I live in Tampa, so when I go to say Atlanta, there is a constant gradual net incline and then back there is a constant gradual net uphill. The difference can be 3 or even 5 mpg, if there is also some difference in traffic, or wind.

I must be reading this wrong, but it sounds like it's uphill to Atlanta, which makes perfect sense, but coming back down doesn't correspond to . . . then back there is a gradual net uphill.

I'm sure I'm reading something wrong and need help. This is uphill both ways personified. Sounds like when I walked to school.

I'm taking my Legacy to the shop today to get the rear bumper cover replaced. My insurance company insists I use Enterprise for a rental. When I talked to Enterprise they asked what brand, model, and year my car is.

Why would they need to know that? It has no bearing on anything. I asked and the lady just said it's a question on the form she is using. I suspect it's a question my insurance company wants them to ask...at least I hope that's it.

She also said I will have to provide a credit card. Why? I'm not paying for the rental.

I might just rent one from the dealer.

I think they try to match you up with a similar car, because that is what the insurance company wants you to have.
They want your credit card in case something goes wrong with collecting from the insurance company and if for some reason there are additional charges...say you use the rental longer than they will pay for....or you damage it.

I think their requests are fair and in line.
Yeah. I agree. I rarely rent a car and it seemed more complicated than the last time I did it.

I ended up with a Murano. Actually, for an SUV, it's pretty nice. It has all the doo-das and gee-haws.

I'll be glad when the Legacy is finished.
I guess I missed the reason you had to have the bumper cover replaced. Can you please say why one more time.

Thanks, a fellow PA tax payer.

I didn't say, but since you asked.

I backed into a mail truck. He has a few hundred feet where he can park and he parks right across from my driveway. He tricked me this time. He parked about 20 feet upgrade so I couldn't see him in the mirror.
Ouch! Just the bumper cover and tail light or was there other problems too? My bumper cover cost $2500.

Well, today my neighbor plowed into my Encore just as I was pulling into my condo complex and rounding the curve. She never saw me — until she hit me. She is a very sweet lady and is quite mortified, so I can’t be too mad at her. The speeds were low, but, wow, my drivers side door looks pretty stoved in. I can open it but it won’t close all the way. It may take a couple of days for her insurance folks to assess the damage. It quite a feeling to suddenly realize that the oncoming person a) is in your part of the roadway b) doesn’t see you and c) is going to hit you RIGHT NOW and there’s nothing you can do about it. Just yesterday I noticed that we had bought the Encore exactly 4 years ago — nary a scratch till now.

Sorry to hear about your crunch....that can happen so easily, people get a little careless when driving in their complex....they assume no one else could possibly driving the other way at the same time.

Venture's backing up incident reminds me that one time I backed into a snow bank with my 2013 Fusion,
It had rear camera and backup sensors and they were clanging away, but I thought it was the wrong side.
My current one has them too, but it has an additional graphic the shows you which side is closest.

Sorry about your car suydam. Hopefully its towed to a body shop and you can get a rental there.

Aba - toilets have improved a lot from just a few years back, so maybe you should just replace the relic. Mold is too much of a risk where you live to hassle with the old one again.

Our “new” ones’ were installed 9 years ago during a remodeling (post financial crash). The plumber subsequently mentioned to flush the toilets @ least twice. Newer valves use less water. Less water not being good for get “stuff” down drains.

I agree, but it is up to my service company to make its determination first.  If the toilet needs to be replaced, they are supposed to replace it.  If it’s just a matter of a seal, they will replace the seal and then test its integrity..

I believe if I just want the toilet replaced, they will do it but I will have to pay for the toilet, but not the labor.

When I bought this house, in 2011, I replaced both toilets. The old ones were circa 2005, so only 6 years old, but I wanted the taller models. Much easier on my old knees.

I had turned off the back-up sensors to get out of the garage without the brakes slamming on, otherwise I would have been warned.

I did something similar when I had my Fusion. I was backing in to a parking spot at a baseball game and the sensors were beeping away and were turned all red. I was against an F-150 and just pushing away...lol. No damage to either vehicle for some reason. I waited after the game for the guy driving the truck.

When I was dating my soon to be wife, her brother visited her in her new apartment that had the then newly introduced 1.6 gallon flush toilets. He flushed the toilet, it clogged and water and poop ran over. Yuck. He quickly said to flush “big job first”, “paperwork second.” Two flushes. Lol, yet no issues since!

Nothing worse than hitting your neighbor as opposed to a stranger you won’t see again after you exchange insurance info. I know, because I did it myself many years ago. Had all 3 kids in the van, and youngest kept yelling! Drove me nuts and I told her to shut up. Next thing I know BAM! I’ve backed right into my neighbors car as they were passing by. Sorry about your car suydam. Hopefully its towed to a body shop and you can get a rental there.

Aba - toilets have improved a lot from just a few years back, so maybe you should just replace the relic. Mold is too much of a risk where you live to hassle with the old one again.

The smaller capacity flushes were mandated by gov. to save water. Instead it led to more water usage because people had to flush 2 or 3 times instead of once.

She contacted her insurance as mine told me to go through hers. They’ll send an adjuster out in the next day or so. She is a friend of mine so she is mortified. My youngest said, “That’s what I was trying to tell you.” !!! Ah, life keeps us humble.

Reminds me of the time I went over to clean a neighbors driveway after a big snow while they were out of town. It was around Christmas, he had some Christmas light wiring under the snow which I immediately sucked into the snow blower. As I was getting it all untangled, my wife, who was watching from our porch started yelling unplug it, unplug it, you are going to get electrocuted. I told her to stop yelling it was a gas snow blower. She yelled back, unplug the Christmas lights ! Oh, I said.
