and then it looked satin gloss and thats better than the water streaked oily rainbow effect I ususally get. Then I did the Zaino leather cleaner and preservative on the dash, seats and the vinyl trim on the front doors. At this point my wife was getting exasperated, so I called it quits for now. Very therapeutic. My boss is coming to town tomorrow and my ride will be looking good! Gotta go now and look at the Monterrey pics on the club site.
Phases-Went to the neighborhood shopping center and saw a black '01 with chrome wheels. WOW! I don't want a black car in this heat, but that was sweet!
Where are the pics guys ? Ive seen the Monterey pics, but no Deroit pics... I wish I could have gone ! I was actually in Detroit yesterday, but just waiting a couple of hours for my next flight Oh well, at least I'll make the Wall Event
You know I remember along time ago when a little girl threw a rock and broke my window, the whole thing was covered by insurance... Might have to go park near her house and hope for a repeat lol
Im not sure if there performance numbers are real or not, but the one thing I care about (the speed limiter) I can easily verify Dont like the idea of sending away my ECU though If anyone tries it, let me know how it goes ...
I sent them an e-mail letting them know they better come up with some legitimate test numbers before I would be interested in purchasing. I mentioned that someone on our board had tried a competitive product and it didn't work.
Had a blast!!!! I bet no one will ever guess who russklass and I met.
Any guesses? I mean besides otto and his group of great co-workers and friends!
Friday evening after the Chrysler museum, russ and I were just in time to see a parade of a hundred Prowlers lead about five hundred PT Cruisers out of a parking lot on the grounds and on some sort of route around the city
And on Saturday, the Dream Cruise was just that -- a dream... for any car buff, at least. Estimates were thirty-five thousand cars and over 1.75 million visitors and $55 million into the local economy. I would suggest it to anyone, even if you have to fly in for it!
The website sucks, the pics of their lab that they have on the site looks like there are a bunch of hacks working out of someones house and just bought a chip programmer... Im more than a little nervous about sending them my ECU... Anyone know how much a new ECU would go for ? I might experiment that way if the price isnt too bad... I just wanna get rid of that darn limiter ... Actually if I just buy a PHP ECU I should be just fine...
If you scan/read back thru about the last 2-300 posts their has been a lot of discussion about tires. I also got Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 tires just last week, stock size 225/55-17 on the stock Chrome Razorstar rims. I love em. but they're an expensive tire. my set of 4 to replace my Goodyears cost me $825 (out the door price). I'm very bullish on Michelins but there are lots of good options. FYI, since mid 2000 Chrysler has been putting 225/55-17 Michelins on all 300M's . The touring package (non PHP/PHG <118mph) tire is the Michelin PilotEnergy HX MXV4 Plus. On the the PHP/PHG models (PHP/PHG >118mph) they're using the Michelin Pilot MXM4 V Rated tires. Yokohoma, Bridgestone, BF Goodrich, others all make very good tires in this stock size and many who post here regulary have given their opinions of their purchases. The one thing that most here agree on is that the Goodyear Eagle LS tires are awful on this car. They're performance, wear, vibration, and noise characteristics are easily bettered. Do yourself a favor go to your favorite Chrysler 5* dealer and test drive the 01-02 models with the Michelin treads. Do yourself a Big favor and find one with Performance Handling Group on the sticker and take it for a spirited spin! :-) SHOP AROUND for the best price. Check the net and your local dealers. the differece in the prices I got across the counter and on the phone between the local dealers was sometimes $30/tire for the same make/model/size. After finding the right deal, the difference between the Pilot MXM4 and the Pilot XGT Z4 was only $5 a tire for me so I went for the upgrade because I was looking for at least the 300M PHP/PHG level of performance. Check out the manufacturers web sites for excellent info on tire specs, sizing, application, etc... Also tirerack.com, discounttires.com, many, many others. hope this helps.
BTW, www.300mclub.org is the 300M Enthusiast Club website. Please drop by, excellent info on this excellent automobile.
here is a link to tireracks site for the Yokohama tires---read the opinions of owners of the tire and look at the ratings by the owners--ratings are by owners who have driven a combined 2million plus miles--notice the handling ratings and road noise ratings--very high---not bad for an $88 tire
I just got home from vacation tonight. Looks like it's going to take me a few days to catch up. I'm sorry I missed the Monterey club event, but this is what I was doing instead. Yes, that is me in the picture, and no, I'm not nuts.
After a year of driving the 2001and covering about 10,000 miles, I have two problems. First, the radio on AM is subject to every electric control on the car. Raising and lowering any window will produce a shreik from the speakers, providing you are off station and down in the 500 to 600 kilohertz part of the radio spectrum. Any switch such as turn indicators or turning on the headlights produces a bad noise in th radio. FM works fine.
The second problem is the automatic dimmer for the rear vision mirror seems to have lost sensitivity. I can get it to work by shining a flash light in the sensor at the bottom of the mirror, but cars behind me don't seem to actuate the dimming. I did have my windows lightly tinted and this may have affected the system, but the dimming did seem to work right after I had the job done.Has anyone else experienced these problems?
Do you have a spolier? Some have reported a simliar problem due to how the mirror is positioned compared to where the spolier is mounted. Although I have a spolier, & the mirror works fine. I also have some dark tint, & it also works through that. If non of this applies to you, then the mirror might be bad. Time for a service visit.
tnsc- good guess, but alas, you don't win the prize. Leno or Allen are great guesses, and I would have liked to meet them, that's for sure.
I'll say this... if anyone wants the 300Hemi built, you can't talk to anyone higher than who we met! We put in our concerns for it being built... we'll see.
It is my opinion that you purchase an engine controler from SuperChip if you really want this performance. In all reality that might be what that ASE place does. You send in a comp for them to work on and they charge you $400. Then they send your comp to SuperChip for $250 and send it back to you. Boom $150 profit and no worries.
The performance that they state on their site is possible. Especially if you tune your car to run on premium gas and move or remove the rev-limiter. The reason why JetChip doesn't work is because it just adjust the fuel/air mixture and timing. It does nothing to actually change the way the engine operates.
Of course you could always but the Optimizer II from KenneBell Superchargers for $350!
Too bad superchip doesn't do that. I called them friday, & they have no plans for anything on the 300M. So I dought they will reprogram the 300M's computer. Besides, I thought the 300M's computer could only be accessed throught that DRB thing. The Jet modual is junk, & so is that optimizer thing. I would think this company doesn't have a 300M specific program, & really doesn't have it, or know it doesn't work with the 300M. Since it's a Chrysler they baged it to work on all of them. Anyone call them to find out?
AJ- second guess is the charm! Dieter is the right answer! Nice guy, too. Right now he's very approchable and willing to talk. Now if more executives of high profile companies were like that...
Man, you really believe in the high-touch approach (as we say in Sales). What did you speak about, and how did he respond (if you don't mind me being nosy and rude).
Mike, great picture. Did you have to climb up to that point? Looks like an opportunity for some real bad "road rash". I used to race road bikes in my younger day on Oahu. (Cat. 4) My wife and I have done a couple of organized B&B tours in Vermont. We are looking into Italy for next May or June. Andiamo!
Mike..what's with the pic of only 2 cars?...where are the other 2? Please post whatever photos you have, and I will send mine off to Roger for the web site. Meeting Herr Dieter Zetsche was a real hoot. He was certainly very affable, and I must say I was very Impressed. I only wish we had had a photo taken with him!
We pretty much introduced ourselves and which cars we have and asked nicely about the Hemi and that it should really be built.
I was probably more awestruck in his presence, but I think the jist of it was that they are of course still talking about it.
Good news in a way that it's still discussing it and it doesn't have a red light, bad news that it's not out yet and that it has more of a yellow light than a green one.
Saris: I like TNSC_300M got Michelin XGT Z4 in the stock size about one month ago. I have a '00 non-php M and these new tires make my M a lot more responsive! Almost no body roll while turning at speeds and no float while traveling at high speeds(the Goodyears had no road feel at high speeds).
I did notice that they do have some hard road noise while travling over very rough road surfaces. Discount Tire put 38lbs psi in the tires so I mite need to drop that down to 36lbs psi to help with the road noise.
Sorry a little late in the comments regarding the new CTS, but I think whether the car presents any 'competition' or not doesn't matter, the story is the CTS is just plain ugly. I'm not an anti-GM person but anything that resembles the evoq or escalade they can keep. At least the 300M looks awesome. Just hope now one of DC's key designers is gone(to GM nonetheless), that DC doesn't start shifting designs to look like the Caddy CTS! The 300N/Hemi looks great, let's hope DC doesn't change anything.
