Quick question for any who frequents the board...Does anyone have the Code for the LS package on a '99 Silverado C1500 Std Cab SWB? I am a bit confused by the wording listed on Edmunds site about how to differentiate between the base, LS, and LT Models.
Thanks,
PK

What a great engine! I hear the '00 has an extra 15hp over the '99 for 285hp. Whatever the case, the thing is _stout_.
looking forward to many years of solid running.....
253 over invoice. However, I did have to
pay 288 for the advertisement fee, so
really it comes to 536 over invoice. Still
a good deal considering the only options
it did not have was 4wd and engine heater.
I also had 5,871 in GM cedit card rebate ... oh
so sweet.
I ended up at Anderson Chevrolet in Los Gatos, CA. Give Jerri Hall a call.
Not going to avoid that $$ with your age. Buy a used truck perhaps?...or bite the bullet!...we only live once you know..

1. Buy a safe car
2. Keep the miles down (the lower your annual mileage, the better - insurance companies give discounts for low annual mileage)
3. They also give discounts for anti-theft devices like an alarm, a club, or the vin # etched in the major windows
4. Go with a good company/those little no fault companies can't compete
5. Get married (you will receive a significant reduction in rates if you are under 25 & married)
6. Don't have any at fault accidents or tickets
Good luck!!!!
I know its a tough decision... 4.8 or 5.3
I thought about this for awhile and finally decided on 4.8... Reasons...
The 4.8 is cheaper... If looking to cut cost a little... that is a way.
The 4.8 has 15 less hp than 5.3 for 800 cheaper
its worth it to me...
There was a test on ext cab 0-60 acceleration with the 4.8 vs 5.3 The 4.8 came in .2 seconds slower than 5.3... Not a big difference... 15hp does not add much more speed to the truck... a little yes.. but is it worth it?...
Last reason is plainly... I dont need it ... Im not towing anything over 5000lbs so why would i need that engine... 5.3 has 15 more hp and i think 25 lbs more torque... but unless i was going to be doing heavy towing... no need for it.
I am going to be installing dual exhaust also when i get it so itll make up for a little hp too!!! Hoped this helped

that way... maybe print out the sheet and bring it to the dealership.
Also on color i ordered the Midnight Blue... graphite interior... I think the blue is an awesome color...
the new Chevy/GMC trucks please see TOPIC # 892
I am paying about 194 a month.
It comes to 1164 every six months.
Hope this helps you out.
Aaron
At least that's how it works in Southern California.
Don't forget to shop not only for price, though. Some dealers suck at support, and if there is a problem they may not go to bat for you. Check reputation as well as price before you buy.
Richard
The price on the lot was 36k or high 35k, It also had a custom package on it(Colorado Custom) including wood grain dash and stearing wheel, Gold GMC logos on front and back, Painted mirros and grill (match color of vehicle (white)), 6 disk cd-changer, a device that opens your garage and two other devices, and a hidden Cell attenna.
The custome pkg added about 4k but they just about threw it in there for free
It has everything I wanted and more. I went all out and I plan to have to have this baby for a long time.. It would be easyier to list what I don't have really..
not included are (heated seats) like I need those in AZ anyway
Does not have the ride controll either.
Included: 99 White GMC sierra extended cab 4x4
4x4 with autotrack
3.71 rear hope that number is right
Locking differential
Towing package
Z71 package
Fog lights
Rear defrost
Heated Mirrors
Keyless entry
Power everything mirros, windows, ect
Leather oak seats with 6 way power
Overhead console
Rear view mirrors with direction and auto dim
I paid 29K for it minus a trade in
it came to about 22K
Funny thing is I am only paying $85 more for it per month than I did a very basic 96 model.. go figure..
I am very happy with the purchase, my famiy and GF love the truck
Aaron
PS Not sure I can call it a truck.. with all the goodies. My mother refers to it as a luxery car..
And does anyone know it the single CD player can be used along with the changer (available through dealers)?
And does anyone know if the side rear view mirrors that are supposed to be heated AND auto dimming actually do auto dim? I have them on my LT but don't notice them doing anything different than regular mirrors.
Richard
And the inside rear view mirror dims....not the outside ones. They heat.
- Tim
Since it was considered a custom item, not sure if you can order it from the dealer or not, after market cd-changes to exist that plug into the Delco radio, if it has the AUX button on it.
Only the inside mirror dims, not the outside ones... maybe in the future, It will be 2 gazilion dollar option..
Aaron...
The same mirrors are mentioned as an option for the LS.
Yes, the CD changers (6 and 12 disc) are available through the dealer. Not worth it if it disables the single player, though.
Richard
1.Door handles, could have better feel and differenet location
3.I find it hard to get to some of the seat fusctions like the reclining, ect
2. Cd-storage with console, the storage lid should fold down, not up so I can see the cd's titles, same goes with the power outlets and cig lighter, should also fold down, not up
3.The sun visor, should be able to extend and the one on the passinger side should have a mirror that is hidden. GF hates this..
These are only minor issues
No lound noises though.
- Tim
Why did you order the air filter? I'm still trying to learn the advantage of the larger one. What is the cost difference of the replacement cartriges?
I understand the interior filters are only available at dealerships so far.
Thanks.
I am getting ready to order a 2000 LS XCab. I have a couple of questions:
1. I live in a suburb of New York City where all precipitation has ceased....probably forever. I have a 95 K1500 Silverado XCab 4X4 Z71 now and I like the way it rides, sits up high, etc. But I am thinking about going with the 2WD and adding a 3-6" lift instead. I don't use it off road really - maybe the beach sometimes. Figure I can save some green by doing this. Not convinced and I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts.
2. I'd like to hear comments on the locking differential option and its impact on both 2WD and 4WD models.
3. Anyone have an idea on the value of the radio delete - if any - on the LS? How decent is the radio anyway? Would you suggest going with the factory and adding an amp? Or go with the delete and start from scratch?
4. Anyone with experience with New Jersey Chevy or GMC dealers? The dealer that I used to purchase the truck I have now went belly up....actually merged with another dealer.
5. Anyone have an option that they could've done without? Or one they don't have that they're kicking themselves over?
Thanks in advance,
Pete
However, if you want an all-out killer system, you probably want to start from scratch. I don't think that the factory radio has pre-amp outputs. I think the radio delete is a $200 retail credit.
Get the locking differential. It's much better than a limited slip diff, and with your driving would probably make up for any loss from having only a 2wd if you decide to go that route. Even with 4wd, I'd get it.
Quadrunner: what was that link you had for more info on the locking differential?
Richard
See the following address for information about the Eaton product:

I believe it to be worth the money, especially here in Nebraska
Pick-ups are by nature light in the rear. Extra weight added in foul weather is a good move but the load should not be loose and slip around.
Guess I need to buy my truck where your getting it from... Z71 only 345 bucks hehehe
I wish it was so!
Unless, you are trying to get a good deal on that model year... then, I hope yours is trouble free.
Good Luck. I know you will get a good price this time of year....
So i could get the beefier shocks without the cost of a 4wd
The only suspension upgrades available for 2wd or 4wd base models are the Z85 Firm Ride, Z82 Towing, and the Snowplow option.
