Still waiting for the street light. I think the Classic needs to be either Beige ("light antelope"), grey, or "ice green" to get a good contrast with the street light.
If you get it done with a black car, I'll be sure to honk twice as a salute! I would think that a black car would have trouble showing the shadows at night in a wy tht could be caought on film.
Those shiny ones are with a digital camera. It wasn't even set for high resolution. The matte is a scan of a photo. I got a good scanner now and I hope it would not do that to a picture.
Here's a 2001 4.0 that Greg noticed and took a picture of. Notice the aftermarket wheels (with the same 235/55-17 tires) and the "Aurora" badge on the doors.
What? Are you asking why modify the exhaust? If so, it was done to free up some power, but mostly to free up some sound. The Aurora V8 is a terrific sounding engine, but the stock exhaust barely lets you enjoy it.
Yes, my question was that I wanted to know what needs to be modified to fit the Corsa exhaust onto an aurora. I heard the sound bite on their site and fell in love.
Also the mushroom part of my name is the color of my Aurora. My car came with a bottle of AC Delco touch-up paint and the color is MD. Mushroom. Also at this online parts place they call some parts color mushroom as one of the color choices.
In order to fit the Corsa STS exhaust on a 95-99 Aurora, the rear y-pipe needs to be messed with. Shortened in length and tip-to-tip. My installer and Greg's said that it wasn't too bad. Figure 3-4 hrs of labor.
I LOVE how it sounds, Very cool and very tough! Must have!
Yep, the Corsa system is the greatest. It was designed for the Northstar 4.6 and sounds excellent on the Aurora 4.0 V8 since the 4.6 and 4.0 are so very similar. It's not cheap though. Figure $1,250 to $1,300 installed. If you will keep the car for several years or more - go for it. It's great. If you want something loud and obnoxious, it's not going to satisfy, but if you want a nice refined free flow exhaust that sounds deep and rich and is quiet on the highway it is for you. It helps the performance quite a bit as well. It doesn't require too much work to make it fit.
I took a bunch of pictures under the car as well. I'd be happy to share them with you - just give me an e-mail. You can share the pictures with anyone that you are considering for the installation. Get someone that works with 304 stainless steel.
That's the center for a 2001+ Aurora 17" wheel. And Greg is right, the screws are fakes. However, that center can be removed from the cap via little tabs on the back.
You want to use them as decoration on the interior of your car? The brushed steel and carbon fiber look is neat for a little cap on the wheel, but I think it would look quite strange in the interior...
Here's a full shot of what the cap looks like front and rear. You can see the tabs that would remove that little center emblem (but they aren't cool pictures like the other one). Hey Henri, didn't you one time joke about the wheels having "442" on them? The mold number for these center caps is #442. You can see it right in the middle of the cap.
I think maybe your picture site has restricted vistors from Edmunds due to too many visits. Perhaps not the best site to link to on a public board.
If anyone wants to see these pics, In Internet Explorer, simply right-click the filler-picture, select "copy shortcut" open a new (2nd) copy of Internet Explorer, right-click on the address line and *paste* the shortcut there. The pic should then display correctly.
Robert, Yes, your version is better. I bow to your superior Photoshop skills! (hold on, while I steal the new version....)
The Mushroom's photos are not working now. We've probably exceeded Shawn's allowed bandwidth on the Club Photo site. Shawn -- if you want to email me the pics, I can try hosting them so you can link to them in this discussion.
No matter how much I think I might be obsessing about the car. I can come to these boards and know there are others out there like me. Thanks guys for letting me know that I am okay.
I here ya about this site, make me feel all warm and tinglely inside sometimes!
Here's Muclecar's pic, I like it, and your WINNING!!!
Anybody else have any pictures of Aurora's at the track? I have a couple of my own, couple more from anybody and I'll make a page on my site "Dragging Auroras Page" or something
The picture says "start line" is this the end or the beginning of the "race'. I have trouble believing that a classic is beating this car off the line. We all know the aROARa is not an off-the-line car.
I didn't take any while my wife and I were there. It's funny because all of your picts look like the dragstrip I was expecting. Especially since MotorWeek tests there. It was so dumpy and trailer park-ish. The bleachers looked like they'd collapse any minute, there were only portapotties, and the parking lot was this post-high school singles hangout. 90% of the people didn't even watch the racing. I guess that was just the place to be Friday nights... It was more like going to a tractor pull...
and nothing but the truth...Yes this is a photo of the start of the race. Just goes to show what a really good reaction time will do...I really had the hole shot on him didn't I!...Notice the helmet he's wearing? That's required if your car runs the 1/4 mile in under 13 seconds...That is a hemi he's driving......notice all the smoke coming from his tires?....doesn't even look as if he's moving yet does it. Actually this was my last run of the day and we were bracket racing, that means my light turns green before his, sorry to ruin the fantasy. Now for the whole truth. On my second run of the day, before the bracket racing, I did beat a GTX hemi head to head with no head start. I got the hole shot on him while he sat and spun his tires, then he stalled out for a second before it started running right again, he really started coming on strong at the end and actually passed me just past the finish line. 6 months later and I'm still bragging about my Green Aurora....my 1997 V8 250hp muscle car!
Well, I had a great time at the show. GM had a lot of amazing stuff to see. I think they had the best display of things. Ford didn't even have the Ford 500 (Taurus replacement) on display despite it being likely for production (and the 2005 Mustang is hideous). The Final 500 Aurora will have 17" STS wheels... Oh well...
Chevrolet had a bunch of trophies and such on display, but nothing like that at the Olds display. They had the AeroTech, but that was it. I found it a bit sad. They had a DVD on Olds that is awesome. It has some great commercial bits in it on each car. It would make one hell of an ad campaign for the Aurora if only they wanted to advertise the car...
Here was one of the neatest parts of the trip. We visited some family friends, one of whom works in the Renaissance Center (though not for GM). We went over there to look at it, and they have a big display in the lobby. It was closing, but the guy working there was very nice and let us in (the lights were off, though, so that's why some pictures are pretty dark). They rotate the display every 2 months or so, and usually have mostly new production models there. So I guess I lucked out big time because instead they had all sorts of meaningful cars there like pace cars and such (the Corvette LeMans Pace Car and C5-R entry and the 1989 Turbo Trans-Am Indy Pace Car were standouts, no STSi LeMans Pace Car, though).
Here is the 2000 Indy Pace Car:
Here is the 1996 IMSA GTS-1 winner (it won eight of the ten races in the series)
If there is a picture you would like larger, I can email it to you. Just let me know.
I agree that the stock Aurora wheels are much better than the straight-spoked 17"ers of the STS. Plus, the tires were Michelin, not the W-rated Goodyears that are an option on the STS. So maybe if by some miracle I was in the market for another Aurora in 5 months, I would just get some 17" Aurora wheels and the center caps for the Final 500 Intrigue to replace those STS ones.
Having seen the Final 500 Intrigue and Aurora, the badging is really quite attractive. It looked sort of gaudy to me in pictures, but it looks very nice in person. I really think the CE Aurora will be one nice car.
The 2000 Indy Pace car was not an option on the 2001 Aurora. The 1997 Aurora Indy Pace Car was never for sale either. I guess they didn't figure anyone would want one. Usually that sort of stuff sells better to Camaro drivers and such. I doubt many people would have bought a replica of the Indy Pace Car Aurora.
RJS sent me the above photos with much greater resolution. I printed two in particular at 8x10 and on quality photo paper. They look great thanks to the printer, paper, and great picture. My favorite is the close up of the Aurora V8 in the Indy car. MHO - it's worth printing out to a high quality and adding to your car stuff. It'll make a cool picture on the wall too. I was really surprised at how nicely they came out.

Hopefully my Corsa system will be delivered on time (Tue) and be installed by the weekend,
and look as EXCELLENT as Greg's custom install.
I'm just imagining how it will look on my white Classic. I can see it now!
Hear what a CORSA exhaust sounds like below, just incase you forgot/never heard!

Greg sent me a ton MORE PICTURES of oustide/under-side/tips pics if anybody is interested, just ask.

By the way, I like the name. I think only a person with a 95 would understand where the name came from.

There is acutally a difference in color between neutral and mushroom.

Also tirerack.com calls my color copper mist

No B.S. I can't tell you how much I like this system. Sorry RJS.
Thank you
Henri
But I have heard the car called Champagne (tirerack), gold, beige, etc.

Also, is it just me or does the last pic look like a carbon fiber hood? lol
Thanks for the source of my new signature!
