We did look around some, but Fitz is a great place to buy, but not neccesarily a great place to shop in that they have a small lot, and most of their cars are a few miles down the road. If you're ready to buy, of course, they'll go get the one you want and do the deal better than anybody, but we're not at that stage yet.
My wife did see a Pacifica Touring AWD that she kind of fell for while we were there---crazy deal ($35k MSRP--all the goodies, DVD, etc), for $28k...but I'm leery about a Chrysler product.
I think right now we're going to pass on everything--I just don't want to make the sacrifices to get into something new, and not get EXACTLY what I want, and for most of these vehicles, exactly what we want costs too much. Sure, a Santa Fe or Veracruz SE is nice, and you can option it up, but I want auto climate control and if I didn't have it, it would bug me every single time I turned the damn knob. Bluetooth is a must must for us too, and right now Hyundai can't deliver.
We like the Highlander, but its just too pricey. The vehicle I was most impressed with was the CX-9, actually--pricing very competitive with Veracruz but you get more car and probably better driving dynamics...but still too rich.
So I guess we'll sit it out for a while until our budget can handle what we really want. Its always fun and useful to look around though.
Hang in there for the 82% of MSRP. I've made a deal for 82% of MSRP on an 07 Limited AWD w/ premium package, mats & cargo tray going through the internet sales manager, who actually had to get the price cleared through the owner of the dealership. Several of the other local dealers are telling me that the deal is too good to be true and that they are lying, but I feel they do want my business.
Hubby and I are going in to do paperwork this afternoon, so I'll post again after we seal the deal!
Sorry for late reply on this, haven't checked the forum for a while.
You do need to get the vehicle inspected within 45 days of bringing it back into canada at Canadian Tire. There IS an issue regarding the DRL, but the guy who did my inspection was a dud, and didn't notice the fact that I had left my headlights on, so he cleared me without any further hassle.
When you cross the border, you pay GST (based on the US car value, exchanged at the current exchange rate), $100 excise tax, and the $207 import fee. That's it. When I got my plates, I paid the PST (again, based on the same value as originally calculated at the border).
If I would have had to do the DRL's, it would have cost maybe another $200 or so.
From other people's posts, I think I got a fantastic deal for $26,300 for the Limited AWD with Premium package.
I have some friends intersted in importing, but they're finding that the colour selection is becoming very limited!
Also, as an FYI, the '08 Limited model comes standard with sunroof and Infinity sound system! I'm not sure what the pricing will be, and how much below invoice one would be able to get them for though!
Thought I would share what I ended up with on our 07 Santa Fe Limited FWD W/O sunroof, which we purchased August 30th from Weisner Hyundai in Conroe, TX.
MSRP was roughly 27,150 including destination charge, mats, cargo tray etc. Sorry, I don't have the exact figure in front of me.
Got them to roughly 1500 under invoice, 24,000 even.
Had the 1000 rebate, 500 rebate to finance, and another 400 rebate because I earned a degree within 24 months, so $1900 in rebates in all.
Final cost was 22,100 + TTL.
I traded in a 2003 GMC Ext Cab P/U. Full NADA value for one in pristine condition was 12,400. I received $12,500 in trade. Nobody else, like Honda, Saturn, Car Max, etc was within 1500 of that figure.
That trade also reduced the taxes considerably. TTL was about $650 all together. I did owe about $3200 on the truck, but after all of the math, I only financed about $13,600 for 36 months at 6.75%.
I feel I did very well, and I love the new car. The saleman and dealership were great as well, and they never pushed any extras on us, other than offering an ext warranty and a couple of other real basic things.
Only slight complaint is that the seats could be a little more supportive with more thigh and lower back support. We took one long drive, and I noticed my back was slightly sore. May just need to find a better driving position. But, that is picking at nits. If you are on the fence like we were due to it being a Hyundai, take the leap. You will love it!
stelmoqn, where are you dealing? My husband and I went to a dealer today, offered the 82% of MSRP, and were basically told NO WAY! He was willing to come down to 89%, which was the dealer invoice minus $1500 ($1000 rebate plus $500 military rebate). Another dealer (the internet manager) is only willing to go $200 below dealer invoice before applying the rebate. Any advice?
By the way, selmoqn, are you trading in a vehicle or are there any other special add-ons to your Santa Fe (like fabric protection, undercoating or other treatments)? I'd love to know the MSRP, AND your final negotiated price before TTL. Thanks
Since you all helped me with your experiences, I thought it would only be fair to share mine. After a lot of comparison shopping over the last six months, my wife decided she wanted a Santa Fe. I used Edmunds to request price quotes from local dealers for a 2007 AWD Limited with the Touring and Premium packages. All of the quotes I received were between $27,250 and $27,750 after the $1000 and $500 rebates, which seemed fair.
Figuring I had nothing to lose, I also tried Costco's car buying service. A few days later the dealer Costco forwarded my request to called and told me they would go lower than the Costco price. The dealer (Rosen in Algonquin, IL) gave me a quote of $26,274 on the Santa Fe which had an MSRP of $31,180. Considering it was $1000 less than any of the other quotes I was pretty skeptical, but I got it on 9/1 and that was the actual price. I did get the $1000 and $500 rebates. It came with the XM radio, floor mats and pin striping (I don't care for the pin stripes but they were already on). We've only had it for a few days but so far we're thrilled with it. I get over 22 mpg to and from work and the Deepwater Blue with the tan interior looks great. Thanks again to the previous posters and good luck to all of the other shoppers.
I would like to introduce one note of caution on offers based on MSRP: contrary to what you might think, MSRP is not a fixed number, and dealers can play with them. I learned this when dealing with a local Hyundai dealer who grossly inflates MSRP to make his prices look like a better deal, and others on this board confirmed this. Shop around online and you will see variances. My advice would be to use a service like Edmunds to calculate the invoice price on the vehicle and then base offers on it, using advice you will find in this forum to come up with a decent bottom-line. And take in prices you get online, like Fitzmall, to show your dealer what you can get elsewhere. Last piece of advice would be to contact other dealers that are within an easy hour's drive and get e-mail quotes from them. Armed with this information, you will be better able to make a deal and walk out if they won't come down in price. It may be inconvenient if you have to drive an hour or two, but if it saves you enough money, it is well worth it. (One tip if you do have to drive, though, is ask for full information, including miles on the car, before you go to the dealer.)
In post #260 on this thread, I happily reported the details of my 06 Limited, black, with beige leather. Last week my wife got rear-ended and the car is totaled. Sooo....I am back in the market. We are certain of only one thing. We are getting another Santa Fe. Looking through the thread it appears the 07 is substabtially more than the 06 and the rebate is substantially less.
My main question is this - for those of you with the touring package - if the seats are folded down, how is the storage capacity? We don't want the third row seating, but if it is all we can find we would take it. We would rather have the storage space though.
Also, I am in Alabama and willing to go anywhere within 5-6 hours to find the right car. If you know of a great dealer (or one to avoid) within the very wide borders of Jackson, MS to Huntsville, AL, to Atlanta down to Orlando, let's hear it.
Well, I am the proud new owner of a Natural Khaki 07 Limited AWD Santa Fe w/ premium package, mats & mudguards... from Arapahoe Hyundai in Denver! They were true with the quoted pricing:
24,500 before Dealer Processing, TT&L
At least 3 other dealerships told me there was absolutely no way that price was real, because the dealership would lose money on the deal...well, it was real and I HIGHLY recommend Arapahoe Hyundai, and in particular their internet sales manager, June Reynolds.
"My main question is this - for those of you with the touring package - if the seats are folded down, how is the storage capacity? We don't want the third row seating, but if it is all we can find we would take it. We would rather have the storage space though."
First of all, the Touring Package seems to be a pretty rare option. I wanted the Touring Package, and had a hard time finding one, but the dealer lots were full of Santa Fes without Touring. This was in mid-May.
As for Touring Package, it gets you the fold-down third row seat, 3rd row A/C controls, and Tow Prep (upgraded cooling system and trans cooler, basically), and a slightly higher GVWR, which means it is more capable of handling heavier loads. Tow rating increases from 2,000 to 3,500 pounds with the Touring Package.
The 3rd row seats disappear into the floor when folded. The only thing you lose is the front underfloor storage compartment. Otherwise, with the seats folded, the only way to distinguish a Santa Fe with 3rd row from one without is that the 3rd row models have cupholders and A/C vents in the side of the storage area.
M.S.R.P. is a fixed number. It's the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price as represented on the manufacturer's window sticker. If a dealer makes an adjustment to that number (e.g. "market adjustment", "added mark-up", etc.), the adjusted price is no longer accurately called "M.S.R.P.".
In addition, the bottom-line price on a dealer's sticker that includes dealer-installed "options" (e.g. paint protection, pinstripes, aftermarket accessories) is no longer accurately called "M.S.R.P.". No one here has recommended using a dealer's adjusted price as a starting point for negotiation of purchase price.
Chris, Thanks for the advice. Yes, I realize many of the dealers add on extras that they will "quote" as part of the MSRP, such as the fabric protection, etc. I spoke with a dealer today who gave me a quote on a car with all the useless dealer add-ons. When I told him I was not interested in them, he subtracted them and immediately quoted me a price $200 below dealer invoice. I've had two dealers with quotes at $200 below invoice (not including rebate), but I truly want a better deal!!! Someone help me here.
Another question I have is, how does Fitzmall sell their cars so cheap? Any personal experiences? I was using their prices as a goal, but no one seems to want to match them or come close. For example, Fitz has a Santa Fe Limited with a dealer invoice of $25,486 and sells it for $22,398. How can they sell it for that much less? Even with the $1500 rebate I am eligible for, that is still another $1588 below invoice. Someone enlighten me, please. I am ready to buy!!!!
Hi there, I'm new to this forum board, and I will go back and read the archives but thought I'd post this also. I am trying to decide between a Mitsubishi Outlander and Hyundai Santa Fe - I think I am leaning towards the Santa Fe (I have a baby and a large dog), and I wondered if I could run my initial pricing quotes past you guys. 2007 SE FWD (no additional options): (none of these include TTL, but they do include either a $1000 or $1500 rebate, I believe). $21,664 $21,585 $21,575
Am I in a decent ballpark here, or should I be going for much less?
I know I'm coming late to the game and asking for answers on things I could probably research, but thought you guys could give me a quick rundown - what is Fitzmall? Can I order from them (I'm in Michigan) and they'll deliver it for the price quoted? Do you find dealers in your area match this price? Thanks!
Fitzmall is Fitzgerald Auto Mall in the Metro DC area. At there website, Fitzmall.com, they list their no haggle prices. They do deliver anywhere, but for a price.
Gee, Chris--any chance you were talking about a certain OTHER "Jack" based dealer in Maryland (ie, NOT the one that Jack Fitzgerald owns...)
As for Fitzmall's prices, a lot probably has to do with volume. I've bought a number of cars from them (other models) and dealt with them on other occassions, and all I can tell you is that they are for real and they their prices are their prices.
This really is the type of business where the victor gets the spoils, so frequently certainly dealerships that perform particulary well get various incentives, etc.
Gosh, new to the board and I just keep posting - sorry, I get very obsessed with this research thing!
It seems most people are buying the Limited AWD. I was looking at the SE FWD. Although I live in Michigan and we do get snow, I feel the FWD should be ok (better than the 96 Sentra I currently drive). I'm trying to stay right around the $20K mark, so don't want to spend more for something I don't need.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I'm overlooking something here. Am hoping that an SE FWD would see me through ok.
Is AWD necessary in Michigan? No. Just take a look at the number of FWD and RWD vehicles around you. Would it be better than FWD? Definitely. Only you can decide how much the benefits of AWD mean to you and if you're willing to pay for them.
If you decide that you want AWD but don't want to pay the price of a Santa Fe, check out the Tucson AWD. It's a fantastic little SUV that I came very close to buying before finally deciding on my Santa Fe Limited AWD. If I was in Michigan, I'd opt for a Tucson AWD before a Santa Fe FWD.
It depends on where in Michigan you live. I grew up in Michigan (Lansing area) and never felt the need for 4wd or AWD. You just don't get enough snow in most of lower Michigan for it to be an issue.
I moved to Minnesota about a year ago, though, and after getting through just one winter here I went out an bought a 2007 Santa Fe with AWD. Why? The primary reason is that we had two snowfalls that essentially trapped us in our house. I had a Pontiac Vibe (fwd) with snow tires, and my wife had a 2005 Honda Odyssey (also fwd) with all season tires. Neither vehicle could make it more than 50 feet beyond our driveway, because the snow was too heavy and too deep. Our neighbors with AWD SUV's, meanwhile, had no trouble.
Some people say it's no big deal -- just stay home until the roads are plowed! We have three small children, however, and I'm not willing to be trapped. What if they need medical attention? Also, you may not be at home when that storm hits. I decided I wanted the assurance of AWD, even if I would only rarely "need" it.
Also, I have a boat, and I found that AWD helps a LOT at getting the boat out of the water. With fwd, you tend to spin the tires on wet ramps, but with awd, the boat just comes smoothly out of the water with no drama.
If you live in the U.P., or anywhere in the lake effect snow belt on the western side of the L.P., I'd get awd. Or if you ever want to tow a boat. Otherwise, fwd will probably serve you just fine.
Thank you! I live in Ann Arbor, where the streets are plowed pretty well. I've lived through 6 winters here now with my 96 Sentra, so I'm sure I would be ok with FWD. This way, I can save some money and maybe move up to the Limited, but keep it to FWD.
Any opinions on leather versus cloth? I know it's personal preference, and personally I sometimes think cloth is nicer (warmer) and not as slippy, but I have a small child and hairy dog, so thought leather might be easier to clean. Now I may just be getting greedy - my original plan for SE may work just fine!
If a dealer shows you invoice price that matches what Edmunds returns as invoice price, is that correct? So if they offer invoice, minus rebates, that's somewhat fair? Or could it be that the dealer paid far less than the invoice they're showing me (even if it matches Edmunds)?
Well, things happened fast today. After grumbling about several dealers only offering $200 and $0 below the dealer invoice (before rebates), I got a call back from the one we really wanted to deal with, and who had the exact Santa Fe we wanted. He asked what I wanted, I told him $600 below dealer invoice, he checked with his manager, came back and said okay. I am going to test drive it in an hour. I will post again with the final numbers to share with everyone.

While I don't own a Santa Fe - although we have friends of ours who do - I think I can offer my .02 on your question.
With small kids and furry dogs, leather is probably the way to go ... much, much easier to clean up fur and spills. Regular care and maintenance will keep it looking good for a long time.
Yes, it may be colder in the winter - seat heaters help immensely here - but the last thing you want is dog fur in your seats.
BTW, our friends have a FWD Santa Fe, and we live in Colorado. They don't seem to have any problems getting around when it snows. Of course, if it snows a lot, then you just stay home!
First, on the FWD vs. AWD, I find the AWD handles really well when it rains. I have an SE AWD. On the leather vs. cloth, my wife didn't want leather seats, she finds them too hot. We got an SE with option group 24, which includes heated power seats, sunroof, and the homelink auto-dimming mirror. The limited may have a few more creature comforts, but these were the options we really wanted.
Okay, I signed the papers on our new Santa Fe Limited tonight. Here are the details:
Slate blue exterior/gray leather interior Limited with XM, 5-passenger mats, cargo tray, front and read mudguards & First Aid Kit MSRP: $27,095 Dealer invoice: $25,614 Final negotiated price before TTL: $23,514 Out the door price with TX taxes, title & license: $25,214.46
We basically got $600 below dealer invoice, plus $1500 in rebates. I was really shooting for 84% of MSRP, but ended up paying 86.8%.
Thanks again for everyone else's posts. They were very helpful in my car shopping and dealing!
Technically you are right, mpuzach. However, dealers don't always playing by the rules. Just check out (as jiminyintx correctly pointed out) jacksaysyes.com. Their site lists "MSRP" values that would better be described as a dealer's adjusted price, and I am sure that they are not the only dealership in the country that does this. As a result - and this is the point I was getting at - you are better off using something like Edmunds' invoice price as the basis for calculating what you want to offer/accept than what the dealer may list as MSRP.
Hi everyone, I am new to the forum but have been reading for a while. Love all the help and suggestions and I am hoping someone will help me, too :-) I am in the market for a 2007 Santa FE SE FWD with the touring package, nothing else - very hard to find. I finally got an offer for $26,000 even, reduced after some "e-mail haggling" ( I have not actually visited the dealer yet ) to $24,880 OTD. The local dealer called me yesterday to say that they also had an SE FWD with the touring package. As it turns out, that one also has the premium package ( which I really don't need but I agree that it might be nice to have ). Anyway, the local dealer quoted me $27,000 OTD for the SE FWD with touring and premium package. He said that the other dealer must be wrong about the $24,880 and that he could not afford to match that price - even though the sales assistant told me on the phone yesterday that they would. That in itself turns me off that dealership. Anyway, what is the consensus? $27,000 OTD seems a bit steep for a SE with touring and premium package. What about the offer of $24,880 OTD for the SE with the touring package? Should I push for a better deal? I am not born to haggle and the experience this morning at the local dealership just caused me enormous heartburn. I offered the dealer $25,000 even OTD for his Santa FE w/touring and premium package and he looked as if he wanted to slap me.
I don't know about you guys, but in looking at getting an '07 SE FWD (no options) I'm going to offer them $20k OTD. I'll go up to 21 but that's it. But before I go storming around, I'm planning on getting a report on the Sante Fe from www.fightingchance.com
Anyone had any experience with these guys? From what I've read on other sites, they sound like they have a good thing going. But I'd love to here from some of you around here!
edit: By the way, does anyone know of a site where you can estimate your tax, title, and registration costs?
As has been mentioned here several times, it's tough to comment on OTD numbers since we don't know your state sales tax and registration rates. A much more effective way to evaluate your deal is purchase price (exclusive of tax and registration but inclusive of all added dealer fees) vs. dealer invoice. You should be able to buy the car for roughly $500 - $1000 under invoice, less all rebates that you qualify for. (That's the other missing piece of info in your post - you didn't specify what rebates you were getting and whether or not they were figured into your "OTD" price.
Assuming that the car you're considering has XM and carpeted mats, dealer invoice is $26,123. That's for a 2007 SE FWD with XM, mats, Premium Package, and Touring Package. You should be able to buy it for somewhere between $25,123 and $25,623 PLUS tax and license, LESS rebates. If your dealer is offering a deal within that range and if the car is equipped to your liking, grab it.
BTW, the Premium Package on the SE is definitely worth the price; I recommend that you get it. If, however, you choose not to, invoice drops to $24,667. That means you should be able to buy for $23,667 - $24,117 PLUS tax and license, LESS rebates.
If you can buy it for that OTD, I'm sure a lot of us here would like to know how you do it. Invoice on the car (no XM and no options) is $23,146. Add tax and license (you said OTD) and you're getting close to $25,000. Deduct $1500 in rebates and you're still in the $23's. I don't see how anyone could sell it for $21K without taking a loss.
Yeah, perhaps you're right. Might be a touch too low. Of course with the 2008 model due to roll out any week now, it might not be a bad starting point for negotiations.
I saw on that Fitz website where they had an '07 SE FWD with the premium package for $21,945. I couldn't find any "naked" SE's though so I'm unsure what they would have priced them out at.
Dang, I need to figure out what my TTL is roughly going to be...
Thanks. I am still learning :-) We are a military family and while we live in MS, we will have to register the car in IL. Tax rate there is 6.75%, documentation fee about $58,00. Our rebate would amount to $1,000 plus %500,00 military discount. Financing is not necessary. If I take the higher of the two amounts you stated, I am looking at 25,623 plus 6.75% tax ( $ 1,730.00 ) plus documentation fee of $58,00 minus $1,500 rebate. That would bring me to $25,911.00 . I was willing to go up to $26,000 so I am right in that ballpark but $27,000 did seem steep. The other option is the SE without the premium package which would add up to about $24,300.00. I was already offered $24,800.00 so I'll counteroffer with 24,000.00 and see what happens :-)
Cool. Again, I highly recommend going with the Premium Package. The moonroof, heated seats, power driver's seat, and HomeLink are definitely worth the money. Good luck with your purchase.
ok, so I waited until 9/5 for the new rebates and was disappointed. Hyundai must be offering the incentives to the dealers. I just go the first internet quote (2 more coming) Dallas,TX metroplex '07 SE 3.3L FWD I asked for the touring package (3rd row) I was told MSRP was 24,829 (which is darn close to Edmunds) Then I was told they will do 20,320 (1k rebate + 500 finance rebate) +TTL. Offer is good for 10 days. hoping to shave a little more off when I go in, but not sure what to expect happy hunting!
That M.S.R.P. number is low. Even if it's an earlier-production SE (without XM), M.S.R.P. on a FWD SE with Touring Package and carpeted mats (which dealers seem to always order) is $25,730. Invoice is $24,454. If they're selling it to you for $20,320 consider it a fantastic deal. Geez, it's over $2600 under invoice less rebates. How much cheaper do you think you should get it for?
I bought my AWD SE w/Touring pkg last feb with Snow on the ground...bad time to buy a 4WD in Nevada! I paid about $1800 more (adjusting $2k for my AWD) and am still happy as a clam.
NEVER thought I would EVER own something that said Hyundai but the SF is a joy. BTW: I am used to buying a new vehicle every few yrs...I think that has stopped, as the SF is not lacking anywhere that i have seen during my 6 months of ownership. Amazingly I have not become bored with it either. (my downfall) :shades:
Remember that there are just so many 07's left and IMHO dealers will be going for the neck when the 1st 08s hit the floor! Also depends on how many 07's your dealer actually has. remember, they are fair game for other dealers in the system as well!! My advice...when you hit the "wall" stop and buy it...you will not look back!
Good Luck with your purchase, and do check that all TSB's have been done to it since it is an early build: ie: front dome light, ambient temp sensor wiring and a few other things mentioned here on the forum. maybe you can get them to throw in at least the "special" Hyundai trailer prewire harness as well...about $81 retail!
Having to buy that proprietary harness burned my butt after the Touring pkg said "prewired for trailer...I figured it just needed an ordinary $35 converter!
If you have followed my posts in recent days, you'll see I brokered a deal to buy a Limited FWD on Sep. 4. We went last night(Sep 5) to sign the final papers and write a check. Imagine our surprise when the salesman said we were getting another $500 off due to the new month's rebate of $1500 on the Sant Fe. I went to the Hyundai USA website this morning and see no mention of it. Maybe it is just lagging. Surely this is not just a Texas incentive. Either way, we asked no questions and gladly paid $500 less than expected. This brought our price down to $23,014 before TTL, but including $2000 in rebates ($1500 plus $500 military). For those who have followed my thread, this made our final price 85% of MSRP ---- Fitzmall's prices are about 83-85%, so I feel pretty good. Thank God for perfect timing!
On a side note, my radio/XM did not work when we picked it up at near closing time, so I have to bring it back today --hope this is not a sign of things to come. Also, I noticed considerable wind noise driving home last night. Anyone have any wind noise problems with their Santa Fe?
I bought a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited FWD last month at a local dealership. Went the day before to take a test drive and hash out the numbers if I were to buy. I only wanted OTD numbers and we got down to my trade in for $2500 and an OTD price of $22,500 for the truck. Went home and thought about it and took the deal. When all was said and done I got $3000 for my trade in to make the deal work. Still got my 22.5k OTD.......
And I only paid $300 more for my trade in 5 years ago.
Ok, I did it. I purchased the Santa FE ( no XM )FWD with the premium and touring package and car mats in pearl white ( not my preferred color but the only choice in the lot ). I paid:
$25,605 negotiated price $1,400.00 trade allowance for my old jalopy $299,00 fees $1,654.07 sales tax less $2,000 rebate for a total of $24,158.83
It was a long day and I don't want to hear that I was had I drove 1 1/2 hours home and I am tickled with the ride. On the interstate a RV blew a tire right next to us and I thought the we had been shot, LOL. Other than that it was a pleasurable trip back home.
Congrats, pinebelt! You got a great deal on a great SUV. The Pearl White looks great on the Santa Fe. (It's also the sole extra-cost color, making your deal even sweeter.) I'm wholly confident that you'll enjoy everything about the Premium Package; you definitely made the right choice IMO. Enjoy your new Santa Fe. It's a terrific ride.
Am in Dallas and would like to know who you are dealing with? I received email quotes for a Ltd with touring and premium package (one bid was "bait and switch" - so I left). I haggling now. was quoted $25414 and I thought that was a little high ($800 less on Fitzmall, less than what you quoted, less than the $24350 that someone esle quoted) Looking for advice amd considering waiting the 2 weeks and buying an '08. MSRPs are in the 29K according to Edmunds. and Invoices are closer to $26800 (dealer holdback is $835) Thanks
thanks for the info, just went to dealership and got the old switcheroo. Was a little steamed. Am finding out that several dealerships in Dallas are just emailing back with a "yes, we have it" to get you in the door. Another one emailed me a price and didnt feel like any further negotiations where in order (they were 1K high) and would not counter my offer. Fortunately, I have more time than money.
I got the beige, exactly the color combo I didn't want, LOL. I would have preferred the khaki with the darker interior. Color was the least of my worries though. I swear, if you try to buy a car as a "single female" they think they can take you for everything you have and then some. One dealer had the nerve to ask me if my husband knew that I was buying a car  ( answer: yes he knows and no, you're not getting my money. Exit left )
I HOPE YOU LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION ON THE IDIOT! if you had a dog with you, you could have let him test drive the upolostry and maybe the bozo would have had to clean it himself! The good news is that he loses the commission. Maybe ba trip back to the loser in your new SF would be in order..... :P
Good luck with your new SF...You will love it! My 07 is also an SE with Touring pkg (really just wanted the 3.3L engine and HD cooling pkg that is part of the tow portion of the pkg.(it gets really hot in then High sierra of Nevada!) I had no use for the 3rd row of munshkin seats
Sammyz, I'm also in the Dallas area. Not sure which dealers you have tried so far but I bought from Allen Samuels in early June and found them to be the best deal in the Metroplex at the time. Vehicle is FWD Ltd. with premium pkg and mats. MSRP was $27,860 plus another couple hundred or so for stripes and two front windows tinted. I paid $21,500 + TTL. Granted, this was during the balloon rebate days so my total rebate was $2,550 including the standard $1,000. So, the rebates were stronger but the point is that Allen Samuels will sell for well under invoice regardless. Plus, we are 3 months later in the year now and per my visit to their service dept. a few weeks ago they appear to still have a very well-stocked lot of SFs. Now I know this post is going to spawn another round of "how were you able to buy so cheaply, it must be too good to be true" from the usual suspects on this board but I'd seriously give them a shot if you haven't already.
2024 Ram 1500 Longhorn, 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 2019 Ford Mustang GT Premium, 2016 Kia Optima SX, 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
It just so happens the dealer I bought my Sante from in April and paid $3200 under MSRP, which I thought was an pretty good deal at the time, is now advertising $5000 off MSRP plus any factory rebates, the ad states he has 32 in stock. They are making way for the 2008`s, I wish now I would have have waited, but you never know, usually all they have left are the dogs no one else wants.

Hubby and I are going in to do paperwork this afternoon, so I'll post again after we seal the deal!
I'm SO excited...
By the way, selmoqn, are you trading in a vehicle or are there any other special add-ons to your Santa Fe (like fabric protection, undercoating or other treatments)? I'd love to know the MSRP, AND your final negotiated price before TTL. Thanks
Good luck!
Chris
My main question is this - for those of you with the touring package - if the seats are folded down, how is the storage capacity? We don't want the third row seating, but if it is all we can find we would take it. We would rather have the storage space though.
Also, I am in Alabama and willing to go anywhere within 5-6 hours to find the right car. If you know of a great dealer (or one to avoid) within the very wide borders of Jackson, MS to Huntsville, AL, to Atlanta down to Orlando, let's hear it.
from Arapahoe Hyundai in Denver!
Check one out, and I think you'll be impressed.
Thanks for the advice.
I'm new to this forum board, and I will go back and read the archives but thought I'd post this also.
$21,664
$21,585
$21,575
Am I in a decent ballpark here, or should I be going for much less?
Thanks!
-Sarah
Do you find dealers in your area match this price?
Thanks!
Thanks!
-Sarah
If you decide that you want AWD but don't want to pay the price of a Santa Fe, check out the Tucson AWD. It's a fantastic little SUV that I came very close to buying before finally deciding on my Santa Fe Limited AWD. If I was in Michigan, I'd opt for a Tucson AWD before a Santa Fe FWD.
This board is terrific - thank you!
Good luck!
Slate blue exterior/gray leather interior Limited with XM, 5-passenger mats, cargo tray, front and read mudguards & First Aid Kit
MSRP: $27,095
Dealer invoice: $25,614
Final negotiated price before TTL: $23,514
Out the door price with TX taxes, title & license: $25,214.46
We basically got $600 below dealer invoice, plus $1500 in rebates. I was really shooting for 84% of MSRP, but ended up paying 86.8%.
Thanks again for everyone else's posts. They were very helpful in my car shopping and dealing!
Chris
I am in the market for a 2007 Santa FE SE FWD with the touring package, nothing else - very hard to find.
Anyone had any experience with these guys? From what I've read on other sites, they sound like they have a good thing going. But I'd love to here from some of you around here!
edit: By the way, does anyone know of a site where you can estimate your tax, title, and registration costs?
I saw on that Fitz website where they had an '07 SE FWD with the premium package for $21,945. I couldn't find any "naked" SE's though so I'm unsure what they would have priced them out at.
Dang, I need to figure out what my TTL is roughly going to be...
We are a military family and while we live in MS, we will have to register the car in IL.
'07 SE 3.3L FWD
I asked for the touring package (3rd row)
I was told MSRP was 24,829 (which is darn close to Edmunds)
Then I was told they will do 20,320 (1k rebate + 500 finance rebate) +TTL. Offer is good for 10 days.
hoping to shave a little more off when I go in, but not sure what to expect
happy hunting!
On a side note, my radio/XM did not work when we picked it up at near closing time, so I have to bring it back today --hope this is not a sign of things to come. Also, I noticed considerable wind noise driving home last night. Anyone have any wind noise problems with their Santa Fe?
And I only paid $300 more for my trade in 5 years ago.
I was happy.
I paid:
$25,605 negotiated price
$1,400.00 trade allowance for my old jalopy
$299,00 fees
$1,654.07 sales tax
less $2,000 rebate
for a total of $24,158.83
It was a long day and I don't want to hear that I was had
I drove 1 1/2 hours home and I am tickled with the ride. On the interstate a RV blew a tire right next to us and I thought the we had been shot, LOL. Other than that it was a pleasurable trip back home.
BTW, which interior color did you get?
I received email quotes for a Ltd with touring and premium package (one bid was "bait and switch" - so I left).
I haggling now. was quoted $25414 and I thought that was a little high ($800 less on Fitzmall, less than what you quoted, less than the $24350 that someone esle quoted)
Looking for advice amd considering waiting the 2 weeks and buying an '08. MSRPs are in the 29K according to Edmunds. and Invoices are closer to $26800 (dealer holdback is $835)
Thanks
Am finding out that several dealerships in Dallas are just emailing back with a "yes, we have it" to get you in the door. Another one emailed me a price and didnt feel like any further negotiations where in order (they were 1K high) and would not counter my offer.
Fortunately, I have more time than money.
I HOPE YOU LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION ON THE IDIOT! if you had a dog with you, you could have let him test drive the upolostry and maybe the bozo would have had to clean it himself!
