Tis a noble thing to be of service to humanity, even in such a God forsaken barren land of hardship, strife, struggle, sacrifice! (And we got real long lift lines, and corn snow)

How do I post pictures from the WebPhotos albums. I haven't figured out the url for the specific photos, what is the trick? I can only get the site for the album, not the picture.
    Thanks,
    -Eric

Eric... once you're to the site for the pics, usually it's just a matter of adding the filename of the pic to the link, something like this:

    http://www.myphotos.com/mypic.jpg

A fictitious example, but hopefully it illustrates the idea. If you're still running into a roadblock, feel free to drop me an email and we can hammer it out!

They're using sand instead of salt in Kazoo? Hmmm. I've been away too long.

Sand was the standard item up north in da UP, eh, becasue it was too cold for salt to work. But in Troll-land, it was always salt.

Here in central IL, it's 3 pounds of salt per square foot of pavement if the weatherman even thinks of snow.

Sure you can move out here to Colorado....at least you know how to drive in the snow!!
Honestly I don't know where some of these people learned to drive...then it snows and their true colors shine!! I'm sure this is the case anywhere you go, but man it is frustrating to have to share the roads with these blue ribbon choice picks we have here.

The first time I went to Colorado I swear I saw more TX plates than CO. My Wife has family in Canon City and "the Springs".

I guess I am a moron (no feedback please, thanks) but the url link is javascript, not an address. I can't seem to get the link, that is the problem.

even though I ordered the ext/interior handles the day before I did the cluster. Took about 15 minutes to install including finding a dropped screw. Very easy no brainer mod which has the trans temp gauge and a 120 mph speedo. Now for the door tag to show the old odometer reading....what was it 34 or 43,000 miles...hmmm.

    Hey Guys,

I has been while since I posted on here but I have a question and you guys may have the answer.

On the 99 new body style chevy truck it did not come with a switch on the dash to turn off or (override) the Auto headlight switch that is mounted in the dash.

I bought one and installed it. It works great but I can not remember where the heck I got it. Do you guys have a clue as to where I can find them on the net. My computer crashed months ago and I lost most of my links.

    Thanks, Jim
  • ranger354vranger354v Member Posts: 2
I guess I should have stated that you can buy an aftermarket switch that installs near the Air Bag switch. Just don't have a clue where I bought it.

Those folks slidding around in front of you in Colorado, were probably transplants from California trying to get away from congestion...hehe ( don't blame me, wife said that. she lived there for 10 years, and yes Ryan, girls seem to like it there for some reason. maybe they think they'll have an upfront encounter with Kevin Costner...??? hehe)

5244...Tim how long has it been...3 years you been tryin to get that...??? I know what it's like to be like Rodney Dangerfield...haha!

Dean, did the trans temp gauge work in the new cluster, and did the air bag light stay on or did it go out. What about the light bulb color? On the door handles, did they come color matched or was it necessary to paint them before installation?

Did I forgot to mention that I ordered the handles a day BEFORE the cluster? And no handles received yet. back-ordered perhaps?

Yes, the trans temp gauge works; no air bag light that remains on; bulb color is best described as one that gives off a slightly greenish hue...course since it was so easy to R/R, I may opt to change the color of the bulbs to red white and blue....

From what I understand, the actual handle is chrome and the rest is black which would require painting. I didn't want it all black cause then it would start to look like a LT since I had the body side moldings painted black. And no, I won't be painting the mirrors to match either...rather looking into options to replace with auto dimming.

BTW, did you finally install the Poron reversing sensors? I know it's been over a year. I finally got my replacement controller back from Poron and will probably install it over the weekend. Hopefully the sensors are still there under the truck...haha!
  • txyank1txyank1 Member Posts: 1,010
when you change the cluster as a precautionary measure? Somehow my Nephew managed to short out his computer when changing his. Seen the Flame ones advertised in the mags? That's what he put in. Looks pretty cool. Or Hot!

I agree, first thing I did was disconnect the battery. Especially with a capacitor under the seat for the stereo.

I added some pics of my first truck, a 1987 S-10 that I lifted and put bigger tires on. There are also some good 4 wheeling pics.

I posted in the SUV thread but I'll "fish" in this hole as well. I have a '97 Tahoe that the wife drives. Have developed a problem where the interior lights will turn themselves on in the middle of the night and drain the battery. My local mechanic has replaced bateery, alternator, headlight/dome override switch, and a couple of modules under the dash. Now the interior lights stay on when the engine is running and doors are closed. The dome override button solves the problem when it is pushed in but it's a pain to have no interior lights at night. Anyone have similar problems or a suggestion.

    Thanks

Does your Tahoe have a delay lighting ?
Where everything stays on a couple of
minutes after u open the door?
(If it does not same deal anyway)
My Caddy had the same problem and they
replaced everything still did it !!!!
Dead battery,Interior lights had a mind
    of their own !
Found out thru trial and error it was
    the stupid Button (plunger-on-off)
switch in the door jamb. It went in
and out ok but was broken internally(spl)
Replaced plastic ones with dealer updated
    steel ones.....Prob solved !.....Geo
  • sonjaabsonjaab Member Posts: 1,057
My GM tech buddy sez some of the newer
GM s have that switch in the door pull
    and sometimes they break internally(spl)
also and cause fantom lites and dead batt.
    .......Geo

NOTE: Its ALWAYS the one in the drivers
door !!!! Especially if you live in the
    NE snow and ice !

I have a 2001 1500 LT Ext Cab 2WD (traction control, locking 3.73, towing stuff).

Absolutely love the truck, but have bought a 5th-wheel RV and feel the truck (especially tranny and rear axle bearings) might get whacked pulling this load.

So thought about moving up to the exact duplicate truck, but in a 2500 series. Does Chev make this in a 2WD?

Now you want toput a Supercharger in your truck!! Don't make me laugh! You can't even work ABS brakes correctly!. If you want the best Supercharger for the money check out Ligenfelter. He makes a system. It's expesive but worth it. Pulling low to mid 13's on the track with a 5.5 PSI boost. But considering how much this would cost go and get something made for sped like a bike or better yet, put that 10K down on a new Vette!!!

Neither exhibits the total lack of knowledge that this one has.

Check out Lingenfelter for a supercharger?....they advertise the magnacharger....big deal. Do you even know what lingenfelter does? One thing for sure....he don't make superchargers.

on the "new" truck. I loved my '99 4.8 but this '01 5.3 is awsome. Good luck with it.

4.5" in my area.....my drive has more like 6"....(40 miles North of Detroit)

and once again we get to find out how good a Mustang with performance tires and posi does in the snow...as I had to go take some weight to put in the wifes car so she could get home without sliding all over....

We need that sport trac (I know....cringe now...but what she wants) for her....until then it's 'Ado to the rescue...LOL

    Enjoy

In a word, NO. If you want an extended cab 2500 you must get a 4wd, if you want a 2wd, you are stuck with a Reg Cab.

Makes me real glad I got a 2000. The configuration I ordered (Reg Cab 4wd) is no longer offered. Actually, that is why I ordered when I did. I thought GM would play follow the Ford and do as Ford did when the SDs came out. Sure enough, they did and started reducing the models and availability of the 2500.

we didnt get &*^#^$. It snowed for about 2 hours (white out conditions for a little bit). But basically some stuck (1-2") and the rest melted. It was to warm out. Latest snow was a disappointment :(
  • txyank1txyank1 Member Posts: 1,010
a Sport Trac but didn't like what I was reading about the handling. Saw one over the weekend with the back full of refrigerator. It wasn't sagging!
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
...it would be fine. Could haul her bike and kayak when need be...small hauling trips could be done without switching vehicles...and she would have room for the neices and nephews when she is with them...VS a back seat of a convertable. If we need to get dirt or pallets...we have the 2500. Plus she likes the concept and openess of the rear window and moonroof. So let her get what she wants.......or they ain't happy!

"and she would have room for the neices and nephews when she is with them"

Remember when they wrote all over your truck when it was dirty (did that ever come out?). With her own truck they wont have to drive in yours and the opportunity for them to do destructive things will not happen

Yep you gotta keep the woman happy. If she aitn happy no one is haha

    See i am learning :)

Go with the 2500 HD CrewCab Duramax. You'll love it. 5th wheel setup will pull almost 8 tons. The Duramax is much more quiet than the Ford Power Stroke and immensely more quiet than the Dodge Cummins. Even though the torque (520lbs) and power (300hp) are very adequate for this truck, local 3rd party garages can boost hp/torque to 400hp/700lbs just by changing the computer chip. They also say that the fuel mileage will increase as well. I already get 18-20mpg driving back and forth to work. On the open hiway I get 24 unloaded. Puling 3 tons on the hiway, I get 13-15mpg.

No I am a stupid person as you say. Of course I don't know what Ligenfelter does. After all I did make that Vette comment you missed. Oh, should I have mentioned his TA and Camaro cars as well? I mean I wouldn't mind putting one of his products in my truck why should you?? It's only a quality part and a reconigzed name in the industry and all. And why are you even doing it?? Is I recall you said your truck was a lemon?? After all they put instructions on how to use the ABS sytem in the owner's manual and all!
