Don't forget the car is going to be driven by a young person.
As a former driving instructor, I would think you would have factored that into your calculations.

Took the Fusion in for service yesterday, oil change tire rotation cabin air filter replacement.
On the way home after that, it just felt different, handling-wise.
When I got home I looked at the tire pressures and the backs were 2 lbs higher than the fronts.
Left it home and checked the pressures today.
They were pretty even, so I guess the tires just have to get used to where they are on the car now.
I did even them all up to a pound higher, but not sure if I will leave them there.

Our 3 MBs have different pressure in the front and back.....and different size tires too.

QB, I'd try really hard to find someone to remove the trailer asap....guy could change his mind or something.....

So you have your new Corolla for a month and it get totaled.
You took out at least a 5 year loan. How does that work out?
Plus even a 10 year old Milan will do better in a heavy collision than a new Corolla.

I would never buy a new car for a young driver. One of mine totaled his car within 3 weeks of getting his license! Fortunately it was a clunker he had bought with his own money.

The whole trailer thing has taken a back seat. We are in the hospital beside my mother’s deathbed. Today would have been my parents’ 50th anniversary. Wow.

It's the "or something" part that makes life difficult and is not always easy to predict. I mean some situations might appear tense but still seems peaceful enough. And then, "Hey that's my chair!"

Hoping for the best, but sometimes when it rains it pours.
My mom passed in my car when we were on the way to the grocery store, as we did every Sunday.

a) You can't plan for the worse possible catastrophe. Do you buy cheap cars in case yours is totaled.
b) You can buy full replacement value insurance on a car that is up to 3 or 5 years depending on insurance company - costs less than $100.
c) If you lease with no money down....you don't lose at all apparently
d) I think you are safer in the Corolla...passes all the latest crash tests and has more safety features.

I prefer a mid size vehicle for a new driver. How do you think you would have fared in your accident with the refuse truck if you were in a Corolla?
I drove a small car for a 4 years. People in larger vehicles were always trying to intimidate you.
Moved up to a mid size and a lot of that went away.

Generally, the more metal around you the safer the car will be. Although, some newer cars have more safety features than some larger older cars. I would prefer to buy a kid as safe a vehicle as possible.....but, sometimes there are trade-offs and other considerations...like money.
We can only do what we can do. I'd like to drive a tank for extra protection....or an S Series would be safer than an E....have to weigh it all and make the best possible choice.

On a more cheerful note. I went to the Encore Boston Hotel & Casino for the first time: with my wife, son-in-law and my 18-year old granddaughter. We went for the brunch, one of about 15 dining choices, but not to gamble. One small problem though, they do not allow those under 21 to enter the casino floor and my granddaughter was looking forward to the brunch. Bummer! But wait,

So, we just strolled in confidently as two couples. Don't know if they were too hungry for the money but no one asked us to show our ID. It is true that my granddaughter looks grown up, but I think they were looking at me as a sugar daddy and not wanting to embarrass me they dispensed with checking ID's.

What can I say about the food?

It was expensive, varied, plentiful, looked great but tasted ordinary. For $50 I expected tastier dishes, but my granddaughter did not complain. She especially liked the 18-inch snow crab legs, tomahawk steaks and the assorted pastries and deserts. Her father did not complain either. He probably made ten trips to the buffet. Wow, that guy can eat.

For those driving to the Encore the traffic is brutal. I advise taking the ferry or Uber. But if you must drive parking is adequate but expensive. If you are lucky enough to drive an EV, electric charging is free. https://www.encorebostonharbor.com/casino

Nice to know that when the time comes you can sneak your 18 yo girlfriend in there too.

I bet if she had tried to gamble rather than just walk through things would have been different.

This is a new electric vehicle from Chinese startup Human Horizons that's called the HiPhi 1. It claims a driving range of 400 miles and has weird doors. The HiPhi 1 is slated to launch in China in 2021, and the company says it hopes to reach other global markets at some point.

Thank you everyone for your best wishes. Mom passed at 2am this morn in the hospital with her children by her side. She and my dad finally got to celebrate their 50th anniversary together, just 26 hrs late.

Ever since Texas outlawed red light cameras, it’s become a veritable free-for-all at stoplights. I’ve seen 5 cars going through AFTER the light turned to red. Normally, I see 2-3 going through every red light after it turns at high volume intersections. I know there were problems with the cameras, but I really think they solved way more problems than they created. Unless you have a squad car parked at these high volume places, people are just going to charge on through since there is no deterrent. It’s really sad that people can’t obey the law these days. What’s next? Just walking out of stores with merchandise because they didn’t want to take the time to pay? With the minuscule number of checkers in most stores, it doesn’t appear to be hard to so, unless you take something worth $100 or more with a tag on it. Even then, most employees just ignore the alarm and continue on with what they are doing across the store.


Truly, I weep for the future of society and I’m glad I’ll probably be checking out in 5-10 years.
