The DVD player is in the dash. The video screen mounts to the roof rails. I need the wiring harness to go between.
BTW, since my original post I pulled the DVD player. In has only the wiring harness to the radio - nothing to the video screen. So I need the harness. Any ideas where to get?
I am a student doing research on how people use their TV system in vehicles. If you would be kind enought to respond to the following questions, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
1. How do you primarily use your TV? (communiting to work, to entertain your kids, on trips?)
2. Do you have satellite TV? If yes, are you happy with it?
3. If you don't have satellite Tv; are you aware of it? How did you hear about it (Advertisement, friend, store?)
4. Would you ever consider buying satellite TV? If not, why not? If yes, How much would you expect it to be priced? Where would you buy the system? What type of programming would you want?

I own '05 Audi A4 and I wanted to get an in-dash dvd Navi that plays regular DVDs and VCDs. Anyone know what the State laws in California are regarding these. Thanks
I am thinking of getting satellite TV for the DVD system I already have in my Ford Excursion. Does anyone have satellite TV? How do you like it? Where is the best place to get it?
I was told that the radio in my Grand Cherokee Limited is ready for IPOD connection, but haven't found any info on how to connect. Any help is greatly appreciated. Dealer advised that it could just be plugged into front radio. Is there an adapter or anything???? Thanks.
Reference post # 233 by qcp400 I have done as you've suggested and it worked! Thanks for the info. I do have a couple of questions though, 1) the shield and common together didn't seem to matter, only the common seemed to be necessary for the outer part of the RCA jack................ 2) I have flashing white spots (individual pixels) accross the entire screen and a generally por quality picture. I tried my portable DVD player as a source and no spots - I used it as a monitor with the OEM 6 disc / DVD head unit and the same spots appeared as on the new LCD screens (Vizualogic headrests). One mobile AV shop said I might need a video amp but a second said no it wasn't that and he knew what it was but he wouldn't tell me because "knowledge is priceless" although he said he could fix it if I brought it in and paid the $65/hr for 2hrs or so. Any thoghts? Anyone experience the same issue? Please help.
I recently purchased a 06 Grand Caravan SXT without a factory DVD system. I would like to have a aftermarket system installed. Is there room to install between the front console and the rear air controls or do you need a special console to incorporate the DVD and the air controls? If you mount the DVD after the rear controls will it be to far back for the middle seats? HELP! I am taking a trip soon and need this installed. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I just purchased a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country. We had the dealer install a DVD system though we questioned if it was workable due to rear AC controls. The sales agent and service department said it wouldn't be a problem. But just has we had originally suspected it is not a good setup. The DVD behind the control makes hearing and viewing in a comfortable seating position a problem. My children complain that the screen is dark and if they move they get a lot of static from the headphones in the second row captain seats. Everything is fine from the third row. Having this installed was a big mistake. If it seems to far back it is. Now the dealer wants me to pay extra for another shop to custom fit my unit in front of the AC controls.
This is not as neat as what you are looking for, but it probably would work: leave the AutoVision videocassette player in the console. Get a portable DVD player that can run on 12-volts (you don't need one with a screen since you'll be viewing the video in your van). Then connect the output from the portable DVD player to the AutoVision videocassette playr input jacks on the outside back of the console.
We recently purchased a 2005 certified Chrysler Town and Country. It has a rear seat dvd player but was missing both the headphone and remote. While, we can play the audio through the radio we need the remote to play some DVDS or pick scenes etc.
The problem... noone at the dealership knows what unit we actually have and we have already order 2 wrong remotes.
Below is a link to pics of my system and what the remote looks like according to the book. If you have this system can you please let me know the part numbers of any part you can. Thanks.
heres the link: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8ActHDRq2btnzQ
Why did you not ask the dealer you bought the van from to include the remote and headphones when you purchased the van?
I looked at your pictures and that system does NOT look stock. It looks like an aftermarket system. That is probably why the dealer is unable to provide specifics.
I've just recently bought a 2003 Grand Caravan ES AWD version, it's fully loaded with Infinity audio and single dvd player. My question is does the new 2005 or 2006 6-disk dvd changer from Chrysler can play dvd-r/+r disk? Any info would be appreciated
I purchased a 2006 certified Chrysler Town and Country on May 24th. It has the same dvd player shown in your pictures, and like you, the remote and headphones were missing when we got the car. I did not ask the dealer about the remote or headphones because I was unaware that they were needed. I discovered they were needed a couple of days later when I got the chance to play with the dvd player. I emailed my dealership and asked them to help me get these items for the player. I will let you know if I have any success and send you the part numbers if I get them.
Sheesh, you'd think that in their 120+ point inspection that they'd catch something blatant like that. They'd better get you replacements for those, otherwise CPO is just "used with some parts lost and not replaced".

2006 T&C-I have the chrysler in dash DVD and have successfully wired the power, video and sound to my Jensen overhead unit. The problem is the DVD player requires a play command to play.
there is a pin for DVD play but I do not know what input to give it? Does anybody know? go to ground? 12volt? I assume these switched are on the chrysler screen. :confuse:
The DVD gets a start command from the radio via the communication link. I have not been able to figure out how to emulate the command in my 2005 Caravan. It appears to be a proprietary open collector communication link. You can break the communication link once it starts, but it must be there to start the DVD. Can you wire the communication link to the radio?
Comm Link? I would not know how. I am thinking it is somehow in with the dvd play pin because it is a distinct contact. I just can't figure if it is a close to ground or energized? any clues? anyone? Bueler?
I also just purchased a certified 2005 Town & Country LX with a DVD System in it, exactly as shown in your photos, also missing remote and headphones. After many hours of web searching and phone calls to dealers (and wrong remotes) I finally found the correct remote from a dealer in Fullerton, CA. The P/N is 05166873AA (price $45). It matches the one shown in the DVD owners book and works! I don't intend to buy headphones so I didn't have them track down that P/N but the dealer said they are available. WOW I hope I never have to go thru this again!
I have a 2005 Town & Country that came with the DVD changer but no screen. I bought a screen, headphones, and remote on eBay, and the wiring from the dealership. However, the dealership doesn't have any info on where to run the wiring. I have removed the headliner and parts of the dash but can't find the proper place to run the wiring that matches up with the wiring connectors.
Could you email me the instructions that came with your system or give me some guidance? Thanks!
I purchased a 2005 Town & Country LX with the base model single overhead DVD player. I have been struggling with this for hours now and cannot get any audio whatsoever. The manual only has info for the 6 DVD changer. There are no headphones with this vehicle and apparently the wrong remote. My question is this...How do I get the DVD audio to play over the sound system so rear occupants can watch a DVD? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Go to msg 273 and look at the pictures this person posted on shutterfly. If this is your unit the following should apply. I also bought a 2005 Town & Country with a single overhead DVD. It had no headphones and the wrong remote. The single overhead after market MOPAR DVD player operates on FM Modulation for sound (It plays thru the FM radio) Mine operates on FM 88.3. (I think this is adjustable to other frequencies as well but you will need the remote to adjust it). There is a sliding switch on the bottom of the unit. When the switch is in the center the FM Modulation mode is on. If it is to the left or right of center the FM Modulation feature is off. It must be on to work. Luckily my van came with a separate owners book for this after market MOPAR DVD system, so I had a little info to go on. The P/N for the remote you need is 05166873AA. (this is not in the book and was not easy to find!) You can order it from any Dodge dealer. The price is $45. You can also get the headphones. Ask the dealer for the corresponding P/N. I didn't because I am not going to purchase the headphones (too many $$$$). I hope this helps. If your unit matches the one in the photos it should do the trick.
Are you using the stock Mopar DVD player? If so, what is the part number? For my Mopar 2005 DVD player you have to connect the DVD comm pin to the radio comm pin.
Just bought a 2004 Pacifica. When I press the headphone button on the remote, I only hear sound from one side of the headphones. The display shows "CH A" for a few moments, then it goes away. This happens with both sets of headphones. Is there a setup I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appretiated!
Did you get these instructions? If so, could you email them to me. My husband is about go nuts trying to wire a set of headrest monitors to our Chrysler T&C 2005 dvd player. thanks Kathy
We just purchased a 2006 Caravan with single disk CD and DVD (7" screen). For some reason on this model the headphones are not included (sticker says this), but we were told we could purchase them. We did so but can not get them to work. Went back to the dealership that evening and the Sales Rep said they would work, but the Manager said that they would not work in a short (non-Grand Caravan). Of course the service techs were out for the day. Anyone have any ideas as to the validity of the Managers statement. Also, if you do get them to work, can the adults listen to the radio while the kids have the headsets on and watch a movie?
Hi, good thing I found this site. Just bought a 2006 certified preowned Town and Country LX, 16K and with overhead DVD which has no audio. Didn't bother to ask about the headphone since I didn't thought it needed one, I just got the manual from my dealer after 2 weeks and it doesn't have anything there about single disc DVD, or is it because I got the Dodge manual? My dealer said it's the same with Chrysler> Is this true? I know from the very start I got duped with the sale of the van, listed price was 17K, and ended up to 30K+, it's my first buy on financing. The first one was an SUV which i paid in cash, since I was still building my credit. Anyway, I know I got suckered  into the amount but since we have it better make the most of it, so I really wanted to get that DVD playing with AUDIO!!! My handicapped daughter enjoys watching her movies even without any sounds and it just melts your heart  knowing I can do something about it. So guys, please, any advise? :lemon: Thanks
Supposedly in the Town and County, if the DVD is factory, you simply need to purchase the headphones (cheaper from the manafacturer than the dealer - http://www.koss.com/koss/kossweb.nsf/p?openform&pc^wl^HB75). You will also need to original remote for the DVD player. It has the control button that swtiches the sound between the van speakers and the headphones.
Hi, thanks for the link. Can I just choose any kind of headphones in this site? Will it work for the factory installed single-disc DVD? Just wanna make sure. Thanks again.
If you don't want to use the headphone, have you tried tuning in to FM at 88.3, that's what I'm doing now since I don't have the headphones. The thing is, you'll have no sounds, good thing cartoon movies make good music too nowadays.
Has anybody tried using wired headphones? I don't have any so I wanna know if it works if you plug it into the RCA jack on the overhead system, before I buy one. This will give me the option to listen to my music while the kids are watching the movies. Anyone?
I had the same frustrating problem...You need to put the radio on FM and tune to 88.3. The manual said nothing whatsoever...The DVD player sends out an FM signal which is thus received by the radio and played through the speakers...I surrently have the opposite problem. I can;t get the speakers to work. New batteries etc...Please tell me how to make the headphones work...Thanks DT ELmira NY
Hi..great job with the photos. I have the same system. I cannot figure out how to get the headphones to work. I have a remote very similar to the one you have photos of, however there is no headphone button on this remote. Am I to understand that the only way to activate the headphone mode is through the remote? If so, I need a different remote. Any ideas where to get the proper one? I have given up trying to resolve this problem through the dealership. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i just bought a 2006 grand caravan and have no sound, can i get sound out of my speakers or do i need these headphones i keep reading about . and if i need them where can i get them. thanks
I am using an Apple-branded video iPod-to-RCA cable (white, red and yellow jacks to minijack) to connect my iPod to the RCA jacks on the 6-CD/DVD changer in my 2006 Town & Country Touring minivan.
The manual says this is the way to play my iPod. But how do I get it to actually play the iPod? There seems to be no way to change the mode of the player to activate the jacks. I just want to hear audio--don't really care if the video can play, but that would be nice, too.
I have a grand caravan and I have setup fm channel 88.5 on the radio to receive the sound for the dvd player but there is a lot of static on it. For some reason, 88.3 doesnt work. Is there any other way so that I can hear the dvd player on the speakers without the static.
We just yesterday got a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with 6 CD changer, nav system and DVD player. The radio has RCA jacks on the front, and manual suggests (but does not say how) I can connect an Ipod thru the RCA jacks as an auxiliary device. In fact, it has worked 3 times - but only after enough button-pushing that it can only be called an accident. What is the magic sequence of events to get the Ipod sound to come through the car speakers? It has worked even with CDs in the 6-CD changer, recognizing the Ipod and playing it instead of the CDs, just like I wanted. There is a "CD/Aux" button, but pressing it seems to bounce back and forth between the satellite radio and the 6CD changer. It has caused the Ipod to play thru the speakers overriding the CD changers: Ipod on and playing, press Aux to cycle from DVD-CD player to Satellite to DVD again, then press Scan and it switched from DVD-CD to the Ipod. It worked yesterday, but now I can't do it again. Thoughts? Thanks!
I think the secret is that the iPod must be on and playing before the AUX actually "hears" it and picks it up. (Be careful: sometimes it'll revert back to CD or SAT if there's too much space between songs;this has happened to me once.)
I think I'm going to invest the extra $175 or so to get the OEM iPod connection that integrates with the player. That way, the playlists come up on the screen as well and I can keep the iPod connected (through a cable connected to the rear of the unit) and in my glovebox. That's what I hear, anyway. (I think this may already be under the Christmas tree in my house!)
I'll let you know how it works.
BTW... do you love the car? I do; I'm happy to be back in a Chrysler minivan again. This is my third (with a switch to an SUV for a couple of years).
Thanks for your reply. The idea of the Ipod being between songs had not occurred to me, so I'll try it. I think the car will be great, but at the moment I am so frustrated I can't stand it. This is after the salesman assured me 98 times that playing the Ipod thru the speakers would not be a problem. Sigh. I will be interested to hear how the connector gizmo works out.

Is it possible to hook up the dvd player without going through the sound system? (ie, using only the wireless headphones)
Does anyone know the wiring sequence our of the back of the player for the pigtail?
