I can't find the post now, but someone got an IRS refund check and was told the IRS pays interest if they take more than 45 days to send the refund? Is that the correct interpretation for the rule?
I do believe as a general rule it is 45 days from the date it is due (usually April 15) or the date they receive the return. So mind you if you file January 30th that have to the end of May to get you your refund. If you mail in your return and they mail you a check the time frame is from when they receive the return to when they mail it out.

The IRS typically handles paper returns in under 6 weeks (42 days).

Now if your return is audited, pulled for a review or rejected then all bets are off.

I noticed that gasoline prices are declining, finally.  According to GasBuddy, PUL is down about 10 cents a gallon over last week.
I have also noticed that gas prices rise when I need to fill up.

How's the Passat R-Line holding up? Still liking it a lot?

The Passat R-Line is history, lasted about 5 or 6 months.

I'm afraid that I'm just not much of a car person these days. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Passat R-Line, but it was basically boring. I still think it is a better deal compared to an Accord or Camry, but in reality I just flat don't want anything like that. I kinda sorta enjoyed the 2013 Passat TDI, it was weird and funky, and I got a kick out of the ungodly fuel mileage. I never would have bought the TDI except for the expectation of the big buyout (thank you, VW!), but I did enjoy it which lead me to buying the R-Line, which was, looking back on it, a mistake.

But not a costly one. I lost less on the R-Line than what I made on the TDI (a lot less), so it's all good.

A friend of mine recently picked up a 69 Olds 4-4-2 for $4,500. It's in rough shape, but running, and he is enjoying it quite a bit. Despite working on it almost every time he drives it. (smile) Which is tempting me to do something similar. I'm looking around...

Hmmm.... my "signature" is wrong. Someone remind me of where I have to go to change that, the "vehicles owned" thing? I changed it in my profile, but that is not what shows up in your signature block.

Doc called today with blood test results and only downside is I’m anemic now but luckily my cholesterol is o k. I dodged a life ending bullet and thank G-d for not wanting me quite yet. My family seems to be happy I’m still here also!!

That's because the change is retroactive. All of my posts, going back years, will now show the current signature line anytime they are displayed. If I look at one of your posts, from 3 or 4 years ago, it will show your current signature line at the bottom of the post, not the signature line that you were using at that point in time.

That's a good thing too, because IIRC Driver's signature back then was a photo of him in that horizontally striped polo shirt, sitting on that designer toilet he likes to talk about. :D:D:D

At tennis in Florida, there is kind of an unwritten rule....Let's not talk about health issues. A few guys pop a few Advils before playing though. We don't stick to the rule completely because if someone has a serious issue we do want to know about it.

But, if you have ever been to a dinner, with 6, 8 or 10 seniors around a table, and all they talk about is their medications....it is time for me to quietly leave.

70? When I was 70, the dining room table still had all the leaves installed. I've since had to remove them. Mrs. j was almost getting me on the straight-always. My only hope was to get away from her in the turns. It worked pretty well until recently. Not really sure what my next move will be. Maybe a lip zipper. :'(

    Anyway, happy upcoming birthday.

On the other hand, people can learn from the experiences of others. So I am interested in learning what is happening in their lives, whether it's tennis, car shopping, or poor health. And I say power to them hoping they make it through.

And hopefully the support people read here helps them. It all seems like a family. A few days had me worried recently, but we make it through.

From the tone of your posts, ab, it is obvious you are healing well.  So happy for you!

I know driver doesn’t want to hear this, but I had one of those Foley’s inserted when I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago.  Not pleasant.  The scariest aspect of that process was when the doctor told me he was removing it, he said if I didn’t “go” naturally within 8 hours he left orders to have it put in again.  Needless to say, that was a scary thought.

About 5 hours after “its” removal, I “went” and started to cheer so loud that the nurses filed in wondering if I was in trouble.  I merely held up my “deposit” in the urinal as evidence and they all broke out laughing.  That was my one condition holding up my discharge and left the hospital an hour later.  :D

Back in 2008, I had a total knee replacement. One of the more minor points was a catheter – I say that advisedly, as compared to having your leg sawed in half and glued back together. So on day 2 or 3 they remove the catheter. Interesting experience, which I hope fervently to never repeat. I knew I was in trouble when they kept telling me, “We’re going to remove your catheter tomorrow / in a few hours / this afternoon, don’t worry, it won’t hurt.”

When they tell you repeatedly it won’t hurt, you know you’re in trouble.

So finally they remove the thing, and the nurses tell me exactly what they told Mike – 8 hours with no action, and it goes back in again. You know how it is in a hospital, people wonder in and out all the time, making it a little hard to obtain privacy to do your thing. Finally I got a quiet moment, rolled up on my side away from the door, put the jug in place, and started concentrating.

Along comes a nurses aide, sneaks up behind me, looks over my side and asks, “Are you sure it’s in?” I wasn’t expecting it, so I jumped, and then her words hit me. There’s a very old dirty joke, along the lines of, “What’s the worst thing a woman can say to a man?” And the punch line is right up above in this paragraph. So first I jump at the unexpected voice, then the words register, and I crack up laughing, everything turns loose, and you can guess the rest.

The joke was on the nurse’s aide, she got to clean up the spill.

    Marco. Thanks. Found it.

I like that T Bird. Cream paint. It looks good and sounds good. I recall when those were new and I was in college. I was driving an old Ford and those were so futuristic. I loved them.

There is a similar year in dark brown that I saw. I will post a picture of it soon.

Enjoying the last of my Glenorangie.  I really enjoyed that.  If I get the chance and I can find it, I am going to restock that single malt scotch.  Couldn’t wait for you ab.

Funny you mention that. I am having a Laphroaig Triple Wood as I write this.
Gosh, I remember those days. B)

Ab, also had that done last month and so glad when they took it out! I hated being in the hospital and 15 days was just way too long!! So glad I’m feeling better. Doc called today with blood test results and only downside is I’m anemic now but luckily my cholesterol is o k. I dodged a life ending bullet and thank G-d for not wanting me quite yet. My family seems to be happy I’m still here also!! The Sandman :)B)
You know how we aren't supposed to talk about politics? How about a rule about medical procedures....I am going to pass out if I hear about this much more.
Aren't us old cogers supposed to talk about our health issues?
At tennis in Florida, there is kind of an unwritten rule....Let's not talk about health issues. A few guys pop a few Advils before playing though. We don't stick to the rule completely because if someone has a serious issue we do want to know about it. But, if you have ever been to a dinner, with 6, 8 or 10 seniors around a table, and all they talk about is their medications....it is time for me to quietly leave.
    Must be jealousy driver!
      :D
Ah, no, believe me, I don't want to be #1 in bragging about how many medications or how many surgeries I have had....I'll concede victories to you guys.
I entered the donut hole last month.  I paid $975 for my Rx drugs.  I have to spend another $2800 before I am in stage 3 - catastrophic.  Then most Rx’s are $3.30.  Thank God I have income to support those costs.

That’s what they call it with Medicare Part D - Drugs.  When a Medicare recipient exhausts his Part D benefits, you enter a donut hole where almost nothing is covered for drugs.  After spending out of pocket another $3000+, you then enter catastrophic coverage.  They really should call it a “tunnel”!

I had to look up this info.

The chart shows that 44% or 35% of drug costs is paid by the Medicare system from the premiums and subsidy. The option of drug coverage was implemented by Pres Bush in 2006. Due to drug companies being exempted from control of costs, many drugs are much more expensive for us older folks than they should be, as in the prices for same in other countries. Persons buying the drugs via internet et al was kept illegal in healthcare changes just a few years back due to lobbying by pharma. I used to get advertisements by mail for out-of-country, including Canada IIRC, pharmacies for drug purchases--much cheaper than US prices.) I think AARP sold my name/address even though I wasn't a member. They do anything for money, LOL.

I recently learned that hearing aids are tightly controlled for the same kind of reasons. Big lobbying money.

    "Donut Hole" $2,700–$7,508.75 44% (Generics), 35% (Brands) 56% (Generics), 65% (Brands)

I'm continually trying to lose weight or not to gain any more. The word "donut" makes my mouth water when I recall how delicious the varieties are. I avoid the Tim Hortons in our area.

Then at my morning coffee and quick market (UDF) I see someone getting the "fresh" donuts out of the case where they're delivered overnight,The chap should be walking a mile instead of adding a donut (or 3) to his morning coffee, and I tell myself "No." I think 1 donut is free with the 99 cent coffee refill.
