    Wow!!! I guess not.

The material used on the driver door, where the window controls are, is much to hard. After about half an hour, the side of my left leg becomes quite sore from resting against it.

Actually, the only annoying thing I have found is that the right side of the seat is overly hard because of the odd placement of the seat controls, and sometimes makes my right hip sore (usually when I am doing too much cornering!). But then, I come in right at 5'7" (saving my left leg from any constriction), but a little thicker in the middle than I would like!

At 6'7", 250, I hear you! I pretty much have to "try on" cars as well as test-drive them. Many a vehicle that I have lusted over in the past has failed the try on test. The most recent was th Toyota Prius. When I finally got to test-drive one, I discovered that every time I tried to apply the breaks, I'd throw the car from Drive to Neutral. Oh well, at least I tried to be environmentally conscious. At least the G35 beats my 2K Durango's 13 mpg!

How did your Wood Trim come out that was not Factory installed?? My dealer said he would not do it.
  • mnrep2mnrep2 Member Posts: 200
My dealer also would not add th "factory wood trim" to the G I was looking for this month. So we had to track down the exact color combo I was looking for and ended up waiting for 6 weeks. I have to admit it was worth the wait :D:D We love the car.

I've been getting used to the right side of the seat and those controls. It's sort of an additional motivation to keep my weight down. One thing I've noticed in my car, and I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems that the right side the seat is slightly lower than the left. I'm thinking it might just be a problem with the hydraulics , but I often feel like I'm leaning a little to the right.

I got my 05 Sedan Lakeshore Slate tinted today. To own this color and not have it tinted is a crime. It looks much better and it already looked great before.

I have 18,000 miles on my 2004 G35 and lately I have a noticeable hesitation or surge in
the transmission at around 40mph traveling uphill. The dealer says that the computer shows no exceptions nor could they verify on their test drive.

I just did the same with my new silver 05 sedan (picked it up last Sat, tinted it on Wed.) I went with a "35%" tint (0% being total blackout). Now to wait and see how it looks after it cures...

I just read on FA that the 06 G35 sedan will get bluetooth. A new silver exterior color will also be introduced (Liquid Platinum, currently available on the 2006 M35/45). I'm not sure if the sedan will get project-beam bi-xenon headlights like the 06 G35 coupe.

Looking hard at the 2003 and 2004 sedan with 6sp.

Are there known problems I should look out for?

Any comments on how good the traction control will be in the winter (w/ dedicated snows)? Its a shame they don't put the 6sp in the G35X.

    Thanks,
    George

Just got a passport SR7 with laser shifter installed in my new g35x. I feel soooo much safer now - 2 laser shifters in the back, two in the front, X, K, KA bands...warning light built in where the dash meets the windshield...LED control unit mounted to the right and a bit under the wheel on the side.

    Must have in my opinion.

Just got my G35 sedan! Man I am having fun. I wanted to know if after you start the car, on the Fresh Air button and Air Recirculation button, does one button always stay lit even after you push the OFF button? Mine does. Am I doing something wrong or has one of them always been on and I didn't notice it? :confuse:
  • cheerioboy26cheerioboy26 Member Posts: 412
Yes, one of the lights stays lit when the system is off.

Take yourself over to Tirerack.com, punch in the data for your particular model of interest, and read the reviews on the Blizzak tire. Then, plan to order yourself a second set of wheels for your 6sp. Why sacrifice your 6sp summer ride for the sake of all wheel drive in the winter? Let the G35X owners race the Legacy Outbacks. I prefer to race with the horses.

Could the 298HP owners please share their driving experiences on wet road conditions? How well do the Factory Installed Turanzas perform when driving under wet conditions on the highway? Not talking snow, but rather rain May through October.

    Thanks

Getting ready to 'join the club' and starting negotiations. Wanted to get the groups thoughts on what is a reasonable price to pay. Going with the 2005, since it doesn't look like there are any major changes for 2006 other than Bluetooth (so I'll save a few thousand and get that aftermarket).

What have people paid vs. invoice or MSRP and how should I expect to do against that, given that the 2006 models will be out in the next few months?

I'm looking at the G35X with premium C and navigation. I've got an internet price of $36,500 but feel I should be able to do better than that.

    Any insights are welcome.

    Thanks.
  • mnrep2mnrep2 Member Posts: 200
I paid that including wood trim and the trunk mats and mud guards. Some people have claimed much cheaper pricing. YMMV..... :shades:

You know what I do not have a G35, but I do have an FX35 and I have the same rattling sound in the same proximity as you have described. What ever happen to quality control? I heard of this irritating sound only one week into owning the car. But I now I learn to drown it out with music and ignore it completely. I know it is very frustrating.

can you provide more information? i didn't know this was a possibility. if you could give some names of equipment/providers that would be great.

I have a 2005 G35 sedan w/ 6000 miles and have been experiencing the same problems as you. In addition, I have a rattle around the clock area on the dashboard. The rattle started 1 week after I bought the car in April. I have brought the car back in 5 times to try and get it fixed. The last time I brought the car back to the dealership was a month ago - they told me that they were going to order a part for the clock/dash area. I am still waiting for them to call me back to let me know the part has arrived. One month for a dashboard part is ridiculous... :confuse:

If you search google with the terms "bluetooth aftermarket infiniti" you get many pages of hits. Some of the better ones seem to be from Seidio and Mr Genuine Handsfree.

It looks like a lot of options and the dealer tells me some of them will integrate with the g35 radio so that it turns volume down when a call comes in and caller's voice comes over the speakers. It doesn't appear, however, that you can get the caller ID and other info to pop up on the navi screen, which is what Audi's new bluetooth will do.

    Quick feed back needed:

Located in Canada, log between 40k-50k km mostly between September and April, mostly highway, mostly at night, in all conditions, can't avoid driving through 2-3 bad storms every winter. I can get either a 2005 Legacy GT Ltd(aut), 11k km through a lease take over or a 2004 G35x, 22k km, dealership loaner for basically the same acquisition cost over about 36mths. Both cars are in vg condition. Primary income comes from 2 yr contract (which will hopefully be renewed). I like both cars, find the G35x more substantial and maybe better suited for the long drives I have but with gas at $1.34/L the GT's cheaper operating costs are enticing (CAA tests GT at 10.5L/100km =26mpg; G35x at 13L/100km=22mpg) I'm looking to close by Monday 5 Sept.

    Any opinions?

I have the 2005 G35X. I find that when driving at highway speeds, opening either or both rear windows causes the wind passing the windows to catch some resonant frequency that causes a loud vibration (around 4 beats/sec) in the cabin, actually shaking the front passenger and driver seats.

To stop this noise, the front seat windows have to be opened also. Do others experience this problem? Can anything be done?
  • kdshapirokdshapiro Member Posts: 5,751
I have not driven the G35x, but here are some thoughts:

    1. Operating costs should be less on the Legacy.
    2. I would think the G35x is the clear winner in the handling dept (but are you going to drive like you're on a race track 100% of the time, if you do you'll pay for it in fuel.)
    3. The Legacy seats are very comfortable and should be great on long drives.
    4. The Legacy has less "luxury" relative to the G35x.
    5. I would rather have a newer Legacy than an older G35. (personal opinion interjected)
    6. Subaru has a great AWD system, but there is no DSC/VDC.
    7. Subarus are known to be very reliable and the moonroof is awesome.
    8. What are you subjective opinions? (looks, luxury, interior materials and room etc, stereo quality)

Those are my thoughts. Good luck!

I just bought mine yesterday and got them down to invoice. Being it was the last day of the month didn't hurt either. So know they are willing to drop that price. My G35x w/ prem C - 34,100 and splash guards, trunk mat, and all season fl mats.

Consumer Reports said the Legacy GT only averaged 18 mpg during their testing. I wouldn't assume it will be substantially better than the G35x.
  • kdshapirokdshapiro Member Posts: 5,751
It depends on the type of traffic and your driving style. My friend who has a new Legacy says the mileage in the 20's. On the other hand the few people I know who have the G average 16-18. The "x" model will be 1 gallon lower or worse.

If you're doing highway driving you can probably expect about 22 out of the G and 27 out of the Legacy. I would feel less bad though about running up extremely high mileage on the Legacy. I guarantee in the long run it will be cheaper than the G.

I have a six month old 2005 G35x and the CD in dash changer just crashed -- stuck in the eject disc mode. I was playing 6 cd's random when it just froze -- I've tried everything. Has this been a problem with other owners?

    Hi all,

My 2004 G35 sedan is due for a 15k maintenance service. How much should 15k service cost at a dealership? I am in Southern California.

Also, I heard that there's free brakepad replacement till 30,000 miles on 2004 G35 Sedan. Is this true?

    Thanks

I have also experienced the wind vibration with only the rear windows down. I thought it might be from the visor I have on the sunroof. Do you have one of those too? Otherwise, opening the sunroof a little also minimizes the vibration.

I decided to go with the GT. The lease takeover was too good and flexible of a financial deal to pass up. First I get to drive the car for a full week with the option to back out for the price of a cheap rental. Second, I get a car with less than 10k km for 15% below invoice, 20% MSRP. I'm assuming some financing risk on the residual given the great rates available right now but in the end I just could not get the infiniti dealer to budge enough on either the price for his 2004 loaner or the financing rate. There are just not enough G35x on the used/CPO market in Canada right now to give buyers any leverage - and given the number of 2005 I see on the roads in Montreal right now it won't be an issue 2.5 yrs from now when our 1997 Maxima will definitely be falling apart. After my test drives I had given a definite edge to the G35x: RWD bias, more spacious, slightly more comfortable, more edgy styling. I'll give some feedback after my week of trial with the GT.

    i own a 2004 g35x AWD
it dosent have the sport tuned suspension package, but it has everything else.
it came with the stock 15' wheels, but this was my best option since there are not that many used g35x's on the market. I really wanted the 17' chrome finished wheels, that are in all the ads, does anyone know where i can upgrade to these and what the cost would be?

second question to all the G35 owners.
    tinting
My G35 did not come tinted, as well as many other i know.
If you have a G35 and you got yours tinted, what darkness did you get? and what type? Did you get the special ceramic tint that does not interfere with the dvd navigation?
    thanks for all feedback

I had this problem, drove me nuts unitil I figured out that it was the back seat belts banging against the seats. I don't know if this is the same noise you are talking about but it sounds like it. To fix this problem I just purchased 2 shoulder pads for the rear seat belts. I found some that were pure black so it looks good and not tacky. I hope this helps. ;)

I have heard the seat belts flapping but I think this is different. It's more like a drumming sound rather than the flapping of the belts against the seat backs. It only occurs if the rear windows only are open. It's really a rare occurrence but it's strange just the same. I'm going to duplicate the sound and then try to dampen the seat belts just incase. You never know with noises. Thanks for the tip.
  • alan6alan6 Member Posts: 4
This is a drumming sound created by the wind. You just need to open one or both rear windows with the front windows closed and with the vehicle traveling at around 90km/hr. The loudness of the noise is unbearable. Opening the front windows stops the drumming noise by changing the wind flow.

I have about 4000 miles on my 2005 6 speed sedan. I have contacted Infiniti to tell them this great car deserves better tires. Tirerack.com rates tires. In terms of traction, the Turanzas are in the "Grand Touring" group, which is below the "High Performance Group, which is below the "Ultra High Performance" group, which is below the "Max Performance" group. What's worse is that the Turanzas are the lowest rated tire in about every category (including wet) in this group. My BMW (second set) tires are Goodyear Eagle GTs, which are the highest rated tires in the "Max Performance" group. I autocross my cars, so traction is very important to me. I took the G35 for its first try at autocross a couple of weeks ago. It had rained and the course was wet for the first two runs. The tires handled better than I expected. If you are looking for tire reviews from other owners, go to Tirerack.com and you can read reviews of almost any tire, provided by owners of many different cars. Oddly, the Porsche SUV comes with these same tires. They are not cheap. My 2001 special edition Mazda Miata came with these same tires and I replaced them as soon as they wore down half way.
You don't need to stay home when it rains, just be careful, but you do need to stay off snow or you will die. I have ordered a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted on 17 inch rims for winter. I've used these tires for snow on many vehicles and they make a tremendous difference. Tirerack will mount and balance them and deliver them to your driveway. I don't work for Tirerack. Good luck.

The Goodyear tires look way better too. I'm glad my 05 G35 came with them.

Have you purchased the car yet? I'm looking for the same type thing.... what else have you found? did you testdrive the AWD and just the RWD? is there a difference in how it drives? Someone told me you can get the car for just about invoice? Have you had any success?

    Thanks

I see you actually bought it.. should i wait til the end of the month?? Alos did you get the NAV? Did you get the 06 with bluetooth? that feature sounds great!

I currently own a 2004 Acura TSX - a good car, good value but a little stiff on ride, especially on my commute. I test drove the G35 2005 sedan, base model with sunroof, which local dealers are selling for about $28,500. I really enjoyed driving the G35, and I would probably only miss the Homelink from the TSX. Is the $28.5M price a good deal as we approach the model year end? I know I'll take a trade-in hit on the TSX which I'm willing to live with. I'm just wondering if the G35's price might go down even further, or just take the deal as is. I've driven the new 2006 Accord, the new Passat and even the new 325i but feel best in the G35.

    Thanks,

Got a 2005 G35x AWD and I like those double 5 spoke wheels that come on the 2WD sedan's sport suspension package. Would I be able to substitute those wheels for the original 17"s on the AWD or would that somehow have a negative effect on the AWD part of the car? I'm no engineer.
  • miamijoemiamijoe Member Posts: 4
Got my 05x for invoice. Note that when I priced around, the thing that varied the most was the infamous "doc fee"... was $100 to $599 with many in between.

    Guys,

Are you aware of anyone purchasing a new G35 sedan w/ AT for less than $28k? Do the dealers ever order base /stripped models?

I read ads where Volvo, VW, Audi and Saab have huge discounts at year end (up to $7,500 off MSRP). Maybe Infiniti doesn't have to do this type of discounting (Lexus certainly does not)? I'm in the NJ/NY/PA area.

    Thanks, John

The local Infiniti dealership, Infiniti of Huntsville (Alabama), is advertising that they are selling vehicles to the public for what their employees pay. I do not know the details of the sale other than it is for all vehicles on the lot or ones that arrive during the sale.

I had posted this on the M35 board also, but they do not stock many M35s but they do usually have a good selection of G35s.

So you may want to check them out.

Huntsville is about 100 miles south of Nashville TN, 100 miles north of Birmingham AL, and about 100 miles southwest of Chattanooga TN.

The dealership is know as Infiniti of Huntsville, but it also goes by Huntsville Autoplex (the dealership includes Lexus and Dodge).

    Anyway, happy hunting/shopping...
