But, just what exactly was your job?
Well on the up side your truck is payed for so you won't have to sacrifice that, you student loans don't kick in till you graduate so life is not all that sour. A new job will come, why not try for one in the field your taking at college??
Ray T.
That is why I was wondering what his most recent job was.
You'll never guess what I saw two days ago...
A new Tundra with a snow plow in the front of it, with 6 adults seated comfortably inside, 2000 lbs. of gravel in the back of it, and it was also pulling a 8000 lb. 5th wheel trailer ........ amazing, just absolutely amazing!! Damn, and I had to go and buy a Silverado, what was I thinking.
When Bama talks about every product that Toyota makes being better than anything else out there, I thought he was just kidding.

I am sorry to hear that you lost your job. Better to go thru this now when you still live at home (I do too when not in the dorms). Your truck is paid for, your student loans are not due. It can be an experience that will lead you to be a better person, and help you out in the future. Learn from what life deals you and learn from your mistakes.
When do you graduate, I forget, I graduate in May. The job that I thought I had wrapped up with ADM I have been turned down for. I am planning for now on farming for now. If that doesn't pan out I will go to Law school. So is life. My housing for now is paid for, I have been paying for my school as I go. I do have a large truck payment now that I bought the Duramax, but that isn't a problem for me, since it was my choice to borrow at 0%.
Best of luck and best wishes
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Also, did your abs work differently before you got your speedometer re-programmed?
Lastly...got an email for Hunter98? If so, just email it to me, motronix@vsdrives.com. Want to ask about his (I think) Kelly Springfield LT255/85/R16.

If you didn't raise the torsion bars when you put the big tires on, would they rub?
NOPE. I DIDNT RAISE THE TBARS TILL SEPT ABOUT 9-10K MILES AFTER I GOT THE TIRES
Also, did your abs work differently before you got your speedometer re-programmed?
I COULD TELL A SLIGHT VERY SLIGHT DIFFERENCE IN THE BRAKING. SEEMED TO TAKE LONGER TO STOP IF THAT MAKES SENSE. IT WASNT ANYTHING WHICH WOULD CAUSE A SAFETY CONCERN
(sorry bout the caps just wanted it to stand out)
Hope this helps
Thanks,
Dano
I also put 285's on my 01 4x. No rubbing here. Even on a severe desert run. If you don't have a Hypertech or the Jet SCU2000 to adjust for the larger tires. You can have the dealer adjust the computer for the ABS only. They will not adjust the spedo to compensate.
I don't want to hassle with the dealer reprogram. Besides, I may switch back later. I wonder how much it really matters to the abs? Hypertech doesn't have a programmer for the Duramax. Got a link for Jet SCU2000?
Ryan,
>I COULD TELL A SLIGHT VERY SLIGHT DIFFERENCE IN THE BRAKING. SEEMED TO TAKE LONGER TO STOP IF THAT MAKES SENSE.<
Even if there was no effect on abs, it would be normal for it to need a little more brake pressure, since more torque is needed to stop. Torque=Force times Radius. More radius, more torque. Did you notice anything different in how the abs reacted in the wet, slippery stuff before reprogramming?
I got my tires on a thursday night. That night there was snow on the ground. No problems stopping at all. I even had to make 1 very fast slam on the brakes stop. Truck was fine
Next day i went to dealer found out they didnt have a program. That afternoon i bought the HPIII. I only put on about 50 miles before i reprogrammed
Ryan
That was a plus
Wait...one question. Ryan, what was the weight difference between the 285s and the stock 265s? Information needed to plug into Fig Newton's formula....
My system was Adelphia....but eventually became comcast....
oh well....just give me the net!
- Tim
the 285's weigh more than the 265's
its like a feather to concrete

You will need to look under the domestic catalog.
It is known as the SCU2000 and as of this time
I think they only support to the 2000 model year.
I used one on my 1997 GMC and it worked great.
Does anyone know yet!

The main thing is to keep records (the owners manuals have a specific place to record such info) as to mileage/date/oil type & quantity. Anything ever goes wrong that's the first thing dealers look for to discredit the owner. Factory recommends oil changes at 7500 (or sooner for severe condition use) on Silverado's, so anything above and beyond is up to you. Dealers like to issue their own booklets for change intervals that are not factory recommendations but theirs, to keep business flowing and trick some customers who don't know any better.

No sheet metal damage as far as I can tell.
Old '90 Montero was known as "the Deerslayer" - big slab of steel in front attached to massive frame - killed deer without vehicle damage. It actually put meat in my freezer.

Went thru this about 3 weeks ago, my insurance covers this under Comprehensive but I have $200 deductable, so w/$549 in damage I get a check less the deductable. I told my agent I will probably fix myself cuz all the damaged parts were not visible to the eye and a little plastic epoxy would do the trick. That's all well and good but State Farm wants to see proof (receipt)from a certified body shop that work was done or they'll deduct this claim from any future claims on the parts listed on estimate. They always have ways to screw the customer, I'm not certifed but I do know how to fix it and have for that matter.
