My local dealership in AL had three 06's in stock this past week-end. They had an EX-L in Carbon Bronze Pearl and two LX SE's in Redondo Red Pearl and Graphite Pearl. I was surprised to see them so soon. I loved the new Carbon Bronze Pearl color and the new styling. I was holding out to purchase until I saw the new 2006 models. I am really glad I waited.
At some point in your search for the best car loan, be sure to visit your own bank. If they consider you a good customer, bank financing might be the best deal........Richard
Cheap money is out there, but a lot depends on your credit rating. I keep getting car loan vouchers in the mail periodically from my credit union. The one I got today listed an APR of 2 1/2% on a five year note and was pre-approved for up to $38,000.00 - just present it the dealer after the negotiating is finished. Like the rest, it went straight into the shredder. I'm perfectly content driving my well-maintained '03.
I was at my Honda dealer yesterday to get my 05 serviced. He had one LX in silver. I like the new look on the sedan. I have the Coupe and Honda has basically taken the rear lights of the 05 coupe and put them on the sedan. There is also the change of the placement of the third brake light. I live in Tennessee and my dealer told me that dealers in this area, the Nashville area, will be at list on the 06. He said some will do the add-ons on a second sticker; then discount them which will make the price come out 300 above sticker. The cheap money with Honda is gone for the present. My salesman told me that when gas prices go up they don't offer the low interest rates because the demand is so strong. I am glad I bought an 05 in April because I don't think there is that much change in the coupe.
I purchased mine at Barry's Honda in Dartmouth. After haggling with their normal salesmen and sales managers they could not go lower than $24k. The next day I used cars.com and within 10 minutes had 6 quotes via email and telephone at much lower prices, including the internet sales department at Barry's!!! I took the lowest quote and asked the Barry's internet salesperson if they could match it, and in 5 mintes I got the response that they would match it. Sale concluded. That 15 minutes I spent on cars.com and answering a few emails saved me $1,400.
Paid $17,040 (~17,200 otd) for a LX Sedan Manual trans at Autofair Honda in NH. It was a dealer employee demo with 3100 miles on it. Warranty was extended to 39,100 miles.
We just purchased a 2005 EX-L Sedan with automatic this past Monday at Weir Canyon Honda in Anaheim Hills. Paid $21,144 including destination via internet quote. First tried to get Family Honda in Rancho Santa Margarita to match it because they are closer. They couldn't do it. Hope this helps someone, I know all the info here helped me before we bought.
Hi, I got a dealer quote for 2005 Accord LX A5 at the price of $18,400. Then he threw in window etching and seal protection for $299, which makes the drive out price $20,098. What is this stuff for? Some website says the window etching only costs $14.
Yes, window etching should cost virtually nothing. In fact your local police department may have a free program for you. Just ask.
"Seal protection" is nothing more than a totally unnecessary dealer pack, a way for them to add a few hundred bucks profit. Don't pay a dime for it. Tell them you don't need or want it.
Last weekend we test drove a new 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 Manual. What a beauty! We placed our order for a 2006 Honda Accord Automatic EX V6 with Nav in Carbon Bronze Pearl with Ivory leather interior. Accessories added on were premium floor mats, a trunk tray and wheel locks. We are purchasing this vehicle for $28,850. We expect delivery around 9/26 or so. We traded in our 2001 Honda Odyssey and also placed an order for a 2006 Honda Ridgeline at the same time. We dealt with Airport Honda in Knoxville, TN. This was a very pleasureable experience.
I hope that this helps someone with their purchase.
I just purchased, on 9/09, an 06 LX Graphite Pearl Accord Sedan. Got an instaquote via the internet and ended up paying $23,141 with Dest. included. Signed the contract yesterday, and expect to pick the car up today in NJ. I will give more info later as I have to pick up my car today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I never believe in a deal til I have driven the car off the lot. I gave a $500 deposit...I know that is a lot of money, but the sales manager refused to sign the contract unless I put more than the original $100 deposit I was planning to give. Be careful with internet quotes as they require the car to be in stock and usually the car has to be purchased within a couple of days of receiving the instant internet quote. If the car isn't in stock, I suppose it is up to the manager to decide whether or not they want to give you the same deal. I will give the car a very detailed analysis today before throwing them a nice check. If I find anything wrong, I will not give them the check til they resolve any and all issues that I am not happy with. See you later.
I'm looking to buy 2005 Accord LX 4cyl/Auto in Boston area. The lowest quote I've got is $17,960 includes destination charge. Is the price going up this month for the 2005 model compare to last month price? Anyone bought 2005 Accord LX this month in Boston area? TIA
Im looking for the accord 06 sedanEX, with 4 cyl auto leather nav msrp 27,500 includes dest. Im guessing invoice will probabaly be around 24,600 includes dest. At this time of the year do you think its possible to get this car between 1000 - 1500 under invoice. Or a general rule $1000 under invoice is good and $1500 is probably not going to happen, or is a outstanding price, that can happen with aggressive negotiating. I would imagine if my figures are correct with holdback and bonus this car cost the dealer approx $22,841. $23,300 would be a outstanding buy to shoot for. What do you think?
I think you can buy an '06 Accord for invoice or no more than $200 to $400 over invoice depending on competition in your area and your negotiating skills. I paid $238 over invoice (plus $50 doc fees, plus tax and license) for an '04 in late August, '03 which was very early in the second year of the Accord's 5 year cycle. That was a good, but not necessarily the best deal I saw when researching Edmunds at that time. Deals should certainly be that good or better now.
If your state doesn't limit "document fees" be careful--some dealers add up to $400 for these phony fees that merely raise the price of the car. In California, doc and other fees (before tax and license) are capped at about $50, and anything above that should be negotiated away in your deal.
The newest Accord has more changes from the 2003 first year than the '04 or '05, but the car is now in its 4th year of a 5 year cycle. The new Hyundai Sonata is out there, and the '07 Camry is rumored to be introduced early in 2006--just a few months from now.
So, there won't be a line forming to buy '06 Accords and deals should be good immediately IMO.
I really wanted to pay $27,500. I think I probably could have gotten the dealership I dealt with down another $500 but I really didn't feel like spending anymore time on it. The list on my car, not including destination, was $30,093. So, my 28,850 including destination was "ok". I don't think that I got a tremendous deal, and I think that they made money, but that's ok. Had the 06's been out longer or the car I wanted already been on the lot, then I think I could have done better. Please keep us posted!!!
I think Im being realistic I already have a dealer talking at $1000.00 under invoice. Im shooting for $1200 to $1400 under invoice. It will happen before christmas. I will post it when I get it .
I think the dealer is pulling your chain. He can't sell a car at that price, unless he makes it up on your trade-in. Maybe by December Honda will be giving $1500 dealer cash, in which case you will probably be able to buy at $1500 under invoice plus or minus a few hundred.
Actually I dont have a car to trade in. He just said it would be something he would consider down the road not at present. Thats what Im wondering what is a good time, before or after christmas. Im in no rush when the deal is good I will bite.
I recently e-mailed 8 dealerships in the DFW metroplex asking for a quote on a new 2005 LX 4cyl AT, no options. The lowest quote I've gotten is for $19035, which is right at invoice. Reading the posts here, it seems that the going price for an LX should be about $1000 to $1500 below invoice right now. (And yes, they were quoting me '05 prices because they always asked if I wouldn't be interested in an '06 instead.) I haven't called anyone back, but from what I understand the internet price from most dealerships is a firm "no-haggle" price. Maybe I'm wrong about this, or is Dallas just an expensive part of the country to buy a car?
I requested a quote from INTERNET DEPT in a dealeship in Las Vegas for the 06 honda accord sedan LX V-6. The quote they gave me was $23,850 including destination fee, plus $ 399 doc. fee, and $ 199 vtr fee (do you guys know what the VTR fee is?). Do you think the doc. fee is to high or is it reasonable? I would really appreaciate your opinion on this comment and prices. Thanks.
Not sure about Dallas, but I'm in the middle of nowhere Indiana (Southwestern corner). I got an Accord LX (05) AT with no options for 19,000 including destination. This was a few bucks behind invoice. From what others say it doesn't look to be that great of a deal. However, I think I did okay for two reasons: 1) they gave me $500 to $600 more than any "book" on my trade, and 2) they got me a smokin deal on the lease. A 36mo / 12k per year with a money factor of .0003 with no security deposit or other bs fees. I was also amazed that the residual was still 55% on a car that was a model year old already.
Good I have done better? Maybe, but with three kids under the age of 5 I don't really have the luxury to drive 200 miles to save $200 if you know what I mean. The local dealer has a reputation of not doing much on price (captive market) so I thought I did okay to buy local.
My suggestion would be to find the dealer with the largest number of 05s still on the lot and 06s and go down there with check book in hand for the down payment if they might want to make one of those 05s go away. Check the TMV pricing and see if the market support is still there. I think it expired on the 6th ($750 for 4cyl). They won't tell you about it, but it gives them the chance to put some extra money in the deal. I'm pretty sure that is what happened for me. They throw the money at the trade so I would think they were doing me a favor. Gotta love the dance.
Long story short...I like my Accord, I think I got a fair price, and the salesman made a few bucks which is why he's there.
Your Dallas-Fort Worth and Indiana markets sounds a lot like the Kansas City area. There are only 5 or 6 Honda dealers here and they are keeping the market here pretty controlled.. The best advertised price I have seen for a LX '05 AT is right at $19,000 with destination. Oh well maybe it will be worth more at trade-in time.
I was at a dealership y'day and he quoted me dealer fees of $800. This included 500 as doc fees and 300 as TTL. Is this High ? I always used to think that OTD price for a car should be base price + 8% (TTL) .
correction to my previous post ... tax would be additional 1500 .so i was paying $1500 as tax + 800 as fees + title + registration on the car. pls comment... i did not buy the car
Anything more than $100-200 doc fees over required fees should be negotiated away - the trick there is knowing what are required fees.
Prices dealers give are usually the price for that day - if on that day Honda's FTD incentive is not in place you can't expect anything lower than invoice. It takes a few days at the beginning of the month for Honda to line up/decide on incentives. For the 05s it depends on how many are left.
I assume the 06s won't have incentives for quite a while and dealers will not be willing to share too much of the their profit yet.
Have you tried carsdirect.com first to get a baseline no-hassle price for your area? Using a Dallas area zipcode, I saw a carsdirect price of $18,869 for Accord LX 4cyl AT. You should not pay anything more than that. Actually, if you don't mind driving a little, you can probably get a lower price from dealers in Houston. That's what I did when I bought my Accord LX 4cyl AT earlier this year. At the time, the Austin dealers were asking at least $100 above invoice. But Russell and Smith Honda in Houston gave me an internet quote that's $400 below invoice right off the bat. Since it has been 8 months, I don't know how much they are asking now. But I guess it doesn't hurt to get an internet quote. Chances are that it's even lower today.
I had better results (service and price) in Joplin than in KC. Wichita, Topeka and Manhattan are possibles too, but my preference is the dealership in Joplin.

A $500 doc fee is ridiculous. It's ALL profit because, unlike taxes and license fees, the "doc" fee isn't remitted to a government agency. It's just a way for the dealer to raise the price of the car. Negotiate that fee down to $50 and it'll be fair.
Wow, I guess we are lookin at the same vehicle. I am also looking for 06 EX/Leather/Navi with AT. The issue that I have right now is that there are no invoice prices listed anywhere yet, which is fine because I wont be able to buy before December anyway(simply not enough money yet). I am hoping that by the end of the year I will be able to get the vehicle for invoce price, which I am guessing is around 24700-25000 now. Everybody, please let me know if I am guessing right? Is that too early(December/January) to get vehicle below invoice? This would be my first Honda purchase(if I choose this vehicle - I have Mazda and Nissan Supp discount).
Edmunds is slowly adding more info on the 2006 (and they've finally dropped the "2007 future model", which turned out to be the '06). But no invoice numbers yet. But they have begun posting their TMV number.
MSRP between '05 and '06 on this particular style (I'm looking at the exact same one, BTW) went up $350. I would assume that invoice wouldn't go up more than that, so I'd guess 2006 invoice + $550 dest. to be no more than $24834 before TTL.
According to what I've read, December is an excellent time to get a car for a good price. Many people are out looking for Christmas gifts instead of cars, and dealers are trying to make year end sales targets. Too bad I can't wait, I'm out of a lease in mid-October. Good luck!
Don't know much about Dallas but I can tell you that at the end of August, in the not-so cheap area of NYC (well, within 20 miles of NYC) dealers were very willing to move the Accord LX. Factoring in a "fair trade in" (not the inflated figure which some give, and take back with $500 admin fees), my new Black LX cost about 17.8K including destination. This was with PZEV, so I believe it was 800-1000 below invoice. Another place actually offered me a different color for $100 less, but it was gone by the time I went back to them.
As someone else pointed out- you usually only get far under invoice when Honda is doling out marketing incentives to the dealer. At the time I bought my car, I think the incentive was $750 for the LX. I personally would add all of the so called dealer fees to your cost basis when determining the price, with the possible exception of state-allowed markup fees (in NY dealers can charge $40 to process the title and registration- and all of them do).
As for internet pricing- some places are extremely honest about those deals - usually that's when you deal with the name on the email. Honda of New Rochelle is one example.
Other places use that purely as trick to get you in, and then it's just like a 1980's dealership all over again. Hillside Honda- are you listening???
Good luck. Some people claim that the end of the month can be a better time to buy a car, if they are trying to meet quota.
Got a 2006 Accord EX-L AT v4 (Graphite) for 24.3k out-the-door price in Arlington VA with no trade-ins. I think got a fare deal.... please post your views/comments on this.
Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I'd like to get some thoughts on a decent price on 2006 EX V6 no navi. I've just started shopping and have recvd 2 quotes in Maryland between $25,500-26,300. How do these sound? Thanks for the help

AAA has a very good rate.

be realistic. Maybe if you get one that has been damaged in transit.

Do the CarsDirect price include fees or can the dealer still had his chunk to it?
Thanks,
