What is the employee pricing deal, relative to invoice?

My kid has a good friend who can get me a PIN for employee pricing, but I'm not sure what it's worth.

Goodyear Eagles -- NCT 5. It has the sport suspension with the 18 inch rims. The car looks awesome in Black. However, I have th 280hp auto. I needed the automatic for business purposes and traffic. Albeit, there are times when I wish I had the 6 speed tranny.

Will your 6 speed bark 2nd and 3rd?

I do not know the details relative to the invoice price. The dealership is NOT "customer friendly". When I e-mailed asking for details all the dealership came back with was that it is the price the dealership employees pay and good for all cars on the lot or that arrive during the sale. He did not state details of the pricing nor when the sale would end.

As I stated in my earlier message, if you are interested, you may want to check out it out for the details. I am just providing info that someone may want to use.

It may or may not be a good deal.

Hello all... I am thinking of coming back.. had a G20 and loved it. After several years away and Trailblazer, and Tahoe, I am missing it.

I have a chance to purchase a new 04 I-35 at a pretty good discount, or an 05 G-35 for year-end savings, but wanted to ask you fine folks advice.

I feel the 04 is actually a 2 year old vehicle (even though never titled) now that the 06 models have hit, but the heavy discount sure does look good.

Any advice or direction for me as I come back? :confuse:

    Thanks,
    JB

They're really very different vehicles. The I35 is a front-drive luxury-biased car. It's very good but is more of a luxury Maxima. The I35 is a discontinued model. I'm not sure what that does to depreciation. Check on the Edmunds site for current values, this should help in deciding which is the better "deal" if that's the main deciding factor.
The G35 is a sports sedan, rear drive, slightly smaller inside but leaning heavily towards the "driver". Again, VERY different than the I35.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
I believe the I35 is based on the 1999 Maxima platform whereas the G35 was all new in early 2002 (as a 2003 model). The I35 has a solid rear axle (no IRS) and a 4 speed auto and rather sedate (i.e., bland) styling. As the other poster said, no real comparison other than the engine family and the Infiniti nameplate.

  • modifikationmodifikation Member Posts: 8
    sluri, did u buy it?
im buying and i put 8k down, on my 04' and i only pay 405 a m/o, but 450 with extended warranty and gap and tire warranty i bought it with 9k miles.
i think you doing pretty good for a lease.
i have the AWD model also. does anyone know how to get more power out of the engine like with the rwd model?
  • modifikationmodifikation Member Posts: 8
i paid 180 from la tint and got 35% all the way around. i just got the regular dyed tint becase i have the NAV and coudnt get the metallic because it interfears with that. so it was either dyed or ceramic, and the ceramic is 350!!$! screw that.
but ya, i reccommend la tint, with the 35% all the way around.
  • slurisluri Member Posts: 37
I should be getting it tomorrow night.
yeah with 9% pa tax on a lease, i don't think it is that bad at all.
i will let you know how this puppy rides then.
what extras can i ask the dealer for without being too much of wheeler and dealer?
    thanks

When i went in I got the same package as you and the salesman offered to sell the car to me 1k off the invoce. im eather going to buy the infinity g35x,lexus 330 black diamond edition or the fun but over priced BMW. =P oh yeah dealer was in Riverside, CA
  • slurisluri Member Posts: 37
    i pulled the trigger already.
not that bad at the end as i got it 500 over invoice.
the drive on this thing is amazing. i still can not believe how it hugs the road.
also i am on the east coast, i wonder if it makes a difference here for the price.
the closest i got to this deal was the same thing but from a dealer 50 miles away.

"Nissan North America have requested a 4.5L V8 to be installed in the top-of-the-line 2006 Skyline! Plans to incorporate the a 4.5L V8 rated at 350ps or even 400ps to compete with BMW and Lexus is just a dream of Nissan North America at the moment, but it could very well be a reality 2 or 3 years from now in the 2007/8 Infiniti G35 face lift model."

Looking to get into a 2005 "closeout" G35x. Local dealer has one left with nav, prem C, black/graphite/rosewood, trunk mats, and splash guards. Invoice is $35,656 and $38,980 (with $610 dest. charge). Their initial quote was $36,940 and they hinted they would go to $36,000. I am at $35,000. Thoughts?

Also, I am considering leasing with a 25k miles/year allowance (seems crazy but I don't want to own and get sick of cars quickly). 24 month lease with 66% residual, 25k/year for $652/month. Thoughts?

I was able to get that exact package in July for $36,500.00. You guys are in the ball park with each other. Depends on how bad you want the car. I would see if $35.5-$36 gets it done...

Good Luck, it is an awesome car to drive ;)

I just picked up a 06 g35x, nav and premium for invoice, 35,742. That was the sale price for the lease. Another dealer in the area was willing to do the same.

Just a note for those who are desperately looking for an 05 car with nav, dont. I know the below invoice pricing on the 05's are tempting, but there are very few 05's available. In fact i had a dealer offer 500 OVER invoice with riculous doc fees to take advantage of the 05 rarity and incentives from nissan.

Also, there are som subtle but important changes on the 06 vehicle with nav and premium. The minor one to the navi, its been updated. No its still not touch screen, but the navi screen is much much sharper over the 05 model and the menu system has been improved. The 05 navi looked very blurry to me, like when u run an lcd screen at non native res. The 06 screen is much sharper and the menu system seems much better and more responsive.

The addition of Bluetooth has been regarded by many as a very minor feature. I know i didnt give it much thought whan i was searching for an 05. Ive spent only a few hours with it and already its one of the most impressive features of the car. Its voice recognition is very powerful, not a misunderstood command yet. Its very easy to use and setup and voice quality both over the speaker and the clarity heard from the other side is very very good.

Im very glad i was unsuccessful in my search for the 05, the changes in the 06 model is very substantial as far as im concerned. Remember most mfg charge around 750 for the bt option, the fact that its included in the prem package for no more than last year's price is AWESOME.

With the DVC turned off it will bark. I've autocrossed it twice so far and results were promising. Better tires would help a lot.

I hope that I am posting this in the right forum.

I have a 2004 G35x which is still under warranty. It is due its 15,000 mile service.

In order that the warranty is not impacted does the servicing have to be done by an Infiniti dealership?
  • kki000kki000 Member Posts: 17
Another note, in the g35x, the 06 car gets 12 inch brakes, the 05 x cars had 11inchers. This only applies to the x cars, the 05 had smaller discs than the regular sedan, this year all sedans get the same size 12in discs.
  • mead1mead1 Member Posts: 8
The warranty won't cover any work (or problems resulting therefrom) done by someone not authorized by Infiniti. That being said, simply having the car serviced by that person shouldn't void the warranty altogether. Thus, if something later goes wrong with the car that is not attributable to the service, the warranty should cover it.

    FYI:

Got our first big snow in northern Michigan this week, and had a real hoot driving my 2005 G35x on the deep snow and ice.

I bought it this spring, and had wondered just how well the AWD system would work. Boy oh boy, that was the best money I ever spent on an automobile option!

After some cautious experimentation, I found that I can pretty much stomp on the gas and the car will accelerate like it's on dry pavement. It pushes me back into the seat and there's virtually no fishtail or loss of control.

The slip indicator comes on and the system responds immediately, shifting torque back, forward or side to side as needed. Amazing!

I put Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3's on just before the snow flew (see link below -- I used the same size as the OEM all seasons) which I'm sure is making a big difference as well, especially when it comes to stopping.

    Dunlop M3's

I can't recommend the car or the tires enough, what a thrill!

    :)

Sweeeetttt! I live in the South so I had no need for that option, but I'm glad it is a great option for those of you who live up north. My G was bought in the spring too, and I still love it! It handles, accelerates & looks like a dream.

Similar experience here in Chicago area. There are several points I want to make:
    1) My recently new '05 G35x is awesome in snow! Leaves my old '99 A4 1.8TQ for dead...more on that below. Had 8" of snow come down yesterday afternoon/early evening, had a party to take the kids to across town and snowplows not able to keep up...heaps of snow piles on roadways. Regular mode AWD worked fine, but car was transformed into something amazing by hitting the "SNOW" button low on the dash as the snow piled up. My wife drove it home and raved about snow abilities of this car. :)
    2) G35x handles snow better than my 99 A4 ever did I think due to the combination of AWD + traction control - the A4 lacked T/C, AWD only...maybe this has changed on current/higher end models but 99 A4 could get wild (which some people probably like). If you are shopping for AWD sedan, highly recommend checking it has AWD + T/C.
    3) Don't have snows, standard OEM tires on 17" rims and I have nothing but good things to say ...so far. But I can add that my prior winter experience of Bridgestone Potenza RE950s on A4 Quattro was lousy. Poor traction & steering control in heavy snow. Example: try turning into a drive way at low speed and simply plowing straight ahead; also made stop signs real interesting. I really think due to the directional style of tread pattern of this tire. So, if you live in the snow belt I would caution against ">anything with a directional style tread pattern, even if it says "all season".

    Hello,

I'm considering purchasing an Infiniti M30 Convertible and would like to know of any problems or issues with this model. Does anyone know why it was only made for 2 years? Also, since they're RWD, how is the pickup? Thanks.
  • mike048mike048 Member Posts: 10
I've had my M30 Convertible for 14 years now and I must say that I've had no major problems. Here is the short list of what's gone wrong. After 7 years, the windshield washer fluid tank cracked and one of the pistons to the convertible top broke (this I find is the biggest flaw -- the design of this top by ASC). After 8 years, I replaced the two back adjustable shocks due to leaking. After around ten years the pistons that hold up the rear trunk lid wore out -I never replaced them. I fixed the CD portion of the stereo twice and that's about it. It's been a great car and my daughter still drives it today. I got in it recently and couldn't believe how tight it was. I drive an 05 G35X. Oh, and the pickup is real good considering it's only 168hp. Good luck.

I'm coming up to 30K on my '04 G35X and the service adviser at my local dealer told me the cost for 30K service checkup is over $500. Can that be right? Appreciate anybody's thoughts. Thanks.

THE SNOW BUTTON ONLY KEEPS THE CAR IN FULL TIME AWD UNDER 12 MPH. ABOVE 12 MPH THE CAR REVERTS BACK TO COMPUTERIZED AWD ONLY IF THE COMPUTER SENSES THAT IT NEEDS TO MOVE FROM RWD TO AWD. So there is no reason to hit the snow button at anytime above 12 mph as it will not help you at all zerrylady

Look in your owner's manual and ask the dealer to quote exactly what the manual recommends. Most dealers add a lot of stuff beyond the manufacturer's recommendation to increase their revenue. A lot of it probably isn't needed.

Have owned 1991 M30 for past 4 years and 35k miles. Have replaced battery ($40), rear plastic window ($300), starter switch ($14), heater control (not sure exactly what part it was, but caused leak of coolant - hunted all day at Nissan/Infiniti dealers for part, but part cost only about 10 bucks). Also, just replaced front brake pads at 57,000 miles (about $110) - that's it, except for routine maintenance. Driven this wonderful car coast to coast round trip twice. Has lousy trunk space, and rods will not hold the trunk lid up - but everything works, and very reliable. Hope this helps. Pickup average to slightly above.
  • jds3jds3 Member Posts: 6
Zerrylady, sorry I don't understand your point. Who said anything about above 12 mph? In heavy snow having full-time AWD from 0 to 12 MPH is highly valuable.

Hey, thanks. Sure enough a lot of it was lubrication stuff that my local Jiffy Lube could do!
  • zerryladyzerrylady Member Posts: 13
Of course you are right. I thought you meant that if you hit the snow button over 12 miles an hour, the car would go to AWD even if the computer didn't call for it. I love the car and the AWD is great to have only when I need it. Enjoy the winter. zerrylady

    Hi All:
I'm looking at getting the '06 G35x. Has there been any reported HID thefts for this model? I currently have the problem '03 Maxima and just got mine stolen twice already.. fed up with it so i'm gonna trade/sell my car and looking for alternative or equivalent vehicles to replace it with.. I love my max but I can't worry about it wherever I leave it outside waiting...

I have owned many well-made Japanese cars. I have never once brought one to a dealer after the sale. I owned a 1999 Nissan Maxima. I put 110,000 miles on it and it never was in a dealer or a shop to have these prescibed services. In fact, the only 'maintenance' I did on the car was change the fluids, brake pads, and once did a starter. In that 110,000 miles I never had one problem(other than the starter, which by the way I had a rebuilt one put in).
I also owned a 2002 Maxima with the same story.
I now own a Honda Pilot and have 65,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil regularly, changed fluids and did the brakes. I have no problems and have saved thousands of dollars by keeping Honda's hands off it. If you own a well-made car like an Infiniti, why 'maintain' it. You realize you are just paying premium prices for nothing?! I am of the mind that the car was built to go a few hundred thousand without such foolishness. My well-made Nissans and Honda's have proved that. So change the oil at a non-dealer service place, change your fluids and filters and let the dealer charge someone else their ludicrous fees. By the way, I am buying a G35x Monday and will do the use the exact same approach.

I've driven a couple of Asian vehicles way, way beyond warranty land.

You've made an interesting post that 99.3% of the people who inhabit these boards probably think is beyond bizarre.

I don't. I do just what you do. I've driven a variety of vehicles well over a million miles, including two over 200K, two at ~100K and several others.

Keep the fluids clean and keep it away from the dealer. Good start, but you need to also keep the vehicle simple -- those rain-sensing wipers, dual-person mirror/seat/radio station/drink holder/etc presets, heated/cooled seats & all the rest only add to the joy. . .when they pack up.

This doesn't mean you have to drive a rubber floor mat special corolla -- "de-contented" BMWs, CTSs & other luxury brands can also be had this way.

Works for me . . . and apparently you as well.

You neglect the fact the many people don't want to get under a car to change their own oil or spend an hour rotating their own tires. I've done both but now I gladly pay the dealer to do it. What I don't do is blindly follow the dealer's service recommendations which invariably consist of many items that the owner's manual (i.e., the manufacturer) doesn't suggest.

I've read many times that most dealers make more money from their service departments than on new car sales. ;) Given the overall reliability of today's cars (even American cars), they need to prop up their service revenue by foisting unnecessary service on their unsuspecting customers.

By the way, I'll gladly spend the extra $5 to have the dealer change my oil rather than trust the job to the high school dropout at the quickie oil change place. I've been to those places a couple of times and it's pretty scary.

Ok, based upon some photos, magazine speculation, and internet gossip, at least some of the things that may show up on the upcoming G include:
    - updated exterior styling (several magazine pics, plus the coupe "concept" just shown in Detroit).
    - updated interior styling (from several sources)
    - possible 3.7L V6 engine (hopefully with modern engine features such as continuously variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust cams, direct fuel injection, enhanced air intake control, etc - current VQ is good, but lacks these features found on competitors).
    - six speed auto transmission (internet speculation).

Looks like the styling changes are virtually 100%. Let's hope that Infiniti also makes the mechanical changes to keep up with their competitors.

I've even seen some rumors of making the V8 an option on the 2007 G35. :)

I have been thinking about putting a cold air intake on my G35 Sedan, but not sure which brand I should use.

The Infiniti service department told me they saw a case with an Injen intake that caused the car's engine light to come on because of too much air. It didn't cause damage, but I guess the computer chip didn't like what it was reading.

Has anyone heard of this problem bofore with Injen? And is their a particular brand that has been rated "the best" for the G35?

We're considering a 2006 G35x, but we're not sure about getting the OEM navi. We are interested in this new portable navi from Alpine.

I got the OEM navi and it's terrible. I use it more than the average person (I'm a realtor) but it's outdated, has a horrible interface and severely lacks key features. For example, it doesn't allow you to program more than one destination in at a time in order to leave from one address to another. Also, the salesperson would have you believe that you will get used to the stick controller rather than a touchscreen and this is completely untrue. You will adjust but it takes A LOT longer to program. Lastly, it always seems to take the longest route possible. It works but if I had to do it all over again, I'd go without the OEM navi. You've been warned. ;)
  • treacheroustreacherous Member Posts: 22
What year G35 do you have? I thought someone mentioned that '06 nav was improved over previous model. I wonder if '07 version will essentially be a M35 Nav.
  • jgfoxjgfox Member Posts: 4
From what I know, the only changes in the '06 lineup to the G35 was the addition of bluetooth. I have a 2005 G35x. The 2006 FX switched to the new navigation system featured in the M and I think it's likely we'll see that navigation system in the 2007 G35 but as it stands right now, I can't warn enough about not going with the OEM navi. It works but it has absolutely nothing on the navis of Honda/Acura and Lexus.

I thought the M Nav was a touchscreen. The 2006 is still a joystick... which is rediculous.
