Considering both 2014/2015 sports. I understand that residuals are 57% for 2015's @ 12k/36mo
is this the same residual for 2014? does the residual % differ for 400a vs 401a equipment groups?

Hi, local dealer just quoted me $536/mo pretax for a 2015 sport with 400a package 36mo/12k. MSRP: $46,525; selling price: $42,750; quoted 1% APR rather than money factor. My math results in a pretax monthly of $480/mo. Is my APR conversion incorrect 1% APR/2400x100 = .00041. Residual 57%? thank you.

The residuals will vary between model years, your best bet is to lease the newest model year unless the rates and rebates make the prior year better. As a Ford dealer I can tell you the residuals do not change by package, just trim level and body, in other words the XLT would have a different residual than the Limited and the front wheel drive would have different residual than four wheel drive. Historically for Fords, the residuals are lower on the top level of trim.

can anyone please explain why is the capped cost for a XLT further below the MSRP than for the Sport. For example, 2015 explorer 400a Sport MSRP $46,500 and negotiated cap of $44,750 ($1,800 below MSRP). In contrast, 2015 XLT MSRP $42,500 and negotiated cap of $39,000 ($3,500 below MSRP). Why such as disparity between the xlt and sport? supply/demand? or do manufacturer's inflate the MSRPs of certain trims levels more than others?

It doesn't look like you added the $645 bank fee into your calculations. That's worth about $18 a month.

Probably a bit of both ...
