If you have the part number you can quickly see how much they charge for your item and I have found them to be way cheaper than the dealer and competitive to other places. I remember paying like $40 for my molded splash guards and they are around $22 a pair on this site.

The first chance I get I am going to return the power module.

The only other mod I had installed was a borla cat-back exhaust...definetly worth the money... It looks and sounds much better than the stock muffler. What ever you do don't order it directly from borla...other places have it for 300 less.

Thinking about installing set of eibach springs.. want to give the car a more sporty look.

I have the money set aside to order the Borla exhaust (from Jegs for $649), but have been hoping someone else would beat me to it and confirm the quality. A couple questions for you:

How long did it take to arrive? Jegs has to order it and told me six weeks.

Is there any way you can post pics? If you have no webspace, let me know and I will happily host the pics for you.

Does it sound pretty much like the little shockwave sound clip on the web site?

Looking forward to hearing more about it, as this is the one mod I am chomping at the bit to perform.

    Thanks!

How does the borla sound? Is it too loud on the freeway "drone"? How about interior noise? How does it look? Thanks
  • impalafreakimpalafreak Member Posts: 14
The quality of it is good but not perfect. The muffler shop had to shorten the length on one side so the mufflers would stick out evenly. They also had to make custom hangers for one of the mufflers.
I really can't say how long it takes to arrive.. my order really got screwed up.. could go on for hours. I received my exhaust almost two months after I ordered it.

The shock wave sound clip is generic... they play the same one for several different cars. The sound is not that loud, its most noticeable around 2000-3000rpms and at low speeds. It does drone on the highway but It's not that bad. The sound also changes after you break it in.

I will try to find a way post some pics.. If I have any problems I will let you know. The web site has a pic of the tips... for now just imagine two of those sitting below the rear bumper.
  • The logo mats from Chuck Hutton arrived today. 00impala sure was right. They're the same cheap quality as the mats that came with the car. The logo is the same color as the mats. You can barely see it!
I'll contact Kim tomorrow, and see if I can return them. If it cost too much, I'll just keep 'em. I really hate spending this much time looking for the kind of mats that should have come with the car in the first place.
The thing that really burns me is that the rear mats are EXACTLY THE SAME as the ones that came with the car. Why do they even sell a set of 4, if they know you already have 2 of 'em?!
    Jeez.
  • Get this. I didn't examine all of them when I first opened the box. I just noticed that one of the front mats has a huge ink stain on it. Not just poor quality...poor quality control, too.
This shouldn't cost me anything to return. Yay!

Does anyone know where to get high quality THICK & PLUSH carpeted Impala logo mats? I'd be forever in your debt. On second thought, maybe I'd just thank you a couple three times.

I did some searching this morning and found this site <http://www.daniels-auto-fashions.com/>.

Looks like they have some pretty nice floor mat options, including several different Impala embroidery options. If anyone takes the plunge, be sure to let us know!

  • Thanks! They carry the Lloyd mats, which are said to be the best by a number of people that I've spoken to. I've been searching for them. They also have a large selection of Chevy and Impala logos.

I am forever in your debt. I will let you know how they are, as soon as they arrive. They are a little pricey. But, I just want the darn things already, and I'm tired of looking.

    Thanks again!
  • bh0001bh0001 Member Posts: 340
Forever in my debt??? Hmmm - a set of 4 nice grey mats with the embroidered Impala logo in navy blue should just about do it ;-)
  • How about a JPG of them, instead? Plus, next time I'm up in the Great White North, I'll be happy to buy you a pint or two of Labatt.
I'm getting the grey carpet with medium blue embroidery . Fronts with the flying impala AND stylized Impala logo text, and the rear with flying impala only. (Or, should I get the text only in the rear? Plain is not an option.)
  • bh0001bh0001 Member Posts: 340
The JPGs will do just fine. I really like your idea of getting both "logos" on the front mats. I'd go with the flying Impala on the rears. I absolutely LOVE that logo.

BTW, has anyone found a good online source for NICE Impala keychains? I'd like a nice metal "flying" Impala logo.

I geuss they are OK? They are a light grey with the word IMPALA running along the door side of the mat towards the Dashboard in a dark charcoal color, I don't mind the Carpeted ones, Matter of fact I like them, I certianly would not want any "SHAG" carpeted ones if that is what you expect from a good carpeted mat, I would think they would be like the carpet that came in my dads 1978 Mercury Marquis, Crumbs would get lost forever in that..Like 50 Ounce Pile or something? YUK!! What were they thinking in the 70's? Ever see an episode of Mary Tyler Moore Show from say 1975 when they show her apartment? The SHAG carpet looks as high as my lawn when I neglect to cut for a week and a 1/2, and that was COOL back then!??? If I had a choice of the Crappy OEM or the Logo ones, I would choose the LOGO with out a Blem of course, When you send it back, They will just grind it up and it will be the OEM carpeting in some new 2002 Cavailer! Carpeting does Suck anymore, Just look inside a Taurus/Sable.. DW

I took your photo and superimposed it on a photo of my car:

    image

Looks like it came out a little dark...

  • Shag carpet AND shag haircuts! The 70's were pretty tasteless in many ways. Remember avacado green and harvest gold appliances?

For my mats, I just want plush, high density carpeting. Not shag. Similar to living room carpet. I rarely eat in the car, and vacuum regularly, so I'm not concerned with crumbs.
I guess you haven't seen the newer plush mats that are out there. They're not your father's Oldsmobile...mats. ;-)
  • roderacerroderacer Member Posts: 311
    Sweet!

Pretty cool stuff, man. They do look a little dark and from the pic; I think I change my mind about them. The Impala has such a distinguished look, it is difficult for me to match aftermarket wheels that will complement the beatiful lines of our cars...

When I get my pics developed, I guess I'll have to play around with it to get the perfect combo.

Say, where was that pic taken? It must be tough living in HI, huh? :)

    Take care.

I knew what you were talking about, I was just poking some fun at old carpeting! It just seems that new Full size cars have the same carpeting that el cheapo Econo box cars had 20 years ago. Ditto for the Mats. :+) Don
  • Talk about old econo-box carpeting: My father bought a brand new Chevy Nova back in '73. He was shocked upon delivery to find out it had no carpeting! It was an option that the salesman neglected to mention.
He went back to Oldsmobiles after that. It wasn't just the lack of carpeting. That Nova was a real dog.

Has anyone seen an Impala 00-01 with the pop-in vent visors?

I would like to see what it would look like before I spend $80 on them.

I have been meaning to drive the car around the island and take photos, but never got around to it. I might do it during the winter swell when the waves reach 10-15 ft (20-30 foot face).
  • night_owl1night_owl1 Member Posts: 760
Isn't it on the front page of the Impala Accessories brochure? A photo is on the GM accessories site. Here is a link to the photo.

I think he was talking about the non-sticky visors you can get from NAISSO (B-Body Impala Fan Group). I got the OEM ones, and LOVE THEM. The stick-em adhesive didnt' bother me, and they work like a charm!

Here's a pic of the car with 'em. I'd take some more but the wife has the Impala and I got the Tracker today!:>

Thanks for the pic - I will definitely be getting the Borla system soon.

Are you still pleased with the sound since you've had a couple weeks to listen to it in various situations?

    Dave
  • wwnfwwnf Member Posts: 40
Do the vent visors block your view to your mirrors?

Do they make any noise from air flowing over them at higher speeds?

    sorry, I'm picky.

    Thanks
  • bbrowne74bbrowne74 Member Posts: 58
None of the above. They are very un-noticeable int eh car w/ the windows up to be honest. No problems w/mirrors or noise.
  • Just installed the factory splash guards, front and rear on my '01 LS. Thanks to Nathan's web site, http://home.hawaii.rr.com/impala/Rear_splash_guard.html , I new what to expect. I just used a carpet knife to cut away the offending hump.

Chuck Hutton said they couldn't get the rears because GM discontinued them until they could redesign them to fit all current Impalas. So, I got them from partszoneonline.com, instead, for $22 per pair, plus shipping.

The whole process was a piece of cake and easy as pie. Took about 20 minutes per pair.

Joe, here's my 2 cents. Just installed the WeatherTechs from McNeil. These do NOT use tape. They simply slip into the window channel. They are custom made in Germany. RIght now they only have the front windows in stock, rears expected in Sept. No wind noise. Much cleaner look then the tape ons. After a few years & multiple washings the tape-ons will start to peel, especially in the PA heat. It took less than 5 mins. to install each side. I have had their products on 3 different vehicles now and can honestly say they hold up great.

I personally think the sound is great.I've had the exhaust on my car for nearly six months...just wish I had enough dough to do every think I want to the car.

Could you please e-mail me privately (e-mail is in my profile)? I have a question regarding the Lloyds mats.

    Thanks!

hogboy: I too install the WeatherTech version of the Vent Visor. I ran them for years on my old Lumina. I was however dissappointed with their 2000 Impala version.

Not only were they too long and caused the teathers to crack and break, but the window always rubbed the unit when going up.

I was browsing through some GM Performance products and came across a link to Direct Hits.

They got an updrade sparkplug kit for the Impala LS. http://www.directhits.com/home_noflash.shtml Do you guys think that this $209 upgrade kit will be worth it?

    Hey,
I was thinking of getting the Borla exhaust, whats the difference in horsepower/torque? Can you feel the added power at all?
  • wyoimpwyoimp Member Posts: 87
Looks like Snake Oil to me. You probably can buy better than OEM quality Spark Plugs and Wires for much less. Also the non rsistor plugs will probably cause interference with your radio. If you're only driving stock - save the money. If looking for high performance go with a name brand - Summit Racing, Mallory, Accel, MSD, Bosch Platinum, etc.
  • impalafreakimpalafreak Member Posts: 14
There is only a slight difference in power...I would guess around 5-8hp at most...you would have to add headers,hi-flow cat and cold air intake to get any real gain in power. The best thing about the exhaust is the way it looks.
  • jerseyimpalajerseyimpala Member Posts: 12
    it does look hot though!

rideAnyone heard of this? I had some buddies that do body and custom work. A truck they were working on had the Air Ride setup. Sweet!

Drop the thing a couple inches from the ground!

It is said to make the ride more comfy and allow for more fine tuning of the suspension.

If I had the $$$, I'd think about it for the LS!

My Nokia hands free holder plugs directly into the powerpoint (Console Cigarrette lighter) and has a speaker phone. Not bad but tends to be noise at times.

    Really like your 200KM/H speedo...
  • bh0001bh0001 Member Posts: 340
You've got amazing eyesight to pick up 200kph from that picture . BTW, it's only been up to about 170 max :-0

I didn't mention that the microphone is located at the top of the driver's A(?) pillar (no wires visible) and the speaker is nicely hidden behind the console down by the gas pedal. Sound quality is excellent.

It was definitely the high-cost way to go, but I figured since I'm keeping the car for 5+ years it would be worth dropping the extra few hundred $$.
    Brad
  • If you're gonna spend a few hunnerd $$$ (or is that kilodollars?), you can buy cell phone airtime for your OnStar, instead.
  • teoteo Member Posts: 2,508
I was thinking the same thing; however, OnStar's personal calling is not yet available here in Florida. Still, I need the flexibility of a cellular phone when I am out of the car but I could split it evenly. Some 'Units' for OnStar and a cheaper cellular service plan.
  • bh0001bh0001 Member Posts: 340
Yes...if I had OnStar! I was able to configure my Impala without it, since I didn't want it. (although I do agree some of the features are pretty cool!)
    Brad
  • teoteo Member Posts: 2,508
OnStar is optional on Impala LS' sold in Canada. It is standard equipment on Impala LS' sold in the US....hmmmmmmm
  • impalaboy2001impalaboy2001 Member Posts: 117
I'm from Fort Walton Beach, Florida and I got my Onstar personal Calling working, the service just started about 2-3 weeks ago, I didn't receive any info in the mail, I was just calling onstar every week until they told me it was available.
    Chris
  • teoteo Member Posts: 2,508
We don't have the service in the Miami metro area yet. I will keep calling them back to check on it.

Since you already have signed up for it, could you give me the scoop on the service, cost per minute of calling units and so forth?
  • impalafreakimpalafreak Member Posts: 14
Just read that GM is still working on SS Impala...345hp ouch!!!!! The only bad thing is, the car is probably going to be fwd.
