I bought a 2013 Honda Accord 1 year ago and the CVT transmission which is under warranty has been jerking and the transmission has not been smooth. No its not the way I drive. The dealer has a bulletin from Honda USA about this issue and it tells the dealer to place some sort of kit into the transmission to fix the problem. Honda put the kit in the transmission but it did not fix the problem. Next the dealer got the Honda engineers involved and they hooked a computer up the the car and drove it. Then they did the same to another 2013 Accord with a CVT transmission to compare. Both vehicle do the same thing so the Honda engineers claim this in normal.
Honda USA is aware the 2013 Honda Accord CVT transmission has problems. The mechanic and service adviser both told me there is something wrong with this transmission but they cant do anything about it because Honda USA does not know how to fix the problem and they do not want to be responsible for it.
This 2013 Accord CVT transmission problem is not normal. You must either file a law suit against Honda or take them to arbitration to force them to do something about this issue.
I seem to be having a problem with the CVT transmission in a 2016 CRV-EX. I have owned the vehicle for about 5 months and it has about 4K miles on it. On approximately 20 occasions the accelerator pedal has "frozen" and refuses to respond and the car immediately begins to slow down as the engine returns to an idle RPM of about 1100. After I take my foot off the pedal for 2-3 seconds and letting the vehicle coast, the problem corrects itself and I am able to continue. I can go for a few weeks with no problem, but two weeks ago it occurred 3 times during a 10 mile round trip to a store. It has occurred when I am trying to accelerate after making a turn, changing a lane or simply trying to get up to speed from a full stop. It most frequently occurs when the car is making a right turn and I try to accelerate to get up a modest incline. It has occurred when I was going 75MPH on an Xway and once when I was simply trying to maintain speed on a level road. The dealer has kept the car twice but it has not malfunctioned for the mechanics. Has anybody had a similar problem?
I found this on another Accord web site from June 8th that there is an update to the CVT issues. I don't own this model so I can't give you a first hand account.

Hi I am interested in purchasing a 2013 Honda Accord EX w CVT from the dealership today. However, after reading these comments, I am very reluctant about moving forward. My VIN number begins with the numbers of those affected. i am also reluctant about looking at 2014 models because of this discussion. Can you tell me, if the car is certified, at the Honda dealership, did they do the software updates to correct these problems, or should I just consider another car and year model. Thank yoU! Would the 2015 -2017 models be better to consider for purchasing preowned? Thank you!

It seems likely the dealer would have fixed it. But you should ask them. My wife has a 2013 Accord with the CVT and we haven't had a problem with it. But my 2016 Accord EX with the CVT is a little bit smoother.
You might consider a new 2017 Accord EX, since currently there are discounts of more than $4000 on the last of this generation of Accords. Starting in 2016, the Accord EX comes with AndroidAuto/AppleCarPlay, which is a great feature. For AndroidAuto you get google maps navi with excellent voice recognition. I love it. You might be able to pick up a 2017 Accord EX for c. $23k + TTL, plus Honda will throw in 0.9 financing for 5 years. It's a buyer's market for sure.
Bottom line is that Honda's CVT is a great transmission imho. Compared to my 2008 Accord I get about 10 more miles per gallon on the highway—c.37-40 mpg, depending on speed, ac use, etc.. It gives fast and smooth acceleration. I love it.
There is a tsb on shudder or judder on light acceleration requiring the trans valve body be replaced with an updated model and the tcm be reprogrammed. The dealer should be aware of this.
I have a 2013 accord with electric steering and have noticed it seems to wander at highway speeds.I haven't found any tsbs on this matter or any verifiable problems with the steering, yet.I thought it might just be me getting use to a different car.Hmmm.Maybe not.If anyone knows of the technical problem causing this, would love to hear about it.
2015 Honda Accord Stalling While Reversing: I have a 2015 Honda Accord with 15,000 miles. This morning while slowly reversing from the garage, the car suddenly jerked and then stalled. It started right up after stalling. This happened one other time with a similar reaction and outcome. Does anyone know what of a problem may cause this to happen? What should I do? Call the dealer?
I have a 2013 and have been having this same issue. I got a diagnostic test done at Honda and they basically want to charge me over $1000 to flush fluids and reset. However it’s a 40/50% chance that will work. A car 6 years transmission should be not going bad... how did anyone get their solution resolved...
I have 2019 Honda Pilot Almost 2 year ago my transmission hot light came on (50k miles). I pulled over waited for it to cool and the light go off. I brought it to Honda Mahwah. They told me there was nothing wrong with the car. Last year I was getting a little hesitation. I had the car tuned still hesitation. Brought to Honda (80k miles) Im told I need a new transmission $9,000. I filed a complaint, they should have fixed it when it was under warranty. They told me their mechanics are reliable and they offer me $1600 towards the repair but I have to take to their service center. Im still paying off this car. NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA
