There is a difference between 'down payment' and 'due at signing' for a lease. You are responsible for the bank fee, dealer fee, first payment and any tags or license costs when you start a lease. Down payment reduces the cap cost, but isn't something we recommend doing - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

At some point, do we really care if the dealer moves the money around and gets some extra cash in their pocket if I wind up at the monthly price I want and don't pay more upfront than I want? Just wondering how far should I push this. After all, I do want a good relationship with these guys going forward.

My guess is that some of that up front cash is going to cap cost reduction - as is, with your numbers, I get $412.56/mo before tax.

You want to make sure that you are getting the lowest selling price and that the MF isn't marked up on you (which is tough as we don't know what the base rate is).

Up front cash should be limited to bank fee, dealer fee, first payment and any tag or license costs.

Both are 58%.

In fact, the only trim levels that aren't 58% for 36/10.5 are the Black Label.

Thanks to this forum! We picked up our 2016 today. MSRP 41,505 Selling price (incl rebates): 35,258 LoJack 695 (couldn't get out of this one) 0 down (sign and drive) 382.70/mo plus tax I'm pretty happy with it! What do you guys think?
