I have been a RockAuto customer for the last 10 years or more. And I have never had a real problem. Now that I'm big into Prime (free shipping), I will sometimes go through RockAuto to get an exact part number, and then search for that part number on Amazon.
Sometimes I can't find the same part on Amazon, or I can't find it with Prime shipping, and even occasionally the bottom line comes out cheaper on RockAuto. Comparison shopping on the internet is wonderful, how the h___ did we ever survive before the internet?

Remember the 5% discount easily available on rockauto.com as a frequent customer or as a member of groups. That usually covers the shipping.

Depends on what you're buying, and how heavy those parts are. I am amazed at free Prime 2 day shipping on brake rotors, for instance. If you're buying spark plugs, shipping is no big deal.
This is about the 5th time lately that you provide links that I can't open. Anyone else having a problem with @driver100's links? Maybe this guy is a non dues paying impostor.

Probably could be done....but, if something could go wrong it will if I attempt it. Better to let the experts do this one...I want this car to last. If well cared for it should last 10 more years easily with this mileage....don't want to gamble considering my DIY skills.
Yeah, we wouldn’t want to read about another crooked air filter causing mayhem on the road.

I'll take your word for it that they are good. btw ab, do they ship to Canada without having to pay customs?
They use one of those services that bundles them into the shipping, so you see the amount before you place the order. I find it is always quite reasonable.
Brake fluid is overdue if not done yet. Trans fluid, that likely never gets flagged but many people with them, including me, do it anyway every 30k.
I thought transmission fluid lasted basically forever or at least for 100000 miles. Just looked up...basically 60k to 100k, no harm doing it sooner.
Brake fluid is every 4 or 5 years for most cars.....this car is 4 years old now......though low miles.....18k miles. You would think that should mean a cabin filter could last another year or two.....isn't the life based on time but also amount of time in the car?
My rule of thumb is 50k miles for fluid/filter change. Exceptions would be DCG or CVT at 30k.

California regulator threatens ban on gasoline engines
WASHINGTON -- California's top environmental regulator is threatening to enact tougher pollution rules that could include a ban on vehicles that burn petroleum-based fuels in retaliation for the Trump administration’s plan to relax vehicle emission standards.
The move -- which would be a first in the U.S. -- marks an escalation in the clash between Washington and Sacramento that would increase uncertainty for carmakers in the nation’s biggest auto market.
California has already gone to court to fight the Trump administration’s determination that current vehicle emission and fuel economy standards are too stringent. Now, California Air Resources Board Chairman Mary Nichols is arguing that the state will match any relaxation of federal auto rules with its own more stringent anti-pollution requirements on everything from fuel to the refineries producing it.
“CARB will be exploring ways to ensure communities get the reductions of air pollution they so desperately need to keep the air clean and breathable -- and continue to fight climate change,” Nichols said in draft remarks prepared for an event Thursday.
“That might mean, for example, tougher requirements for low-carbon fuels, looking at tighter health-protective regulations on California refineries, doubling down on our enforcement efforts on mobile and stationary sources -- and might lead to an outright ban on internal combustion engines.”
Leave it to California to threaten the well being of their citizens for a political fit of pique.

I have to go to my MB service department to replace my air freshener which is in the glove compartment. There are 3-4 different scents available and they cost a fortune. I believe they are $100+ per jar of liquid. The amount of air freshener scent added/sprayed into the ventilation system is controlled by selecting the ventilation option screen and selecting one of three different settings.
I usually set it at the “low” setting but it does freshen the air in the car. This air freshener system came with one of the package options - I certainly would not order that system if I had a choice. But, it is what it is!

When I first read this, I thought it was in jest, like the Onion. Now, I'm not so sure
It's clear that you exist in a very different space than I. You're welcome to it.
Like I said in a previous post I used Rockauto but it didn't work for me but they were very quick to try to correct their error and I wasn't charged a penny, you can't ask for more than that. I think they wanted something less than 15 bucks for wipers, where the dealer wanted close to 40. I don't put much faith in reviews because I think people are much more inclined to complain as opposed to giving praise.
I'll probably try them again if I can think far enough ahead about what I want. If they screw up that order too then I'm out for good. However, my son has used them quite a bit with no problems at all.

Mike, I've heard you mention this before so I wasn't shocked this time but that has to be the most ridiculous option I've ever heard about on a car. What happens if you don't replace this bottle of fragrance? I hope you're not punished by the system giving your car the smell of a locker room after a loss. I'll bet Rockauto has that stuff for a lot less. Im sure someone in here will post the link for it. It'll be a cold day in Hawaii before I spent a hundred bucks for a bottle of that potion.

Speaking of @Abacomike... I had an experience at the upscale grocery today. There's tight spot between the entrance speciality bakery and coffee bar on the other side and the main store. An elderly blocked the way with a cart standing and talking to a younger woman. Twice I said, "Excuse me." Finally she heard. Then she said I was the most polite young man. TWice. My mother must have trained me well. That was 55 years ago, folks.
Then she and the lady to whom she was talking wander over to the deli where I was ordering our favorite items dished out. She kept bumping me as she talked to the worker. Then she said that I kept bumping into her. Twice.
I just ignored it. She was not carrying an umbrella but she was in need of a scent system from Mike's MB to cover up the aggressive sharp body odor.
I decided she had some form of aging dementia when she did the statement I was so polite. Weird.
Are some MB owners this disconnected from the real world? How about rolling the windows down for fresh air.
I feel a much better use for that stuff would be for restrooms. If folks are so socially conscious about smells there are much better uses for that high tech potion.

Mike, you know how many cases of little Christmas trees to hang from the mirror you can buy for $100?
I really think MB in particular has gone off the deep end on gadgets and gizmos that you really don't need.
Some people pay way more than $100 for perfumes. If you drive an S Class you may want the smell of caviar, truffles, old baseball glove, gasoline, Corinthian leather, or a very expensive perfume; DKNY Golden Delicious Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle – $1 million. Clive Christian No. 1 Imperial Majesty Perfume – $12,721.89 per ounce. Baccarat Les Larmes Sacrees de Thebes – $6,800 per ounce $12000 an ounce perfume may not be part of our world, but for some people $100 a pop isn't very expensive.
Are some MB owners this disconnected from the real world? How about rolling the windows down for fresh air.
You're just envious you can't have any of these fragrances: Freeside Mood – "an unobtrusive but present citrus scent, very rounded, without any rough edges"; Sports Mood – "a very pleasantly natural scent with a freshness emanating from green tones of young pale-green leaves and rounded off by light flowery nuances"; Nightlife Mood – "the scent of a heavy leather armchair in front of a fire in a room lined with dark wood, a glass of cognac on a small table (mild fruity tones) and a cigar"; and Downtown Mood – "transparent floweriness with a subtle metal effect, pleasantly sexy thanks to warm musk tones, and the most feminine of the scents with a hint of powdery, sensual tones"
I actually thought people were getting away from the phony small of scents. At our tennis bubble there is a sign that says please don't wear any scents..........maybe they mean sweat. We had one guy who would play, and then he must have poured some kind of cologne stuff all over him....enough to make you gag.

Myself, I don’t like artificial scent fresheners. The car wash we go to always asks which scent we’d like them to spray the interior with after they clean it. We always say “nothing”. The smell of a clean car is just right for me.
That me-first video was just bizarre. She just passed the white car so she had to be aware of it. Although it did look as if the driver of the white car decided to initiate the second collision after being hit.
I thought @oldfarmer50 's Russian dashcam video was astounding. Looks like lots of wrecks happen there as a result of trying to escape from the Mob, lots of vodka, and general lunacy. Does car insurance even exist there? I can't see how.
Both at fault. The cammer knew (he had time to honk) the other car was signaling a turn but accelerated when he could have braked. The car in front made a last minute aggressive turn although she did signal. As I always told the young people who I taught to drive, it doesn’t matter if you had the right of way when your car is wrecked. In that video I would think the turning car would have gotten the ticket but she was not entirely at fault.
If you watch any of those dash cam crash compilations you’ll see a lot of those crashes could have been avoided.

I have my Malibu in perfect scent balance. I use the same on my son's Cruze. When he picks it up at the airport, he's always greeted by a fresh smell of his leather seats and it lasts.
Thanks to @roadburner a few years back. I asked him what the car prep guys used for scent in their cars they prepared for resale. He said it was a mixture and the guy had his own recipe that he didn't share.
I read around and found some folks like a mix of two scents from The Chemical Guys. There's a new car spray and a leather spray that kills bad odors and leaves a mild but lasting scent. It's perfect. It is not hundreds or thousands of dollars a dram. It's not conspicuous consumption from the 70s.
I think both bottles were total $15 from chemicalguys.com, ebay, or amazoom.
If you watch any of those dash cam crash compilations you’ll see a lot of those crashes could have been avoided.
Could have been avoided if the Honda driver hadn't felt that as soon as the turn signal goes on she has the right to cut over into the lane even when there's not room. She should have slowed down and merged BEHIND the car with the camera.
I get really tired of the drivers who want to get ahead and then cut into my assured clear following distance from the car ahead of me. They think as soon as their turn signal is on then have a right to move over and that assumes that that everyone else has to have seen their turn signal from the first flash on.
I anticpate some of these and accelerate some for a period to make it less inviting to cut over.
cammer rammed the other car. I feel it was blatant. Why would you be going that fast approaching an intersection with a red light, car stopped in middle lane, if you weren't trying to block the idiot who was obviously going to cut over?

Scents are a very polarizing thing. I don't like scents in my vehicle because whenever I encounter them on other cars I figure they are trying to cover up something that shouldn't have been there in the first place. Since I keep my car interior clean and don't eat, drink, smoke, have dogs, etc in there, I have zero use for them.
Side story: when I was working we opened our first large and posh new store around 2005. We had a madman in charge of marketing then and budgets seemed unlimited so he went all in on the amenities, including scent machines. There were three of them scattered throughout the store as I recall, hidden up near the ceiling, Each of them produced a different scent that he said were designed to make customers feel at one with their surroundings and somehow make them buy more readily. One was a leathery scent, one was tropical coconut/pina colada, and I cannot quite recall the third one, but it might have been some sort of oaky/cedar thing. I could never detect the other two all that much but hated the tropical one which always seemed way too strong. Turned out staff hated them too along with a large segment of the customer base. It seemed a foolhardy thing to do anyway given how many places were scent-free by then but this guy was a bull in a china shop and kept them around for far too long. I presume they got tossed a few years later. God knows how much money he wasted on them.
