It one time I was considering getting the Razzi ground effects. I didn't like the pictures of it on a white car w/ white GFX. So if I got them I decided I would paint have to paint part of the car to match. I was going to paint the body line just like the 97 Pace cars bottom gold trim, from there down Gold, including the GFX. I bet it would look pretty cool. I ended up talking my self out of that one because of the total cost was too high. Even got several Qoutes because I was serious. Only went to 1st class body shops that warrentied everything, cheepest install and paint was just over 1500. not including the kit itself. Anyways, heres another pic for fun. Look how the gold follows the body line.

I have that "Race car Pace Car Your Car" in poster form. It's hanging framed in the garage. It's really cool. Glad the zincster site is still going. He has a lot of cool stuff over there.

Greg, now I'm going to have to print out that engine picture... For those without photo printers, you can pay to have that stuff done at many online places. They mail you the photos and it is very cheap.

Henri, I'll send you the engine photo.
  • HenryHenry Member Posts: 1,106
I was already sent the engine picture. I just wish I was good enough on photoshop to remove the guide ropes and the stand from the pic of the car itself. MONTHS ago a guy posted a picture of a convertible Aurora he had done on photoshope. I know the pic of the Indy car can be chaged to remove the ropes and stand for the sign, but I dont know how. Any takers?

Adobe Photoshop is fun stuff. I'm not a wiz YET though. Next semester at Triton, I'm taking intro to Photoshop, semster after that Advanced photshop. Taking something out of a picture, like a rope and replacing it with a back ground isn't that hard. I'll mess around with it in the next couple of days and see what I come up with. It's much harder when you have to recreate someones artwork. I know one of my projects is being handed a ripped photo. I need to scan it and perform some Photoshop magic to it and WA-LA, 1 fixed photo. Graphic Arts and Printing major. I'm into the comerical printing end myself, I just want to learn the computer end of designing as a 2nd option or mabe on the side deal.

I'm not a wiz yet, but soon. When I get there, I'd be willing to manipulate any photos for you guys! I'll start with Henrys request, and you guys will see how i do. Just remeber If an amature still.
  • 800wattaurora800wattaurora Member Posts: 187
Of course I spoke before looking at the picture. There's lots of recreating behind that rope! Like the whole side of that very nice race car. Very difficult job! Don't think I'm that good yet. Sorry Henry. Remind me in 2 semsters from know.

If you try (I like that photo too and printed that one) get the high resolution version from RJS. Don't waste the effort on a 40 KB picture.

The wood kit on Zinc's former car helps the silver blend just a LITTLE BIT better. But against a black dashbord?? How loud is LOUD!

You can't link to pictures from Yahoo. They don't allow it. That's why I've gone to various other sites (look back in this forum). You can post a hyperlink to your gallery/web site or whatever you have on Yahoo, though.

The car looks great. You removed the "Aurora 4.0" badge, but not the "Oldsmobile" badge from the rear? Love the plate. What sort of paint care do you use on the car?

Hey, you need to tilt the OnStar antenna back at a 45 degree angle. That way it give the illusion of motion... ;)

Where did you get your woodgrain dash panels?
  • 800wattaurora800wattaurora Member Posts: 187
Kit is same as mine, from http://www.exoticwooddash.com. Not too hard to put on yourself. Just take your time and pre-fit every piece. Took a little long than an hour. They also have a kit for the +01's and I was reading they know offer custom coatings for any part you want.

I think I asked you this before. Is that 800watts peak or RMS?
  • 800wattaurora800wattaurora Member Posts: 187
No problem for the wood dash info. I highly recomend this to everyone. I'll probably end up buying a dash kit for every car after this, because I like mine now SO much. Kit's been on over 2 years and still looks GREAT.

800watts is the RMS rating. JL Amps don't mess around with claiming the peak #, say like Jensen. The Important thing when stereo shoping is to know how much constant power is being put out. Thinking I might need to change my name to 1100watt or 1600watt soon.

of the Corsa. I didn't pull the car out of the garage, so there aren't any different angles or anything. I'll surely take some later. I washed the car today, so it can be photographed (you'll see some water on the floor).

I can hardly see you in there but ah, man that set up looks sweet, and I know it has to sound sweet too.

Hey how much did that Corsa run you once again?

All that talk about the Corsa I did not pay attention until I saw your pictures.

Now I think I got to have one also.

It trully looks nice on your 2002 Aurora.

It would probably look nice on my 1999 Aurora too.

    Peace.

Is it just me, or do these tips look quite Corsa-like? The first picture I took at the NAIAS, but it came out blurry (photoshop helped a lot). Look at the passenger side tips.

    image

And this photo is straight from our own Edmund's. Look at the both tips.

As a GM stockholder, I got invited to a local stockholders info session and free tickets to the Baltimore Auto Show (woo!). It's this coming Saturday. I'll pay attention to the Bonnie GXP if it's there. I'll also try to ask who dropped the ball with Oldsmobile. ;)

Hmm, mother is from this town. Ever heard of it? Its near South Hill.
  • rjs200240rjs200240 Member Posts: 1,277
I haven't heard of it. But it appears to be in central southern Virginia. It's near Blackstone, right? I have been to Ft. Pickett several times, and for a few weeks at a time. I used to go there with my Marine Reserve unit because they have excellent firing ranges for the LAV's. Blackstone always seemed quite rural when we'd drive through on the way there. But I didn't exactly get a chance to cruise the strip.

Those tips on the Bonneville GXP are from Corsa:

  • garnesgarnes Member Posts: 950
For the classic, it will be about 1250 to 1300 installed. You need to find a good shop that works with 304 stainless steel.

I can send you pictures of my installation that may help whoever you find to do the work. Some modifications are necessary to make it work for the classic and it was a "figure it out as you go" kind of thing for the guys in the shop. They basically shifted the connection to the converter down a bit (did not follow the STS installation instructions) and they shortened the Y and bent the tips a little.

If you are serious, I'll sent the pictures of the underside of the car - just post an e-mail.

Hold to them for now, I was inquiring about the Corsa, I want it to see if it's worth getting, I don't know about that price doe.

I have the same reservations. 80k miles and an 8 year old car (1995), is it worth in investment?
  • garnesgarnes Member Posts: 950
Javi - my system is the Corsa - not sure from your post if you knew.

Henry - you can get it and just transfer it to that 99 someday - or even a 2001+ with some work.
  • hammen2hammen2 Member Posts: 1,284
    Henri asks the $1250 question:

    >I have the same reservations. 80k miles and an 8 year old car (1995), is it worth in investment?

    Well, to me, this depends.

How long do you plan to keep your car? How long does your extended warranty last for?
How many miles do you drive in a year?
Still paying for the car, or is it paid off?

In my case, the answers are 2-3 years, 100k, presently 18k+ but going down (football season is over, no 250 mile round-trips to Green Bay every other weekend :-). I'm still paying for it for another year.

I'd LOVE to put the Corsa on, especially after seeing garnes' pics and hearing rjs' video/sound clips. Unfortunately, my wife is unemployed at the moment, my employer's business is shaky, and money is tight. If I felt better about the economy, and had the cash around (not going into debt to buy it - credit card debt is evil!), I'd do it. Maybe in another year (assuming Corsa is still selling it), after my wife gets working and we rebuild our savings a little bit. I'm not planning on ever getting rid of my Aurora, so I can partially justify it from that perspective (in another year, the exhaust system on my car will be 6+ years old anyway, and, when the car is no longer my daily driver, the exhaust will probably be the first thing to go :-)

Hope this gives you something to think about,

    --Robert

Your last post sounds like mine from last month before I installed my Dynamaxs - and you tried to talk me into the Corsa, as I recall. :-)

I can certainly appreciate your $1250 question. I can tall you I'm very happy with the $325 Dynomax install. Check my post and kayman420's (who just had his installed) on the Accessories and modifications board.

    decissions...decissions...
  • HenryHenry Member Posts: 1,106
I was hoping you wouldn't notice that.

I want to keep my car. I really do!

But I really have to take a hard look at the out of warranty cost of maintaining the car.

While the exhaust is still good why replace it? Because, I do not know how long the Corsa will be available.

PLUS the idea of muscelling up the car is really nice! :>)

At the Baltimore show, they did have a cutaway of a Northstar. That was pretty neat. It must have been old, though, because the plaque that went with it showing the horsepower/torque graphs mentioned the STS/DTS/ETC motor. The ETC is gone.

    Hi All,
My post #146 was deleted because the images it contained were copyrighted. So here's the repost with links only.

    Auroras in The Matrix
I just downloaded the latest Matrix Reloaded trailer and found two well-known personalities among the crashes and explosions.

The first - Miss Classic Aurora. (in back of the bike...)

And the second -- Miss New Aurora. (But you New Aurora owners won't like what happens a tenth of a second after this still was snapped!)

If you want to see the trailer yourself, go here.

    Regards,
    Jim

I thought I was the only one that noticed the Oldsmobiles used in the Matrix Reload movie coming out in 5.15.03.

There is a chase scene were an Intrigue is seen flipping upside down in there.

Also a 2002 Aurora being stomped on, in the front of the hood.

    Peace.

It looks really good - like a wet piece of candy. I've always liked that color as well as the light interior. The Corsa looks excellent in two of those shots.

I thought the chrome wheels were standard on the 4.0?
  • kayaman420kayaman420 Member Posts: 207
Beautiful color. I love that on the Aurora. All you need is some factory chrome. Try AAArims.com very affordable and a good product. I just ordered some to exchange on my 95. They came in last week and Im having them put on today.

    nice Aurora
  • rjs200240rjs200240 Member Posts: 1,277
are not standard on the 4.0. 17" wheels are standard (16" on the 3.5). I really didn't (and still don't) want chromes as I like the look of aluminum better. I feel that much chrome in one place (unlike accent peices) is a bit too much on the car. Maybe if the car was black or White Diamond I would be more likely to get them.

If I put another coat of Klasse Sealant Glaze on the wheels, I can get them to pop just like the car in that first picture. In the right light they have a soft metallic glow like the car does. I find that more rewarding than the high shine of chrome... ;)

Your car is beautiful and immaculate!!!!!!! You make us Aurorians proud. I enjoy reading your messages even though I don't respond a lot. Keep up the good work. Your Corsa tips look great.
  • javidoggjavidogg Member Posts: 366
That is a beauty, I love that color.

That color has to be on the right car and the Aurora is the right one!

The color seems to look like the one on the Final 500 Auroras.

You really have taken care of the shine on that baby man, how you do it?

    Peace.

Hi guys, I'm an Intrigue owner, and I post in the Intrigue forum occasionally, but I read the postings here in the Aurora forum frequently as well.

Did anyone notice that all the vehicles in the Matrix trailer are GM vehicles?
The classic Aurora screen shot shows a Grand Am, Grand Prix, and 2 Caprice police cars.
The new Aurora shot also contains a Caprice police car, a GMC van, a Tahoe/Yukon behind the Olds, a Malibu, and other fuzzy vehicles. I wonder how much GM shelled out to be in the movie.
  • rjs200240rjs200240 Member Posts: 1,277
I would guess they just provide the vehicles rather than actually pay any money. But I don't know. That sort of thing is pretty common with cars and also with other products. I'm sure you remember James Bond's sudden infatuation with BMW's.

Thanks all for the kind words about my car. I really thought those pictures came out well, and I really like the shine/glow on that first one. That's what the car looks like when I am walking backwards away from it in parking lots...

Javi, the last time I was at an Olds dealer, they had a Collector's Edition in the parking lot (that was undelivered). I parked near it so I could compare the color. It is substantially darker than my car. I am starting to suspect that the brochures and such of the CE aren't painted in the Dark Cherry Metallic, but rather the Cherry Metallic (my color) or else they use some incredibly bright lights on the car to lighten the color up that much. It was fairly overcast when I was at the dealership, and my car looked fairly dark but not super dark. The CE car was so dark that it looked like a purplish/reddish brown. If I didn't look closer, I would have guessed the color to be a dark brown. I would like to see how they compare sometime on a bright day, but that is sort of time consuming. I wished I had taken my camera though the last time I was there.
  • mike98cmike98c Member Posts: 293
Also looked like a Caddy CTS in one of the shots
  • rjs200240rjs200240 Member Posts: 1,277
Oh no! I was perusing through this thread again to see all the shots of everyones cars. It looks like all my photos with cardomain and with villagephoto aren't there anymore! Actually, I can't even seem to log into villagephoto, so that may be the prob... Oh well... :(

Hey guys....I've gotten some new pics of my car up over at Autopia-carcare.com and thought I would share one or two with you.

    image

I've used a mixture of Meguiar's products, with Blackfire and Pinnacle as well.

    image

rjs will agree with me on the beauty of the "Blackfire glow". If you guys enjoy detailing, you should check out the Autopia site, there aren't enough Aurora's on there! In fact I've only seen his and mine so far.

    image

I really like the detail on the hood in this shot. I don't always get a huge payoff because my car is gold, but sometimes she really shows well. I've just recently been bitten by the "detailing bug" but everyone who gets close enough gets a beautiful car...so I guess it's okay. My 95 is running great and almost to 150,000! I think part of the preventative maintanence that ramou was talking about is keeping it looking good. She always runs better when she's clean!
  • stickking1stickking1 Member Posts: 247
Couldn't get by without a "locker shot". These are just a few of the products I use.

    image

In the back, you'll see a line up of Meguiar's products, and in the front row you'll see Klasse on the left, Menzerna on the right and Pinnacle Souveran taking centerstage, with Blackfire just behind it. The rest of my locker is just the usual Porter Cable Polisher, tons of microfiber products, gallon refills, etc.

    image

Okay one more and I'm done. This is the outside of my locker. The door on the left has a picture I ordered from GMPhotoStore.com of a 2001 Aurora, the door on the right has a pic of a 95 from a brochure I had a double of. Below that is a picture of my car. When I get a new Aurora, I'll put a picture of it below the new Aurora on the left. If you look closely, there is a sticker at the very top that says, "Look all you want, but please don't touch"..I feel the same way about the car. Okay, that's it...I promise.
    Thanks for indulging me guys!
